Gamefaqs.com. And my horrible experience.

Seriously. This site must be run by children. Or guys who were bullied as children and are now taking it out on us via "Moderator power".

So long story short: I have a topic I created deleted by a mod.
I contest it, saying that it was nothing near what it was accused of. (Spamming) All I did was ask for a gift for the Wii Virtual console, as I have seen all over the board, and even someone posted that they would Gift people if they posted. So I saw no harm.

Little did I know I would be modded for "Spamming" One topic, one post = Spamming the boards. Awesome.
So after I contested it, I get a repsponse from a "Mod"
"You're asking for a gift, which is solicitation. That is spamming."
Ok. But then he takes 3 karma away.. (no big deal, I've got 1511 karma from being a member for about 4 years.)
So after that, I responded again. I basically told them off, but without harsh language. No cursing, nothing. Just told them off.

THEN, this is forwarded to a "Admin" who then obviously is turning red in the face and probably smashing his keyboard with his fist in angst towards my reply. He thinks to himself: "How can I get this guy back??"

The answer...SUSPEND HIM FOR HAVING AN OFFENSIVE USERNAME!!!
I have had the name "Krazy Kracker" for over 4 years on that site. Never ever ever ever had a problem with it. No one ever modded me for it, or accused me of being racist.. (I am white, by the way)

I just think that this is hilarious, they the stupid "Mods" have run out of ways to ban people, and now have come to tactics like this.. I never had a problem on that site ( I never posted topics or was ever banned/suspended before). The other funny part is that there is NO METHOD to contact anyone on the site.

So now I have to suffer having an account banned for no real good reason, because of some angsty mod who felt like abusing his "powers" there.


 Anyone else have some fun stories about their ventures on Gamefaqs??

That sounds about par for the course with GameFAQs.

That said, since you can write in complete sentences and have a decent grasp on punctuation, you're miles ahead of most of the site's users.

nope never bothered with their boards. i read 3 threads and thought it was ran by 2 yr olds. So I found out this site through a letter in a old EGM Mag and then signed up. I couldn't have been happier being here.

anyway that story does sound on par with their stuff. its why CAG has no respect for their forum but their user guides are nice and thats it. It doesnt help when CJayC(I think thats his name) sold the site to someone else. maybe thats where the last ounce of maturity left GFAQS.

Yea I just use them for their walkthroughs never set foot in their forums after joining here.
 
Yeah, I mean the actual FAQs, Codes, and Game Saves are helpful, but the forums are an atrocious cesspool of 12 year old pokemaniacs.
 
I visit game specific boards with questions, that's about it. but you did technically spam the board and you would have your thread locked if you did that here too.

You got what you deserved for being an idiot. There is no doubt in my mind that GameFAQs has its fair share of retards but they always have a couple of guys in every single board that know what they're talking about. Coming from a 7-year member ofcourse.
 
Of course there are a select few on the forums that are actually there to help you, but they are extremely rare in the popular game forums, particularly Wii games.

GameFAQs sucks now. I've never seen such a collection of brainwashed Nintendo fanboys. Just look at the laughable results of most of the polls.

The boards are really juvenile as well, almost as bad as the G4 boards.
 
I only use them for their walkthroughs and codes. Their boards are populated by a level of immaturity we couldn't hope to reach.

Anyways. I was just using that avatar as a placeholder until I got off my lazy ass to change it. I didn't know it had that meaning...I'm not all up-to-date on all these cool memes.

And the other guy... No. I didn't go there for the community, mainly guides and such... I would lurk a lot until I saw a topic that was understandable and not full of asshats.

Well I used to post there 5 years ago, mainly when I was into Animal Crossing. Until Cheapy posted a link to a site he had just started.. thus.. here I am :)

So I can say that I did get something good out of Gamefaqs: CAG

I especially love the new article teasers up by the top right. They've had the same 5 or 6 of them cycled for months now. Usually links to blogs where people give you advice if you get shitcanned and need a new job. Jeff Gerstman reads them a lot now.
 
I'm watching the two Phoenix Wrights do battle. Isn't that why they're posting after one another?

Gamefaqs is mainly for guide reading and game reviews. I rather not see what is going on the boards there.

The reviews are pretty good and the walkthroughs are awesome.

Sometimes you can find interesting info in the message boards about the game.

I'd never post there however, that karma system is broken.

Also, the orginal owner, CJayC is no longer the head admin, and thus the site has gone even further into the shitter.

Getting a short ban from GameFaqs is what brought me here.

Why did I get banned?

I quoted what someone said and it contained the word "shit".
 
I used to enjoy Gamefaqs. Recently, however, I just changed my login information to random data so I'd never feel tempted to return.

There was a time when I could log in there, ask a few questions about a game and get some decent answers.

Now any question asked there ends up being answered with "You are the Suck! Your game skillz are broke."

It's a site called GAMEFAQS! If I could play through Ninja Gaiden on my first try without dying with one hand I wouldn't be reading the site!

It's a site for FAQs, period. Sometimes the Poll of the Day is interesting ("Look, Cloud and Link are the most popular characters in gaming ... again!"), but the boards are irrelevant. And what's the point of coming to another message board and complaining about a ban elsewhere anyway?

You could say that CAG is about deals and these boards are irrelevant. But I bet everyone wouldn't feel that way.
