System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.
I checked at my blockbuster today and they said this deal does NOT start today. Maybe its gamerush only. He did say he was expecting the B2G1 free sale to start very soon though, he guessed maybe friday. Going to be checking a few more today as recon before sale so i'll let you know what other managers say.
I will be heading out to GameRush over lunch as well to see what the scoop is (or to listen to the GR employees sing showtunes and children's songs). Either way, I'll report back my findings.
I don't think someone is "WATCHING" 50 movies a month ;)

I'm going to check out the deal today, as I have to return my total access movie today. Too bad the online service is starting to suck with HD/Blu-Ray releases.
Hah
I used to do that for games n dvds but i realized i could never watch or play them all. One worker at BBuster once asked me how fast my burner was. I was like ?? ;)

Just got back from Gamerush. Here is the deal. YES the Buy 2 Get 1 free started today on all games EXCLUDING Wii, 360 and PS3 games. They also had Gamboy Advance SP's for $39.99 used, and PS2's for $89.99 used.

Like most BB/GR sales, the computer probably isn't smart enough to know that those games aren't included, so it will probably be YMMV based upon the cashier.

Okay, so the sale is definitely in effect and it automatically gives you the free game upon the cashier hitting "Total". To me, this would mean that it is valid at regular Blockbusters as well since they get the same updates in their computers. The sign does say that it excludes Wii, X360, and PS3 games, but I didn't try any to see how they would ring up.

And a random trade-in price:

GCN - Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles $6
I can confirm its valid at regular blockbusters
Yep, went into my local non-GR BB and they had signs up all over the place. They actually had some nice 360 games there. I should have tried it while the promo was new (it excludes them in the very tiny fine print on the signs but they may not realize that).

Of course it figures that the local BB would have all the signage up and GR would know nothing about it until looking in the MAP (as another CAG told me was the case at mt GR). Aren't they supposed to follow that thing to see how to set up their store? Sheesh...

Yeah, my GameRush had it, but there were NO decent games for PS2/XBOX/PSP that I would want to play. I didn't try the 360 games.

Since I owned a PS2 a LONG time ago, I figured I would catch up with my PS3 to play some games....but nothing peaked my interest. There was only 1 game I wanted...oh well.

Saw this at Blockbuster the other day. I bit on a few games back when they ran the 25% off promotion, however it seems that they have actually marked up the price of several games for the B2G1 promotion. I confirmed this by peeling back a few stickers on used games and saw that they marked a few titles up $5 & $10.

You know I thought that was the case. Thanks for verifying.

Wow, amazing that they raised prices....nto sure if I noticed that though.

I checked another one today at lunch...nothing at all worth getting. They had no signage up either.

I need to get as many new games as I can while the getting is good...

Has anyone seen Rogue Galaxy at their GR? Of course, I have it preordered but I wouldn't expect any kind of call. Actually, I have it preordered at EB as well and they didn't even call me. I'm hoping I can cancel the EB preorder and save my credit there though if GR gets it in.

I checked in the preorder system for a few DS games and they are NOT in there, which is odd: Lunar Knights and Wario Master of Disguise. Lunar, in particular, comes out pretty soon so it's wierd they wouldn't have that in yet. That is another I was hoping to get at GR instead of EB.

nice new avatar :)

I'm off to either EB of Gamerush to buy 3 xbox games.

2 quick questions:

Which is better KOTOR 1 or 2?

Who will give me a better deal on Halo, Halo 2, and KOTOR/KOTOR2 for buy 2 get 1 free, EB or Gamerush?

Thanks.

OK, I could really use some help on this one. I need to move GR credit over to GC ASAP. With the Buy 2 Get 1 free I figured I could snag some decent even-value trades (especially with the 20% bonus GC has running now - which ends this weekend).

What I need to know are those GR games which are a bit lower than most other places. Mostly I can only think of the PSP games like Wipeout and Hot Shots Golf at $6.99. With Buy 2 Get 1 free those might end up being decent trade-ins to GC. Feel The Magic for DS is another possibility ($7.99 or so at GR, trades for $5 at GC). But does anyone know of any particularly cheap PS2/Xbox games? I'm thinking Gun might be a good one - what is that at GR these days? (I'm pretty sure it trades for $5 at GC).

I'm working on getting GC trade-in prices for the PSP games, and can check any others that people think might be especially cheap at GR.

Edit - Just called GR and they haven't gotten Rogue Galaxy in yet :bomb:.
It's not Friday. ;)
Yeah, but this is a PS2 game, not some niche forgotten DS/GC/Wii release. I thought they got PS2 games when they were supposed to and only pushed the Nintendo stuff off till Friday (or weeks later). It's been a while since I had a PS2 preorder though so maybe they've all gotten crappy. (I just know FF XII was there day of release).
Which is better KOTOR 1 or 2?
KOTOR 1...by far. Endings for both lightside and darkside were awesome, KOTOR2's ending was crap. Don't forget Jade Empire, another great game.
Why would it have to be Friday for Gamerush to have Rouge Galaxy? Bought mine at Bestbuy today for 24.99 ($10 off coupon + a $5 reward certificate)
That's typically the day that GameRush receives / puts out their new games.

