Will it make you feel better or worse if I tell you that for once I'm sloughing off my collector tendencies and actually opening it to use as a controller? :D I expected to pay much more for it, honestly.

Either way, honestly. It seems like it'd be kind of rough to try and use as a controller, but I know I'd still be torn if I purchased one.

Well, I am having doubts to be honest. Enig's assured me that it's very comfortable to hold, though, and so I really really want to use it to the point that I'm not sure I can stop myself. I wish that there was a way to remove it from its container without destroying it, but that looks unlikely as it seems to be contained in your run-of-the-mill plastic blister pack.

If I remember correctly, didn't it come with a stand in which it'd sit the slime up properly? If so, I as a collector of many things, some sealed and some open, I think that'd be much cooler anyway. Just my $.02.

You're right, there is a stand, and it'll probably look just as great out of the box as it does in the box. I'm just going to trust that it's a comfortable controller (I was never the biggest fan of the dualshock anyway, so there's a chance it's even better.) Hori is probably the most respected Japanese third-party accessory company, so there's almost no chance that it wasn't actually tested for user comfort before it was produced.
 
I think it'll be easier if you wait for the shipping & handling price. I'll see whether or not if it's cheaper to ship via Flat Rate Boxes or regular boxes.
