GR is clearing out their stock of Playstation one games for $2 a piece. Get them while they last.

DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
If you want to push a lot of credit, start buying clearance games to trade in at EB, that's what we've all been doing.
Or you can buy systems and Ebay em, best ones right now are the 360 & DS Lite.

Also, buying new games could be a good idea, Chromehounds will probably fetch a decent price. Not sure if GR will last this long, but i believe in October Final Fantasy XII Limited Ed. will be out (if they dont delay it again)

I was wonderin, the on sale Xbox Live kits, those are the original XBL boxes, not the gold with the $20 rebate sticker on front, correct?

Correct.

I just called my GR and Combat Elite: WWII Paratroopers (XB) is getting $19 in credit. That's $3 more than what io said, :D. Also, Driver: PL (PS2) is still getting $16.

I wish my GR had DS Lite's. :whistle2:(

FF XII LE is only available at EB/GS. So, you could use the cheap games to transfer credit over there, and then preorder it (hopefully getting another 10% bump as a result). That is what I did. I plan on keeping that one. But maybe I'll do another copy for selling. I just have a feeling that this LE will be mass produced unlike the MGS3 Subsistence one. But I'm sure it will sell for at least $50 anyway. And it has an official release date of Oct 31st now, by the way.

If Combat Elite WWII Paratroopers jumped to $19 I'll be pissed. Why the hell would it do that?. It was definitely $16 before bonus yesterday.

PS - Wow, Archaic, that is pretty impressive. I thought I was doing well and I haven't come anywhere near your GR->EB transfer amount! Could you post any EB trade-in values that aren't in the Wiki over in the EB deal thread, or PM them to me so I can add them? Since I still have a few clearance games I'd be interested in seeing what they get. Unfortunately I can't get too many more games at GR - they are down to 1/20th of what they had at the beginning of 75% off!

I would do this in a heartbeat, but the problem is, I'm in NY until September, so I only have access to Blockbusters and they don't sell systems. I don't want to have all this credit only to find out when I go back to school, all the Gamerushes by me are closed.

I traded in Marc Ecko's Getting Up yesterday for the PS2. I got $16 bucks, however, the GR guy told me he couldn't apply the extra $5 because the computer wouldn't let him. His explanation being that since they sell that game for $14.99 in-store the computer wouldn't allow him to add more credit because it was already more than the resell price at their store. Isn't $16, the base trade-in price, already more than the resell price? Shows you how retarded GR is.

P.S. I traded in Marc Ecko's a couple days ago to another GR and they didn't have a problem with giving me the extra $5 credit....blah

The trade-in price will drop tomorrow. I think they adjust used sale prices on Saturday or Sunday(?) That's why you were able to get the bonus a few days ago but not yesterday. Then on Tuesday the trade-in value will drop to match the new used price. It is a stupid system, but good for us as it gives us warning of when things are about to drop.

I think I'll stay clear of my local BB for a bit as they may have already found out they have to reprice the Ecko's I traded in there .

Would anyone out there be so kind as to grab me a copy of The Punisher? XBox or PS2 is fine. I don't have a GR, and the regular BB clearance bin had Syphon Filter and Max Payne 2...and nothing else.

So who wants to show this CAG some love? :)

RE: Combat Elite

At the three GR's I went to, I traded in 2 XB, and 1 PS version, and each of them was $16. There was also one store that quoted me $24 for XBX Street Racing Syndicate on the phone, but when I traded it in, it was significantly less (though still more than I paid at K Mart). I was also quote $19 on XBX Driver Parallel Lines and only got $16. So I don't doubt there are some value variations.

(Note these are from last week.)

How much did you get for SRS?
XB. Not for sale though, need to play it first.
No which system do you need Leisure Suit Larry for?

