i started with Terry, but quickly learned to appreciate everybody in that game. easily my favorite fighter to date. the funnest characters IMO are Kevin, B.Jenet and Rock.

hey, any word yet on whether SNK will make a Garou 2?
I remember there being a rumor a while back... like 2 years ago. But nothing came of it.
according to my friend (moondabor), he said there's pretty much one way of playing: an escape stack and an attack stack.

also, dan is playable. if you only attack with large attacks, you're betting that the opponent doesn't get a red gem.

interesting decision on the diamond trick. according to my friend, they softbanned it at AI... people knew about it but didn't use it. i think it's a bad decision. diamonds, imo, were meant as escapes, not as attacks, which is why i felt that the 50% atk was fair.
whaaaaat?!?!?!

what's an escape stack??

I got this game on mine PSP, I should practice it a bit

For Garou my favorite is Gato. Tizoc & Kevin are fun too. This would be an awsome game for XBLA. SNK needs to get a clue and make some of these availible like pronto.

At first I was disapointed by only one returning character (Terry) but like SFIII I quickly realized all these new characters were awsome. I actually like Garou more than SF III. I know I'm a retard.

There are some cheap xboxes popping up on craig's list since apartment move out day is coming up. I'm tempted to buy one just for CvS2 online...but I doubt anyone plays anymore, eh?
Reminder.

I will destroy you all.

Taking bets if wanted.
I'll be happy if I get even just ONE win again you, ReRo or Jim :)

Thanks for the tip about the Pelican Converter. I had to open up my custom yesterday to hot glue some of the washers down. I thought I had pinched a wire or something when the stick wasn't registering backwards motion in T5DR.

Anyone interested in starting a T5DR CAG Fighting Thread Clan? Shit that's long....T5DR Online does have clans right?

I'd like that...I can make myself seem somewhat less bad.

I think we can have just a CAG clan, but to seperate ourselve from the rest of CAG, just call ourselves CAG FT... acronyms are easier :)

oh, and n8nmonster, post here more. I prefer to spice up my readings from someone who is a #2 lei :)

I wish there was a clan option for T5DR... I guess we can all make PSN accounts with CAGFT at the end of it or something....

MarkMan-CAGFT :)

Right now I use a few accounts, MarkMan (my normal ranked acct), MarkManSDT (my mess around account), and MarkMan23 another mess around account lol.

Anyone picking up Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 1? It shipped today so stores should have it tomorrow. I check Gamestops site and nothing came up. So I am contemplating if I should just order it online.

This is what I want... first decent video of it... best damn KoF ever IMHO...

King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match for PS2

Count me in the FT clan. :)

I have to get a good cheap bluetooth headset, anyone wanna recommend one?

edit: nevermind, just remembered I have one that came with my phone. durrrr...

I am in for a FT clan.

Any news on when T5 goes online in america? And how much the online is gonna cost extra?

All I have is the import version. Be warnned, the A.I. is very frustrating, even on Easy. The AI can pull off moves instantly even charging moves (think Guile's flashkick without ducking.)

The early FF games have this D,DF,F,UF motion that's very anoying to pull off. About 25% of the time you'll jump. Plus if I remember there's a slight time constraint on special moves. You must wait a second or two after doing a special move before you can perform one again.

Anyone remember the hidden topless Blue Mary defeat? However it's in FF: RB which is included FF Archive Vol.2

What's the best wall combo with Lily? I'm having a hard time getting anything worthwhile to hit.

and i'm down with a fighter thread clan. why not? also, i have Apossum's same question (anyone know where I can get a cheap bluetooth headset that's decent?).
i can't stop looking at apossum's new sig. Boing boing.
poor Andy saw his life flash before his eyes. hey, it's a small price to pay for a night with Mai

I need one as well, but I'm probably going to go with the Warhawk one since it's a decent price with the game and it's rechargeable via USB.

I'm not really interested in Warhawk so I need to find another solution.

Mmm... hentai club!

I have this feeling that T5DR: Online might replace all the other XBL fighting games all of us used to play.

Thanks for the KOF 98 Ultimate video Rolento. I can't wait for that shit to come out.

I'm using the Logitech Wired PS2 Headset for my PS3 right now. Is that too lame? :)

You guys need hookups on headsets? I can get MadCatz ones for really cheap, I mean it's madcatz, but cmon, better than paying for the full retail price of 53.99... ya know?

They work. :)

I'm have prizes lined up already for the initial T5DR CAG tourney... I won't be entering but n8nmonster will so watch out for him!

I have a bunch of EVO2006 3D DVDs, gonna have some headsets, maybe some sponsorship from Pelican for USB converters, we'll see what Namco can help out with as well... I can't throw one until the US one is out.

