DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

Today I went back to the Gamerush which refused to sell me the clearence games (they claimed it was a price error). Well every single 75% off game had a pink sticker with the sale price on it, and off course all the ones I had wanted were gone by now. It made me kinda of angry (maybe angry enough to write a harshly worded letter!).
I just traded in about 40 DVDs...got between $2-$5 each! I was surpirsied! Time to unload a ton more! I had so many old crappy ones.
Can you list a couple of them??? I also have a bunch of crappy dvds to get rid of.
Can you list a couple of them??? I also have a bunch of crappy dvds to get rid of.
Theres way too many to list. I think they pay a minium of $2 and go up to $5-6. I was REALLY surprised by the crap that I traded in and what it got. I couldn't make that much selling on Amazon.com or Half.com. Less fuss as well.
How's Madden 06 on the DS? I've been on the fence about that one.
If you can get it for $10 or less, I would pick it up. It's not bad for football on the go. It's seems alot better than the 05 launch title was.
I think you can try your luck on this one. You may need to find a nice EB/GS cashier. I tried to buy 2 of PDZs and one other game. The guy told me the $19.99 sale cannot be combined with the buy 2 get 1 free coupon.
A better system is:

1) Buy 9 non Sports clearance games at BB/GR with credit
-($45 + tax) BB Credit

2) trade 9 games in at EB/GS under trade 3, get $10 extra promotion
+$39 to $57 GS/EB Credit
+$3.90 to $5.70 Credit if you use you EDGE card

3) -$5.99 + tax GS Credit for magazine purchase
-$36 + tax GS Credit for 3 copies of Perfect Dark Zero using B2G1 coupon

4) Trade 3 copies of PDZ into BB/GR (need 3 games for trade fodder and two trips)

5) 3 copies of PDZ become $90 + tax BB/GR credit

I just did this inadvertantly, since the BB people were insistent I check out their cheap new games. I haven't traded in all of the PDZ's yet, but I will have ended up doubling my BB credit and gaining $15 in EB credit for about 1 hour's worth of work. I had to buy an extra magazine since I had already used the coupon earlier.

As for the person trading in DVD's, does Blockbuster ever have bonus values for trade in on DVD's? I've bought like 200 DVD's from them in the past two years. Without a GameRush, its hard to ever find things to use credit on.

Also, I'm guessing that Driver: PL and ME: Getting Up will probably drop in trade in price next week. They couldn't add $5 to it (although they manually gave me the credit in a seperate transaction) I think because it sells for

I went to trade in 3 games & got denied 5 bonus for 2 of them...

Driver: PL (PS2) I got 16 + 5
Getting Up (PS2) & Driver: PL (xbox) rang up 16 each but since they are selling the game for $15 they weren't able to give me credit for them....So what they did is charge me 11 for each then gave me $10 bonus on my account...

So total 21 + 11 +11= $43 gift card + 10 on my account = $53 total...

No bonus for DVD trade-ins. They used to gve $8 about 2 years ago, but thats over. They average between $2-$6. More for boxsets. If you have 200 DVDs, expect to walk out with enough to buy a PS3 and a game when it comes out.

That's funny, because with the new deal 4 for $20, you could then sell them in for $8 minimum. That would mean the most you would pay to watch a movie would be $3 each, and possibly less.

Why then does anyone rent movies at the $5 or so rate they charge?

People are having trouble trading in ME: Getting Up (XB) and Driver: PL (XB) and getting the extra $5? So if I have a Driver: PL for Xbox amd I return it for a PS2 one will it will give me the extra $5 like in rcaido's post? Did anyone have trouble getting the extra $5 for ME: Getting Up for PS2? I just don't want to end up not getting an extra $15 when I go to trade these games in tomorrow.

hey guys just got back from my local gr/bb,
Traded in all 360 games
GRAW : $35
PGR3 $28.50
DOA 4 : $32
Elder Scrolls : $35
Fight Night Round 3: $35
Condemned: $28.50
NFS:MW $35.

Picked up Super Smash Bros Melee, Mario Tennis, Mario Baseball for $9.99 each. (they had no instructions, cover)

I was denied the $5 bonus on ME Getting Up LE (PS2) because it would trade in more then their selling price. But I had no problem with Driver PL (PS2).

