System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Spotted a couple of the $39.99 PS3 SIXAXIS controllers at my GR yesterday. Didn't buy one b/c I didn't have my GCs with me but I'm hoping the controllers will still be there tomorrow when I get back home (out of town until Sunday afternoon). I don't know if my store got more of them or if they had them the entire time but put them out after rearranging stock. It's odd because they have 2 of the controllers in the glass case marked $49.99 and they have 2 more hanging on pegs behind the counter marked $39.99.
Well, GR sells it for $15 new and Toys R Us sells it for $10.50. I knew it was going to be a low trade value, so I'll see if I can't get rid of it somewhere else.
How much do you want for it? I'll buy it. I had it preordered before but took it back because I saw tons of bad reviews. I loved the Deception games for PSX so I still want to try this one.

So has anyone actually bought anything from the B2G1 Free sale?

I just got back from my local BB that was having this sale and there was nothing worth it, except maybe Pikmin for $15 used since it had the original case unlike Gamestop, but $5 more for maybe just the case without the manual. :(

I had to grab a couple copies of (xbox) Ghost Recon 2: SS and GRAW for my bro-in-laws that won't upgrade to 360 so I can play some co-op with them. Also grabbed Baldur's Gate DA 2 and NBA 2K7 (all games $14.99) to ebay to help offset the costs.
Crazy that they only give that little for Trapt. It's a tough game to find, and the only place I've seen it new was Fry's for the full $50. In fact, a peek at PriceGrabber shows its lowest new price being $45 @ Amazon.
Bizarre, you can pick it up under $15 on ebay new.

Here's a question. When does GR generally do their clearances? There is a copy of Minnish Cap new at one of the local GRs but I really don't want to pay $30 for it, as it's dropped everywhere else.

Sorry, I should've clarified my post a little more. The copy of Fable I found for $4.99 was at a REGULAR Blockbuster store. We're not privileged enough to have a Gamerush ANYWHERE around here.

Hell, the closest Gamecrazy is about 30-40 miles away, down in a little town called Hazleton, Pennsylvania. All my area has is a woeful glut of Gamestop owned stores, a bevy of Wal*Marts(including one that tonight I found sealed copies of Dino Crisis 2 for PS1 at, marked $29.99) and about 4-6 Kmart stores.

And, of course, the requisite FYE store per mall, which IS better on trade values IMO, but horrid on prices.

For the PS2, I picked up Ace Combat Zero, Flatout 2 and Smackdown vs. Raw 2006, $51. After trade-ins that translates into just under $23 in real money for 3 games. I've generally been able to flip games for about $2.25 for every $1 spent on flip fodder.
I've generally been able to flip games for about $2.25 for every $1 spent on flip fodder.
Hah! I'm currently running at $2.47 per $1 - that's over my entire history of trading at BB/GR (yes, I'm a geek and have it all in a spreadsheet - mostly just to keep track of my credit though as that's how I found out about the "adjustments" they made to my account). Of course the $5 bonus running continuously since late last Summer (at my GR) has helped tremendously. Too bad the credit is now mostly useless .

I have yet to buy anything with B2G1. I could really use any tips on even trades at EB or GC though to transfer some credit. I really should be buying stuff to do that with, but I have no idea where to start (all the promising PSP games were gone). It's too bad EB isn't having a trade-in promo at the same time like during the GR clearance last year.

IAmTheCheapestGamer, though they have much smaller stock, it is more likely you will still find some clearance gems at regular Blockbusters. Though it is surprising Fable stuck around if it was actually marked $5. There are a ton of $2.50 - $5 clearance games that will still ring up that way at all (non-franchise) Blockbusters. You really need to have the list though as most stores will not have retagged them (which is good!). I assume you can dig that list up from the previous GR thread. It should be kept alive for just this reason.
If I didn't already HAVE Fable, I would definitely be picking it up at that price.
I'm just sayin' - you ought to print out the old GR clearance list and bring it with you when you visit regular BB's. You might find a gem or two hidden there priced at regular MSRP (but really 75% off).

True, since it seems like their last gen stock is pretty well gone and only the used last gen titles are still there. Though, I only have an interest in certain titles, most of which I have already.

I haven't bought anything in the B2G1 sale because my GR only has a bunch of crap titles left. They have a few used Wii and PS3 titles. I've been tempted to just play dumb and see if they'll let me get the promo on those.
For the PS2, I picked up Ace Combat Zero
May I ask the used price on that? Last I saw was ~$35 and I'm waiting for a drop. Yes, even with a 2/1 sale. I'm that darn cheap.
May I ask the used price on that? Last I saw was ~$35 and I'm waiting for a drop. Yes, even with a 2/1 sale. I'm that darn cheap.
$25 used before any discount.

