I wonder if AOF is selling well enough to justify bringing KOF XI out here... I mean, am I the only person who remembers KOF 94 Rebout? That game was just around the corner and it got canned for no apparent reason... though it was probably lackluster sales of Samsho V and everything else SNK's put out over the last 5 years. So yeah, it'd be good if KOF XI came out in the US so people could stop trying to convince themselves that they like AOF Collection, but my faith in SNKPUSA is nearly nonexistant.
But as great as KoF XI is, if they price it at anything higher than $20, sadly, it's going to bomb again.

The only thing I can hope for is that AoF sent a message to SNK that "low MSRP's = lots of sales in the US".

Samsho V was attrocious though, and going back to the Gamecrazy thread, why the hell did they release that anyway. not like they ever gave us lV.

DING DING, we have a winner! :)

If the game does come out priced higher than $20 as you said, well you expect the bitching to be as bad as the AOF thread. I realize AOF and hopefully Battle Archives float around the $15 range, but what happened to paying for quality. People want what they want, but want to make sure they get it for a $1.

From my time spent with KOFXI at the arcade, I will say that is worth it's original $64 price tag.

Speaking of the Gamecrazy thread, I swear, the mods have some sort of connection to SNK's Millionaire Shit-Fest because they have deleted more posts than there are actual posts still in the thread now.

It's not so much people pay for quality, it's that so many companies now release their older / 2D games in compliations now, so nobody is really willing to spend $40 on just *one* 2-D game, no matter how it looks, unless it had online play. Not when they can get something tailored for the next gen for $40. To a lot of people, 2-D graphics, no matter how awesome they look, are "old school".

Look at all the companies releasing their older games in compliation's, hell, even SNK is doing it now - people will wonder why this one game is $40 when 7 Metal Slug games are also $40, or all of the Street Fighter Alpha games are $30 on one disc, and get one of those instead.

2-D fighting is a niche genre in the US, so a fighting game placed at $40 retail has as much chance of surviving as a shmup placed at $40 retail... and every shmup I ever saw in the US retailed at $30 or under.

KOF XI will bomb at anything over $20. Anyone that knows about it will have already have imported it at full price or they're like me. I don't have any means to play import PS2 games so I wait for the state side release. I know the game's been out for a year and I know it's awesome but I also know that KOF XII is right around the corner so this game won't be relevant for much longer. That leaves anything over $20 as a strict no go. I'll pay $40 if they package it with SamSho6 or NGBC.....

But if you can't import, KoF XII isn't relevant for you at all so that shouldn't have any bearing on your getting XI ;)

It's so easy to get a PS2 working with imported games that you owe it to yourself to mod your PS2.

I keep telling myself that but I'm torn between the magic keys and a flip top/slide card combo. After I start filling up a cart with games and accessories, I just step away from the computer and go play some 360 games. I meant KOF would stop being relevant because everyone else will have already moved on. I like playing Guity Gear X2 and #Reload but they're basically dead games and that kind of bums me out.

I need to just get a modded fuckin' PS2, but my motivation has been shot to hell after using my PS3 to upscale PS2 games... I want that now.

Kind of ironic that the author of the importing guide doesn't have a modded PS2.......I wish the PS3 could play JAP PS1 and PS2 games. Then, I'd buy a PS3 in a heartbeat.

Yeah, a little....

But if the PS3 got an update that'd let it play Japanese PS1 and PS2 games, that wouldn't be an issue anymore. Does anyone remember the reason why it's not backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games?
Ironically, Asian did not pay the $64 price tag.
Funny how that works out huh? :)

Almost all of the import fighters I have though, I've paid at or near full price. The only ones I didn't were ones I got off Ebay, trading forums (Garou, GGXXSlash, KOF 03', Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2), or used from local import shops (SVC Chaos PS2).

I really need to stop being lazy and put a chip in my PS2. I have an extra slim PS2 that I got out of a trade that I want to get modded. Just seems a lot easier to transport if I'm bringing it over to a friend's house. Also though small in number, my fat PS2 hates blue discs.

There are 3 people that do mods locally, it's just a matter of money and time....oh and laziness.

See, you're in a prime location to get anything done. The best opportunity to solder shit I have is if I were to go to my old high school's shop class and say "jo mayng, joo wanna lik... throw in thee mod cheep?"

