DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

That's what I did......$10.80 with shipping for 5 copies. Sorry I actually made a mistake with that trade price. Aeon Flux gets $19.
 
Bah, i noticed Da Vinci Code was $19 (6/18/06) on the Wiki and $5.99 at Best Buy. Called Gamerush up and they said the trade in value is $6.

I'd like to know too... Wow, that was the longest time in between posts ever in the GR thread (about 3 days!). I guess we're all taking a break after the last promo and before all the fall games (not to mention new systems) come in.

I'm surprised there has been no further mention of the "downconverted" stores. Has anyone asked the managers at these stores (where game systems and possibly GR signs are being removed) what the deal is?

Short term I'm hoping they get Star Fox Command in at least some time next week (and hopefully no later than Weds).
 
Has anybody ever had their preorder disappear from the computers? I think I may have, on my Zelda TP preorder. I can't be sure though, since I remember switching around a few preorders. But has this happened to anyone before?

Yeah, I think they may have "lost" my Okami pre-order the other day. Let us know how it works out for you. I will be heading to my GR on Monday to talk with them.
 
I have had two pre-orders lost, but while they may not show up on your account, if they print out a list of pre-orders it should show up there, that was my experience
 
Has anyone's Blockbuster/GR gotten in Saint's Row early like many other chains? I do not think there is a street date for this game, because a lot of people have been getting it early from Best, EB, Target, etc.
 
Went to my local Gamerush last night to trade in a few 360 games, and much to my surprise, they were still running the extra $5 per game deal! There was no signage around, but the employee that rang me up pressed enter after scanning each game, so I'm guessing that's how I got the deal. This was at the Gamerush on Babcock, for any SA CAGs wondering.

Trade-in prices before bonus (all games are for the Xbox 360):

Prey - $35
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - $35
Perfect Dark Zero - $15
Tomb Raider: Legend - $32

Total after bonus : $137

I put all of it on a gift card so I can save it and put it towards the Wii.

Uhmmm...the street date for Saint's Row is the 29th.

That's the release date, I think. It could very well be the street date, but those stores have definitely been reported of selling them, according to GameFAQS. I know GameFAQS isn't that reliable, but most people posted pictures of the game on their bed/ in their hand/ the reciept and game.

Gamerush will no longer be receiving consoles at all, accesorries will be 3rd party only. And games will start coming in only on friday's.


One last thing, no more game trade in deals. They will continue to trade games but no more trade deals.

Yeah, no kidding... I was hoping to get the consoles there if not the games, anyway (and get the games at EB). I haven't been in to my GR in a while - I'll have to stop in and see what they say.
 
I have quite a bit of credit myself still. I already planned on burning some credit off there with Okami and a few other games. Worse case scenario if I can't buy a few Wii games there is I end up having free rentals for a year and buy a few DVD's...

Out of curiousity, what's your source on this? Similar predictions have been made about the store for quite a while, and while certainly believable, have not held true so far.
 
Well, if this really true and GAMERUSH disappears, I'll be disappointed, but I'll live. I'll use my $450+ credit for a PS3 and sell that hopefully for a major profit...that would be nice.
 
Well, we will find out pretty soon if they are not receiving consoles on Sept. 14 when the new DS lite colors come out. People have been saying the end of GR for two years. I doubt they will not get these new consoles in, right before the holidays.

Heh, also depends on what their definition of a console is, since we know they've been getting various restocks of DS Lites at random places. But I would not hold out my breath for the Wii or PS3. Good thing I pushed as much credit over to EB as possible.

NCAA gets $35 in credit as of yesterday, although if I'd known the news I probably would've traded it for lower somewhere else.
 
Hmm, no Wii or PS3 sales. As my local GR has a list of over 70 names now for the PS3 alone, i kinda find that hard to believe. Unless Blockbuster has managed to pull a "Universal" with Nintendo & Sony i dont see why they wouldnt be getting any in.

Yeah, I'm taking this with a grain of salt the size of a bowling ball.
 
I'll beak it down....

- No more Consoles
Seems feasable. The markup/profit on consoles is VERY low and most BB stores are already tight for space...hence GR going bye-bye

- 3rd Party Accessories
Makes sense. BB/GR has always carried these..since the NES era.

- Games on Friday
Makes PERFECT sense. Not only is Friday the biggest rental day of the week, but its cheaper to send stuff out this way. If a new game 'releases' on Tuesday/Wednesday, they have to spend alot of money overnighting it to every store. This way they can send everything at once, in a FedEx ground package

- But GR still lists PS3/Wii games...
Yes, true. But remember...they RENT games as well. Just because a game is in the system with a retail price does not mean they will sell it.

