System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Thanks for the tip. I assumed it was just a matter of her not finding it in the computer rather than it not being in there. Since there didn't seem to be any in the store, I didn't press the issue.

A tip. We have no idea when we are getting more wii's in. We aren't going to get any Ps3's for a long time. So when you call and ask and they say no, they aren't lying. Since a lot of the stores are small, we only get a max of 5 per shipment. If I do find out anything though I'll let you all know as soon as possible. Shipments for my store at least come every Wed. and Fri., with Wednesday being the big shipment.

Gee, I wish my store was in the position of getting MORE Wii's. They haven't gotten any, yet. 1 copy each of 4 Wii games - that's it. No systems, no accessories. And what is with the abundance of 5? My store says if and when they get them, it will only be 2, maybe 1.

It is, that's why you buy the Game Pass, $15 for first month ($22 afterwards) and for a month you can switch out a game (1 at a time) as much as you'd like. You can do it more than once a day too.

I traded in three 360 games on Monday and was surprised to learn the Stow,OH store is still giving the $5 bonus. I traded:

Saints Row $35
Dead Rising $35
Splinter Cell: DA $35

I walked out with $120 in credit after bonuses. Considering I used BBB to get Splinter Cell and Dead Rising (when it was $39.99) and had played at least 120 hours between the three games, I walked out extremely satisfied. With my wife is hogging the 360 with Viva Pinata, I might make a return trip to trade in a few more. $40 is hard to resist.

Hehe - I figured Leenie would be into Pinata. I might have to get me a 360 just for that too ;). (Old AC:WW crowd). Does she play AC at all any more? I haven't in months.
 
Hey anyone willing to donate some GR credit for a runner up prize in the Child's Play Charity Raffle. I am planning on spending $60 on a new game as a runner up prize, but if someone is willing to burn some GR credit we could upgrade it to a DS Lite maybe. Let me know if you do...

Call your stores first. I called both of the ones near me and one actually laughed that someone was asking about it.:lol: Most stores stopped the deal sometime in the summer. This is extremely YMMV at this point.

Neocisco the town park store is the only one I know of that kept the $5 going on for awhile after it was over. I haven't traded there in awhile, but they had it going at least 6 weeks after it was over the last time I traded there...

Are you telling me you have GR stores with Wii accessories in stock - and every other game but Zelda? I wish I lived amongst such luxuries :lol:. Or are you just referring to stores in general? I can't find Wii accessories ANYWHERE. Games, however, are plentiful at most (non-GR) stores - especially Zelda which is laying around in HUGE piles at Target, Fred Meyer, etc. Why the hell GR can't get my stinking preordered copy in is beyond me. It is not any kind of limited thing, at least not any more (the launch date shipments may have been, but we're beyond that now). However, I noticed that the local BB didn't even have Zelda available as a rental (while they had Excite Truck) so there's some specific issue with that game and Blockbuster in general.

yep. well not every single launch game since i dont know how many games launched with the console but there are about 10 different games on the shelf. The accessories are somewhat well hidden. im guessing thats why nobody has bought them out yet.
 
I just wish I could get a PS3 or Wii at GAmeRush. All this credit and nothing to spend it on. At least I'm seeing the 360 HD-DVD in TWO different GR's, which REALLY surprised me.

Nope. We happened to be in LA (my work) for the Wii launch party and she was dying to play with people there, but all we could find was some Mariokart and Pictochat action. I doubt she'll touch it for awhile either because we haven't even opened our Wii yet.

I highly recommend Viva Pinata.
 
I noticed my GR had alot of Wii games in, including Zelda, for purchase. No systems in though and I didn't check the accessories. The manager told me she was expecting a shipment in before Christmas though.

On the plus side, they did give me a few empty Wii cases (from rental stock I guess) so I can replace the Wii Sports sleeve... So my GR is good for *something*.
 
I just updated the Wiki with a few prices. They're kinda old (11/9) but still newer than the ones that were already there.

Surprisingly, I was able to get my Wii at my local Gamerush.

I had purchased Monkey Ball 3 Friday before launch there. I had to leave town that weekend and tried to obtain a system by going to random stores on Sunday and was not successful. Since Gamerush had sold the systems they received on Saturday night, I figured I would not get one there either. I was not looking forward to calling and driving to stores all week to get a system.