Alright, then I'll go back to my CC tomorrow and hope that they still have two copies of Driver: PL for PS2, to exchange my Xbox one for, and my ME: GU, so I can trade those in with Pitfall for $55 after bonus. Wish me luck.. :/

I nabbed a sealed MK Deception Kollector's edition today, thogh I'm starting to think I should have nabbed that copy of the guy game while I was there...

I had no problems trading Driver: PL (PS2), but ME: Getting Up is fetching $16 still, but they won't give the extra $5 since they are selling it for $14.99. Go figure.
How's Madden 06 on the DS? I've been on the fence about that one.
I got this for $5.00 . I guess they made an error tagging it. Hope it is good.

I got $39 credit today by trading in, but the employee took the receipt when I cashed in all of the credit.

I do remember these prices!

Paper Mario - GC $12 before $17 after
The Simpsons Road Rage - GBA - $3.25
SI 4 Kids Baseball - GBA - $2

This was clearanced, but not on the list:
Max Payne 2 - Xbox - $4.25
I had no problems trading Driver: PL (PS2), but ME: Getting Up is fetching $16 still, but they won't give the extra $5 since they are selling it for $14.99. Go figure.
Maybe they're going to finally drop the prices on these two this Tuesday (or perhaps it'll even be Monday since its the 4th on Tue). So get them traded in quick!
Did you go to the Waipahu GR? Sounds like it because that's where I work and your description sounds familiar. If so, let me know who you are. I pretty much know all the gamers that come by. Did you go in tonight? I was working in the morning.
Hey, if you work at Gamerush/Blockbuster maybe you can price check some older strategy guides or let us know in the penny guide thread when the guides drop.

I went out to a CC at 10am that I knew had pulled the games as soon as the list broke here. Well, they hadn't pulled much as there wasn't anything great in the bin. There were several Driver PL and Marc Ecko and I'm glad I didn't bother to pick any up - sounds like they are finally dropping. I was hoping for an Xbox Chicken Little as h2dk tipped us off about that one being a good value.

However, this CC had an Ape Escape on the Loose - I FINALLY was able to nab that stupid game for under $10. It better be worth it :D. They also had a couple copies of Total Overdose for $3.96 (clearly tagged that way too). So I took one of those and some other stuff to GR on the way home:

Xbox Combat Elite WWII Paratroopers: $16 (and no problem with the bonus)
Xbox KOTOR: $7 ($4.99 at EB till Tuesday)
PS2 Backyard Football 2006: $12 (again, no prob. with bonus)
PS2 Total Overdose: $12 (also no prob)
GCUBE - Street Hoops: $1.25

On Total Overdose I was able to turn $4 into $17 of GR credit. Very nice - that has to be one of the best ones yet. I had traded enough Driver and Marc Ecko before, anyway, so it is a relief those are finally dropping as there is no more temptation .

Looks like Combat Elite and Backyard Football are holding though, and there's still a good chance of finding them at your CC.
Maybe they're going to finally drop the prices on these two this Tuesday (or perhaps it'll even be Monday since its the 4th on Tue). So get them traded in quick!
Ohhh, fuck! I forgot that Tuesday is the 4th, so they're closed. Oh please God, don't let them drop the prices tomorrow. I need to go back to CC and exchange 2 games for 2 games that qualify for the extra $5. Do you think the Xbox version of Driver: PL works for the extra $5 or just the PS2 version, because I have an XB Driver, a PS2 Marc Ecko, and a GBA Pitfall for the deal. Also, if I trade in 3 games, and they all retail for >$7.99, but the computer won't let them add $5 to say Marc Ecko, will I still get the extra $5 on the two other games? If I will, I'll exchange Pitfall for another copy of Marc Ecko or Driver, because I'll get more credit that way. $3 more to be exact. :D
Ohhh, fuck! I forgot that Tuesday is the 4th, so they're closed.
Who is closed? No way Blockbuster's are closed on the 4th. CC isn't for cripes sake.
Who is closed? No way Blockbuster's are closed on the 4th. CC isn't for cripes sake.
Yeah BB is open every day of the year if I believe, and CC will be opened the 4th... its rare for any store to close these days, see more and more stores open on days like thanksgiving

on topic, picked up Ridge Racer and Incredibles today... neither of them marked, shocked the hell out of the clerk when she scanned them
Who is closed? No way Blockbuster's are closed on the 4th. CC isn't for cripes sake.
 I can't believe I thought that they would be closed... that guy used his brain manipulation on me. That bastard.

Most retailers only close on the Big 3-Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Most stores will close early on 7/4. CC will close at 7P.

