System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Well, I'm surprised there isn't more activity in this thread. But today at GR (where none of my games were in) the manager confirmed a massive 50% off sale next week. He thinks it will be NEW and USED games as he says the other (non-GR) stores in the area have been put on notice about the sale as well. He also is under the impression the list will be enormous. To top it all off, he thinks the list will come in tomorrow (Sun) morning and I can call and see what's on it at that point. As my last useful act (beyond begging people to send me games ;)) in the GR thread, I will try to get as much as the list as I can ;).

I've bought several full-priced games the last week or two to use my credit in case they ship stuff off (so far it appears the game stock is still intact, at least). Hopefully I can return/rebuy if some of them end up on clearance. I'm disappointed I'll miss out on the 75% in a few months ;).

Of course, this could all end up being a big letdown. But it seems, SOMETHING, in any case, is happening next week. (There's a small chance he's wrong about new stock and it could just be used games - we'll see).

Just for clarity io, this sale isn't just at your [closing] store, but chain-wise?

Yeah, it matches up with Sulik2's report about the 50% off sale because I simply asked the manager if there was a sale coming up next week and HE told me 50%, just like Sulik2 said. So I'd say it is on. The price drops are being downloaded this weekend and he also said there were things dropping at regular BB's (which are not closing near me). So, no, nothing to do with my store specifically. Though it couldn't have come at a better time for my store (and for me) ;). If this is as good as I'm hoping I'll be all out of credit by mid-week.

Chitown - No idea about next gen. We're not even positive if it is used and new (or just one or the other). I guess we'll find out tomorrow. East Coasters can find out before me probably, but I'll definitely be hitting up my store. Unfortunately the guy opening is not someone I know well, so I'm not to sure I'll be able to copy the list or anything, but I might be able to look at it at least. The absolute best would be if I can convince him to fax it to me, but that is unlikely ;).

By the way, I was in my hard-luck, money-losing BB/GR Saturday night and the place was packed with people renting and buying movies (nothing is on sale yet either). Some guy bought one of their last used game systems too - a PSP. If that place was losing as much money as they claimed, then I don't know how much better any BB could do...
 
looking forward to a possible clearance fiesta like last year...a pre frenzy thank you to those who feed us the sale info...

i did drop by GR on friday night and picked up the much maligned Rumble Roses XX - Xbox360 style - at a new sticker price of $19.99. if this is public knowledge already than so be it.

Well I'm certainly hoping its new, as I scoped out the GR tonight and the used section was disastrous...nothing but old sports titles, the usual unwanted bargain bin fodder, and disc only games. The new games looked promising, I saw a lot of Xbox/PS2 titles whose prices looked suspiciously high...you know the kind, $30 games that have been sitting there for months, ready to drop. Thing is, even a 50% drop isn't going to be good enough for a lot of these titles - you know its going to be stuff like Driver Parallel Lines and The Suffering - Ties that Bind. Well, I guess we'll see, hopefully 1 or 2 gems are in there.

I asked about the 50% sale today at my GR, and they said it'll start Tuesday, and be mostly focused on getting rid of NGC and XBOX games (new and used), + some PS2. They didn't think there would be many 360 games, but they hadn't received the full list yet.
 
As for 360 games on the clearence, the ones I can recall from the reprice were:

-Cars
-Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent
-Marvel Ultimate Alliance

There's maybe 6 more, I just can't recall them. Many of the discounted games were ones already featured in previous sales/clearences at other stores like Circuit City. Amoung the standouts, Xenosaga III (PS2) was towards the top of my want list. I go into work today, the list numbers around 400 games so I can't remember the entirety of the list, but I'll write down some noteworthy ones.


edit: Also, discovered something interesting. DDR Universe (X360), which is scheduled for a release next week, is listed at $59.99 for the bundle. At other stores the bundle is retailing for $79.99. My store has one on order, which has already been snagged ;). However, I'm sure other stores still have some open for pre-order.

Hmmm... Well I didn't get a chance to stop into GR, and it's a good thing. I just called and they said the only list they got was to reprice a bunch of stuff from $14.99 to $14.98 so they aren't sure what to do - they don't want to waste time restickering stuff for 1 cent less :rofl:. I'm just going to assume they haven't gotten the full list yet.

I had the same type of thing happen with a new copy of Lumies I bought over the summer. It was stickered $9.99 but rang uo $12.99. I bet that's what would happen if I tried to buy one of those $39.99 stickered PS3 controllers. My store at last check still had at least one left. I've been meaning to get one but I don't have any games for the system yet so I don't have a need for it.
 
Wow, Too many Clearance games on sale this MONTH. It's good to buy all the games you wanted & it's bad cos your wallet take heavy damage.

I'll hit GR tomorrow on my day off & Hope I hIT BARGAIN ;)

So...is this a confirmed Tuesday start, or no? I thought that pricing updates went into effect over the weekend.