Lo and behold, the manager at my GR calls me up on Tuesday and tells me they got in some more units. He says he can hold it for up to an hour if I still want one. I sneaked out of work and was able to use the last of my GR credit to make the purchase. They also had a few controllers and Wii Points cards, but I had purchased all that stuff on Sunday, along with Zelda at other stores.

So Kudos to the manager at my local GR, they tried to make things semi-right in the end.
 
Does anyone have any suggestions for credit transfers to EB? Without a promotion, it's a little rough, but the less actual cash I need to spend to pick up a PS3 (mine came in today), the better.
 
Yeah, I'm curious too...I may just use my credit on next-gen games and then trade in....we'll see. I don't see GR getting a Wii anytime soon.
 
Not that it will necessarily do any good at MY Gamerush, but just in case anyone wants to preorder some Wii games, they just recently added Mario Party 8 to the list. I have that, WarioWare Smooth Moves, and Metroid all preordered (in addition to Zelda of course which they still don't have). It can't hurt for as many of us as hope to spend GR credit on the games at least (since we can't on systems and accessories unless we live in dream-land) to get as many preorders in the system as possible - maybe that will jog someone up at HQ to get these games to the stores.

Since it isn't looking good for the Wii system I would appreciate it if they could at LEAST get Zelda and the controllers in. Then I could return them to EB to save up my more valuable (and scarce) EB credit for a game store that actually gets stuff I want and on time.

GR does not have Wii Play in the system but I wouldn't count on that anyway since it is a controller packed with a game and they seem to be so averse to getting Wii hardware in. If they add it I'll certainly preorder just in case though.

They are pushing WarioWare Smooth Moves up on their whiteboard as a potential preorder along with PS2 Rogue Galaxy, some 360 games, and Motor Storm for PS3. They had better fucking get it in if they promote it AND have an active preorder from a customer.
 
I had a hell of a time finding Zelda at a Gamerush. Called 6 stores "near" me, and finally the last one had a single copy, that they just received today. Luckily they were willing to hold it for me since it was about a 30 minute drive down there. One of the employee's was pretty upset, apparently he planned on buying it.

Geez, how much credit did you build up at Gamerush? You need to wait for the next EB promotion deal and just transfer all of your credit to stop dealing with this stupid shit.

Honestly, it just seems like it isn't worth the headache for what you go through.
 
I had a little over a G but when i found out that GR wasn't going to have a good chance of getting PS3s in (kept telling me they didn't know or wasn't doing preorders), I transferred credit by moving some games to EB/GS when they had the Trade 3 Get Extra $10 and picking up a DS Lite for my brother who was going to Japan and one for me to pass the time.

Now I'm at about $800 in GR credit waiting for them to stock PS3s... I'm still waiting for my PS3 preorder at FYE as I'm #7 and they are still on #s 4 and 5... Man can't wait to get my hands on one...

Do the BBs rent out HD DVDs in their normal red cases? If so, just 'lose the movies and buy them that way.

My store does not rent them yet....but eventually they should, as some stores have them. I still would rather get a game system with my credit though.

Any Wii update? Seems like everyone else is getting them tomorrow

I'm in nearly the same boat. I transferred a ton during the last EB promo and that paid for a PS3 and Wii with a few $100 left over at EB. But if GR can get Zelda and the controllers in I can return those to EB and get back $110 of that credit to save for future things GR won't get. I would pick up a PS3 there (if they ever get them) but now I'm not even sure I want one (with the lack of an upscaler).

I have still been getting nearly all my DS games at GR, so they are good for that (Roufuss ;)). Actually, they were a good deal on FF III as they had it for $34.99 and most places (not just EB this time) had it for $5 more. Contact is the only recent DS game I couldn't get at GR. If they would start, and then continue to get, the Wii games I could save my EB credit for later.

It is definitely worth my time to make sure I can do something with the credit. I haven't had to spend any actual cash on a game or system in several months and hoped to continue that throughout all of 2007, EVEN IF NOT ANOTHER DEAL shows up for either GR or EB. I did manage to get my Black DS Lite at GR and am very happy with that.