Traded in some games today.

Xbox 360:
Chromehounds $15
LOTR Battle $15
Hitman Blood Money $22
Call of duty 2 $22
GRAW $22

Xbox:
Blitz The League $6

Found out something interesting today. I bought 3 games at $9.99 and 3 games at $14.99. The 2 free games were deducted at $9.99. I do not know why I expected 1 of the free ones to be $14.99. I will have to make separate purchases in groups of 3 the next time.
Anybody know some trade in prices on Wii games ?
The Wii section in the Wiki is practically an empty space.
No, but it's safe to say $30-$35 for most of the better games (Zelda, Elebits, Rayman, WarioWare, etc).

I updated the wiki with toocool17's trades. Keep 'em coming...
I'm guessing his trade values mean Chromehounds and LOTR are $29.99 new now (and $24.99 used)?
I'll have to see if my store has these if I end up getting a 360 there soon.
Anybody know some trade in prices on Wii games ?

According to their trade board yesterday, Zelda, Wario Ware, and Elebits all get $30. It doesn't appear that any Wii game gets more than $30, as the other quoted prices I saw were $27 and $24 (not sure exactly which Wii games these prices attach to).

AFAIK, only games retailing for $60 have a chance at having a $35 trade-in value, and even then it's not guaranteed. They're definitely offering less compared to the golden years of the past ;)

Has anyone traded Madden 'o7 for the Wii recently ?

I'm curious how mucxh credit this gets becuase no one seems interested in trading another Wii game for it here at CAG.

As I posted earlier, the lame Red Steel for WII gets $30. So it's almost like trade 2 WII games get 1 free except that you get an extra $10 in GR credit! Provided you trade in 2 $30 games of course.

Well, I was just looking at the CAGwiki where it showed Red Steel at $35 from 1/6. Sometimes the trade-ins are a bit higher than normal for a few weeks after release - though I'm surprised Red Steel would have been that much so long after it came out.

So yeah, $30 is more realistic, with adjustment down to $27 or so after a few months (even if it still sells for $44.99 used).

Went to GR this afternoon. Totally forgot about the B2G1 (I really just went in to return a movie), and I didn't see any signs to remind me.

Things I did see:
Rogue Galaxy for PS2
Hotel Dusk for DS (bought the only one I saw)
PS3 Blu-Ray remotes
Fuzion Frenzy 2 and Battlestations Midway for 360
What? No way! Well, I have both preordered and once again no call (surprise, surprise). If they have Hotel Dusk I think today is the last day I can return my GC copy which I will definitely do!

Edit - called, got the dufus employee. Me: "I wanted to check on some games I preordered". Him: "OK" (to guy in background): "Did we get any new games in?" Guy in background says something about Rogue Galaxy. Him: "Which game?". Me: "Rogue Galaxy and Hotel Dusk for the DS". Him (to other guy): "Rogue Galasy (sic)?". Him (to me): "yes, we have that". Me: "And what about Hotel Dusk for the DS". Him (to other guy): "Hotel something or other?". Him (to me): "No we didn't get that". Me: "OK, will that Rogue Galaxy be held for me since I have it preordered". Him: "I have no idea". Me: thinking WTF!! you moron but saying "OK, well, it should be since I preordered it". Him "OK".

I should add that this guy knows who I am so it shouldn't be a shock to him that I have games preordered.

:bomb: Looks like I better get in there soon so they don't sell it to someone else...
no b2g1free at my gh. However, I did picked up two wii remotes and two wii nubchucks.
Bastard ;). It looks like my GR will never get Wii systems or accessories in. They've gotten a total of about 8 games (and I mean 8 COPIES, not just 8 different games) and will probably get no more (also no more PS3's, though they do have a Sixaxis sitting there at least). I need to find out about that tonight if I can, but based on who answered the phone when I called earlier it is not looking like I'll get any useful info today.

Edit - GR -> GC trade-in alert: As I suspected, there are some good possibilities of transferring GR credit to GC using PSP games. HSG is $6 at GC ($7.20 through Sat with their 20% MVP bonus special), Wipeout Pure is $5.50 ($6.60), and best of all, Daxter is $17 ($20.40!). I think those are $6.99, $6.99, and $14.99 used at GR, right? I think even my local BB has these, so I'm going to snag them there for $21.98 total (By 2 Get 1 free) and then get $34.20 in GC credit. Not bad at all... The added bonus to using PSP (or DS) games is that you have much less concern with the condition of the games (getting disc-based games in decent shape at a regular BB, in particular, is a sketchy proposal).

