System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
Ok, now it's official....NO PS3's at launch at my GameRush. I went to trade some movies in and asked....NONE. They said they could get one, but it would cost too much to ship to make it even worth the sale....so, they will wait, they said eventually they may get some. Whenever SONY gets their act together.
Wait, so your store went from doing the lottery thing at midnight to having none? Well, I guess that doesn't bode well for my store, which already gets shorted on game releases (no Metroid Prime Hunters, no Disgaea 2, only one of most DS titles and only because I preorder them, etc). I guess I'll be lucky if they even get my Yoshi's Island DS and FF III in this Friday, let alone any PS3's .

Thanks for passing the info doubledown. I'm going to go in person tomorrow to ask them.

Anyone else have any reports from their GameRush about PS3's?

Oh, and the Wii is looking more attractive by the minute. :)

I went to my local GameRush and talked to the Manager, whom I trust is passing on the information he was given accurately.

He said:

They will probably not get any PS3's or Wii's this week. If they get any it will be 1 or 2 per store (Possibly 2-4 Wiis) based on past performance. These will arrive in one of their usual shipments sometime past the launch date, possibly next week or on Black Friday. He said that the replenishment numbers don't look much better. He said they were told to tell customers that they should plan on acquiring their systems elsewhere.

I asked him what I was supposed to do with all this credit, I wasn't waiting around forever for a system.

He said I should take out my value card, shine it up real pretty, turn that sombitch sideways and stick it straight up my candy ass.

No seriously, he said he was sorry. I told him I didn't blame him, but it looks like I'll have to use that credit some other way. After it's gone I'm not going to shop there again. (Unless they have some kind of super-deal, of course)

I guess I'll see if they are getting any Wii's also. I have credit I want to spend...if not, mabe I'll just get some 360 games that I've been wanting. I wish they sold HD-DVD's too...oh well.

I don't really understand the credit problem you guys are having. I mean, if you buy new games, pre-order them from Gamerush. If you don't want any games, then put your credit on a gift card and pop it on Ebay for a small loss. Most of us only pay about 25-50 cents per $1 of Gamerush credit anyway, so selling it at 80-90 cents on the dollar is still a nice profit.

My GR said no PS3 or Wii, so don't get your hopes up for a Wii. They just got the news yesterday. There was one good bit of news, the games should soon start releasing closer to release dates. He wasn't sure if this would be the case for RB6 Vegas, but they recently changed the company that handled the shipping for them.

I will end up getting the systems at EB - luckily those deals a few months back allowed me to transfer about $1000 in credit. But I still have a bunch of GR credit. I'm not going the gift card route - I'll just continue to get new games at GR. Sure, you have to wait a bit longer, but it is still worth it! I'm hoping they will at least get Wii accessories (Wiimote, nunchuck, Wii points cards, etc). If that is the case I'll probably return my extra controllers I have preordered at EB (don't want to cancel as the manager is cool - I'll return to another store) thus saving more valuable EB credit and burn the GR stuff instead.

So has there been any solid info on the HD-DVD drive. I've called and they just don't know what I'm talking about and don't know how to look it up.

Any word if GR will be getting alot of the Wii accessories? I know Nintendo will be shipping them out so they get to stores before Sunday, so I assume that GR will be getting some in. Does anyone know someone at GR that could find out about how many of the accessories stores are getting. I imagine they will be getting quite a bit since Nintendo should have tons of extras.

I think I am still going to camp out at GR in the morning and try to get one of the 2 PS3s they are supposed to get.
I don't really understand the credit problem you guys are having.
It's not that I can't use the credit for games or extra Wii controllers or anything, it's just that I had these funds earmarked for a Wii and therefore have been using other means to purchase games since I like getting them on time (or at all).

Certainly, now that I know the score, I will start using that credit for accessories and games, but I wasn't planning on having to pay $250+ out of pocket for a Wii, and it will hurt some now that I am forced to. I'll live, but it irks me.

BTW, based on what I was told, I wouldn't count on GR getting the accessories or games for the new systems until whenever their first regular post-launch shipment is. In other words, make do with one controller until GR gets some.

I'm not surprised... Gizmo told us this months ago it seems that GR wasn't really planning on doing any of the new systems, but no one believed him.

I know he's cried doom on GR before but when I saw him post about this one he seemed to be fairly confident in his source.

I would highly doubt it. I know it';s a 360 "accessory", but they don't even carry HD-DVD's in-store yet. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky, but I doubt it. Apparently, they need to ship a LOT of things at once to make a profit....that is why they passed on getting ONE PS3.

Thank You! Finally. But really, GR WILL get PS3/Wii at some point...just not ANYTIME soon. A Wii here and there may happen, but don't expect to see a PS3 until next year. BB/CC/GS/EB etc will be getting those WAY before GR, especially since BB/GR is a high theft area....were talking a $600 system here.

Games WILL show up. Evidence is the Wii games. However don't expect much in accessories or systems.

