If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.

You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.
There is a deal (which I'm sure has been posted elsewhere on this site) to get a free year of ECA. It's listed in the Game Informer magazine that just came out! :D

Just use the code 'GIMAG' at checkout (although, Credit card info still needs to be given). :) I may try it, but seems like you guys aren't too happy with those that get it free. :(

Hope this helps someone though! :)
They are definitely still stacking for 20% off. Anyone try a triple stack?
Can you explain in a noob friendly way how to do this? I read somewhere you have to cancel an order that has the 10% off from the code and get it again in goldbox and apply a new code to get a combined 20%. Is that it? What are the chances that not working? I have games from 2010 and could do that on those.
They are definitely still stacking for 20% off. Anyone try a triple stack?
I still had one code left in my Amazon account from the last batch (gave rest away to peeps here...saving this last one in case COD:MW2 appears in my GB. Since it was already registered in my account, but not yet used, out of curiosity I tried stacking it with one of the newest codes and it didn't work. It just overwrote the last one I had sitting in the account.
Oh man, please don't abuse this and ruin it for everyone.
I know seriously, it's like beating a blind man. Some of you guys are really pathetic, like the 10 or 20% isn't enough. And then you people try to justify it as it's a flaw in their system and that's not your fault. You're all pathetic and like I said, it's like beating a blind man, you should be ashamed in yourselves.Let it be heard. And how the hell would you use 3 codes? You're brainless.

Hey Smiley real fucking cool man, go waste some more fucking codes. This behavior is disgusting. Do what you want to, but mods shouldn't be allowing these people who admittedly do some of this bullshit.

I have a question:

I have a order with Borderlands/Arkham Asylum in it. (Arkham has obviously already shipped.)

Can I cancel the Borderlands part of the order and get that portion of the $30 trade-in code back?
They are definitely still stacking for 20% off. Anyone try a triple stack?
They don't triple stack, but it's worse for abuse this time. Anyone who hoarded the 1st wave codes can now double-dip for every new code generated until they run out of old codes. I'm really not sure what's going on, but they're shooting themselves in the foot by generating stackable codes. I honestly hope they come up with multi-use codes tied to your account soon or this deal is going to be dead come winter.

Yes, it will show up for your next purchase immediately.

First of all, take your attitude elsewhere. If anything, I only invalidated an old code. Two, before you call me disgusting...I've been here helping paying members with codes while they were out so they could take advantage of sales that were in their Gold Box. I don't see you here helping anyone...only coming here and running your fucking mouth like a little bitch.

So if you would kindly fuck off...it would be much appreciated.

My understanding is that Amazon applies the promo to the first item that ships, so you wouldn't be able to get it by re-ordering the second item. I think the only way for that to work is if all items in the order were canceled prior to shipment.

This is the most ridiculous argument. Amazon chooses to give out these codes and has done so for a long time. Amazon knows their own profit margin's and I'm sure they have considered them when providing codes to ECA. As we now have seen, Amazon has the ability to limit them to one per account or not and in the past they have chosen not to do so. There is no mistake taking place on Amazon's part and I'm sure they are enjoying the added business or they would stop the promo. I'm glad we are all being advised on Amazon's behalf by a CAG accountant, but I fail to see the point.
I'm more specifically an external auditor and I have clients as diverse as private hedge funds to Fortune 100 public companies., so you have NO IDEA how laughable the concept of big companies not making mistakes is from my perspective. I just find it hilarious some people can't accept the fact that sometimes the deals they are getting are so good the companies offering them are probably on the losing end. The fuzzy math justifications are funny though. In any case, the ECA has probably made a fatal mistake with this promotion. Seriously, how could any sane person running the ECA not see how the internet won't abuse the hell out of this until it's dead? Like sticking a bloody fish in a lake full of piranhas.

All I know is I'm shopping even more @amazon now and am probably spending a little more than I normally would have, even with the promo.

If you do something good for someone and more than 2 people know about it, you didn't do it for the right reasons.

Ahh, oh well. Anyways, Borderlands is now $60 instead of $54 when I pre-ordered it. I'd lose savings by re-ordering it now.

$54.00 - $5.40 = $48.60.
$60 - $6 = $54.00.

=/

if you want to see what the mods would do you should say that to io :bouncy:

but I don't think you'd get the result you want

As long as codes are available, it's not a waste.

I think it's safe to assume everyone is going to horde a few extra codes until this whole ECA/Amazon thing finally gets completely back on track

I believe io and many other mods will see that post, as they see most posts. Good one. I got the message across that I wanted and that's the result I want more than anything. Thanks though.

