So ... in your personaly opinions, who do you think is the coolest fighting game character of all time? And, who is the goofiest fighting game character of all time? You could talk about their looks, moveset, or even their sexual preference, haha.
Well my favorite character has always been Billy Kane. Always liked his rock n' roll style. His move set makes him an effective poke character. One bad thing is his pole acts as an extension of his self, not a projectile. Which pretty much means if you hit his pole, you hit him. His Falling Sparrow is probably one of the best moves. If pulled off right it can be an anti-air and when he falls down he attacks with very little recovery time.

For goofiest I guess the generic answer would be Dan. How about the entire cast of Clayfighter.
Haha Apossum, that sig pic is too funny. But yeah, cowmon guys, this is fighting thread, not bragging rights.

thanks, I wish I could take credit for making it ;)

coolest-- ryu hayabusa. he cuts choppers in half. he's the inspiration for my new game: "Ninjas vs. Helicopters"

goofiest-- moveswise-- Zappa. I've never figured out how to do anything with him
characterwise-- stryker. just....stryker.

Coolest - Guile of course. The Marvel vs. Capcom 2 version is the best. The Sonic Hurricane is so cool in that game. Beside him though? Lei Wulong. I am a huge Jackie Chan fan and he's the closest thing to Jackie Chan being in a fighting game that we will ever have.

Goofiest - Voldo. Dude is just weird.

I know I asked this a few months back but I'm wondering if people still play SFAC on Xbox Live (Third Strike, SF II, etc.?) I might finally pick up a copy because I wanna play some SF on Xbox Live for once and I'm more into Capcom than SNK.

Truth: K' is the coolest fighter of all time. He wears sunglasses, triggers a super by throwing said sunglasses at his opponent, and walks really, really shady-like with his hands in his pocket. It's simply not debatable.

I still see people online for it.

I also still see people who play online. But be prepared to get your butt whooped, cause 95% of them are pretty good. My subscription expired and I'm not renewing it, so unfortunatly you wont be seeing me online.

If more people played other 2D fighters like SamShow V, KOF 2K2 and Guilty Gear I'd probably renew it. But The only 2D fighting game that still gets some good online play is SF 3s. But you'll notice the same 20 people play all the time. It's very rare you'll get a noob.

K' is overrated. Just cause a character is designed to be "cool", doesn't make him cool. To me, he looks a bit lame. Infact he acts too cool, it's like he's overcompensating for something. SNK just loves shooving this guy down our throats. Get rid of this jerk and give me back Joe.

Coolest: No doubt Ryu man, you've gotta fucking fucking kidding yourself if you think for one second that it isn't him or Kazuya

Lamest: Ruby Heart, Darren Meister, Anna Williams, Sarah Bryant, Kasumi Todo, Zach from DOA, Choi Bounge, Chang from KoF, Pretty much anyone from SF EX 2 or 3

skullomania owns all!

but yeah, d. dark has got to be one of the weirdest character ideas ever.. and not really in a good way

is K' the Tetsuyo (or w/e his name is, the guy from Akira) look-alike?

What is the average amount during its peak? Because I see no one online for Guility Gear or SVC Chaos.

Hey hey, they're both from EX1 so they don't get shafted into the gayest characters ever alive category.
is K' the Tetsuyo (or w/e his name is, the guy from Akira) look-alike?
That was K9999.

K' is the blonde haired, leather wearing, semi-homosexual lead character for KoF99-2002.

Actually his hair is more white than blonde. He does have another color templete with blond hair.

the EX series sure had a ton of oddballs... D.Dark was pretty cool IMHO
my new favorite fighter-- Wii Boxing!
My wife kicked my ass last night in Wii Boxing. :boxing: I think see liked it a bit too much.

Plus we made our little Mii characters, so that just added to the effect.
What is the average amount during its peak? Because I see no one online for Guility Gear or SVC Chaos.
Lst few times I have been on there were at least 4 or 5 matches waiting. The weekend seems to be the best time for it.
Goddamn I searched low and high and ended up Wii-less today. Life isn't fair!
Yeah, I feel your pain.

We underestimated the demand for it. My last chance, until they get resupplied, is jacking someone's pre-order that they left and didn't pick up.

I finally woke up. This has got to be one of the most tiring weekends of my life. I slept from around 2 PM until 10 PM.... that's the only sleep I've had since Thursday night.

GOD DAMN.

Wii. :)

PS3 -_- ...

TEKKEN 5 on PS3 :/

SIXAXIS LAG

I'm importing a JPN PS3 so I can play my imports... I hope the good games work well on backwards compat... -_-
my new favorite fighter-- Wii Boxing!
Screw that. It's all about DBZ Wii.

I played for about an hour, and now my arms feel like I had jacked off a Super Saiyan.

How is DBZ?

so I picked up a SOTA Guile for 5 bucks the other day. it's a really cool figure and a welcome addition to my collection. also, yeah I cosplayed as Mario this past Saturday. if you're curious, I'll post up some pictures.

also, I'm trying to get into Guilty Gear. can someone direct me to a place where I can learn the basics of the game? it feels so different when compared to street fighter and the rest. anything would be helpful.