Got rejected for the bonus on two PDZs and a Path of Neo, looks like all of them are dropping tomorrow - PDZ now sells for 24.99 used, and Path of Neo sells for 12.99 used. Bit the bullet and traded them in for $62, since it only cost me $40 in EB credit and $10 in cash, so I wasn't losing anything. I tried to talk him into doing something manually, but he hinted that was above his pay grade ;)

Will be trading in a few other things tonight (including the third PDZ which I will get denied on again) and will post those values when I return.

I got lucky at my Gamerush

There was a new guy at the register with the more experienced employee in the back going through check in's. When the new guy scanned Marc Eco and Perfect Dark he said "Hey, the trade in credit is going for more than we sell it." I'm thinking I'm screwed but the more experienced guy said "That's cause they're part of the clearance." :D

Dodged a bullet there and took my $42 in credit and left.
Why doesn't Marc Ecko Getting Up get the extra $5 bonus??????????

It sells for onver $7 so I am confused why this game???????
Because GR/BB is selling used Marc Ecko's Getting Up less than the trade-in price + bonus $5.

Traded in:

Second Sight (GC): $6 (no bonus... said it wouldn't let him - and it beeped - weird sale value?)
Total Overdose (PS2): $12 (got the bonus on one, he missed it on the other, and when the other guy did something to credit it, I think I got $0.35 instead of $5 - I'll have to check at some point to see what this receipt really means. Whatever.
Chicken Little (XB): $19
Pefect Dark Zero (360): $25 (no bonus as expected)
KOTOR: $7
Pitfall: Lost Expedition (GBA): $8

Probably got screwed out of a few bucks, but I picked up another 4 clearance games (Rogue Agent, MMAC GC, RE Outbreak File #2, Killer 7) to make up for it.
Where are the Buy 2 get 1 Free coupons for EB/GS?
You're in the wrong topic.
You're in the wrong topic.
You took the time to actually type that out and post it, but deemed it unnecessary to actually reply to the post?

Pathetic.

Besides the subject of the coupon was referenced at least 7 times in the 3-4 pages I read, so it's not TOO off-topic.
Where are the Buy 2 get 1 Free coupons for EB/GS?
I believe in the GameInformer mag? I don't know for sure, I've never seen one.

Turns out as a uniform policy, none of the regular BB's near me are doing the $5 bonus deal. Sucks... (The one single GR still does it of course).

Traded in a Total Overdose for just the $12 (still worth it!) and bought some clearance games at a regular BB that actually had 10-15 of them! I might go back for more as their selection is almost better than what GR has now (and no indication of the 75% to tempt other people to buy them).

I called my local BB in the hopes of avoiding a 20 minute drive to trade in, but the response was "Nope. I mean, I don't know. Our manager isn't here, so I can't answer that." Turned out to be okay as I found those clearance games I had missed the first time around.

Traded in these games: (Everything is listed WITH the $5 Bonus unless noted)
PS2
Tony Hawk 3 - $1.25 (Didn't expect any more than that) no $5 Bonus
Cabelas Dangerous Hunt - $6
Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal - $12
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando - $11
Hot Shots Golf 3 - $7.50
Driver Parallel Lines- $21.00 (x2)
Matrix: Path of Neo- $17

XBOX- which I don't even own
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness - $17
Matrix: Path of Neo -$12 (No Bonus)

I found Baten Kaitos, Metroid Prime 2, Madden 06 DS, and Beyond Good & Evil.

The limit to trade in one specfic game at GR is 2, right? Oh, the guy at GR almost screwed me out of alot because he said the $5 bonus is only for 3 games, the manager quickly corrected him. Now that I bought all these games between this deal and the CC one, its going to take me months to complete every game. Thanks CAG! Has anyone found Gladius for PS2?