How cheap we talking here? (PM if it's some sort of secret.)

Also interested, please PM me if you're trying to keep it on the DL.

Man Lili is hella fun. She's been my new character to play around with.

Are there any better combos then the ones you posted a few pages ago Markman? It doesn't matter how hard they are to pull off. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Specifically, what should I be using off of a fully connected 3+4 (when it does the actual throw)? I've been doing F+2, 1+2 but I'm sure there is better. Also, off of a CH F,F+2 I've been doing D+1, 2, D+1, 2, 4. Anything better than that?

jimfoley16, those are both fine to do...

Myself, I do 3+4, d/f+3+4 and BT mixups... I don't really like the oki options off f+2,1+2....

There are a few tech catches that Lili has that are really fun, she has great wall catches too...

Another fun juggle to do is QCF+1, 1, QCF+1, 1,2, f+2,1+2 ....

I also like ending juggles with u/f+3+4, for example....

u/f+3, 2, b+2,1, u/f+3+4, (depending on how the opponent gets up), u/f+3+4 =

= From here you have a few options....

If they tech roll into the background, finish the u/f+3+4,3+4 and it will be a BT tech catch and they will eat TONS of damage... a good juggle to do after u/f+3+4,3+4 hits BT is QCF+1, 1,2, d+2,2,3 or whatever other juggle you like...

If they stay on the floor do BT d+3+4 to hit them on the ground....

If they tech into the foreground, do BT 1+2 for pressure, or if you want mixup that with BT d+3+4....

Mess around with it, it's pretty good... once you know they'll stop tech rolling just do u/f+3+4, (opponent lands), f,f+4, or some other move that hits OTG.

EDIT, we should get a CAG chatroom going on sometime, disscuss some Tekken gameplay etc :)

Oh yea, regarding headset prices... those that are fighting game thread regulars PM me, if I don't know you(or I don't see you post here regularly.... I'll probably ignore your PM)....

Thanks man. I like that u/f+3+4 tech catch from u/f+3. Hella damage, you weren't lying. Good look man. Could you drop some knowledge about her wall game? Anything helps.
Thanks man. I like that u/f+3+4 tech catch from u/f+2. Hella damage, you weren't lying. Good look man. Could you drop some knowledge about her wall game? Anything helps.
No prob... let's say your combo is going to lead into the wall... example you do d/f+2, 2, b+2,1, 1,2, ... you can do either u/f+3+4 | f+3+4 | or d/f+3+4 to jump over their body after they splat on the wall and if they tech roll at all(either direction), they should get hit by BT 1+2(or 1+2 if you did d/f+3+4) and then you can do a f,f+4 followup, super damage...

This video here has some good usage of Lili's flip over/jump over stuff with her canned moves...

(Asano is one of the top Lei/Xiaoyu players in Japan and he's playing against Hameko one of the old school Tekken players/Bryan pioneers...)

If you get a normal wall stun near the wall just do f+3+4, BT d+1 (it's guaranteed)....

Markman (or anybody)-- got any good beginner strats with Xiaoyu? The best combo I can do is this (hopefully I note it right): u,3 (side step sweep), d+2 (launching uppercut to backward stance), 2,2,2,1, then f+f +1+ 2, 1+2 (don't always land the cross chop hits.)

I want to learn more about her pokes that interrupt moves (the b+1, b+2 moves), as well as how to use rolls and cartwheels to evade and all that good stuff. I can't find a pattern to when you can dodge and when you can't.

also, I think you posted a vid a while back where you did uf+1+2, which bounced them on a counter, then you somehow stomped them with f+f+3+4...am I remembering that right? anyway, it looked damn cool :)

What the HELL do these mean? My head hurts...

haha, if we have a clan, we'll all have to get fluent in tekken notation. I barely know english as it is.

Here are a few combos for Xiaoyu's SS+3...

SS+3, b+3, RDS 2, RDS 2,1, f,f+1+2,1+2 (NOTE: This juggle angle is very strict, it has to be straight up or the ender/b+3 will whiff).

Here is a more consistent one...

SS+3, f,f+3, RDS 2, RDS 2,1, f,f+1+2,1+2 or you can do SS+3, f,f+3, RDS 2, RDS 2~2, RDS d+3 or RDS f,f+3 after it spikes them down on the ground...

Basically with Ling, you must have good knowledge of the other characters to be successful... know when you can AOP (d+1+2) and when you can use b+1 or b+2 to interrupt strings... She is a very tricky character and can be deadly in the right hands...

If you're going to use SS+3 and they end up blocking your sweep or crushing it a lot, mix it up.. SS 1+2 (same as 1+2 but with a SS) is really good... after it hits on normal hit 4~3 flip is guaranteed and does a good chunk of damage.

