GamersGate Features
  • One biggest feature from GamersGate is the use of Blue Coins.
Blue Coins are GamersGate’s virtual currency, is a reward program earned by purchasing games or by simply participating in activities, like pre-ordering games, reviewing games, rating games, and becoming a game tutor; who helps other users with game issues or questions. These coins can then be used to purchase games.
  • You don't need to worry about region restriction. Unlike direct2drive or maybe for some games in steam most of gamersgate game its for worldwide direct download.
  • No need for a client, no need to be online to play a game (depend on the games DRM), just click and play.
  • Patches is usually faster than Steam.
  • You can re-download your game anytime, you can burn the installation files to a DVD.
  • There's no DRM for most of games including Paradox and Capcom titles, there no other and you can view what kind of DRM the game has before you buy that game, if it comes with Steam DRM then the page would say it comes with a 3rd party DRM and you need to install client for it.
  • You can find most of Steam games on GamersGate with a low price, register the key into your Steam account so you can download it from Steam later.
FAQS

Is Gamersgate similar to STEAM meaning do you have to run their application to be able to play the game?
Do you need an account to actually play the games? or is the account only used for buying?
No, GamersGate is not like Steam.. You have to set up an account, but it is only for purchase.
Is the downloading in Gamersgate done via a special proprietary application or can you simply use a browser to download it?
Is resuming download possible or do you need to download it all at once?
Downloading is done through a proprietary app that requires .NET 2.0. Yes you can pause and resume a download, there's an option for it.

Is the downloading format of the game a single file? one you can easily backup?
Is it a EXE file? Is it encrypted in any way?
Downloads may vary, Stalin Subway comes in .bin files, other games comes in full folder with encrpted setup file (.exe), these are decrypted with the GamersGate downloader. All files can be backed up like any others.
Is the installation of the game independent from Gamersgate meaning you just run it like any other normal installation wizard? or you need Gamersgate to install the game?
You need GamersGate downloader to install. Once the files are decrypted, games install normally. But if you really want, you can use copy-paste trick (I would explain this later) to get it fully decrypted without using GamersGate downloader

After the game is installed does it rely on Gamersgate for anything? or is it just like any normal PC Games, total independent?
No, it's just like any game.
Can the installation and running of the game be made totally offline and without any internet access?
Like you download it in one PC, backup the download file to a USB memory stick and transfer it to another PC with no internet access and install and play from there without any problem?
Games run offline, it depend on the games original DRM (GamersGate don't have their own DRM), if its using STEAM then you can visit Steam website and check their faqs about their DRM. A game can be backed up and moved without problem.

For more info visit GamersGate FAQS
TIPS

How to make GamersGate games setup file fully decrypted?
  • You need to do this step during the game installation process after you finish the download (choose to keep the file in the downloader option).
  • If you already choose to keep the temporary file in the end of download or you already keep the downloaded games, then you need to run the setup process via GamerGate downloader that came with the game once again (no need to install)
  • Make sure you know the downloaded games folder location (in most case its inside GamersGate temporary files folder), and browse for the game setup file/launcher (.exe). If you don't know which the file is, check the folder without running the downloader, look for the "launch" file (without extension), check the size and look for the same size .exe file inside the same folder during the setup process.
  • Copy-paste the .exe setup file to another place outside the folder.
  • Close the downloader and copy-paste/cut the setup file back to their original folder.
  • Now you can rename the folder to the game name, run the setup directly from inside of it (without using the downloader), make a back up or move it to another place anytime you want.

Tropico 3 Gold still shows $1.25 but each time I add it to the cart it goes back up to $5.
tropico 3 gold edition just went 95% off on the us site, making it $1.25. :)

edit: Meh... They fixed it...
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Thanks for the head up guys!! Haha... This is the time when they reconfigure the price!
double check the price before checkout!
Lara Croft and Guaridan of Light just went from 50 percent off to 75 percent off (3.74 now).
That is a truly excellent game. One doesn't even need to be a fan of the other, more traditional Tomb Raider games to enjoy this one. I thought it was a really fresh take on action, platforming, and puzzles.
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Already have the base game on D2D, but for $1.25 I'm basically paying that for the expansion. =P
Trine price been fixed, glad I bought it with bluecoins before the price change!
I love and hate price mistakes, because if you get it you're like :D... But if you don't it's like :wall:

I like it because i can spend my bluecoins on it  $0.20 = 200 BC. I got it back after write a review and givin some rating.

I think Trainz Simulator 12 would be on sale sooner or later. C'mon GG! I want it for another $0.20 hahaha.... it would be AUTOBUY!!! :p

It's half off now.

Yar's Revenge is only $1.99, but even then I'm hesitant to buy the game. I already own a bunch of better types of this game (Panzer Dragoon I & II on the Saturn, Gamera 2000 for the Japanese PS, and both Sin & Punishment games). The reviews and game video didn't impress me, either :(

If some of you wanted Trine at a decent price, it's only £1.69 via their UK site. It was better at 17 pence, but hey, it's still fairly cheap.