Was at my local blockbuster tonight and found a bunch of games on the sale list, sadly not one of them actually rang up cheap like the list said. It must be a franchise location.
Is it possible to have different GR to give different trade in prices for games? I took Path of Neo to one GR and I was given $12 + $5, which is the normal trade in price for the week. Then I took another copy of Path of Neo to a different GR and they gave me $24 (before the $5 bonus) for it! They said they couldnt give me the extra $5 because the game sells for $24.99.
exact same experience today....called 2 stores that both quoted me $12 for path of neo, however the first GR i called quoted me $24....i asked him "24??...for path of neo??!?!?"....the guy on the other end was "yeah its awesome...did you like it?"....ummmmm...yeah....

must be some kinda glitch in the system

I found some more clearance stuff today at some GameRush stores I'd never been to on the other side of town. I also picked up a couple PS1 games...one used for $2...and a new/sealed copy of Cabela's Big Game Hunter Ultimate Challenge that was marked $1.99 but rang up at 50 cents!

Anyone else purchase any new PS1 games in the last couple days? This store had a few other titles, racing and sports, that I passed on at $2 a pop...but if all new games are ringing up 50 cents...I'd have to grab them for that price just for future trade bait. Unfortunately I didn't notice the game rang up at 50 cents until I left or I would have price checked a couple more games.

Also, I traded in:

Driver Parallel Lines (got the $5 bonus) for $21 (probably drop tomorrow)
Getting Up $16.00 (no bonus) (probably drop tomorrow)
Cabela's Outdoor Adventure $12.00 (no bonus, would have kept it except I needed 3 games to get the extra $5 for Driver).

Path of Neo's trade value is $24! There were so many of those at CC for $8.96. I am going to call the three local GR and see if they will offer that much, if so I am back to CC for another round.
must be some kinda glitch in the system
I suspect that there is a glitch of some sort. I got $15 (with bonus) for a copy of Soul Calibur II for the PS2 a couple of days ago. I was quoted something like $7.50 with bonus at other locations. I'm not complaining, but it's weird.

Spent about $52 at CC and turned it into $128 - then spent another 50 out of pocket on Gamerush games. Only full price game I got for me was new Super Mario Bros. After I checked out - noticed MMX7 was $7.50 and Midway 3 was $7.99 (?) - I think those two might be going back.

I also think that either a CAG or a Fatwalleter hit Macedonia, because not only were there multiple Mega Man AC gone from last time, there were multiple Leisure Suit Larry games gone, and a lot of those were in the drawers hidden.

what GR do you go to?

Is there anyway to know which blockbusters are franchised and which ones are not since the ones that are not franchised are taking part in this sale, right?

Just ask when you go in, then you know the prices won't be the same. Also, if you do happen to buy something, the receipt will say "Blockbuster Franchisee" instead of "Blockbuster Inc".

CAGwiki updated to this point, though the trade-in quotes are scattered all over. When you post them, please make sure to say what system they are for (sometimes PS2/Xbox are hard to tell apart).

Hello kids,

I am having a problem. I got about 200 dollars of GR credit and want to transfer it over to EB/GS (My GR has nothing I want - for example, 360 marketplace points, etc). What is the best strategy? My GR still has a bunch of 3-5 dollar games, I know about the extra 10 dollar deal at EB/GS, and I don't want to lose any of my credit. By the way, those 3-5 games only get max 2 dollars at EB/GS.

Thanks.

$2 + $3.33 + 10% EB credit > $5 GR credit

It's hard to lose credit on any of the $5 games since the lowest you can get at EB for any qualifying title is $4.33 without any bonuses. Most of us are easily doubling our credit when doing so. Which is already double cash. So my EB credit is something like 25 cents on the dollar.

I grabbed a copy of Rainbow Six 3:Black Arrow for XBox tonight for $5 at the Blockbuster in Edwardsville, PA. They had another copy of the game there, as well as a copy of Ninja Gaiden for $7.50.