My BB didn't add the bonus to either (PS2) Marc Ecko or (XBOX)Driver but the (PS2)Driver still qualifies for the bonus. According to the employee, BB is selling the xbox version of driver used for $14.99 while the ps2 used is $29.99!?!?

Just traded in another stack of DVDs...nabbed another $80. Most were $3-6, while 2 were $6 and $7.50! They really are the BEST place to dump DVDs!

Also nabbed a new copy of Silent Hill 4...finally. Now all I need is Leisure Suit Larry.

They didn't have much of anything left, of course. I picked up Geist. THey had Rainbow 6: BA as well, but I didn't get it since I don't like Ghost Recon. ;)

io - had you seen these copies of Total Overdose there before? I'm just wonderinf if they restocked or something, like how a few weeks back every CC got two copies of Red Ninja in. I've actually NEVER seen TO at any CC I've been to.

Just got back from a couple gamerushes. Both were completely wiped out as far as games, and for accessories they had some disc cleaning fluid and eyetoys.

Here are some trade values for 7/2/06 (before $5 bonus, not applicable games marked with an asterisk)

Combat Elite (PS2/XBX) - $16
Flatout (PS2/XBX) - $24
Fight Night Round 2 (GC) - $6!!! (damn wiki says $24, of course its outdated though)
Chicken Little (XBX) - $19
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (PS2/XBX) - $12
Marc Ecko's Getting Up (PS2) - $16*
Driver: Parallel Lines (PS2/XBX) - $16 (PS2 only gets +5)
Nightmare Before Christmas (PS2) - $19
Perfect Dark Zero (360) - $25*
Quake 4 (360) - $32.

As expected, Driver PS2 & Mark Ecko didnt count to the $5 extra. For some reason neither did Perfect Dark Zero (they sell it used for $44.99, price drop incoming?). The 2nd location i went to, rather than just not giving me the $5 extra, wouldnt let me trade Driver/Ecko at all because the credit was more than what they sell it for. So i didnt put up a fight, i just wanted to get the hell out of there.

All in all i came out really good, i turned $180 cash into $430 credit. I will go back tomorrow to get rid of the Mark Ecko/Driver and a few of my personal collection that i no longer play. Now im just trying to decide whether i should buy a 360, then ebay it to turn my credit into cash, or wait and hope that GR lasts til the Wii/PS3 come out.

Hi, just got back from Blockbuster and here are the trade in values I received after $5 bonus:

Aeon Flux - Xbox- $2.50- big drop no bonus
Dynasty Warriors 5 - Xbox - $32
Indigo Prophecy - Xbox - $11
Driver Parallel Lines - PS2 - $21
Marc Ecko Getting Up - Xbox - $16 no bonus

Plan to trade a bunch more tomorrow. The price for Marc Ecko must hav dropped since Friday. I traded it in on Friday and received $21.

Thanks for all the trade postings.
YMMV on the PD0. I was able to get my $5 with it.
Hmm... assuming I had games to make up for it, I guess worst case is ending up with $75 in GR credit instead of $90.

Da hell... that thing isn't even available for sale less than $49.99, is it?

Its $19.99 at most stores if not less. I saw a used copy at EB for $17.99.

Huh... I know people were trying to figure out where to get that cheap when it traded in for $24 just a week ago, and I always see it at Circuit City for $50, figured it hadn't dropped yet.

I read on Something Awful that there aren't any dedicated GR employees anymore, because it's going to be closing soon. I think it's true because I haven't seen the 2 guys there in like 2 weeks...

There haven't been any dedicated GR employees for a year. We've already heard rumors of plans to close 100 out of the 400 GRs soon, so we'll see where that goes first. On the other hand, we've also heard that this clearance is to make room for next gen games. So I don't think they're shutting down completely any time soon.

I think I'm just about done trading to BB. I'm sure I'm just about the only one who trades games there, because I always end up spending 15-30 minutes trying to get it right. This time the woman was convinced that the extra $5 was automatically credited, and I was sure it wasn't, so she made a call and eventually started manually adding the extra credit. I had 6 games (NBA 2k5 wouldn't have qualified anyway), but she gave me only $15 extra because "the credit has to be at least $6.99 for me to add $5 each". It wasn't worth the additional $10, so I took what I has and used it on the DVD sale and Star Wars: RC.