Right... But we also heard from someone who claimed they worked at GR saying 100% for certain that GR wouldn't carry ANY more hardware. This was disproven when the new color DS Lites came in. If they get ANY Wii's or PS3's at ANY point then all that "guaranteed insider info" was pretty worthless. Really, it's not surprising that GR would get shafted on the PS3's when even EB/GS is getting cut back pretty severely. Now why they wouldn't have Wii's, especially after getting all the Wii promo boxes, etc, is more of a mystery.

Gizmogc - did someone say Wii games were available for sale at GR now, or just that they got them shipped for sale Sunday? That's kind of important because I'd rather get my Zelda from GR than EB (I'll pick up and return Zelda at another EB). Also, does anyone know if they finally dropped the Wii games down to $49.99? Last time I asked they were still listed at $59.99. If I get the time I'll probably stop by there and preorder a Wiimote, Nunchuck, and Classic Controller. Chances are if they get any they will be in small amounts, so I might as well preorder them.

Someone mentioned in the Wii forum that their GR already had a few games. I'll be calling over there today at some point to see what they have. Might save me $50 or $100 in EB credit, and use up the majority of my remaining GR credit.

I have a XBOX, dvd kit, 4 controllers, and some crappy games. Anyone trade one in the last few weeks? I could not find any recent (last month or two) trade in values.

I'm not sure what EB is giving either - they would not tell me over the phone (???).

Yep, No Wii's at my GameRush either. They said they MIGHT get some at a later date. I guess they are giving priority to the stores that had GOOD XBOX 360 sales....so, not sure if my GR will get them. I know they had 8-9 360's at launch.

Hmmm, what to use my credit on now??? I guess 360 games....and possibly HD-DVD's if they get any.

Yes, but you can only cry wolf so many times before people stop believing you. Even a broken clock is right 2 times a day.

Well, I don't give a flying fuck about the Wii any more, now that I won't be able to properly hook it up to my TV until mid-Dec, if I'm lucky. If it weren't for the kids, I'd sell my EB preorder and just wait for GR to get them. But I guess I'll hook it up with craptastic cables and let them play Wii Sports in the mean time. As for Zelda, no biggie on whether GR gets that by Sunday or not since I won't be playing it until I can get the component cables (ie, mid-Dec). Funny how they pushed the GC release back till then and the big selling point between the two is widescreen/pro-scan support - which all but the 2000 or so people who were able to get in on Nintendo.com's component cable orders won't be able to use anyway for the time being.

And of course, it is now late afternoon Weds, and NO call from GR concerning PS3/Wii. They promised they would call me - they could at least let me know there won't be any, but I think my store won't even know on Friday for sure :D.

I got word from Gamerush. The fella said that they just got word that there'll be no PS3's on launch, but be on the lookout for a couple of PS3's once sony ships the second batch (he said around December).

I called about 4 Gamerush's and all of them said a defiant no except one, which he said to call back tomorrow. **fingers crossed**

Like someone else has mentioned, I've had all my credit (albeit not nearly enough for a PS3) saved up for this.
Yes, but you can only cry wolf so many times before people stop believing you. Even a broken clock is right 2 times a day.
Still funny people won't believe what Ive heard from 5-8 different managers and a DM. Like always, whatever. I'll continue to post even if only 1 person believes me. Seems like the right thing to do.

I called 2 GRs today, both had no idea what a Wii was. Better to stop in and look around.

I thought the Wii was not supposed to have launch issues with not having enough systems? I guess I can wait for a PS3 possibly and use my credit...I have $400+ there I believe.....oh well. Maybe it's time for CoD3 :)
I thought the Wii was not supposed to have launch issues with not having enough systems? I guess I can wait for a PS3 possibly and use my credit...I have $400+ there I believe.....oh well. Maybe it's time for CoD3 :)
It isn't, which is why I'm surprised we're hearing no launch Wii's at GR. AGAIN, after they specifically got all the promo material for them (which they didn't seem to get for the PS3). It seems the PS3 launch has really been scaled back - more than Sony is willing to admit. Even Fred Meyer (a Northwestern chain of Target/Walmart like stores) is apparently not getting any, and they had many Xbox 360's last year. Apparently they are restricting the PS3 launch to just a few stores - so it's no surprise our old GR was left out in the cold. Are Gamecrazy's getting them at all? Seems I've heard nothing about them.

But the Wii is a different animal - they should have gotten those. If, as Gizmo says, though, that they will get both eventually, it isn't a big deal to me as that means they will support both consoles and continue to get games in the future - which is all I need to use the rest of my credit there (and build up more in the future if that turns out to be the case).

My two local GR's are getting 4-5 Wii's each; though they are not guaranteed to arrive for the 19th. Supposedly the GR's that have the most success selling game hardware are getting the most consoles (( 1000 Wii's company-wide; 500 PS3's company-wide for the month of November, as i understand it )). ....That's not many at all when you have to divide those numbers across 5,000-something stores, but i happen to live near 2 stores that will get a more generous delivery of systems.

To my understanding, all systems in the Glendale store are spoken for.

That's kinda what they told me also...successful stores get the most consoles. I thought Wii's were going to be everywhere too....oh well. My credit lives on.

