If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.

You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.
Of course its not good to wait a while. I was saying that instead of constantly calling up Amazon reps, just spend a day and then reorder tomorrow, its a small risk tho I know.

I had a bunch of games preordered and I'm going to wait for my next GB refresh to reorder them. I just kept UC2, AC2, MW2, and GOW3 (3 of those have gift cards).

I think its smart to put all non-giftcard games in another order so that if I have to I could cancel, reorder using the giftcards (provided Amazon still allows stacking), and not lose my ECA codes due to shipping.

Can anyone confirm if the 50% off a video game coupon still works if I cancel a preorder to apply it to a different game? Very nervous to lose it otherwise!

Don't do it, I've read recently it does not save into your account.. the 50% coupon that is.

I did read of one person who said that, but then on the 2nd October I read a guy whom it worked for. Definitely not risking it until I hear more confirmations one way or the other!

Thanks for the warning, though. I will restrain myself. :)

i wouldnt do it now.. seems like people are losing their discounts..Unless you want to be the guinea pig;)

Man out of nowhere I get the itch to get MW2. Dont know why. I think its do to the 30% I can get off it. Im planning to get a few games soon and now I want that game too! Sucks because I hate Activision with all their crap they are doing. But then again MW2 will be a game that wont drop in price for a long time and its a great game too so why not take advantage right? Darn it. Also I was hoping to get it so that the $10 credit would get added to GOW Collection but that game comes out on the same day!(so it wont apply it)

What do you guys advise? Also when you get credited after a game ships, does that credit go to your main account or does it get discount on your next order on queue automatically?(meaning on preorders about to release)

Yeah I already lost one of my $10 promotional codes when I canceled Gran turismo 5 preorder to pick up Assassin's Creed :( I'm bummed about that, that's for sure... :( :(

I had to jump through hoops and talk to the bosses boss to get a $75 credit applied to my account to make up for losing the 50% discount when i canceled my COD4 Prestige order, it took about 40 minutes on the phone,...but in the end it ended up being well worth it since i was able to triple stack the ECA codes so i made one big order to take full advantage

COD4 Prestige edition
Pinball Hall of fame
Lego Indy jones 2

Wii New Super Mario
Wii Pet shop Friends
Wii Toy Story
Wii Press your luck
Wii Sports resort with 2 MotionPlus
Wii Fit

total of $276.xx (actually it would be $201 since Wii Fit is going back to bestbuy) plus if i count the $20 in future gift credits it almost comes to "buy prestige edition and get 7 games free"

without discounts it would have been $534.xx

Couple questions:

KEEP IN MIND I ONLY HAVE 2 OLD ECA CODES

1. I have GOW3 in a 20% off order w/ GB and today my GB is Heavy Rain and Agent. Is there a way to use my other code for 20% off Heavy Rain and Agent and then combine the orders and get one of my codes back? But its only penny change so if its risky of course I will cancel and make one big order with just Heavy Rain/Agent GB.

2. If I make one giant order, once UC2, MW2, and AC2 ship I will have $25 in gift cards - if I email amazon will they add the codes to the SAME ORDER and take money off another game like Heavy Rain? Or will it have to be in another order?

Therefore, should I just make a new order with Heavy Rain, Agent, and the 10 other games I wanna lock in for preorder and keep my UC2, MW2, AC2, GOW3 order - essentially using up my 2 old codes

or

should I make a giant order and save a code.
Your codes are gone.
is this confirmed? Crap i think i messed up.

One of the items on my order shipped yesterday.

Confirmed - yes.

Once something from the order ships, the codes are exhausted and cannot be reused.

Hi, I'm new to the ECA code stacking...

How are people getting multiple codes (and *saving* them)? Do you just log into your ECA account and generate a new code? If so, doesn't the older code expire after 24 hours? I'm confused.

1. You can not combine them. I would say cancel gow III and re-order with the two new gold box additions today OR, try to get a lot of items once in your goldbox(like 4+ in one day) and do it that way if you reallllly want to squeeze everything out of this that you can.

2. You can e-mail them to apply for another order and have decent success with that I think. On the same order, I have absolutely no idea, but figure that hurts your chances.

3. That only saves you the 5% discount on one item but uses up your only other code, right? I'd choose to make it one giant order personally.

Hmm already applied my $5 credit from the Uncharted 2 to another preorder. Wonder what'll happen to it if I cancel it and reorder with the ECA discount. Probably should just leave it as is.
Is it now an exact 24 hours before I can generate a new code or is it as soon as the day changes anyone know?
i believe you have to wait 24 hours

Huh? The Uncharted 2 credit isn't supposed to be applied to your account until after the game ships, and it doesn't come out for another week yet. How did you get it already?

It won't do anything I did this with my Uncharted 2 preorder to use the $5 credit from UC2 on UC2 lol.

Lot of people got it early for some reason. Pretty sure it was a mistake by Amazon.

I had something get messed up when I first registered. I don't remember the exact details but I didn't pay when I registered, and after that I couldn't get the option to pay to show up and in the end just wound up making another account, which worked fine. Not sure if that's the same issue you are having but if all else fails just register again.

where do the credits from amazon good towards future purchases of games show up? i preordered nba 2k10 which has a 10 dollar credit and it shipped today (i realize that i will probably not receive it today). I am just wondering where to look for it at and how to apply it to a future game. thanks :)

I no longer see the Amazon.com code generator when I go to the Members Area of the ECA website. Anyone else? Did they move it?

Same as any order. On the last page of the checkout process, there is a box were you can place codes like gift cards or promotions. Place the ECA code there. If your order already shipped or is placed, its too late to place the ECA code (you might email CS but that's extremely YMMV).

Glad I got the year free memberships for me and the wife last night. I set up codes on both of our Amazon accounts in anticipation of ordering stuff; I'm glad I took the time to do all of that stuff.

Looks like the Amazon section is up actually.

Aye, neither can I. That's pretty concerning.

Ugh... I had a code saved on my account (on the site), and now it isn't there when Super Mario Galaxy 2 pops into my goldbox. ugh... fml

Erm . . . weird. I'm still seeing it, same place as always.

I can still see it where it's always been (using Firefox).

Just got word from the ECA that Amazon has asked them to remove the current batch of codes due to the stacking. People still seeing the link are probably getting it from cache(?).

This should answer the question about if stacking is OK or not.

Fairly surprised they let it last this long. Though I doubt they'll be mass cancelling people's pre-orders (since it seems they just appear as "Promotion Applied") they seemed to be silent, or at least void of publicly known action, for quite a while.

I also wonder how widespread this problem actually was. I know that quite a few CAGs were in the know, but I never saw one word about it on the ECA forums.

And I was waiting and hoping you'd post to clear things up. Thanks for keeping us up to date so often Justin!

So wait, wait, wait. . .is there a new batch of codes to try stacking with LOL?!

Sweet! I pre-ordered MW2 last week using 2 older codes. When I realized I could still use another new code on top of that, I stacked it to pre-order Uncharted 2, GT5, FFXIII, and MW2.

This beats the hell out of TRU B2G1 sale because of no tax and I don't have to worry about any placeholders. :)

Hm, nope, I cleared my cache and I'm still seeing it. I was able to get it to give me a new code, too (I've been keeping track of my codes as I use them, and I haven't seen this one before).

Not surprised if that's happening, though. I could see them not noticing it or bothering to do anything if people only stacked for a single item or two, but too many people were getting greedy and doing orders where the discount was totaling into the hundreds of dollars. That was bound to get noticed.