Oh no... this is what I 'kinda' afraid would happened..

I preorder Zelda (cube) a longgggg time ago (with those extra $5, preorder any game for $29.99)... must be at least 1 1/2 year (or more) and today just got a wii, so decide to go pick it up.. HOWEVER.. they don't have that in record anymore in my account.. (and ofcourse. i don't have any receipt anymore :( )

Am I basically screw? the chic that work there (she still remember me from trading alot back then) suggest for me to call the BB 1-800 number and see if they have my record in full at that store. Is there anyway for me to somehow get the game? or am I out of luck now? thanx

I think if you'll research this thread io has had some very good suggestions for folks in this situation. I don't remember the full details but I believe it involves the store employees calling corporate to try and straighten out lost preorders.

Exactly. The STORE should call that number - not you. They can ask them to research the history of your account to find the preorder and see that it wasn't cancelled any time after that. Go back in when a manager is working and have them straighten it out for you. When I did that they got it figured out on the phone, while I waited, that my preorders were put in and not cancelled or switched. However, then they gave me the runaround about getting DM approval for the refund (or reinstatement of preorders which is what they eventually did). The DM didn't want the responsibility either in my case. No one wanted to take responsibility for basically giving me $100 in credit (Zelda and FF XII preorders) but eventually the manager just gave me 2 new preorders. Kind of silly considering what's been happening at the store recently (BTW, it is closing).

Thanx Chitown/ io.. I kinda knew I could get help here.... so is it a common problem esp for Zelda preorder? since it's been like ages that most of us preorder that?
.... I'm not even sure most of the people who work there are the same crew that I usually meet in there... oh well.. I'll try that soon and worst case.. if I don't get it.... then too bad I guess. since I have tons of credit from them..... and not having the receipt anymore probably doesn't help my case neither.. we shall see :)

It happens with anything over a year old - most commonyl with Zelda and FF XII since they had those in the system during the height of the preorder deal and then both games got delayed a year. But I have almost had it happen on a few other games as well (Okami and Gran Turismo 4 Mobile - both games with excessive delays). There have been reports (rumors ;)) of some GR where this DIDN'T happen. Those stores must have had competant and on-the-ball managers who knew of this problem and worked to prevent it (either extending the preorders or renewing them or something). Gizmo made allusions to them getting lists of soon-to-expire preorders. Either they don't all get these lists or they simply ignore them because most people not only had them disappear without warning, but had to deal with employees (even the manager in many cases) who didn't even know this is possible. Thus they tend to think you are trying to pull one over on them (maybe you had the preorder and then you switched it for something else later).

So, basically, having the receipt won't help, really - as they still need to verify that you didn't cancel/switch it in the 1 1/2 years since then!

The whole BB store or just the GR portion? I haven't checked with the one I have 3 preorders with about the status right now.

My store is closing - the whole damn thing. Not another GR within 1000 miles. It sucks.

i better check my Halo3 pre-order again. I know it WAS in the system a few months ago, because someone laughed about it and said, "you'll be waiting a long time for that"
My store is closing - the whole damn thing. Not another GR within 1000 miles. It sucks.
Sorry to hear that. Is that why you decided to get a 360?

What is the normal GameRush return policy?

My quick story here. I bought 3 games. One was what I thought was Dead or Alive Ultimate for the Xbox. When I got it home, it was only the bonus disc (Dead or Alive 1 remixed). Since that was the main game I watned (and with my huge backlog) I had instant buyers remorse, and went to return them the next day. No return policies are posted, the guy asked if they were defective, I said no. He played around with it for about 3-5 minutes before he said there was nothing he could do. He was rather rude about it (I was annoyed that if I said they were defective, instant return. He let me return DOA for KOTOR II, but I really would rather have my credit back.

Oh well, I would live with it, except for the fact that the manager was rude to me also (not worth getting into, I'm sure I was annoyed and helped to bring it out). Just wanting to know if it's normal not to be able to return. They were used, it was less than 24 hours, and I don't have a history of returns with them.

I would have said they're defective, because they have a 30 day guarantee on used games.

That said, GameRush/Blockbuster hates to return ANYTHING. I have notes on my account simply because I've returned two or three games (while buying 30) in the last year and a half. And you can only return at the store you purchased from (I think that's a problem with the employees not wanting to take merchandise that wasn't theirs, moreso than a restriction in the computer). They're just not set up to handle returned merchandise.

Yeah, that's an employee issue (mainly a manager issue). You can technically return things at any other GR/BB, but most managers don't like to do it.

Hey lordxixor101, just so you know, you CAN return the stuff due to it not being what you wanted, but realize that you will only get store credit, not any kind of refund (which is why an exchange of games is easier than just returning all 3 and leaving the credit on your account).

