System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

No problem. I took in a sheet with the four barcodes on it and had them scanned last night when returning some DVD's. I will be going back to my TRU to see if they have any trading fodder left. I was surprised at the low value of Grandia III though. I guess it has been out longer than the others.

Why not just have your trade credit put on cards instead of your account? Then it would be impossible for them to take any back and you'd be able to use your credit at any Gamerush in the country. That's what I do.

Well, yes, I normally do that - in fact I had a 0 balance on my account before that last set of trades for exactly that reason. But see, this was the "special" GR employee who couldn't figure out how to look up trade-in prices for me. I didn't trust him to handle the Value Card properly. In fact I started to hand it to him, then I said just to put it on the account, it's easier that way ;). And unlike you, I have no other GR's to go to, so I will spend the money there. It's just a matter of whether the manager will feel the need to "adjust" my account. I haven't been in there since then so I don't know.

Sorry about the wiki, I meant to go back and put in those 360 prices, but I forgot. I tend not to think of the 360 as even existing, so I usually glaze over when I see talk of games for it ;).

I don't see this mentioned in the OP, but it really should be mentioned that you can get a 60 gig PS3 at Gamerush for $540 and a 20 gig for $450 using the gift card promotion they've had going on for the last month. For every $50 gift card you buy, you get a $5 gift card for free, so buy $600 in gift cards and you'll get $60 in free gift cards. There's no limit on the number of gift cards you can purchase and use, so it's a good way to save money at Gamerush on anything you buy, but especially nice for consoles.

sorry if this is dumb, but any chance of buying gift cards with pre-existing value cards and getting the bonus 5 per 50? s

Of course that would be sweet, but they specifically exclude this on the promo materials. YMMV on actually pulling it off though. I'm not sure if the system excludes it (unlikely) or if it is just up to the cashiers.

Funny you guys are talking about this. I traded in $99 worth of games yesterday, I then asked if I could buy 2 $50 gift cards with it so I could get the extra $10 in gift cards. The girl ringing it up say's "that would be cheating, you can't do that". Now I know they have a policy against using gift cards to buy gift cards, but I wasn't aware this was against the rules. I did this plenty of times last holiday season. I plan to go back when the manager is in and see if she will do it.

Has anyone else tried or got them to do this. I look at it like I sold them my merchandise, so it should be like me coming in with cash.

The reason they won't do it is that you could just keep using gift cards to buy more gift cards and eventually turn $100 into an unlimited amount of cash. There are a few cashiers dumb enough to let you use trade credit to buy gift cards, but I'm sure they would eventually catch on if you then tried to use the gift cards to buy even more gift cards. Basically, trade credit at Gamerush is considered a gift card and can only be used to purchase anything a gift card can be used to purchase.

Hmmm, guess I just don't see it that way. They seem like two different things to me. One could argue that you are getting the $50 gift cards as gifts for people to use at other Blockbusters. You just get a little $5 bonus for being so giving. :lol:

Also, does anyone know where the official rules are for this promotion. I am wondering if it say's anything about using trade credit.

yeah i see the problem with buying gift cards w/ gift cards, but just wasn't sure if trade credit 'value cards' are considered 'gift cards' too

I have bought gift cards with credit before (2 times actually - both for trading on CAG). They didn't have any problem with it - but I wasn't getting the $50 ones to get the bonus gift cards.

It says right in the fine print, no gift cards or store credit can be used. It also says something about how they reserve the right to change the terms or end the deal at any time...typical fine print. It's printed on the sign that's displayed at the checkout counter at my GR, so I see it every time I go in there. There's no end date on the sign, but it usually ends around New Years.

Yah, they shouldn't have a problem with it since you have the option of putting trade credit on your account or on a card to begin with. I always put mine on a card, as I shop at multiple GR stores.

Well I guess that answers my question. I'm pretty sure though that I did it several times last year. Of course I was using the cards to turn around and buy mostly systems and some games. I think they let me because they got credit or something for selling systems.
 
I just did my first trade-in for store credit at GR.
I traded in Metal Saga, .Hack, Steambot, and Monster Rancher Evo. I ended up with $94 store credit. I then asked the lady who was processing my trade-in if she had any ds lite in stock and they had 2 black ds lite.

Are you allow to trade in the same game? I have an extra of each copy that I traded in. I could get a ds lite + $40 (credit balance) which I only paid $88 out of my pocket.
 
