it sad but in general its true for mainstream America. Or everyone that doesn't have a loved one in service.
Tell your cousin that I appreciate his service, his choice to serve and risk everthing. I appreciate him now and I'll appreciate him 40 years from now. So... a hug and salute from Gwen to Citizen's Cousin.
Because the men and women who have served now, and years ago, are the reason we have our liberties today.
Now you see the occasional flag in a yard or a bumper sticker, but overall the country really doesn't care anymore IMHO.
People live in very small worlds with very short memories. If they don't see a direct personal effect everyday, they believe everything is fine.
Part of it is human nature; no one wants to think that people are out there who hate you.
Part of it is cowardice; if you recognize a threat you have to do something about it... either deal with it or cower in a room and let it have it's way. A lot of people lack the guts to stand and fight, the other people don't want to face the fact that they'd cower in the room.
Part of it is ignorance; they truly do not see that there is a culture who hates us, and every country which does not follow their doctrine.
Anyway. I'm not a huge fan of Golden Corral, but I will make a point of eating there. When I like what a company does, I put my money down on their counters. They support the military, I'll buy a meal from GC.