And to botticus, you definitely can return stuff to another BB/GR. The reason managers don't usually want to is that their store will take a hit for defective/returned merchandise that wasn't their's to begin with. I know personally, if someone comes into my store with another stores merchandise, I'll give them a hard time about it, but will usually do it anyways, with the stipulation that next time they have a problem, they go back to the store it came from.

That's pretty crappy to treat customers badly because your store has a bad policy. From the customer's perspective GameRush is GameRush. They had no part in the policy and are certainly not likely to be aware of it and shouldn't be concerned about it if they are.

Well, as bad as GR is with this sort of thing, I've found Gamecrazy to be worse. They won't touch another store's merchandise (I mean another Gamecrazy). They act like you got it at Walmart or something .

I guess this is one area where EB/GS has them both beat with the convenience (lots of locations, can go to any) and policy (can return used games for any reason for 7 days I think).

The manager let me return some defective things I bought from another store during the Classic Plastic sale even though technically they didn't do that. It was the only time I've ever heard someone say "Whatever makes the customer happy." Every other trip to that store has been downhill.

^^^^ Yeah, all I wanted to do was swap a gutted copy of a new game I bought just 1/2 hour before at another GC store for a sealed one I saw at the second store. They told me I'd have to deal with the store I bought it from (which, of course, was a stupid thing to say since the first store obviously didn't have a sealed copy). If ever there was a "make the customer happy" opportunity with little risk for the store this was it. I had the game and dated receipt in a Gamecrazy bag - they could check to see all the contents were in the game, and they could still sell it as new just like the other store did.

Oh well, it was no big deal to me in the end, just annoying. Since then, though, I've had better experiences at GC (like getting 2 new/sealed Wii games sold to me as used games during the 20% off used game promo - someone had traded them in that way). I just don't try to return things to different stores and keep that in mind when I'm making purchases (I've passed up several things as a result so it is their loss).

Botticus - did they get FF VI or Lunar Knights at your GR Saturday or today? And of course, now we have to wonder if (unlikely) and when (who knows) they will get Wii Play in .

Well,

The thing with my story is that I went back to the same store, and they told me they couldn't do anything if it wasn't defective. Plus, store credit would be fine with me (I used store credit to buy the items).

So, reading this is making me mad, if I have time on Wednesday, I may have to go up there and see if the manager is there (busy until Wednesday).
That's pretty crappy to treat customers badly because your store has a bad policy. From the customer's perspective GameRush is GameRush. They had no part in the policy and are certainly not likely to be aware of it and shouldn't be concerned about it if they are.
I'm not trying to treat the customer crappy or anything like that. Like I said, I'll usually do it, but in the process I let them know that we prefer that they go to the store they got it from since it causes problems. Obviously there are plenty of reasons why they can't/won't do it at the original store (bought from a store while they were out of town, other store doesn't have desired title, etc.), which is why I can/will do the returns, but I wan't to make sure they're aware of what's going on. In no way (at least from my perspective) am I being rude to the customer.

Botticus - did they get FF VI or Lunar Knights at your GR Saturday or today? And of course, now we have to wonder if (unlikely) and when (who knows) they will get Wii Play in .
I'll be calling again this afternoon. Went ahead and snagged FFVI from Circuit City with a gift card (I'll take my GR copy back there if they get it in) on Saturday since I couldn't wait and ended up putting in 8 hours of it so far; not sure what my plans are for Lunar Knights yet. Though given the relatively small amount of credit I have remaining, I might as well just buy another DS game or two that I'm mildly interested and be done with it.
$25 used before any discount.
Thanks. It's getting closer to buying price.

Sorry to hear about your loss io. Because your loss is our loss. *sniffs* We'll miss you, buddy. When are they closing? And are there more (BBs) in your area which are closing?
My store is closing - the whole damn thing. Not another GR within 1000 miles. It sucks.
Sorry to hear that. You will be missed in this thread.

io and Chitown!! THANXXXX!

I called Gamerush and they sorted out the lose copy of Zelda for me.. unfortunately they only have the Cube version for me and I can't switch it to the Wii.. oh well...haha.. better than nothing i guess

Glad to hear you got things sorted out. Also io deserves all of the credit. He seems to be the go to guy for GR help. It's sad to hear they're going to be closing down his store. They closed the GR closest to me in Oct 06' but I have another that's about a mile away or so.

BTW anyone know what the trade in value is on Gunpey for the DS? I checked the wiki but didn't see it. I picked up Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble and Gunpey for the DS in the clearance isle this afternoon at Target.

They don't take Gunpey at all. I was told that it's not in their computer system, so they can't even scan it. Someone else in this thread said the same thing a few pages back.

That were me - it isn't in the system for some reason. Wierd, as I have never seen that before. Gamecrazy gives $11 for it with MVP.