Xiaoyu's main whiff(when the miss a move in front of you) punisher is d/f+2~1... after you land d/f+2~1 go for the following juggle:

d/f+2~1, 1,d+2, RDS 2, RDS 2,1, f,f+1+2,1+2

If you're not used to the dash required to land XMTS(X Marks The Spot/f,f+1+2,1+2) in juggles, you should go for this combo instead:

d/f+2~1, 1,d+2, RDS 2, RDS 2~2, RDS d+3

If you use AOP as a mixup on people make sure you use AOP 4~3 low sweep and AOP u/f+3 (launches on hit)... You can even make AOP u/f+3 safe by doing u/f+3,1 or u/f+3,4 if you know your opponent is going to block it...

Pressure with SS+4 and d+4 (generic low kick) and throw out f,f+3~B a lot... on CH f,f+3,4 is gauranteed and leads to a meaty juggle opportunity...

I'd be able to show you this online when you guys get it, I can explain it on paper but it's probably much better visually...

where were u a few threads back when I started playing tekken?!?!

Markman and Kain Zero were hookin it up with the mad strats!

I personally use a lot of mixup game with xiaoyu, most playing in RDS stance.

d/f + 1 and f , f + 3 are great pokes for getting into RDS (Rain Dance / Back turned) stance.

from there u got good options u can use, but for now jus practice using a poking and spacing game together.

u needa be comfortable with moving around and stuff before u try to actually hit your opponent

Markman-- thanks, I'm going to put all that to good use. :)

I saw the CPU use the SS+3, b+3 starter, but I have no idea how to time that b+3. part of that is that I can't practice it, argh (this practice mode better get here on 8/16!!!)

Jekki-- yeah, I have to yet to really figure out how to use rain dance without getting immediately punished. I sometimes get lucky where I can side step and get them with that horse kick (i forget the notation-- where she bucks her legs out, but lands back in rain dance) or an elbow. but that's due to the CPU being dumb.

I'm looking forward to playing real people. There's a DR machine about 20 minutes away from where I am, but it's all snotty teenagers playing...literally not a single down to earth person, all way better than me too. and I hate spending money on tokens when I have the real thing for free :)

don't worry. It becomes second knowledge once you start playing people for a bit.

oh and Jim, I'm expecting a mean ass Jack5...

I still don't know my main, but I'll be initially playing Jack5, Dragunov, and Kaz... my Kaz sucks alot more than it use to though... I have some shitty combos with him.

some good news for you arcade stick lovers:

the Wii hori arcade stick is coming stateside this November for $49.99... not bad.

also, the VF5 360 stick is out this week, so get it if you have no DoA4 stick.

I haven't played J5 in a long time, but I used to be vicious with my man. I should still do well though.

And I think I'm going to pick up a Virtua Fighter Stick, unless someone can confirm that the SSF2T:HD stick is still on schedule to come out... I haven't heard about it in sooooo long.

Yea the SSF2HD stick is still coming out, probably in limited quantities though... I'll answer everyone's PM tomm.... going to be in Los Angeles the next few days to play some upcoming PS3s at Sony's media event... :)

JEKKI or kainzero, do you guys know of any import gaming shops in the Santa Monica/Burbank area other than Hyper Game Action?

I know of one in the downtown L.A. area, but it's not as great as HGA. they have a limited selection from the current generation, but have a good selection of older titles for the dreamcast, saturn, super famicom and... i think ps1.

and speaking of downtown, I found myself a nice little arcade over here on 3rd and Alameda. I checked it out with some buddies, and loved seeing NGBC and KOF XI machines set up by each other. oh but that wasn't the best part... the best part was... PROJECT JUSTICE in a big ol' screen! so I began the day with kyosuke , kyoko and roy... that terry bogard lookin fool. i like almost completely forgot how to play that game.

yeah so after awhile, I played some sf3 and was surprised to see some competition heading my way. a mini crowd just gathered and when I turned around i was like wtf?! well, i got 7 wins before i was dethroned by an awesome dudley.

oh adn house of the dead 4 is a fun FUN game
in all honesty, that link is a real no brainer. if u can land it once, you would have no reason to ever practice it.

another good one is CH ss+4, f,f+3, RDS standard juggles.

as markman said, ss+4 is a good pressure move, especially since ss+3 will leave u open for rape if blocked or whiffed.

damn tho, I gotta play me sum tekken again!!

markmang>> solly yo, I donno any import shops anywhere, I remember there was this on in Little Tokyo (Banzai anime??) that I got Christmas Nights from tho! also a lot of used jpop cds!