Again I wouldn't expect these changes to take effect over-night. BB spent MILLIONS to put these into stores. Take a look around several GR stores...most are unkept, unorganized...forgotten about.

No mention of not selling new games, so I'll worry about that when the majority of my fall DS preorders don't show up.
 
i was at a gamerush last nite that had a sign taking preorders for ps3/wii consoles.. i'll ask more details next time i go in

A regional manager and his minions for blockbuster in california. He and i were having a converstation while i was checking out what was left of one of the gamerush locations. They have not yet secured anything for the PS3 or Wii with any of there 3rd party distributors and corporate has told them that they dont make any money off the consoles so why does it matter. DSL sales should continue though since they do seem to have a steady stream of DS stuff now.

The games on friday is happening in september its already been happening for a while now but it will be exclusively on fridays sometime in september. Makes it easy for inventory purposes on each store and its cheaper from the distributors. Remember Gamerush doesnt get their games from the same sources as say EB and Gamestop.

As for the signage and deals the notice went out to most regional managers from corporate about these changes a few weeks ago. I wouldnt be surprised if the franchise owned Gamerush's go under quickly cause the support from Blockbuster to those stores stoped two months ago.

Yep, wish I'd done the same. I got enough credit for 6 360 games (preordered 5 already, but I want at least 3 of those on release night).

I need to figure out if I want to keep those games on preorder or grab a 360 core system to sell on ebay.
 
Just buy the game at Wal-Mart, Target, whatever when they come out. When GR gets youre pre-ordered copy in go pick it up and return it to Target/Wal-Mart. Not that hard to do.

That's assuming they will get the game, which is never a given.

Though with a 45-90 day return policy at the above stores (and TRU), that's enough time to bitch out the DM and get a copy from somewhere in the country.

I should've though of that, as I've done it before at EB. Just had a brainfart from the news.

The games I preordered are big-name titles, but with their current state who knows.
 
A good way to transfer credit -> cash is to buy up all the DS lites's you can and sell em. The 3 ive sold already have gone for $125-$155 not including shipping (and ive got another up for sale right now).

Or wait til another Trade X Get X from EB/Gamestop comes along, buy up all the cheap used games and hope you get something decent at EB/GS.

Im down to $3.50 in store credit, so im done for awhile unless they come out with some more $8-9 games that trade for $19-27.
 
Heh, I could get some more credit over to EB if I ever get to the other GR near me that should still have some Mortal Kombat Deception KEs... I could probably still get $10 for each pair of discs in there at a cost of $5.

Depending on how my upcoming preorders go, I'll see about cancelling them and getting Lites instead.

I realize when it comes out. It is more than just "some Targets/Wal-Marts", people have reported EB's, Gamestop, Best Buy, etc, etc. Since it seems like recently most GR's have been getting games on Friday's I figured they might of gotten it last Friday and are waiting until tomorrow to sell them.

Grrr... I'd consider that if they ever got more than the 1 DS Lite in at my GR. I find it hard to believe you are getting anything close to retail on these via eBay given that they are sitting in piles at every (non-GR) store I go to. If they DO get more, and especially if they get the black ones, I might have to get one for myself. I was holding out for dark blue or green, but I guess I'd bite on the Lite if GR gets the black one - especially if that's the last game system they ever get :cry:.

Why couldn't all this come down AFTER November?? If I had gotten the Wii + PS3 and several games at GR I could safely be done with them. As it sits right now, I have WAY too much credit if I can't spend it on systems and the game deliveries continue to be (or become more so) half-assed. I'll guess I'll just use my credit to buy their overpriced DVDs (though still cheaper than other places if bought via credit).

In any case, what happens with Star Fox Command this week is now more important than ever. I'm almost afraid to ask them if they even have one on order - I have a bad feeling the answer will be no. Even then, of course, they might still get a few. If anyone sees one of these at their GR any time this week, please let us know!

Yea, i found it hard to believe too, heres one that i sold last month - $152.50 before shipping.

Just the plain white DS lite by itself, it was really funny watching it near the end, there were DS lites bundled with 2-3 games going for less and ending sooner. I guess she must've lived in a part of Cali that is seperated from any places that sold it (wtf, no walmart?)

None of the other systems seem to be coming close to retail (unless u get your hands on one of the nintendogs ds's that sell for $200-400.) I would go for the 360, but lord knows the fees i'd have to pay through both ebay & paypal (though i guess i could go for the penny auction price and $300 for shipping.)

But yea, i hope GR gets some Wii's in, i dont wanna be #7 on their call list for nothing. Though maybe we'll be lucky and actually be able to walk into a store and buy a Wii (highly doubt it'll happen for the PS3).