You should be able to go back the next day and trade them. Though I would suggest going to a different GR and trade there (if you have more than 1). Then you can get that stores credit put on a gift card. Then go back to the first store and make your purchase.

PS, what was the trade-in value for .hack? I assume it's rebirth?
EDIT Nevermind, I think I figured it out.

If you got:

I actually haven't traded any of the TRU games in yet (didn't really find that many of the "good" ones), though I might bring an Odama in tomorrow, with some Kmart stuff for filler (so I can get 3 for the bonus).

Man, I wish I got the bonus here.

As far as Odama, I traded game only today and only got like $9 for it. Is that the right price? Is it more if you trade it in with everything?

Also, I asked the manager today about the "buying the $50 gift cards with trade credit then getting the extra $5 card" and she said she didn't think it worked that way. Oh well. The manager last year did it multiple times. I also picked up the flyer for the $5 gift card deal and it doesn't say anything about not using trade or account credit. No biggie, I'm not going to push it.

One last thing, I got one of those GBA SP's for $50 today! It came bundled with Pirates Caribean and need for speed GBA games.
 
For some reason my Gamerush said that xbox 360 games are NOT included in the 25% off previously played? Is there anything i can do about this?

No, each store can do as they please actually....I think that was the original plan of the 25% off sale anyways.

I thought someone said it was $12? I've heard it is $15 at GC, so maybe I'll take it there instead. You traded game-only? I doubt the UPC would be different on the big box vs the game case itself, but who knows (well, I guess if I opened mine I could see ;)).

The North 7 says that all used games are 25% off, but all the signs at the South 7 store say this exludes next-gen games. Well, apparently, the S7 store just got their signs too early. While it does say this on all the signs, the employees will allow for 25% off on 360, PS3, and Wii used titles.

bought about $43 worth of games/movies

Bought 4X$100 GC's for gifts
Bought 5X$5 GC's for gifts

GOT 9X$5 bonus for buying GC's (mentioned that was strange to both cashier AND manager. Both told me system rings it up automatically).

Left store with >$500 in GC's and about $43 worth of games.

This is the problem with Blockbuster credit - impossible to spend it!

Wow so they let you use a GC to buy smaller GC's and gave you the bonus... SCORE! :bouncy:
 
same thing happened last year. whenever i point out it doesn't make sense, they can't cancel it. last year i once bought a $100 GC all with the free $5 cards (which looked different from the rest). My STATED reason was because it took up less space. They responded by giving be a $100 card and 2 $5 GC's back.

Yeah, sadly the 40 & 7 store has yet to put up all the new amaray signs we got in so their advertising still bares the old crap on it. When they originally sent down the communication it was specificly PS2/Gcube/Xbox/PSP/DS. I guess they gave in about 2 weeks later and allowed it on all games. So despite what the sign says, its on every used game.

Also.. no reprices this week as far as I know. I checked the emails, and nothing besides a retail DVD reprice. Also don't expect any systems coming in the next week, shipment looks sparse.
 
Futurama is for some reason still at the N 7 Blockbuster in Blue Springs, how hard is it to find?

Plus I paid off Warioware at the North 7, so all is great
 
Haha, found a local GR that is still giving the Bonus $5 when you trade 3 games in. So, today I got an extra $20 in trade credit that I wasn't expecting. Now if these stores would only get some systems in, that would be perfect.

No, he means Blockbuster. Every one I've ever been to sells used games. Not the selection of a full game store by any means, but usually not bad.

Gun for the GC is $2 :cry:. I was hoping it might be higher despite the very low value it has for the other systems as, before this TRU sale, I'd never seen it anywhere since release at $49.99. Also, unlike the XBox and PS2 versions, every BB is not overflowing with the GC version.
 
Anyone know if the Gamecube consoles have dropped in price?

I've seen maybe one Pokemon XD bundle and a new GC console . I would call but it might raise a red flag to the employees who have been known to stash the good stuff.

I got the same value, but only traded Game only. I don't know what I will use the mic for though. They tried to scan it and had to input it manually.
 
Hey, did Gamerush ever get in Trauma Center for the Wii? I've got an extra Monster Rancher Evo just sitting around that I'll probably drop off there for a 1/2 off copy of Trauma Center.

Gamerush gives $24 for Monster Rancher Evo, correct?

I haven't been in a GR in months, do they stock Wii Points Cards or accessories? I got Monster Rancher Evo for $10 at TRU so it's like getting a classic controller or points card half off.
