Fighting Game Thread V : Addiction > FADC > Recovery
SNK said if this one fails they will be done with the series?
Yea, that's what I read in an interview, it's probably still on iplaywinner.com but I don't wanna search for it.
I believe they said that if this one fails, it actually is done for good. Your netcode is what will decide whether or not I purchase it SNK! Get it right this time!
hate it when companies do this. Just make a good, full featured game by current standards...there are plenty of references for them in the fighting game genre. I'm sick of japanese companies thinking they can put out shit that was acceptable in 2000. SNK games are always short on features and the gameplay is rarely good enough to balance that out.

I can back you up entirely on this, but remember that standards have a different meaning in Japan. It's partially a cultural thing as well as a business thing. I dont even know how to explain it but you might know what I mean.

Am I the only idiot who bought KOFXII at full price? Oh that's right Mack got it to.

Hopefully they fix Clark & Ralf where they have, ya know, useful moves.

I bought it at full price. Difference is I actually enjoyed it despite its flaws. I had enough friends close enough to play this online with good enough results. I played over 1000 matches so I'd say it was worth the 30 bucks thanks to Amazon's trade in deal where if you traded in a certain amount of games you'd get half off on a game.

I enjoyed it too, but yeah it's extremely flawed. I played a ton of online matches but the lag made it to frustrating. I didn't think it was a horrible fighter, but it was vastly underdeveloped.

Speaking of "flawed" games I played some Street Fighter: The Movie game last night. In fact I hooked up my Saturn and played a bunch of fighters. I beat KOF 95' (which tend to do regularly) and damn, that game is fucking hard. I was feeling very nostalgic last night.

I played 12 local and online. Online was really laggy when playing unknowns, but with local people in my state and as far as texas and parts of Mexico I was able to get some really great fights. I'm just happy I'm in California where there's a lot of KOF players in the general area of the state. So I have got my money worth out of it.

It is flawed though. Quite flawed and a lot of the stuf was quite experimental to be honest and not fully cooked either. But what was there was rather solid. Where are you? Maybe we can try a few fights online.

And flawed? What about world heroes? Or Mortal Kombat?

And from the looks of it, 13 will fix a ton of stuff. Clark and Ralf have more moves. Elizabeth and Mature got a lot more moves, Kensou has his fireball back. SRK moves are no longer truly invincible as I've seen Robert and Ash's moves get knocked out of. The game play is closer to 2k2's max mode. The meters are back to 3 like standard KOF and 5 when you have one character left. This game is going to be rosy indeed. KOF Is either really good or really bad. For every bad one, there's a really good one too. RETURN OF CHIN?

I'd be down for some matches, I'll be up pretty late tonight so maybe later on if your still up. It's been several month since I last played so I'll be a bit rusty. I main Chin, Raiden & either Ralf, Ash, or Terry.

Do you mean the return of Chin or Chang?

Oh crap, you have a 360. Sorry, I didn't check what you have. I main Goro, Leona, Terry. I also use a lot of Chin. And WTF is that?
Yeah, I got 360, oh well. I'm sure they would've been some sexy matches.

I always thought this thread needed more:

Yeah it would have been good. I worked up to SS rank. Just a few hundred more and I'll be SSS. All my Mexican friends are SSS on KOF XII. They usually just random too. They know how to really use that Elizabeth and Raiden team. I love doing a lot of HEAVE HOES with Chin.

I find it funny that people were talking about how horrible the English KOF XII voices were. When you have such high quality english voice acting in other games like

MAH FIGHT MONEY!
TOSTAAAAADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
HOW'D YOU LIKE DAT?
OWW BOOBY LADY!

Yup. high quality fight game voices.

this is the best site ever:

it's even better than the fighting game thread FINALLY going back to roman numerals in the titles.

fukk u rolento and your thread "48"
I'm just happy I'm in California where there's a lot of KOF players in the general area of the state.
werd. like the $500 bonus pot that was thrown into west coast warzone last year for kof.

all fukkyn 12 of you showed up.

I got ragequit/hatemail today for the first time in a long time. It made me laugh pretty hard.

What's surprising is it was HDR & not SF4!

PS: 1 more month till SSF4. Get hyyyyyyype!
^ I love rage quit hatemail. I always give them a little swarmy comment back. It always pisses them off.
I think my comment was what set him off. After he quit I responded "You mad?" and got back....

"l not play cheezy ppl like u very simple."

to which I responded "I play to win, very simple."