Early March. There are plenty of BB's around here and no others are closing. This particular one was not doing very well. They put it in an area they thought was going to grow a bunch and it didn't. It really has nothing to do with GR. I just wish they had put the GR in a better area (though this one was convenient for me) so it could have been attached to a more robust Blockbuster. I was assured a ways back that they would be around for at least 2 more years because of the long lease they had. But apparenty they decided it was worth breaking the lease. One of the reasons is that the lease was expensive (this is a NICE store - nicer than any other Blockbuster I've ever seen).

Anyway, I was keeping this quiet because at first they told me they might have a 50% off sale on new games. I was going to spring that at the last minute to offer to pick things up for people (and keep the lurkers at bay). But now they say they are just sending everything to other stores. The only sale they will have is on the DVD rental stock (a big MEH for that!).

I imagine I will still keep tabs on this thread for 3 reasons:

1) Though they have come back down to earth quite a bit, BB/GR still has some of the best trade-in prices. I'll still flip the occasional "Druaga" or "Red Ninja" that can be obtained easily and doubled or tripled in BB credit. Plus I have a regular BB a mere 2 minute drive from my house, so it is the most convenient trade-in place I have.

2) I may start travelling to Atlanta a bit, and I can spend said credit at GR stores there.

3) I still have credit left and will want to know what is on sale, etc (and maybe beg and plead for people to pick things up for me ;)). What is really going to hurt is the next time GR has a big clearance sale like last summer and I see several games I knew my GR had .

What hurts most of all is that I had this nice pile of credit that was all set to pay for all the DS and Wii releases for the rest of the year. I have a little EB and GC credit, but not that much. I have the next month to transfer credit from GR to GC, but despite the B2G1 I can't find anything worth the trouble to use to xfer.

Besides that, my dilemma is what full-priced games I should pick up now and which I should pass on, hoping to get them for half in cash or, even better, with my limited GC/EB credit. Do I buy Bully at $40, or wait for it to be $20 (most likely will wait)? What about Xeno III at $30? I already picked up the DS Mega Man game that I would have waited on otherwise. There's a few Wii games there, but I think I will wait on those (Red Steel, Tony Hawk, etc - would rather get those sub-$20). Also, do I buy one of their ancient Xbox 360's (some have Dec 2005 manufactured dates) or just forget it and buy one at Costco (where I get the warranty to boot)? But then, they DO have extra controllers and Arcade Unplugged at my GR (which is in the Costco bundle) so I can save a ton of cash by going with GR... If I DO that I won't have much credit left, but I'm hesitant...

Anyway, keeping #3 in mind, in the short term I'm looking for Burnout Revenge and Viva Pinata for the 360, and Wii Points cards. I think, at this point, I can safely assume my store isn't going to get any Wii accessories (still hold out some hope for Wii Play, but nothing else). If anyone can get a hold of those I can compensate in hard-earned GR credit (plus shipping, etc).

io, sorry to hear that your only GR is shutting down. Here's to hoping EB will have their trade 3 get $10 so you can move some of that credit. Hope you stick around and help shipwreck and botticus keep this thread alive.

Oh yeah.. One for the wiki

Metal Saga - $24

The Buy 2 Get 1 Free is only on last Gen stuff right? Because I went today and they said it wasn't for the 360. Anyways I picked up Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 (Xbox 360) for $25! I also picked up Test Drive Unlimited for the same.

OK, wierd thing today. I go into GR (and of course, no Lunar Knights, FF VI, Wii Play, or Ratchet & Clank PSP) and the manager asks me if I bought a 360 yet. Apparently, since yesterday, they sold 4 of their 6 units! Damn! Either it is a wierd coincidence, or we have more lurkers here than I thought...

Anyway, I picked up a used Viva Pinata so I'm good on that. Still looking for Burnout Revenge and Wii Points cards.

I need to decide ASAP if I want to buy a 360 there. I thought I'd have through early March to decide.

Does anyone know what Monster Rancher Evo gets nowadays? I was able to get CC to take the $5 off Best Buy coupon and picked one up for $12 the other day. I'm thinking One Piece Pirate's Carnival may have finally dropped because they were tagged $19.99 used there - but maybe not (it was a $9.50 trade-in before). These are available en masse at Best Buy for $5 by the way (after coupon).
KC area GRs got some Wiis in today. Finally, I was able to snag one.:)
Damn they finally got some... I had been checking with the store near Antioch shopping center forever. Did they get any accessories?
Do people still trade games into gamerush? I haven't seen anything new for the last 6 months at the 3-4 gamerushs that I frequently visit.
The only games I see at my Blockbuster nowadays are the ones I've traded in, which include 10 Samurai Champloo's I noticed the other day.

Every 360 game they have came from me. Most I can buy now for less than what they paid me
