Game of Thrones discussion thread - Season 5 debuts April 12th
That fight still makes no sense to me. He had swords laying all around him from the guards he knocked down, he could have grabbed one, instead he fought with the wooden practice sword. It's like he wanted to die.
Why did Obi Wan just stand there!!!!
Life-size replica of The Iron Throne anyone?

Well, it's fiberglass, so it's The Fiberglass Throne?

Shipping kills the deal.

I'd so love to geek out and get it but I'm not that into GoTs and .... my gf would kill me.
Are we expecting this to have the same turn-around time and come out in March again?
Since HBO's schedule for their big-name shows seems to be set with True Blood taking June, July and into mid-August, Boardwalk Empire taking September, October and into mid-November, it seems likely that GoT will end up being the mid-March, April and May timeslots.

Also, a long discussion about possible S3 roles and possible actors/actresses into those roles:

I was speaking specifically about the bluray/dvd sets.

If I remember correctly, the first season came out about a month before the second season began. Think we'll see the same thing with season 2?

I read an article in Costco's magazine about HBO shows on disc that 60% of people that buy HBO shows on DVD or BD don't have HBO. I guess they think it's cheaper to get the shows on disc for the ones they might like cheaper than to have HBO for the year's commitment on cable/satellite.

I don't have HBO but my parents do. I was a big fan of buying the seasons or picking up a complete set when the prices drop but now that I have access to HBO Go using my parents log in information (we both have the same internet/cable provider) it's really killed collecting the series for me. There have been so many good deals on HBO shows lately (Deadwood, Sopranos, Rome, John Adams, Entourage) but knowing I can watch everything for free has killed any desire to buy the seasons

That's kind of a fluff article. Most of the actors on there are just fan fantasies. Always people from Rome, people from The Tudors. A lot of the characters on there have been pretty much confirmed to not be on the show. Some are so minor that they will all be filled by unknowns.

Some have already been cast too. Beric was already in season 1. Ned sent him to arrest Gregor.

Didn't even notice it when I saw it on TV. I put in an order for the Blu ray from Amazon. I was going to hold out till it dropped in price some or Black Friday and pick up the Stark Edition at Best Buy if it was around 30. I read some place that HBO will be editing it so that it does not show up on all future printings. I don't want to take the chance and have some edited version of the show.

Thats why I figured I might as well order it now. If it is changed then it is changed but if the copy I get is not then I have one unedited just in case they do change it. You really have to look for it anyway. To me the head doesn't even look like him, it is only a side view and has long hair. It does not seem like they intended for it to be him.

I'd have a lot more respect for HBO if they simply didn't do anything about it. It's a prosthetic head in a wig, it doesn't even look like Bush, who cares?
HBO offline temporarily to shave bush? Hot.
Hee hee hee!

Bought the blu-ray today at Best Buy. First off, the video quality is amazing! I don't think cable does the show justice.

Watching Episode 5, I noticed something that I didn't noticed the first time around. Durning the scene with Viserys & Doreah, Doreah mentions that one of the men she's been with, was a man
who can "change his face."
Sounds like anyone we've seen before?

It's cool that something I thought had no meaning, was a potential hint of things to come in Season 2.
I wonder what was hinted at in season 2 that people might not have noticed.
Same here. I thought it was clever they would put something like that in a scene that really isn't too much of importance to the storyline. That may of been in the book, I haven't read it. Unless you've read the books, the writers leave multiple hints, or just guess, we won't truly know till Season 3 has aired.

Don't really spend too much time on this "controversy." I think it's stupid & HBO overreacted. I know why they did it though, they don't want to lose any fans that may get offended. However, someone in the crew should of brought up the possibility of it being a potential problem down the line. In the end, while I personally don't a problem with it, I feel they should of replaced the prop before they filmed. Even if it meant going to HBO & asking for more money to create a new prop.

Small tidbits.

Kit Harington (Jon Snow) broke his ankle but it won't affect shooting.

Liam Cunningham (Davos) signed a contract for another
6
seasons.

Hmm, so I'm betting they're changing the books and having characters appear in events they weren't originally in.
Any chance of that first actress in those pics getting naked?
Not based on the books, but that hasn't stopped the writers before.

I'm about 400 pages into book one (amazing read so far) and I'm getting pretty curious about the show - when can I safely watch it? How much can I watch?

Thanks in advance!

Finish book 1 and then watch season 1. Same with book 2 and season 2. Subsequent seasons may cover events from more than one book due to book 3 being huge and books 4 and 5 covering the same timeline in split locations.

Thanks! I'm pretty terrified of spoilers, haha.

Well, I just started watching this show to see what all the hype was about. I finished season 1 and 3 episodes of season 2. I only read through post 600 and I have not read the books.

First off, I thought the show would be more like a gladiator setting where the 'game of thrones' was some type of king of the hill tournament.

It basically seems like greek/roman politics in a medieval setting.

I really like Tyrion (the imp).

Jorah is probably my favorite character. I love his voice (no homo).

The word Khaleesi makes me happy.

Episode 9
really big spoiler
I mad at Ned's death. They market the show like he is the main character and I find myself not really caring what happens in the rest of the series. Hopefully it will get better.

I really wish he stayed true to his honor and called out the false king. I understand he wanted to save his daughters, but to me it seems his character would not have wavered in his beliefs.

Episode 10 was kinda meh. I didn't get me excited for anything.

So far season 2 is meh except to see the imp outsmart everyone.

Update, I finished season 2 and skimmed to post 1000.

1) I'm hoping Arya reunites with her wolf.
2) Pacing seems off or too fast.

I'm sure I will have more to add later.

"You love your children. It's your one redeeming quality. That and your cheekbones."

:applause:

Question about Jorah.
The lady asks if he will betray the queen again. I assume Jorah was supposed to kill her and that is why he got the letter about his pardon? Is it safe to assume that the queen doesn't know about it? That could be a problem if she finds out.

I think the assassin should have played gambit in the xmen movies.
