first party Wii component cables up now on Nintendo's store![BACKORDERS NOW SHIPPING]
What could be bad about getting 3rd party Component cables
Well, in the case of the Mad Catz cables, they're twice as expensive and probably half as good... since Mad Catz seems to be the absolute worst hardware company in the industry.
can someone explain to me the deal with confirmation numbers. Do they have some bearing on when you will receive your cables? My order number is: 3451348. What does that mean?
It means that a winner is you... I think. If I'm understanding it right, if the last 4 digits are below 3000, you probably got the cables. You can check on Nintendo's store site though.

Awesome. That's good news. It sucks I probably won't be able to get them until later next week.

ordered just now. front page says it won't ship until end of november. oh well, i'm in no rush. thank you CAG.

If I just placed the order, how long before it shows up in my my.nintendo.com profile?
It says order was placed but when I go check, it says I have no orders on file. Thanks.

It took about 5 minutes before mine showed up on the "My Orders" page.

My wife had a succinct commentary on Nintendo's handling of the component cable situation and the exorbitant price we're forced to pay to have them by launch:

"They suck for exploiting your Wii hard-on."

Nintendo isn't profiting from the shipping charges are they? I'm pretty sure that those of us who opted for RED are paying a premium price to UPS, not to Nintendo... although $30 for video cables still ain't exactly cheap.
Has anyone that ordered the cables with UPS RED (overnight) actually received a tracking # yet?
Not I, not I. Not yet, anyway.

If the speculation is true that UPS Blue orders are being given priority, then wow, that sucks for those of us who forked over the extra cash for UPS Red, huh.
So mine's showing in the UPS tracking system: Friday delivery:)
Mine's showing up in the UPS system now too, but no delivery date yet.

Keep trying, you'll get in...eventually.

Although the cables are backordered now--not sure if everyone will want to wait for online at this point.
Still wondering why $29.99 for official Component cables is expensive with Microsoft sells them for $39.99.
Cause we only get 480p out of it rather than 720p/1080i ;)

They have both component, composite, and optical audio integrated in a single cable.

Allright, so IGN says that the component cables were soldout as of this afternoon and sure enough... I checked my order status and it says it's on backorder.

Someone help me! What else are my options? I'm desperate to have Zelda look it's best this weekend... I've waited too long. Is there someplace I can get some generic cables or something by launch day???

So what the hell, why did all the 1-day shipping ones not ship yet? Has anyone who paid extra for 1 day had it shipped yet? I am calling and asking for a refund on shipping once mine is here.

Wrong. The Wii uses good old Pro Logic II just like the Game Cube. PLII is delivered through the standard RCA type cables No optical DTS or DD for Wii.

Whoah. Whoah. I am totally confused. Can someone explain to me why I need one of these?

I have a plasma HD TV. Do I need these to get an HD experience? Also can someone tell me if these cables get hooked directly into my TV. My TV is mounted on the wall and it is going to be a pain in the arse to do all of this.

I agree.

You need them to get 480p video. If you have a plasma, you want these. And yes, they need to plug into your tv in some way or another.

You won't get an 'HD experience' from the Wii at all as it's maximum resolution is 480p. But in order to run it in 480p and also with image quality that won't look like total arse on your HDTV you need component cables.
No it will not or vice versa.
I was ready to get one if it did..Does the SNES/N64/GC AV Cables work on the Wii

He was talking about the 360 cable that costs $10 more having all that stuff. Not the wii cable.

Hey, WTF. Don't ignore me. Does anyone know of any other launch day options? It looks like my order is on backorder and I just want to know if I have anything else I can do.

Several stores have listed 3rd party component cables including those by React and Psyclone, it's just a matter of whether or not they will be available on launch day.

Yes, places like Best Buy seem to have a couple of different third party cables. That's going to be pretty much your only other option if you want one on launch day.
So what the hell, why did all the 1-day shipping ones not ship yet? Has anyone who paid extra for 1 day had it shipped yet? I am calling and asking for a refund on shipping once mine is here.
Dude, I'm in the same boat as you are, but I doubt if they'll be giving refunds to the people who paid for 1 day shipping. Check the shipping information from Nintendo's site. Total shipping time, including time to process the order, may take 2-3 business days. I know it sucks that they're giving priority to the slower methods right now, but as long as we get our cables by Friday then I don't think they'll honor a refund on shipping.

That doesn't mean, however, that I'm not still hoping that I'll at least be able to be refunded the difference in price between overnight and 2nd day shipping. I'm just not holding my breath over it is all.

So there WILL be another option on launch day? or is these also going to not be available until december? I can't seem to find any confirmation other than 3rd party cables that come out next month.

Oh, and sorry for the abbreviated F bomb earlier. I was worked up over my order not going through.

As far as I know, these are going to be avialable on launch day. They are the React and Griffin brand component cables. If these were rumored to not get in until mid-December, I don't see why Best Buy would bother putting up the pricing for these two cables in the Wii section. They're not going to leave those spaces empty for almost an entire month.
is there any difference in the the third party cables vs. nintendo except the name?
The name and the quality. And also, if you buy a 3rd party product for your Wii and it damages it, you basically have voided your warranty from repair. They'll only fix it if it was damage from a first party product.
