Yes, you can still play it but its way easier with one. I just picked up a nice Gameshark SharkBoard ( I Think its called that ) from Gamestop for only 9.99. I can be used with PS, Xbox, Xbox 360, and GC. Very cool for 10 bills.
 
hmmm, installing now. it's cool they included the chains of promanthia. I quit like 1 week after it came out. Problem is tho that most of the extra stuff requires high lvl anyway haha. I never even finished Zilart o_O....
I had 1 more mission to go =( But yeah I never reached Sky either.

Oh yeah I did like 2 zilart missions haha.....

Man, getting gil again is really really really gonna suck. I guess I could camp spiny and waste my time hahaahahaha........ sad

Anyway errrrrr I'll be starting mithra Thf in windy probably.

But to tell you the truth this game requires a crapload of time to get anywhere.

just thinking about dying and running away from aggros and aggro trains gives me a headache =/

Same graphics, but with higher resolution (HDTV) and Dolby 5.1 sound.

Still have the Adventurer Coupon, am I suppose to give it to one of the icons that has a red mark? Like the axe one. I have no f'ing clue what to do with it.

I really wouldnt worry about it. Its only worth 50 gil and thats not alot of money. Just go out and fight. Before you go out though get a signit from the TK or whatever dude standing near the gate to leave your home town. This will enable you to collect Crystals from enemies you fight. Then sell any items at the auction house to make money.
 
well hit lvl 5, sucks as usual for thief. No good WS' till viperbite so I have to use sword.

mmmmm this port is incredibly disspointing. I didn't expect new graphics but a little bit of live intergration would have been much appreciated. they should at least let you look up people's gamertags and aync it with XBL. This whole port seems halfassed to me honestly.

With 1080i the text is unreadable with my 30" WS in 1080i. I have to bump it down to 480p to read the text. My HP/MP bar is smaller then my thumb. Impossible to read the # near impossible to see if the bar is full with out going to the status screen.

I have a 36" HDTV and I'm playing this game in 1080i and like others have said, the text is barely readable unless I'm close to the TV. Fortunately I can still make out what is on the screen, but this appears to be an issue that would need fixing before the final release.
 
Just picked up the the magazine at my local Gamestop. I was looking for a USB Keyboard as well, but they didn't have anything. So I stopped by an EBGames on the way home and picked up the Logitech USB Keyboard (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2282,CONTENTID=6636) I was surprised that it was only $19.99

Anyhow I haven't played a true MMORPG since I was an avid player of Ultima Online about 6 or 7 years ago. Any experienced players have any newbie tips and tricks?

oh yeah remember to get signet from your local gateguard. U get crystals u can sell. Thats how u make most of your money initially.

When you'r starting from 60 gil, I think crystals work just fine.

Of course fire cyrstals at my time were 2000 for 12.
the reason why it's so low is because not as many crafters. Prob a good time to craft then. But then again the whole economy is deflated.

Selling crystals on the AH will help yiou get started with some starting items

Yep, When I started last year they were at 2000 for 12 fire. Now 12 fire cost like 500. Yea thats it also no crafters out there. I wonder if I should stock now and sell high later.

Crafting sucks in this game because you need to down more money than you make to build up skill. You don't turn a profit till much much later. and i'm talking about like lvl 90 crafting for a specific skill. Cooking is prob the cheapest one.

this poison is really frickin annoying...... I should have never started in windhurst. It takes down half of your health and lo and behild there's no way to fix it unless you're a whm or have one nearby. stupid stupid square enix. No woner WOW is kicking htier asses Dyring without any enemies nearby is so cool =p.

hehe it's ok, lvl 7 thf now. Game is really getting tiresome though. Walking around/waiting seems to remind me of why I quit the game. Also I guess it's not quite as fun the 2nd time around. Very little motivation for questing. I hope for all you people who plan to play in the long run that they actually add a bit of live intergration though I doubt it.

but yeah this poison is rediculous from a easy prey crawler the poison lasted long enough to take off 80HP...... and soloing that at this lvl that will kill you

At meijer, i got myself a Logtech USB wireless keyboard/mouse combo for $39. The wireless works great, just don't know if I will be able to use a mouse in the future :)
 
Shipwreck and myself played today. Let me tell you that the voice chat is the best thing to happen to this game. Even though they aren't keeping it in the full version. Sooo sad.

I picked up a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse for $28 at Target on sale. I don't know if the price is still good, but it's probably the same model since it was normally priced $40.

I'm pretty sure I added you to my friends list on FFXI though. You'll have to forgive me as I often miss stuff that goes by in the text boxes. As I've stated before, the text is extremely small on my TV. Message me again though and I'll get back to you.
 
I've been playing it. It's decent, but very dated. Not only is it not WoW, it's not even EQOA. Stiff death penalities should be long forgotten, conning things is a complete bitch, and there are WAY too goddamned NPCs to talk to, among other problems, but hell, at least it's free. Honestly though, there is no way I would buy or pay to play this, without a severe overhaul, which I just don't see coming. The ability to changes classes is awesome though, as is the player housing, which EQII ripped off pretty directly. And dammit, every MMO should have chocobos.
 
I ran into Shipwreck, and Cyrril yesterday. Now have both added to my friends list. Could everyone interested in a linkshell part with say 500 gil? I asked Cyrril yesterday and he said we weren't even close yet. I see all of the Sandy people will be able to get one easily but until someone can ride a choco I don't know how we would get the link pearl to the people in Windy, and Bastok.

Sandy fell to 3rd this week in the rankings, there isn't much available in the shops now. :(

Ahhh thats why there are hardly anything in the stores. Yea A LinkShell will cost 8K. I'm tring to keep my guy up to date with the latest armor but also tring to afford this shell. Also Im pretty sure I can just send the linkshell to the people in Windy or Bastok from the lady near the auction house. I wn't be on much this week maybe an hour here or there just to do some solo leveling. I also switch my job from Warrior to Theif. Being a tank isn't fun IMO.
 
well I just noticed they have some new CP items that didnt exist when I played. Most useful is the Ring that gives you +75% Exp. Problem is you can only use it once every 16 hours and it has a 15 min duration =/

But yeah shipwreck I msg you like 3 times lol, I just gave up. It must suck for you people at 1080i.

Well, that, and I still fumble through the menus at times. So, it's a combination of barely being able to read the text and my ineptitude of understand how to work the menus.
