Oh Jesus. title, story, and link taken from destructoid

A teenage boy bragged on the gaming advice site's message board about burning down a Pamyra church, adding that he was "LOLing" over the arson attack.
Jediknight12345 posted on GamesFAQs' Current Events board Wednesday night asking the rest of the community if they felt he should burn down a church and a school. Despite moderators removing the post, by Thursday the poster was already telling his fellow GameFAQs members that he'd gone ahead and done it. He made light of the fire, which spread through Mission Hill Baptist Church, even posting camera phone pictures to prove to the skeptics that it did in fact, happen. He added that the best bit was how quickly the fire spread, and explained he started "three little fires" on computers, bibles and some towels put in an oven.
One's first thought would reasonably be that the kid was bragging up something he hadn't done in a misguided attempt to look cool, but a number of GameFAQs members, the ones who weren't praising him, forwarded the details on, and eventually it turned out that there was enough evidence to link Jediknight12345 with the fire. The boy was identified and arrested. He is now in the custody of juvenile authorities on charges of arson and burglary.

At first I was thinking- Die in a fire. Kid's got mental problems. He should be put away for a good while. Anyone proud of destroying anything and being happy about it.

Then i remembered it was GameFAQs and I LOLed. That site's message boards are a cesspool of garbage.

haha. I can imagine

Popo: "Why'd you do it?"

Kid: "For the lulz."

for those not familiar with all the gamefaqs board, the CE (and formerly LUE) is one of the darkest place on gamefaqs. If you avoid the popular boards (for example NBA, PS3, or PSP board) you will find a lot of good people (such as board for lesser known import games)
and that is why no one should post at Gamefaqs
fuck that. I want to know if some misguided douche bag is going to burn down/shoot up a place I am near. Then I can watch from a safe distance. ;)

Wait. So a CHURCH burned down?

I hope they didn't have fire insurance. That's like putting a lightning rod on a church steeple.

I just deleted a post and gave someone a ban after he's been warned (and temp-banned) in the past about joking about the death/hurting of others.

So fair warning folks. This isn't funny and I don't want to see jokes about it.

I wouldn't stop at banning them, I'd track their IP and get the info to the authorities in their area.

The internetz is serious business, sir.
Now that's fucked up.

Was anyone hurt/injured in the blaze?
all the info I could get was from Destructoid, and they didnt post a link.
*edit*, link found, reading it http://wgem.com/News/index.php?ID=21674
*edit* No mention of injuries/deaths

also true. gameFAQs is not bad unless you avoid the ''big'' game forums, E.G, super mario galaxy, smash bros

I'm loving this new multi-quote :D

Agreed. Gamefaqs is no different then the rest of the internet. Full of crap unless you know what to look for. But for those who know what to look for at gamefaqs, its a great resource.

Oh Lawd. What have people come to these days? Cock-spaming in Second life for the lulz is one thing, but burning down a building is a completely different thing. This kid needs to be checked into a mental hospital and be perm-banned from the internet all togther.

That kid is seriously made of Fail D:
*edit* No mention of injuries/deaths
That's good to hear, at least.
Hopefully he'll do time in prison, but probably not.
Depends on his age and the state's (Illinois) prosecution of juveniles as adults.

Illinois, I think, allows for this "upgrade" if a waiver is provided - which, given the public nature of the crime, and the crime itself, may well happen.

I hope he gets the book thrown at him and is tried as an adult.
As the son of a pastor, the thought of someone ruthlessly and pointlessly burning down my father's place of worship/livelihood is infuriating.:bomb:

This reminds me of some of those black metal guys burning down churches to prove how tr00 they were.

This is one of the most fucked up stories I've read in a while.

I'm glad no-one got hurt. That kid needs to be locked away. For life. If he burns down a church for "lulz," what is going to happen when he's angry, depressed, heart-broken, etc.?

I wish we had a way to communicate with the GF admins. I want to perma ban that IP address before this kid tries to find a new home.

Glad to hear nobody was hurt.

I hope he gets what he deserves.

And he's gotta be a fucking moron to not realize how easy it would be to be found after posting such things on the Internet.

kotaku article up:

Suspected Church Arsonist Brags On GameFaqs Forums
A teenage boy has been arrested on suspected arson charges for burning down a Palmyra, MO church. What makes this game related you may ask? It seems that GameFaqs forum poster "Jediknight12345" (original, eh?) made a post in the "Current Events" page asking readers if he should burn down a school and a church. The post was quickly removed by forum administrators and then a few days later another post showed up from the same person. This time, Jediknight12345 bragged that he had in fact burned a church/school down, described how he did it and even went so far as to post pictures of the event for posterity. Fellow forum posters immediately alerted local news station WGEM and authorities leading to the teenager's arrest. According to recent reports, the arrested suspect was a member of the church and its attached school

What sucks is that CE isn't actually like that. I hope we don't lose our board over this.

This is more of a 4chan type activity.

Still, the kid is retarded.

I knew a kid in HS whose house was burned down, and the kids who did it got off scot-free because the cops didn't read them their rights  This kid I knew was almost killed too because he usually slept over the garage where they started the fire, but that night he decided to sleep in the tv room because it was too hot.

They did it because the mother of the house yelled at them then called the cops on them because they were skateboarding in the street.

Another time my dad got a rock through his window while we were driving down the highway (thank goodness for safety glass!) - some kids were throwing big rocks down at cars at the overpass. There were about 12 cars on the side of the road down aways, we left our info and kept going.

So I really have no problems believing this, unfortunately. It's amazing how much damage can be done by a punk kid.

where the fuck do you live?!

Yeah we try kids as adults all the time. If he dropped a match on the floor and couldn't stomp it out, they'd try him as a juvenile. Since he obviously planned it out in such detail and started three separate fires to make sure it burned, there's no question. He's going away for a LONG time.

I hope this kid gets beat down and beat down hard.

fucking children nowadays just get more stupid by the year

The crime happened in Missouri, though. What are the laws like there?
Oh Jesus. title, story, and link taken from destructoid
Again, sorry to rehash... but as I even say in my sig... GameFAQs is a breeding ground for haters, punks, etc... it's become like the next Jericho. :hot:

It never ceases to amaze me how many people nowadays get caught doing stupid sh*t because they just HAVE to post up pics on the internet.

Jeff Veasey has allowed neo-Nazi, white supremacist and otherwise white-oriented hatemongering on his forums for years, despite what their TOS says. I'm surprised it was an arsonist and not some hate crime that was being bragged about.

Some guy named Cobalt Blue used to go off on anti-semitic rants and the mods allowed it. I bet he's still there, posting his stormfront garbage.
Why oh why do we revive threads that are a year and a half old?
Look at MrMugsy's other posts (and his sig). Clearly he has something against GameFAQs and obviously the only thing to do was to sign up for an account on CAG's forums to whine and complain, even if it meant bumping up old, dead threads to do so.

*sigh* :whistle2:|

The Endless Ocean board is the only thing I go to. :whistle2:$ It's like the only place in the English speaking world that cares about that game.
