Game Boy Player for Gamecube $9.99 (was $14.99) GameStop
I wonder how many people traded their GCs in and forgot they even had the Gameboy Player attached to the bottom?

I bought a used N64 from EBgames and it had the 4mb RAM pack still shoved in it, I bet the previous owners forgot about it and whoever traded it in didn't think to look/yank it...
I doubt very many. The GB Player is a lot more conspicuous than the RAM pack, plus the N64 required that something be plugged into that slot, and I think a lot of people threw away or misplaced the jumper pack when they got the RAM pack.

i picked it up today in san jose, mine was pretty clean except for some adhesive on the bottom, it seemed like someone peeled off a sticker. But it's at the bottom so it shouldn't affect anything. playing old GB Dr. Mario on a SD TV looks pretty sweet. thanks op, definitely worth the $10 here

GBA Player is still the only reason to put on a cube, especially if you own a Wii.

The GBA player was the best accessory for the Cube and any last gen system. I wish the PSP had a better method for the TV, or even the DS these days.

Hmm hopefully the one near my job has it in stock like the website says. My son still plays with a bunch of GBA games so he should get a kick out of it.

What was the official case for the disc like? I think it was just clear plastic like this one right?

That is correct. You can buy a replacement disc from store.nintendo.com for $15 for those of you in need of a disc (but for that price you better find the Player with disc).
This gets me closer to my dream of 5 TVs, 5 Gamecubes, 4 Gameboy Players, and Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.
If you've got one, use a Wii instead of the 5th GameCube. It'll save you a slight bit of trouble.

Thanks OP! I got a mint copy with no scratches on the disc, including the clear plastic case as pictured above. All that is missing is the documentation. Pretty good addition to my GameCube/GBA collection.
I I would guess that it wouldn't have been cost effective for a third party to make a version of it, especially for such a niche market (by Nintendo's admission, they removed the digital a/v port because it was used by less than 1% of GC owners
Nintendo's attitude toward progressive scan was a joke. They made those cables a mailorder only item, an item that was frequently out of stock, and then removed the port because nobody used it. It's almost as if they wanted progressive scan to fail. And then used it's failure as an excuse to remove the extra port. It was just puzzling to me. It kinda seems like an internal tug of war and the anti-progressive scan people won.

I am one of the lucky people who found a set at Gamestop for $4.99 though! :D

Picked up two GameBoy Players today (with discs). Now for the expensive part of picking up GameCubes and components cables.
I thought these were obscenely valuable. Huh.
In 2006 they were going for $60 and up used and over $100 new. Then they kept gradually dropping to the point where they're not worth anything substantial.

Damn I think I bought this new at retail for $50 when it first came out and I thought it was worth it. I have GBC and GBA games and I didn't use the gameboy like I used to so it was great being able to play these games on my TV.

If you still have and use a GameCube...get this GBP!

I just picked one up and looks pretty good on my HDTV. Anyone know where to get component cables for a relatively cheap price? I can only find them online for $60 or $70.

I actually scored a brand new indigo GBP in Osaka, Japan last year. I could only ever find the black ones while in Tokyo, so I held out and, uhh, was rewarded, or whatever. I think I paid $4 for it. They had a whole wall of them. When I got back to the States, I just ordered an English start-up disc and it's worked perfectly since.

I picked it up yesterday and played some Pokemon Yellow, Metroid Zero Mission, and FF5. The games look pretty good on it, even pokemon yellow.

Anyone order this GBP online? I'm curious what condition they're in & if the disc is included when delivered.

Although, even if we had to pay Nintendo $15 for the disc this would still be money well spent.
I don't really see the point in playing handheld games on a console personally so I'll pass. But thanks for letting me not what it does, still seems interesting but not worth it IMO.
I'm like that, only the complete opposite , if I can play a handheld on a console with a bigger screen I'm all for it.

Eye strain =/= no interest from me. I bought one of these especially for that reason, plus when I heard the PSP 2000 had Video Out, that made my day. I might like that games that are on handhelds, I just don't like how tiny the darn screens are, I'm not getting any younger and neither are my eyes.

Same here. I haven't been traveling much lately, so the vast majority of the time I play handheld games, I'm home anyway. Might as well use the TV if I can.

They were when I paid $50 for one three years ago. :whistle2:(

A lot, from what I've seen. A Salvation Army near me had a video game display set up in the front of the store, and I'd say that half of the GameCubes they had had the Game Boy Player stuck to their bottoms.

The Game Boy Player is the Super Game Boy reincarnated. Both were must-haves.
The GBP is why I still hold onto my 'Cube when I have a Wii. It's a great-add on and a must-have for any 'Cube owner.
So true, I've been tempted to pick up a GCN just to get another Gameboy Player. I had one when I owned the Gamecube Q, but naturally I sold it when I sold the Q.

I understand why Nintendo hasnt released something like that for the Wii (despite its love for all other peripherals), but a shame since the hardware was done, sans a Wii compatible connection.
I would buy a Gameboy Player if I could find Component cables for my GC.
I have component cables and the GBP - you honestly will not be able to tell any difference between regular a/v cables and component cables for these games. I'm using this on a 60" HDTV and the cables make no difference.

I was of the same mindset as you though - I waited until I got component cables - it wound up being just a disappointment! I could have been playing FFV much earlier :)

Yep, me too. I couldn't tell you how many hours I spent playing Tactics Ogre and Advance Wars/ AW2 on the GBP. Worth every penny.