Really? Because these two guys always worked the GR counter, and they wore a GR shirt instead of a BB one. And also, I haven't seen either of them there in the last three visits. Maybe it's just coincidence. I hope my GR isn't closing down..

I didn't even know a GR shirt existed. The GR counter has been manned a total of five or six days out of the last year I've been going there.

GR shirts exist! I still have 2-3 in my closet, lol.

In regards to the rumors....
I expect to see 1/4 of the stores the close by the end of the year. This was an experiment, a very ex[ensive one at that. They tried BB Music (Years and YEARS ago), and this was the new one. GR was way more succesful...but they screwed up way to much at the start. Having not enough hours, games coming late, trade-in prices, etc.

Right now, at this point, most GRs sit there. The 'counter' is used the prep DVD/Games to go out, and where they throw there crap. Its been over a year since ive seen a dedicated GR employee. The ones that were, were converted to BB. The sections are always a mess, unorganized, etc.

However, this is too expensive to just 'trash it'. The 'concept' will stay around, but expect less and less games at stores. The story about clearing these games out for the upcoming PS3/WII is bogus. Most stores that had DS rentals converted them them all to used. The old DS rental section remains bare. IF they really were clearing out room, there would be WAY more games added to the list. This is simply getting rid of old stuff to slowly make the side smaller...and smaller...and smaller. My guess? All used DVDs will be moved over there to make room for 'expanded' DVD rentals.

The only reason they messed with music/tickets was because they bought the turtles chain in the southeast. Basically turtles was a movie rentail and music store. Back in the day they were the only place to buy concert tickets as well. Turtles had music only stores in malls and blockbuster bought the whole chain and had to be in the music business. I do remember the expanding the stores for awhile before they ended up in the huge price fixing lawsuit over music.

I remember the Blockbuster Music stores, even when Blockbuster Videos sold cds. Didnt do too well.

Ive got a stack of 17 games to bring to Gamerush later. Im hoping that at 10 will qualify for the $5 extra. If they dont, ill probably just end up bringing the extras to EB/GS for the 3 for $10 extra deal.

NO, and in fact I saw 2 each at the 2 stores I went to today. It is eerily similar to the Red Ninja situation. Unlike nearly every other clearance game (from $1.96 to $13.96) these were clearly marked as $3.96, so I suspect they came in recently. I would also expect them to be restocked in a few days. Fortunately, with that amount of credit, I can take a few to regular BB's even without the bonus and it is worth it. I may even bring 1 or 2 to EB, though they quoted me only $4 for it (will double with bonuses).

First off as reported, expect several trade in value drop on tuesday. Anyone know if they holiday will change the schedule? It seems they had a pretty large price update today. Some have been reported already, but Ecko/Ecko LE, Driver xbox, and Conflict Vietnam Xbox were the ones I noticed. I would expect the trade in value to drop at least in half on those because of the new used prices. Those titles no longer qualify for the trade in bonus as reported.

Conflict Vietnam Xbox - $10 does not qualify (used price $9.99 now)
Xevious GBA - $.25 + $5
Constantine Xbox - $1.25 + $5
SRS Xbox - $1 + $5
Star Fox Adventures NGC- $6 + $5
Splinter Cell PS2 - $2.25 + $5

Also one of the main guys who I used to do my trade ins with was in there today as a customer. He was hired as the GR specialist last year and moved to the movie side when the did away with the GR hours months ago. He basically became fed up with how the GR side was treated and quit since he only work there for that reason. He did say the past few weeks the manager had been getting some info on the PS3/Wii and as reported GR is planning on having a allocation at launch. He was laughing because in one of the info packs was information on how the chain was going to push the PS3 as a blu ray dvd player above a game player.

Neocisco reported his store and several others seemed to receive new copies of total overdose ps2, project snowblind ps2, and driver PL ps2 roughly mid last week. I visited a store today that had 3 total overdoses on the shelf that weren't there about 2 weeks back.

Newbie question...Has anyone tried to get any of the games listed on sale at any of the Blockbusters in the Northern NJ area? We don't have any GR stores here (at least not that I'm aware of), and I'm wondering how small the selection of the PS2, NDS, and GBA games on the list would be. We have A LOT of BB here. So I might try quite a few of them unless someone can confirm that they're basically cleared out, or the sale has ended. Also, when is/was this sale supposed to end?

Regular BB stores hav very little in regards to this sale. I checked out three BB only stores and found 2 clearence games total. Not marked, of course.