You need codes from the old batch (the ones that seem to all start with "L") to stack with newer "J" codes. The reason people were talking about canceling orders was likely because, unless you hoarded the previous codes or have them already placed but unused in your Amazon cart, the easiest way to get one of the older codes was to cancel an order where you used one so you could apply it to a new purchase.

yes but I'm guessing you somehow didn't read this
Yeah, I think it's time for all this bickering to end. (Consider that an offical CAG mod warning in case it isn't clear ;))

Let's not forget the main reason the codes ran out is because of all THE FREE MEMBERSHIPS. That caused a huge influx of new people generating codes AND resulted in many people who paid to join generating multiple codes in anticipation of shortages. I'm sure the new members generating codes greatly outnumbered the paid members who found out about the free membership in time to generate extras (just a guess of course).

Yes, I did generate a few myself from the regular batch right after the membership became free (which are not one-time use codes) because I knew the codes would get depleted (though I was surprised it took less than a day) and I wanted to lock in several orders before the codes expire at the end of Sept. So, yeah, I took about 5. I've used 2 already and have 3 other games I want to preorder with the remaining ones but I'm waiting for them to show up in my gold box quick picks. I'll start using them regardless as we get close to the end of the month.

I really don't think very many people have done more than this (as always, there are exceptions of course and I'm sure some idiot grabbed 50 of them). It was perfectly within our right (and within the terms on the ECA site) to get multiples. We were allowed one per order, and were allowed to generate another code if needed. I wasn't even aware it was cool with the ECA people to share them with family and friends. I haven't even done that myself, though I have applied them to my wife's account (but really, it's me making those orders and playing the games ;)). I thought maybe that was somewhat iffy but after seeing those quotes I feel a lot better about that.
personally like io and smiley I generated a few extra codes because I wait for games to show up in my goldbox and didn't want to risk something like the Demon's Soul LE showing up and not being able to make a code

so just layoff, those of us who generated some extra codes (but nothing extreme as io mentioned) aren't why the codes have gone down twice over the past week

So since I am not interested in any new release games, and I only get the 10% from new games off Amazon, I guess this means I am SOL. The new Amazon prices of older games are just so much higher than the used that the 10% isn't even worth it.

Lol, now taking bets that the next wave of codes triple stack. . .

oh I c. Oh well. Only got the J ones. Never L codes.

Also some of you keep saying ppls are selling them on ebay but they aint. Whats up with that?

Preordered Assassin's Creed II for $45.59+tax. Also it comes with a $10 credit, which basically makes the game $35.59+tax for a brand new release!

Well I stocked up on codes since I am a paying member and missed out on a few gold box deals the past week when the codes were all used up. Now I am prepared this time.

Just curious (and no, I'm not going to hoard more than 1 code), but after I generate a code, will it show up for someone else? I want to throw it into a notepad file to save for later use and avoid one of the SD douches from grabbing them all.

No, it will not. If you only want to save one code, then just generate one and let it sit.

Exactly, they aren't being sold on ebay anymore, it was for like the first 2 days, but they all want to continue thinking it's being done.

My problem is not with people who pickup 5 codes that they'll use. It's the people who are going to burn 4 codes on 2 purchases or people who are just wasting codes like some of these other people. Also people now trying to find a way to triple stacking them, as long as you're only using 1 per order and not abusing a faulty system, I have no problem. Trying to use 3 codes is just like beating a blind man, it's people who didn't even pay for ECA. I thought this site was about getting the best deals, not about stealing from a company and looking for exploits.

Pre-ordered ACII as well. Was initially interested but the $10 GC with ECA convinced me to pick it up.

Also pre-ordered Mod Racer Nation for next year. Glad the codes are working again!

Question: So Mod Racer Nation is listed at the full $60. If Amazon drops the price, does the 10% apply to the original $60 or to the newly lowered price?

it'll adjust to whatever the lowest price is

so if they drop it eventually to $56.99 like a lot of preorders on Amazon end up at you'll get $5.70 off instead of $6

I'm fairly sure that it applies the 10% to the newer price.

Stacking multiple ECA codes is a good way to fuck up the program (even if it is their mistake).

It's like beating on the ECA which is the exact opposite of why people should join the ECA, it's  & at the same time.

I would have preorderd AC II but they aren't taking preorders on the limited editions, so I preordered The Force Unleashed instead.

Unless they recently changed this, that is not true. Once you lock in the discount, a price drop should not lower it. However, a gold box discount does recalculate.