First off, my GC (on National in West LA) has the $5 bump if you trade 3 or more. There's even a huge sign above the game counter. Not sure how long it's been there, as I haven't been in there for a long-ass time.

I traded in the following. I made two trips, as the first go-around was for Christmas presents, and the second was for their Guitar Hero 2 (I also got a new Battalion Wars for $10). Note that the bump was in effect for all but (I imagine) the really low ones. I'm typing just what was on the receipt:

Ford Bold Moves PS2 $7.50
Commandos Strike Force PS2 $24
Rampage Total Destruction PS2 $11
50 Cent PSP $29
World Tour Soccer 06 PSP $12
Gangs of London PSP $3 (WTF? I know it's crap, but it just came out)
Rengoku II PSP $23
Ford Bold Moves PSP $23
MLB 06 The Show PSP $12
Super Monkey Ball DS $9.50
Spy Hunter Nowhere To Run PS2 $24
Phantasy Star Universe 360 $40 (screw the monthly fee!)
Bomberman Act Zero 360 $30
NBA 2K6 360 $9
NHL 2K6 360 $7
NBA Live 07 360 $40

Okay, so I didn't follow all the old threads, but I'm running into the old "wiped history" problem. My blockbuster no longer has a history of me preordering Zelda, and all my credit has been wiped out. I know this was noticed by a few a few months ago... is there any remedy? Do I need all of my receipts?

By the way, when I was at my GR yesterday, I saw into the drawer and there were a few PSP games. All I saw were Genji and NBA 07, but at least they have them.

Went in to Gamerush today. They have not gotten the 2 Wii's they *might* have for sale Sunday. They still have tomorrow to get them I suppose. They got Final Fantasy III but not Yoshi's Island DS.

They got 1 each of the following Wii games: Madden, Super Monkey Ball, DBZ, and Tony Hawk. They got multiple copies of several PS3 games, of course - damn stupid to carry so many games for a system no one will have . They do not have Rayman for Wii on order even, so I had to buy it at EB with my more valuable EB credit. They also do not have any Wii accessories on order. So there goes my plan for buying Wiimotes and Wii Points cards, etc, using my GR credit. Damn them...

Did you have credit in your account or on a CARD? I ALWAYS put mine on a card...lots easier.

No accessories? Damn. Not surprised though, GR didn't sell very many GC accessories. Infact, GR didn't sell much of any Nintendo product compared to Xbox, 360, PS2, and PSP. I really wanted to grab a Wiimote there too.

Stopped at GR "A", they had Wii games for sale and rent - Spongebob, Monkey Ball, DBZ, Marvel, Trauma Center, CoD3. They had a sign on the door saying no PS3s and no Wiis on launch days. Asked about Zelda, Wiimotes and was told maybe, maybe not. Went to store "B" and they had no games whatsoever. I asked about accessories and was told maybe, all they know is they'll have the hardware. I did a double take and was told they'll have 5 units and that store "A" will have 6. No midnight sales, they'll be done at open of store on Sunday morning.
Well, that's a bonanza compared to my store with their "maybe 2". And you got a slightly better selection of games - was there more than 1 copy of each for sale? Like I said, my store got exactly 1 copy of SMB, DBZ, Madden, and Tony Hawk. It is interesting that they got different ones than your store though.

And Gizmo, they may not have sold many GC accessories, but that has got to be due mostly to the fact that they've never carried many! I would gladly have bought Wavebirds there even before they went on clearance but they never had them. They better fucking get Zelda - I want at least one item I can return to EB to save some of that credit and burn GR credit instead. At least they did get FF III so I saved having to spend $40 for that at EB (got it for $35 at GR).
Sorry, didn't mean to ignore you. This is the first we've heard of CREDIT disappearing. We had only experienced preorders from more than a year ago disappear. It seems wierd that credit would vanish. For the preorders, and I guess the credit too, they need to call corporate and have someone there look at your complete history. They can find the original preorder, look through to see if you cancelled it or switched it, then figure out what to do from there to get it back to you (some are more helpful than others). The whole thing depends on getting an employee that gives a crap though - which may be hard at some locations. Even at my GR where they are generally helpful and friendly, I had to pester them for well over a month to get it sorted out - and that was only for 2 missing preorders.

Saturday update - looks like they got Excite Truck in today, but not Zelda (or any accessories). WTF? They got a first party title but not Zelda? I didn't ask if they actually got their 2 systems in.

I called...no, they did not get any systems

Just called mine - no Wii's in today, or Zelda for that matter. But they did get Yoshi's Island for DS! So that's something, anyway ;).

Oh yeah, I forgot to go over there and get that and FFIII this weekend. Maybe I'll stumble upon a Wii remote that accidentally got shipped to them or something. Only preorder left is Castlevania... wonder if I should burn the last of my credit on Wii games to save EB credit or just sit on it till there are some better deals/more DS games to be had.

I'm honestly not too surprised they don't have Zeldas. The whole stock of them is going to stores with systems, because I'm sure Nintendo is shooting for the highest tie-ratio possible (as in ratio of Wiis sold with Zelda).

They ought to have Yoshi's Island in now, too. Though I have no idea when I'll find time for all these DS games now ;).
