Forza Motorsport 3 - Out Now!

I watched this at Microsoft's Press Conference and then I watched Need for Speed Shift with EA's Press Conference. I just kept on saying why are they going into the racing direction, this looks just like GRID, and why would they try to compete with the powerhouse of Forza lol.

Probably gonna get shafted big time like I did with FM2, but I'm gonna have to cave and get it on day 1. Probably get shafted on the DLC cars too like last time, but I'll probably cave there too...

400+ cars and 100+ tracks (probably a lot of variants in there, but whatever) + real time damage make this a day one for me.

With this and gran tursimo 5 I'll be set.

I've enjoyed both previous Forza games definitely favourite "realist" racing game. However as time goes by they just get so boring and repetitive. Hopefully this will fix that.

I have one small problem though, apparently some guys from Bizzare that worked on the PGR games are working on Forza 3 and it definitely shows. It looks a little too arcadey for me hopefully it won't be when released.
I now have 4000+ pts so I'm ready for the DLC ripoffs.
Well, if you already have to points to buy the DLC that will probably be released shortly after the game, that will send them the message that those ripoffs are a good idea, as they are right now :p.

I didn't buy any DLCs for Forza 2, and I don't plan to buy any for Forza 3 either. I don't really care that much for new cars... . The only thing I'd be interested on would be new "Track/Circuit Packs". However, they'd probably screw it up and sell one track per a time or something like that.

Asking for tracks would be like asking for the world, They didn't do it the first time and I'm not holding my breath this time. Unfortunately being a car guy I'm going to be a sucker and get the DLC cars just like last time... Then I can watch them come out with the game + all the DLCs for $20 again...

I just found out that Forza 3 will have the Saab Turbo X in it. Awesome. Even though I never play the copy of Forza 2 that came with my system I might just have to buy this one anyway.

From Joystiq :

Pretty cool !

Oh wow...I'm tempted by those Forza avatar items. Looking forward to getting together with the old Forza 2 race crew when this comes out. Some of the best online racing to be had out there.

Here's hoping for 50/50 Achievements this time. Only thing that held me up was the 1,000,000 credits last game. Anyone else considering the LE at GameStop? I can't decide which one I want to go with. I have the regular also pre-ordered at Amazon as well just in case.

Ouch.. is that covered under the warranty? I'm assuming not... ?

If it makes u feel any better seem like my Monitor is having troubles getting though this summer...

^Well, that revived my feeling about this game a little.

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed some how at least after the demo. There's something... different about the physics and then it doesn't seem like they did anything with damage. I know that last one shouldn't be an issue, but we're getting to the point where they really could be improving it and getting more towards realism.

The demo just ruined NFS Shift for me. I know they're not the same type of racing game, but the cars on the track in Forza are just buttery smooth. Wish I knew what parameters they have the controller set to so I can transfer them across to other racing games. Still love the way the cars handle more than GT5. Only thing I can think of that GT has over this are the different race types and licenses. The car interiors are also more fleshed out letting you look around, but I like the zoomed in view better in Forza.H

My buddy was playing the demo while I cleaned the house and he loved it. He said he liked it more than Shift cause Shift was just missing something, he couldn't quite put his finger on it, but something was missing. Once he told me that the Trans Am was in it, I was like.....Automatic buy. I also love interior view. I can't wait for it honestly!

Game is fucking gorgeous. Gameplay seemed not so much different from Forza 2 but I wasn't expecting it to.

It's a shame I still haven't played much of Forza 2. I'm more of a PGR person.

The cockpit view was a bit disappointing after playing a bunch of NFS Shift. It feels a bit too sterile and lifeless, like I'm in a vacuum while driving the car with a robot. There's not much of a sense of speed and the camera is virtually motionless in crashes, so crashing into a wall or hitting someone has much less of an effect than it should. It's not a killer, as it's still a good cockpit view compared to the other games I've played. The windshields don't even crack in a crash.

It seems like Forza 3 will be a really good game with a ton of content. I just got Forza 2 a week or so ago and the demo wasn't good enough to make me want to get that right away, so I'll probably get it at $30-$40 once I've gotten through Forza 2 first unless something changes.

Game seemed pretty awesome from the demo, not sure I want to drop $60 on it but it looked fantastic and the driving itself was sublime.

Granted there is really no consequences when you crash in Forza 3 (which I thought was cool in shift), but IRL when your going 120.....your vision does not get blurred or weird at all. I would know literally cause I can get my car up to 120 on the track and my vision doesn't get all whacked out. I also love how if you put it on simulation and fuck up your gearbox, you can hear it grinding gears when you shift. Something small, but yet something I like. Day One Purchase for me. :D

I am not trying to flame this game but I was disappointed from the demo and lost some of the excitement, the game was just hyped too much in terms of detail, graphics and gameplay. Having the name FORZA 3 on it will help it sell but it does not look as good as it was supposed to be, textures of the cars in races arent great, neither are the tracks. Cockpit view doesnt give me a sense of speed as much as I'd like.

I understand this is supposed to be a semi sim racer but I do like the dynamics of SHIFT a lot better which is exciting to race, rewind function should not be in there either...no consequences (I understand why it's in there but I dont want to be tempted and it changes the way I drive).

Do I think it's going to be a good game? Yes! But it will not be the 'best racing game of this generation' as turn 10 was QUOTED as...IMHO.

Really hoping this demo compares like the Batman demo which looked bad after playing the amazing full version, same with DIRT 2.

Everybody keeps saying the "Sense of speed". So I will ask this question, how many of you have been in a car going 120? The only difference is the scenery. It's not like Shift or movies make you think it is honestly. That's IMHO.

I know the cars I will be using mostly, 2010 Camaro SS. (buddy has one and i love it. I wonder if it will handle the same in the game) and of course a 2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (Car I've been working on for four mounths). So yes, two cars are going to make me buy this game. Plus the ton of other cars. I can't wait honestly.

Damage was disappointing as was expected, but seriously, when I ram into the wall at 150, my front end should be garbage...instead, the car limps away and there's a lot of scraps and shit all over. Oh, and that cracked windshield doesn't carry over to the cockpit view :( Really, it just looks like a prettier Forza 2. The first couple of races (used the Porsche and Audi) were fun, with a good soundtrack, but by the 3rd or 4th race, it was as if I was playing Forza 2 again. Seems like it will get rather boring quickly.

Except that there is a sensation you feel that isn't easily represented in games, which Shift does a good job of capturing.

It is still a video game, meaning the feeling you get when going 120 mph or whatever is certainly not the same then let's say going 65 on I-95...

I have driven cars at speed around a race track and the gut feeling you receive from 'racing' obviously cannot be simulated through a game to 'feel' it physically so doing it visually is a nice way to show you - hey something freakin' exciting is happening, pay attention to the road...'