^ I also like to tempt the rage quiters. However I'm a total dick to them. I try to get under their skin. I pissed one guy off so much that he sent me messages everyday for a week.

so glad that all the good releases got pushed to end of next month since that's a few days after my graduation... I plan on vegging out for a week on games before getting onto my second part of life.
Is nobody else really bugged by the fact that every character with a projectile in SFIV has an unblockable ultra now?

http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=230088
I only watched the four vids on the first post, but that does seem a little.. off. More so on how easy those seem to be able to pull off. Not game braking but could be annoying.
fuck yeah, Mai's tits are even better now... best stance ever

http://game.snkplaymore.co.jp/official/kof-xiii/character/index.html
That's awesome!

I like that there are preset teams again. Hopefully this means we get some kinda story. Raiden on Team Kim seems odd. I guess we can expect either Takuma or Kasumi on Team AoF, unless they decide to throw in some obscure character from the series. And if they keep up with tradition then it looks like Vice might make Team Iori. Still I hope there's more characters than that. The cast still looks dismal. And were are the new characters?

Also checked out the movesets of certain characters. Hopefully more will be added cause it's not looking all that different from XII

i read the post and everyone's saying it's hard to time and set up

i'm not too concerned until it becomes a big problem
i'm tired of speculating what things are gonna be like
i'd rather just experience it

They posted videos of those unblockable ultra's being blocked, it's no big deal, unless you're super aggressive you will probably fall for it. I guess I'm lucky I usually get GG's from people or nice match, one guy did call me a wuss for quiting in the lobby but it was late, had to go to bed.

I'm pretty good about throwing out GGs when it's well deserved, even if I get beat down pretty hard. You generally can learn more from losing a match as opposed to just playing people you beat down on all day.

Yeah, you play the classiest people on live. I mean I get pretty upset playing on live, but not enough to call someone a bitch like i've been called several times. It's not my fault your flow chart Ken no damn good.

The only match i've lost recently, and bad, was against a RYU that was turtle'n and plinking like a bastard. After the 3rd time ive seen him double c.lp to hp to ex I knew I was fukked. The sad thing was, I was picking about 5-6 different characters. After 19 matches (i won only 2), he still did nothing but pick Ryu so I left

True, seems like something somebody would try in a desperate situation rather than a standard setup. Not to mention, Seth so far is the only one who can do it without FADCing. You'd see it coming with everybody else and maybe (situational according to the thread) escape it with a reversal/backdash, depending on the character doing it. Still, I don't like it!

K' sucks. Give me some real variety. Heavy D, Lucky Glauber, Brian, Heidern, Saisuyke, Yamazaki, Billy Kane, a fat guy with a gut, an oiled up turkish wrestler, a black guy yelling about FIGHT MONEY. ANYTHING over another shoto type character.
Also, incase anyone wonders, and this makes me damn happy, K' and company are in XIII
When you say K' and company do you mean his typical team of Maxima & Kula? I like K'. Still I haven't seen any new characters that I normally main (Billy, Geese, Duck, Krauser, Yamazaki) And I wonder if they'll actually have a boss this time. I would actually like to see Adelheid return. They never really had a chance to flesh out his character and I think he'd make an intresting and appropriate boss.
how can you tell if he's plinking over xbl/psn...
you cant... everyone online jus has turbo turned on and does combos by holding the buttons down o_O

but then I guess u can tell by downloading the replay that shows player inputs

I really have no idea why, but I want to play Hokuto no Ken really, really badly. Unfortunately, I have no way of doing that, as my PS2 that plays imports is out of commission and my new PS2 isn't set up for playing imports. Hrm... oh well.

I might pick up KOF13 if it has K'/Maxima/Kula.. always did like that team. Also.. please give Iori his regular moves back.. the whole rainbow nail scratching moves just don't do it for me. :\

K is fucking stupid. All the Kyo clones are stupid. Games that rely on cloning to further a storyline are stupid.

That being said, I am excite for KoFXIII.
how can you tell if he's plinking over xbl/psn...
That's what I was wondering LOL

Also who cares if someone doesn't choose 15,000 characters when playing long sessions. After years of playing at a competitive level, I stopped playing tons of characters per game and actually stuck with 1-2 characters as mains.

Would you rather be good with 1-2 characters in a game or be completely mediocre with half the cast.

My Seth and Abel leveled up completely once I stopped playing random ass characters and focused on only them.

Also what is wrong with Plinking? It makes 1-2 frames easier to do, but you still need to be able to time/link combos. Plinking doesn't make combos guaranteed, just makes the frame window a smidge bigger. I personally don't use it, but a bunch of guys in my crew do.
