Samurai Spirits: Rokuban Shoubu is suppose to have every Samurai game from 1 to Tenkaichi (minus SS RPG, the 3d game and SS Zero Special) I would wait for that instead of getting Tenkaichi now.
I wonder why it dosen't have zero... oh well.
it does have zero, it just doesnt have zero special (the one with extra stuff)

Whew, saved me from buying Tenka then. That's clearly going to be the greatest thing ever.
And on a side note, I played my first Vs. match of Melty Blood since... August!
That game was extremely fun when I would play with my friend. But, unfortunately I don't have anyone else left to play that game with.

Yeah, the name recognition of Melty Blood isn't so good here... I dunno why

Well, at least the single player is really fun to play... and it gets surprisingly difficult in the later stages of the game.

TEKKEN

Shit, I've been hosting weekly tournaments in my garage, but I'm lazy to keep going. Free DR always brings a good crowd lol.

Speaking of which, are you still planning on making some sort of tournament type thing in the area Rolento?

I've had no time at all these past few weeks. Once next week is over, December is totally free, so there's still a possability. I somewhat doubt it this december, but jan/feb is a possability (new school has alot of SSBM play, and I can setup some other "real" fighting games).

I figured I'd try posting this here since it is semi-related to fighting games and I have gotten no response in the OTT forum.

http://cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116000

I watched the Chun-Li/Vega (Balrog) fight scene (both the Japanese and English version), and I think the dubbed version is WAY better. Not because of the dub itself, but the English dub's music fits WAY better than the melancholy song in the Japanese version. There are also just too many moments of silence in that fight scene in the Japanese verison.

What does everyone else think?
Whew, saved me from buying Tenka then. That's clearly going to be the greatest thing ever.
I posted the same info 6 hours earlier!!
That's a great price for NGBC, but I'd recommend NOT buying SS:Tenkaichi because it is supposedly being included in a Samurai Showdown Anthology/Collection on PS2 sometime next year. Unless there was a misprint in the SNK book I nabbed at TGS this year. *shrug*

No one reads my posts! *cry*

hahaha

People overrate that anime anyways.

The best fighting game anime is Virtua Fighter, with English dub.

 Didn't really answer my question, but I do have the Virtua Fighter DVDs. I just haven't watched them yet. I suppose I'll do it this weekend.
whoa... how the hell'd you get a PS3?

Either way, it sounds like you really had a good day... I wish I had a Tickle Me Elmo...
Craziest stroke of luck ever. I walked in as the Best Buy guys were rolling out this metal casing thing (around 11 AM or so) and they opened it up and it was filled with PS3s. It's the 20 GB version but oh well, I still have a PS3 and that's all that really matters.

The Wii I got because my friend's girlfriend is a manager at Toys "R" Us and she totally hooked me up. I barely know her and she saved me one and then called me and told me she saved me one. She had like a plan worked out to where none of the other customers would know that she saved me one. It was 100% awesome.

The Tickle-Me-Elmo came in the mail today from the etoys.com order that a few of us CAGs got in on (a few literally, I think there was like 4 of us)

Well I had a good day too. No PS3, but I finally found a fucking copy of Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 for the Xbox. Gamecrazy had it (only 1 copy) and I drove... pretty fucking fast to get there. But I feel great now. It's so satisfying to look at my shelf and see CCC Vol. 1, CCC Vol. 2, and Capcom Vs. SNK 2 all lined up together.

That said, my PSP copy of CCC Remixed is up for sale if anyone's interested. That's the first compilation that had Strider, Final Fight, Captain Commando, etc.
oddly dumb:

Stupidty at its finest.

Who will think of the computer-generated children?

I wonder if they had any issue with the underage Russian group Tatu who played up the lesbian angle to the hilt and are real life humans! What about the movie Taxi Driver? I could go on and on...

Pretty soon Peta will be up in arms for the physical abuse Kuma, Roger, and Alex take in the game because even they they aren't real, it is the brutalization of an image of an animal.
Very weird. They don't get all pissed about the violence in the game but they get all twisted about digitized underage girls? Aussies are weird. Didn't they just ban a violent game recently?
Yeah, they did. Viva Pinata really went over the edge.
The Ozzies banned Viva Pinata?
Well technically, no. I actually made that up and pretended that it was fact. Wouldn't surprise me to see that though.
The mayor of Rome attempted to ban Rule of Rose
It's easy to see that happening... there's alot of petofile/fetish stuff in that game. I got the review copy for it a long while back and it is interestingly sick. Wish it were a fighting game ;)
Well technically, no. I actually made that up and pretended that it was fact. Wouldn't surprise me to see that though.
Hahaha I like how you explain that. "Technically" as if there is some kind of justification to make it true. I LOL'ed when I read it. I like how you blantantly admit to making it up rather than making up some corny joke or story.