Now, I just have to return the EB copy of Black Arrow I bought with credit earlier in the day for $9.99.
Another thing, do you guys nknow if EB/GS price matches other ads? Thanks.
Why don't you just edit your previous post to include all these questions instead of making multiple replies.
$2 + $3.33 + 10% EB credit > $5 GR credit

Exactly. At first I was only buying the games that traded for $4 and above at EB. But now I don't mind even trades, as I still have too much GR credit . Most of the $2.50 to $3.75 games at GR get $1 at EB. But like Botticus said, you will end up getting $4.76 or so with the Edge + $10 bonus. It really helped when EB made the trade-in minimums $1 and changed the trade-in deal to 3 instead of 4.

Here are some examples. I'm including the 10% Edge bonus + $3.33 per game for the $10 deal (and rounding down to be conservative). You can also, sometimes, add another 10% for preorders at EB/GS.

PS2 Bloodrayne 2 $6.25 -> $11 (I got $12.50 with preorder bonus)
PS2 MAT2 $5 -> $8
PS2 The Sims $3.75 -> $8 (I got $8.87 with preorder bonus)

And any of the $2.50 games are good buys, even if they just fetch $1 at EB before bonus.

For example:
PS2 Project Eden $2.50 -> $4.76

Basically, though, you can't go wrong buying anything that is less than $5 (excluding sports games of course). Even the $5 games that only trade for $1 will get you close to $5 back - in more stable, useful EB credit. Only the $7.50 and above games (and there aren't any of those left at my GR anyway) might possibly be losers.

On most of the games I'm no longer doubling my credit, but that's OK. I'd even take a small loss to move some of the credit over.

If it is confirmed that the EB/GS deal runs until July 25th I may have to visit some more regular BB's to hunt down clearance games. Regular BB's can be so variable. One store I went to today didn't have a single new game for sale (but they had a few accessories). Then one just 3 miles away had about 10 games in their clearance section that haven't been touched in months. They were still marked 50% off. I picked up 2 DMC 2's there today as well as a few $2.50-$3.75 games and took them right over to the EB 2 blocks away. I looked through their regular new game section and noticed a few more that they hadn't tagged as being on sale. So I can mine that store a bit more.

I've just been trading so many low-valued games into the 2 closest EB's that I need to cool it a while. Sure, I've never heard of anyone being banned from EB for following their promos, but I don't want to draw too much attention to myself just the same :D.

To answer jaffray's multiple questions :D:
- To get the 10% credit you have to have an Edge or More card. It costs $15 for a year and you get a GameInformer magazine subscription. It is well worth it if you plan to do any significant amount of trading or buying used games at EB/GS (you get 10% off used games too).
- I don't trade at GS, only EB - they put the credit on your Edge card. It is just like a BB Value card.
- $4.33 + 10% is $4.76. No, it's not $5, but it is damn close. If you traded a $2.50 GR game, or even a $5 one, I think that is worth it.
- As far as I know, EB/GS doesn't price match squat.
Not really, the EB deal ends tomorrow. Go to their offical website, it says july 4th.
If that's the case, why did you ask all those questions?

Seriously, though, we have word from EB/GS employees (and I heard it in store today) that the deal will run until the 25th. Just read the EB/GS deal thread.

I don't know if this is much help to anyone but I realized that ANY game can work with the extra $5 when you trade 3. It is supposed to work only on games with used prices of $7.99 or more but I tried trading in some games today with a used price of only $6.99 but I was still able to get the extra $5 bonus!

You ask how? Because I work there and just tried it to see if it works. So if any of you are in good with any GR employees or have friends that work there, the system won't deny it. Speaking of which, I don't believe it would deny the marc ecko's, drivers, etc. It should work, it's just the employee's discretion.

Trade values for wiki before bonus:

SW: KOTOR (xbox) - $7
Summoner (PS2) - $1.25
Powerdrome (PS2) - $1.25

The blockbuster nearby isn't participating in the sale. Lucky for me there is another one that has a Gamecrazy. I didn't see many games. Just a bunch of Advent Rising and some other Xbox titles. I did snag a Ryu controller for $2.50 and an Action Replay Max for less than $4.