EDIT: Looks like Trine is down again, this time $1.99.
Dude... I love you... Bought it right away... Was gonna wait for a daily deal, but I doubt it'll come.
Glad I could help! :) BOTH Syberia games are DRM-free according to the website, too!
Looks like Trine has dropped again, this time to $1.99.
Can only imagine what it must be like in the office where they are doing all the adjusting right now.

Trine .20¢?
NO!
$19.99?

I think GG new site layout and features has to many glitch on it!
Oh yeah another games added to the sale Railcoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum for $3.19 (80% off) (DRM free)

Anybody know how much Trainz Simulator 12 cost during the last Steam Sale? I'm going to pick it since it only $12.49. Or maybe I need to wait next holiday?

Woah! Thanks for that find! That game is also DRM-free! :D:D:D

Both Drakensang: River of Time ($5.99 down from $19.95) and its expansion Drakensang: Phileasson's Secret ($2.99 down from $9.95) are on sale. For $8.98 total you're getting a really underrated RPG experience. I own River of Time and I have had fun so far with it.

If you do get River of Time, google the item codes for it and redeem them with the merchant fellow by the docks at the beginning of the game (I think he has a horse; I forget). Those codes are universal and were only originally available for people outside of NA for preorders or some collector's edition. You'll get some neat items you can use for your adventure! :)

EDIT: I noticed that these use SecuROM. I had zero problems running River of Time myself, so take that as you will.

It seems GG removed and added new list to the sale one by one. It must be because the last week sale error! Its clearly that they need to update their sale system.

New addition: Test Drive Unlimited 2 - £2.40 (84% off in the UK store)

deals4downloads has $12.49 being the lowest price ever recorded. It's tracking Gamersgate, Steam, and Impulse.

Looks like I missed the mistakes again. Thinking of Underworld as a double dip since I have it on PS3 but I hear it looks great on PC.

Also I'll toss this out again.
I have Some Gamersgate Mac Sims 3 expansions I can gift to email or buddies. I'd be willing to trade these for some very reasonable gifts on GG or Steam etc. not a lot of Mac gamers so I'm not expecting full value trades for them.

I checked deal4downloads when few hours ago and the lowest price was $24 .
Crap... my brother really want this game and I miss the price mistakes again.

Sucks right? I almost stayed up but I was exhausted. I have gold version on disc but I would have jumped on that deal.

Not only 1 but 2!!! I missed Railcoaster Tycoon 3 too!

King's Bounty Platinum is only $2.19. That's -94% off on the game's sale page versus -75% on the deals banner. This pack includes it all: The Legend, Armored Princess, and Crossworlds.

Zoop! Price was corrected as mentioned below.

Already bought on Steam /cry...

About 26 minutes until Week 3 price mistakes sales start.

edit;
Forgot they updated the list around 1am last week, not midnight.
Sites hammered regardless.

Only noticing a few new titles amongst the old stuff but spotted:

Jamestown 5 bucks
BEEP 5 bucks
Guardians of Graxia 2.50
Blood Bowl Legendary Edition 10 bucks
Capsized 5 bucks
X3 and other games in the series at varying prices
Borderlands GoTY is on sale but a kinda terrible price so might change or be a daily
Hoard 5 bucks
Trapped Dead 5 bucks

Thanks for the list Corpekata. Jamestown and Capsized are two highly rated Indie games. If anyone else spots any good deals on Gamersgate, please post them. I am a little confused why the site isn't fully updated for week 3 yet, but I'll keep checking.

They must be having some problems, as the "Offers" section is only one page now. It looks like all of Telltale's games are on sale, with Puzzle Agent 2 and Hector for $4, Back To The Future for $10, and more.

In the STEAM deal thread there was a post stating that Jamestown activates in STEAM, but it isn't on the list. How do I find out if these other games on sale activate in STEAM if they are not on the list?

Read the below (my explanation); if it's too long: you need to contact each individual site to confirm a game's activation on Steam. Look for something indicating the need for a 3rd party download/registration (Usually an indication of a Steamworks game).
TL;DR: It isn't retail.

Many games aren't on that list that activate on Steam, so that list isn't always reliable, as it only applies to retail games. To name a few: Super Meat Boy (Gamersgate version activates on Steam), Hamilton's Great Adventure (Gamersgate version activates on Steam), and Fallout 3: GOTY (Gamestop digital version activates on Steam).

That list only applies to games that you are at least able to pick up from a retail store and register the CD key on Steam.

If it's from a digital download service, you'll need to ask them or look for another CAG to vouch for the successful activation on Steam. Sometimes there is more to it than a simple list. I wish this message would reach all CAGs who have the same question.

Unfortunately, it's limited to those who show interest in this thread, and not even everyone from that pool. =/
The site is still messed up. They haven't changed the sale banners, as they show Blood Bowl and "Week 2" and if you click on "Offers", you only get one page of games. You can sort them differently to get different games to show up, but you only ever get one page.