If GR would bring back the preorder deal or EB would bring back the $10/3 extra deal I'll have more options. As it is I'd be happy spending $50 in credit for Wii games at GR - but they don't bother getting them to my store for some reason. It sucks for them too, as they had plenty of people asking about Wii systems and games and were unable to make any sales. Great business model there guys.
 
Well, I don't think the SYSTEMS is BB/GR fault...as supply is well, for crap. I know the face more challenges than the bigger stores like CC/EB/BestBuy.

Well, and yet I hear on here how some GR's had several Wii's with more on the way. Mine has yet to get the 2 they had on order - that's an internal distribution issue. And what about the games? Certainly they could ship preordered games to stores where they have preorders instead of putting them out for sale at random stores. That is all BB/GR's fault. I also get the feeling they just didn't order very much stuff for the Wii - sure, the systems allocations they couldn't control, but my store didn't even have any accessories ON ORDER as of a few weeks ago.

Also, now we're into 2nd and 3rd shipments of Wiis at stores like Target and Best Buy. You'd figure GR could get some of that cut by now (besides the few locations). I think they made the decision that it wasn't going to sell or something - typical boneheaded BB management move I'm sure. My local Gamecrazy apparently had tons of Wii systems a week or so ago - they don't seem to be having trouble competing with the Targets and Best Buys.
 
Well said, I was just giving them the benefit of the doubt. I know I Was told that only CERTAIN stores were getting the consoles. Also, it costs Blockbuster more to ship a game sometimes than it's worth for them. If they have ONE pre-order, it's not cost effective to pay for one game to be shipped. I Was told my GR could've got ONE PS3 at launch, but it costed more to ship than what they would make on it....thus, that is not smart either.

BUT... I see your point. I just want to use my credit I have and be done for a while.
 
Hey all,

Just came back from my local Blockbuster store. They were having 2 different promos:

The first was on video game rentals: Rent 2 for $10. This only applies to PS2, PSP, GC and XBOX games, not to XBOX360 or PS3.

The second was 25% off on Pre-Played games. This, again, only applies to PS2, GC and XBOX games, not to XBOX360.

Just thought I'd throw a heads up on CAG. Not sure if this is YMMV but my local Blockbuster usually follows the nationwide promos.
 
Hmmm...I was at Gamerush tonight and didn't see any 25% off promo. My store is one of the bigger stores in the country and always follows all the national promos. They have plenty of Wii and PS3 games in stock as well...too bad I don't have any GR credit anymore. Spent it all on clearance games during the summer.
 
I did not see the 25% off either...I'll have to check. I few PSP games I might be able to get.

Now, if they would just get a Wii. Monday and Wednesday are the delivery days for GR, correct?
 
I was at a GR Saturday afternoon and there were no signs up for the sale, but the manager mentioned it to me when I bought a used game and they had the barcode taped to the side of the monitors for them to scan. The barcode wouldn't work for some reason so she just manually took the 25% off.
 
Well, I called last night in a vain attempt to see if they had any Wii stuff in and lo and behold, they had ONE SINGLE COPY of Zelda, which of course was not being held for me (nor had I been called about it despite asking about it every time I went in). So (after that, anyway) they held it for me and I picked it up today (I did have it preordered after all). They also appear to have gotten ONE copy of Excite Truck. That isn't a game I'd normally want to spend $50 on, but I'm tempted to if this is the way Wii game deliveries are going to go (ie, just use my credit when I can). It felt good today, though, as I was able to "retire" one gift card ;).

Now here's something wierd about Zelda that I haven't seen reported here. It rang up $59.99. He had to manually adjust it down to get it to be $49.99. Has no one else had this problem?

I think this is YMMV. I bought some games on Fri. night and they told me there were no deals currently on used games. But then again my local BB is a franchise, so maybe that has something to do with it.
 
I'm surprised, I think every blockbuster deal that has been listed here I've seen at my local Blockbusters, assuming they have the games.

Hate this deal, my blockbuster has a handful of games I'd love to jump at right now, though I don't really have the money, and I already have a huge backlog.
 
That makes more sense, since they usually start deals on a Tuesday. Although, this has been discussed briefly in the GAMERUSH thread.