I went to my local BB and they had the promotion also. But I did notice that their game stock was dwindling and they no longer posted on their board prices for game trade-ins. Since BB sold Rhino, it looks like selling games will soon be over at BB. I haven't been in my local GR for a few weeks, so I don't know the state of that store yet.

Went to my local GR and saw the b2 get 1 free signs over in the used section. Browsed through the cases but didn't see anything worth getting. Oh and I had to chuckle at the sign on the door...

Last week they had a hand written sign with highlighter on it stating "We have PS3's IN STOCK!!!" Today when I went there they had a more "professional" (see black & white Word document printout) sign on the door saying "We have the SUPER RARE PS3's in stock now!" Super rare???? Are they fucking kidding me??

Damn, I wish mine had PS3's in stock, I'd pick one up with the remains of my credit.

I picked up Rogue Galaxy - as expected they did not hold one for me and just put it out for sale. Fortunately it was still there (they had 2 actually - wow, going overboard on new game stock!). They did not have Hotel Dusk.

Some trade-in quotes (did not trade the sports games):

:gc:
One Piece Pirate's Carnival - $9.50
Madden '06 - $2.50

:ps2:
Gretzky NHL 06 - $6
NHL 06 - $6

:xbox:
Nightmare Before Christmas - $12
Gungriffon Allied Strike - $12

Yeah, I've traded about 4 NBC there the last month or two but at this point it really doesn't matter. They aren't gonna care anyway. I have another Gungriffon to bring in as well. $5 bonus is still active even though the signs were replaced by the Buy 2 Get 1 Free signs.

They do have Lunar Knight and Wario Master of Disguise in the preorder system now (weren't there just 4 days ago). I preordered them, but I'm not sure what good it will do me. I cancelled my Metroid Prime 3 preorder since who knows when that will come out.

------------------------

I completely failed in my attempt to buy GR stuff to trade in to GC. All the stuff I was looking at a few days ago was gone. The PSP section, in particular, was heavily raided. And they claim they aren't doing well selling games .

However, GC is becoming my favorite store now. I went in there and the guy asked me if I wanted to buy some 'used' games that were still sealed. He then brought out about 50-60 new, sealed games from every system (about half were PS3/Wii/360 too). He said they were mostly traded in by people from corporate who get free game samples (I'm sure the game companies woudn't be happy to see that they hadn't even opened them to try ). They were selling them as used and with the 20% discount that runs through Saturday. I picked up Ice Age 2 and Super Swing Golf for the Wii for about $60 total. They also had 3 copies of Elebits (which I already have). All were from the corporate trade-ins except for Elebits, Super Swing Golf, and SMB for Wii. They were there because people bought the bundles at the nearby Fry's and traded the bundled games in sealed at GC . If anyone is interested let me know and I can pick them up in the AM probably (probably about $38 for the Wii games, except SS Golf which is a bit cheaper). They also had MGS Portable Ops, Tokobot, Thrillville for PSP, Tomb Raider Legend for GC (unfortunately still $19.99 after discount), PSU and Star Trek Legacy for 360 (and a few others that didn't interest me).

I've figured out another quirk of the GR preorder system. Maybe this has always been there but I haven't noticed it since I used to prepay the entire amount for all my games due to the preorder deal (and not put just $5 down).

We all knew that if a game dropped in price (and you paid in full) you did not get the difference back. Apparently, this is true EVEN when you only put $5 down. I preordered Rogue Galaxy when it was $49.99 but only put $5 down. It came out at $39.99, of course, and when he rang me up it automatically deducted $44.99 from my account (original $49.99 price minus $5 deposit). He had to credit me $10 to make up for it. The same thing happened with Zelda for the Wii (they thought it would be $59.99 originally) but I chalked that up as a fluke. Apparently, though, it keeps the price at time of purchase and does not adjust as the price for that item changes.

So, anyway, just beware what you are paying when picking up prerorders, especially if you have a balance on the account (because then you might not notice $10 more disappearing so easily). I know I had a few Wii games preordered when they were $59.99. I've since cancelled most of them (like Metroid Prime 3), but I'm sure a lot of people will run into this.
I picked up the PS3 Blueray remote at GR....I also noticed some Wii SD cards...still nothing good used though :(
Check Amazon if you're looking for an SD card... I bought a 2 GB card this evening (mainly for my digital camcorder) for about $20.00 (was $27.00 with shipping but still cheaper than retail).

I was just pointing out I saw them. I don't have a Wii. Plus, peoples GameRush credit is cheaper than spending 27 "real" dollars.

Any one by any chance know any games to get at GR and trade them in at GS/EB and get almost the save value? I need to convert my gamerush to gamestop to pay off my preorders. Any help would be great. Also I have seen some of the old $5 brand new games like hot shots golf fore for the ps2, do those still ring up at $5 or did they up the price back? Thanks

Woah easy there... I wasn't trying to slam your post or anything. You're right if you have GR credit it's better to get it there than using cash. I just wanted to let people know of the great price I got on-line. This is CAG after all and folks are always on the lookout for great deals.