Nice games last night in SF. I was drunk and half asleep, but I managed to pull off one win aganst your Blanka, Asain. So I left satisfied.
"jo mayng, joo wanna lik... throw in thee mod cheep?"
aw man I wanna talk like dat now!!

jo mayng, I gotz leek un kwartar up on dees 3rd strike ma-sheeeeeen yo.

jo mayng, u play da Odeen Sfeer? Gwendoleeng be striking dese mangs in..

deez nuuuuts~!!

u don kno mee!!

It ain't gay but it sure is ambiguous.

Oh, and CVS2 is pretty damn complicated. 6 grooves for 40+ characters and the ratios to boot. I think I'll stick to the more benign Capcom fighters. I gotta stop dicking around and get better at 3rd Strike.
Not so much into trannys as I am little girls. kthx.
OMG

hook it up with the loli prostitutes!
OMG

I bet you guys have posters of Jodie Foster from when she did Taxi Driver.

Got it from Gamefly today...

now how the fuck do I play Wartech: Senke Rondo or whatever the shit it's called. I played 2 matches and I was hella confused (granted I only looked at the controls for like 5 seconds.)

Anyway - help please?

Don't worry... VF5 scene is meh right now :( !

It's sad EVO East only saw 14 participants for VF5. :/

I can't believe it's doing worse than DoA4 did last year....
Still, I wonder why they would've delayed the 360 version... and I don't think it's to add online play.
well, the only added thing we know is that more female costumes are there... not necessary, but definitely a plus.

Also added is the ability to mix and match items from the different costumes.... for example, you can use a head item that is on costume B on costume A...

nice. when does version C hit arcades anyway? the delay may be due that, being that sega wants the arcades to have some time before the consoles.

fuck, that means delayed hori sticks :(

also, CvS2 upscaled in 1080i hurts my eyes, but it makes the game look almost cel shaded :D

So, not that anyone cares, but I just came back from LA today only to be reminded how much hotter and muggier it is here in on the rock.

Since this was mostly a family trip for the kiddies, I couldn't go all over looking for import shops and such, but I did pick up a copy of AoF Collection from TRU on impulse since it was "only" $15.

Also, my copy of WarTech shipped from Amazon somewhere during the trip, so I'll be looking forward to giving that a spin.

Vacations are awesome, but I guess it's nice to have broadband internet and video games again...

Damn, I've been penny pinching for about 4 months now trying to save up money... I haven't imported anything in awhile but I gotta say I'm really tempted to import Accent Core and that RE box that's in stock now at Play-Asia.... hrmmm....

YEAH for KOF XI - but all the real SNK fans already got it

BOO for VF5 delayed - Sega, if you make that game online I swear, I'll got out and buy the next shitty Sonic game you make. And pretend to like it.

Yeah, if Sega put online play into the 360 version, I'd definitely pick it up even though I own the PS3 version. Even if the graphics in the 360 version remain as they are in the screens we've seen, it'd still be worth having that version to talk trash online... you can never doubt the importance of calling people $$$$$$s.

Also, Markman, I didn't realize you liked 2D fighters that much... guess I just assumed you were a Tekken kinda person and that was it. But yeah, get Accent Core. Guilty Gear is made of win. Always. And you know you want it.
how about a match in a half hour or so?
Yeah, that sounds good. Ima take a shower now cause I smell like thee Mexico, but after that I'll throw that ish in.

fuck. Looks like NCSX isn't shipping GGXX Accento Core-u-da until tomorrow. So I prolly won't play it till early next week now. Oh well. Might have to settle for VF5 or the 5 games I have on order that'll probably get here soon.

why are you buying that game? whore. ASW shouldn't be encouraged.

anyway, I would buy it if it would come out here...though I am pretty happy with reload on my psp.

Well, cause I sold the original version of Guilty Gear XX for like $50 and all I was left with was Reload. That's on the Xbox with its fucking worthless controllers. I intended to get Slash, but that never went through, so by the time the rerelease for Slash was coming out (which I intended to get so I had a legitimate version of GG), Accent Core was right around the corner.

And I'm not a whore. You are. So is your mom. It runs in the family.

at least I get paid for what I do...? or something.

okay, hopping on live now.

Man, it must be nice getting on Live in the middle of the day. When I finally take some vacation days that I what I want to do. I never get to be on as much as I would like.

Hm, I canceled my GG:AC pre-order in anticipation of the Wii version. So is the PS2 version teh awesomeness, or should I just stick with Wii? If you guys like it, then I may try to pick it up instead...