In a industry where sequels are the norm, what fighting game would you like to see have a sequel. For my I would love to see Capcom vs. SNK 3. Capcom vs. SNK 2 was one of the first PS2 games I ever played constantly and I've been waiting to see Capcom announce a follow up. They can add the whole cast from Street Fighter 3 and more characters from Samurai Shodown and Last Blade. They could also add a few original characters like Devil May Cry's Dante into the mix, he's made cameo appearances in so many games, might as well put him in a fighting game.

Good question. Hmm, I would like to see Guilty Gear come out with something other than XX, maybe something like XXX. But then again, I would be a bit frightened because XX is an almost perfect 2d fighter, and I wouldn't know how they would improve upon it. Hmm, Clayfighter 512 would be tight... or not... Oh yeah, I'd also like to see Namco vs Capcom in 2d fighter format, instead of RPG form.

Mortal Kombat 8.............

....

.........

whoops, I meant to say, either CvS3 or MvC3 with a bunch of cameos from the newer capcom games...Dante, VJ, Chainsaw man from RE4.........AMATERASU :hot: ;_;
 good joke. nobody actually wants to play a PS3.
KOF going Hi-Res puts a smile n my face. :D
Seriously.

If they make it look even 2/3 as gorgeous as Guilty Gear it'd be amazing!!

On that note, anyone heard anything new about GG:Accent Core?
Mortal Kombat 8.............
I'd love if they just scrapped the next generation MK, and instead gave us "Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3: 2" ...although I assume they would come up with a less awkward title :D.

I'm losing track of all these Guilty Gear games. I tought GG Slash was coming out.
There are in the G.A.P. There were people really upset because they couldn't play a PS3 on launch, all because of stupid hoarders.
actually the hoarders were pretty smart. The people who wanted to buy a ps3 (like, actually pay for it in full without selling off another to get it for free or anything) at launch were stupid because there aren't any games for it and the thing is likely to break. I have little sympathy for them, I guess.

BUT That's another thread for another time.

Slash has been out in Japan for a while. There's a "guity gear series" listing on gamefaqs that is mysterious, it's supposed to be a U.S. release...

and then GG Accent Core is the new update of XX, which is due out in Japan soon.
On that note, anyone heard anything new about GG:Accent Core?
I believe they are still in beta testing in the arcades over in Japan and most likely would not truly hit arcades until mid December.

I also think that gamefaqs entry is an error or fake because I don't see why they would bring Slash here all of a sudden so long after its release. Someone said on here that they tried to bring it over but were denied.

Now that PS3 has come out, Sony is more lax about what comes out on the PS2 now... so it is a huge possiblity it could be coming out.

For those that are extremely patient, Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is going to be part of SNK's "The Best" collection on Jan. 25, 2007 for only $29.90.

It's a ways off but I waited this long for it.

It also looks like Samurai Shodown Tenkaichi is going to be $29.90 on the same day, another entry into "The Best" -

Two awesome fighters for the price of 1, I can't wait.

Maybe... but I don't know. I'm not sure if theres enough fanbase left to warrant a ps2 release stateside.

Anyways. What do you guys think is the most technical fighter out right now, concerning the game's fighting engine? Also, what game has your favorite fighting engine, and why?

I'm not too sure about most technical, but I'm sure Guilty Gear series is way up there, though I could see some other fighters up there close by. As for the 3d fighter genre, I haven't dabbled too much into them. I would suppose virtua fighter, since I couldn't really button mash in that game.

My favorite engine would probably have to be the Smash Brothers Melee engine sans items. The fact that there is l-canceling, wavedashing, and various other things to incorporate to mindgames, makes it one of my favorite "fighting" games to play. Though like many other fighting games, there are several things that can be "abused".

That's a great price for NGBC, but I'd recommend NOT buying SS:Tenkaichi because it is supposedly being included in a Samurai Showdown Anthology/Collection on PS2 sometime next year. Unless there was a misprint in the SNK book I nabbed at TGS this year. *shrug*

Also, any word on KOF:MI3? It was announced for XBOX 360 @ TGS 2005 but I haven't heard anything about it since. BUT they do have the arcade version coming out soon (KOF:MI Regulation A, with Ash!) so maybe it'll be a port of that?

I think that the most technical is Guilty Gear and it's also my favorite for that reason. There's just... so much you can do in that game that there's always some new tactic to discover which keeps things interesting even if you've been playing for years. I dunno how Arc Systems did it, but wow.

And on a side note, I played my first Vs. match of Melty Blood since... August! A few of my friends were back in town last night for Thanksgiving and we played the game for like 3 hours... which was great because nobody at my school plays any fighting games outside of Smash.

And on a really unrelated note, I'm on an importing high again... should be getting Dodonpachi Daioujou and Mushihime-Sama later this month. I'm gonna be so leet.

Technical? I can't say for any recent games, but WeaponLord had the steepest learning curve of any fighter I ever played.

Fighting engine? MvC2. Damn that game is pure adrenaline.

No problem! Every once in awhile I go on Play Asia to see if SNK or Capcom is having any upcoming fighters go cheap like this.

Also, remember that Darkstalkers Collection drops to $19.90 I think sometime in December, as part of Capcom's little greatest hits dealy.