Kudos!

It's true. Australians are generally bastards. I've been to the country and the people there seem nice, but the second you turn your back, they try and bite your arm. Ravenous lot, them.

Err.. fighting games... oh yeah! SSF2T is fantastic. Definitely my favorite iteration of SFII. I never played any version of SFII seriously, but I kinda want to get a little more in depth with this game. Unless I'm going crazy, I think this looks quite a bit better than SFII turbo as well in terms of the animation and detail in the sprites... which makes sense since the game was on the CPS2 arcade hardware.

weren't the original aussies prostitutes and criminals? good stuff!

and to all PS3 owners: congrads, you're ready for VF5

Close. They were actually refuse from the prostitution rings. Bottom of the barrel. There's a reason that kangaroos view Australians as second class citizens.

Now here's a question: Does anyone know what's being changed in Melty Blood AC Version B? Is it the same thing as the "original" gameplay mode in the PS2 version of MBAC?

I found that there's a Capcom quiz on CCC Vol. 2 which basically takes King of Dragons and throws in all these various Capcom related questions... and it's a really good quiz... some tough questions in there. It covers everything from fighting games to Mega Man and it's got some recent stuff like Lost Planet and Dead Rising in there too. There's some really obscure questions like "how many parts were there to El Dorado's Gate" and the answer to that is, of course, 7. And I finally found out what Capcom stands for.
Chacrana - Did you get the PS2 versionor the X-Box version?
Xbox. It was apparently the only copy ever produced because it's so damn difficult to find... Gamecrazy had 1 copy of the PS2 and Xbox version.

I've been having a hard time finding an X-Box version too. My only reason is for the multiplayer. So I can play some of those 3-Player games. King of Dragons and Knights of the Round are 3-players, right?

According to the box, yes. I've gotta try that out myself... I forgot you could even play multiplayer in those games.

Nice, the PS2 version runs in Progressive Scan, that's a surprise.

Game is well worth the $9.87 price Target is asking for it, but I guess that sale is dead now.

Hell, it's well worth $20 too. The games on this collection are fantastic and it's nice to have Strider and Captain Commando on a real system... my favorite thing about this collection though is that it's clearly a labor of love. Everything from the Capcom quiz to Sirlin's ST training videos to the emphasis on having an arcade perfect ST to the tons of extras on here. It just feels really, really well put together. I'm really excited to see what Capcom puts on the inevitable CCC Vol. 3... while we probably won't get stuff like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs due to licensing issues, we'll still probably get stuff like Cyberbots, Giga Wing, 1944, Mars Matrix, etc... Capcom's CPS2 lineup was incredible.

Anyway, I'm gonna go play some Knights of the Round... that and King of Dragons were some of the very few Capcom beat-em-ups that I haven't played.

Fun for awhile but they get really old really fast because they are really fucking basic.

Not even a grab move in either game... Final Fight was a better brawler than those two, and I believe they came out AFTER Final Fight.

Don't get me wrong, both games are ok, but the novelty wears off pretty fast. They both have a shitload of stages too.

Really a shame we won't see The Punisher on these discs. I'd love a Vol 3. with Cyberbots, Red Earth (it's begging for it), and some of the other games you mentioned.

I love knights of the round... it's basically Final Fight, but where you can upgrade/level up your character...

Just without a way to grab and throw, and weapons you can pick up off the ground, and a rather boring selection of enemies to fight against.

I don't hate the game, no, but Capcom could have done alot better. The upgrade / level system is more of a gimmick than anything else so it dosen't really impact the game that much since you'll always be a certain level by a certain stage.

I mean, shit, just compared to Final Fight it feels second rate. Compared to the opus that is Final Fight 3 it seems downright rudimentary.

Well... at least Captain Commando is good.

And all this beat-em-up talk makes me really, really want to grab Sonic Gems Collection from Japan... just because Streets of Rage II is obscenely good.

I never said Knight of the Round was the best, I just said I loved it :)

it was a mediocre brawler that I thoroughly enjoyed.