Do I need to go hit up my GameRush stores tomorrow or wait until Tuesday? Since they've still got some Cube games I want to get, I'd really appreciate a confirmation. :)
 
here is a question, If GameRushis a part of BlockBuster.. and i don't havea GameRush around me, will my BlockBuster have this clearance deal?
 
I just called the two stores in my area (death knell, I know) and neither one of them said they've got any sales running at the moment.

Unless I hear otherwise here, I'm assuming a Tuesday start for this one.
 
Talked to one of my insiders (who in the past has let me take a look at re-price lists) at my local BB and he said there was supposed to be a clearance sale starting tomorrow, but they hadn't even recieved any re-price list for it.

So, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that this probably isn't going to happen this week. Maybe it's being delayed while corporate gets its act together?

We'll find out tomorrow I guess.

If I remember correctly, the list for the last clearance went out very late as well. I want to say that it even started on a weird day (ie. not a Sunday or a Tuesday). I'll stop in tomorrow and see if I can find anything out though.
 
I called a couple of GameRush stores last night, and they seemed to think that it would start on Thursday, but they weren't certain. I guess we'll see.
 
I checked in with my GR today and the lady looked in her book for any up and coming clearance sales or anything like that and she said she didn't see anything. I saw the sheets she was looking at and they were dated for FEB 27th.
 
Dammit, they need to start this soon or there won't be a store for me to buy them at :lol:. Anyone see Sonic for the Wii in today?

Went to my local Gamerush today and noticed huge stacks of games on the back Gamerush area counter. Each had two price tags, the normal price and a blank one. I spoke to the manager (real nice person, helped me get a Wii even with all of BB/GR's BS) and they confirmed that there is a 50% off sale and it will start tomorrow.

As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

Yeah, me too. I was looking for them, but they were not on that list. It's possible that they were on a different list or something but I doubt it. This looked pretty complete. Like I said, the PSP list was only 5-7 games and they were pretty lame, as I recall, so I don't think they're trying to clearance out much portable stuff. MOST of the list was XB/PS2.

As an aside, I was going to trade in some PS2 games there today, but they were giving less than a buck for most of them now, so I had to take them to a local store that gives out much better credit.

I wonder if they will let me return my Enchanted Arms from a week or two ago and repurchase. That would be nice. There are a couple others I'm going to snag too if they are still there...

Thanks for the info. Do you remember what the sticker price on these were? Looks like I'm going to have to do some GR trade-ins. Are there any good flipper titles out there at the moment? I know my TRU still has a Monster Rancher evo or two left, can anyone confirm if it still gets $19? (The wiki price is 6 weeks old)

Gentlemen, we have a conundrum.

I stopped by my Blockbuster while running an errand, and I was told that the sale starts tomorrow and it's on used games only. Now, my source is probably less reliable (a cashier who claimed to have seen the e-mail from her manager, though she did mention the sale without any prodding from me) and I didn't see the list, so I suspect Lord Alfred's got the correct info, but take us both with a grain of salt until tomorrow.

I know that Enchanted Arms was $39.99 when I bought it a week or two ago - so that might be $20 - fucking incredible. Arcade Unplugged is $29.99 normally. Not sure about the rest.

I just called my GR and they said the prices won't be downloaded until tomorrow. They DO, however, have Sonic and the Secret Rings in today! Yay for GR!
 
Hmmm, I only have blockbusters and none really sell new games...So I guess I am hoping for it to be on used games. Anymore confirmation?

So, after you take 50% off, it's a decent deal. This isn't really a spectacular deal, just solid. I can't even get most of these games used for $25-$30 around here so to get them for that brand new is pretty decent, IMO and I've been wanting all 4.

I'd be interested in Arcade Unplugged but I already have everything I want off of it.

Also, Gothic_Walrus: I specifically asked if there was any clearance on the used games as well, and they told me that it was new games only. I suppose they could've been confused, but I doubt it. They already had the stuff picked out and stacked up for the morrow.
 
I've been holding off on buying Arcade Unplugged hoping for just such a sale. It is the only game they have multiples of at my store.

Damn, this combined with the Fred Meyer and Best Buy clearances means I'm going to have to buy a 360 soon (I'll be up to 12-15 games after the GR sale :rofl:).

It's just as well they don't have any DS as part of it - I think my store has 10-15 total DS games (and some are duplicates).
 
damn...i wish there was a gamerush near me...i would love to pick up Civil War, Arcade Unplugged, Cars, Enchanted Arms for half price (and maybe poker if its $29.99 normally)....if anybody decides they can hook me up i would very much appreciate it;)

Like I said, I think you've got more evidence and stronger evidence than I do. This wouldn't be the first time I've been misinformed, unfortunately, so we'll see how it pans out.

I'd offer to put money down, but between being a broke college student and thinking you're right anyway, something tells me it's not a good idea. ;)
