50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:

The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.




Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

I thought that I saw that on the signs at my store but then again I haven't been up there for awhile so I was hoping maybe the sale changed.
 
If anyone here is intrested i do have a $280 blockbuster giftcard available that should work at gamerush. Sadly i don't have one within 250 miles of me.
 
I'm beginning to wonder how long my GameRush will be around. I wanted to dump one TH8 (PS3) and possibly my Madden 07 and NCAA 07 (if they get enough for the 360). I have Halo 3 pre-ordered there already....and I wanted to get NCAA/Madden 08 possibly. I think I'm down to about $70 credit....

Well, we did hear many times that the sale was ending. It seemed to end a bit later than anticipated, actually. You had 2+ months to get stuff cheap ;).
 
Hmmm, I wonder if trade values will go up on some of those clearnace games now...haha....I want to get rid of NCAA 07, but I cannot justify only gettinga few dollars.
 
Anyone check the price of the Gameboy Micro lately at GR/BB?
I'm guessing they're going for less than $50 now since even Gamestop/EBgames is selling them for that price.
 
Grandia III must not be a mistake because I saw it in Peachtree City or Newnan, GA. Also, Twilight Princess is actually $57.XX (not $57.9X) despite being marked as $59.99 so it ends up selling for $28.XX.

Some of you may have heard of my entire (extensive) collection getting stolen in Spring '04 shortly after I got the confirmed the Wal-Mart Black Friday '03 GameCube bundle by getting it early and posting the receipt (YEAH! Check out that pube on my handle! WOOO!). My broken original GC was repaired and Nintendo sent it directly to my niece and nephew for Christmas leveing me with an early copy of Collector's Edition to review for everyone else.

Well, thanks to sites like this, I've replaced the bulk of the collection at a fraction of the original price. I'm ashamed to have ever spent $50 on a game! Anyway, I have yet to replace everything. One of the GC games I have yet to replace is Mario Kart Double Dash. My reluctance is one-part "refusal to pay $30 for a Player's Choice game" and one-part "But it doesn't have the Bonus Disc my original had!" mentalities. Well, it's finally time to buy it again, but it's either Best Buy for $25 after coupon or Blockbuster. Unfortunately, no BBV around me has it.

In addition to Mario Kart Double Dash, I am also looking for Xenosaga I (just spent $14.99 and $16.95 for ep I & III at Circuit City), Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Disney Mickey Mouse Magical Mirror, WarioWare Twisted, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

I was wondering that myself. I may try and stop by there on the way home tomorrow. I want to see if it's better than MLB 2K7 and find out how much 2K7 is getting in trade (last check it was $36).

I like 2K7 but the framerate slowdown bugs the crap out of me. Also I love the "Road to the Show" mode in last year's MLB and I like the fact you can "fast forward" innings to get through games quicker in MLB.

I stopped by a BBV that had a ton of clearance stuff left when I last checked (Friday) and the section was completely gone! An employee said that they were sent back to corporate. :(
 
Well, I did NOT see MLB 07 (PS3) in store (at least for rental). I'm wondering if they are slowing down on getting everything lately....who knows.

Has anyone traded in THP8 for PS3 or 360 lately? I may dump mine for credit there, since it was like $35 I thought. Or trade in Madden 07 for 360?

ALSO, anyone notice a 360 Elite or Elite Accessories there? Just curious...I have nto seen any at mine.

I asked several people and they have no idea what happens to them afterwords.

I'm kicking myself because there was a game I wanted to buy there but since I was in a hurry I thought I'd just get it next time since I go to Blockbuster a lot. When I went in today, everything was gone! :cry:

Interesting...at my GR they still have most of the clearance games now on the regular racks...I saw X360 Godfather, Just Cause, Madden 07 etc, and some others like PSP Scarface, PS2 Okami here and there.
 
Well I actually only went by one GR (called several others) and the one I went by had pulled all their clearance games and sent them back. In fact, it looked like the pulled other games too because the shelves looked like they had less than usual.

Funny thing though, on the GR counter, a clerk had a stack of empty game boxes (the hard plastic security ones)-- maybe 75-100. It was a lot. I don't know if it's from all the clearance games (there were maybe 30 there?) or maybe they're getting in a new shipment.

Anyways it makes me mad they didn't keep them longer or mark them down more. :(
 
Went to a GameRush yesterday and found a New copy of The Red Star (PS2) for $14.99. This particular store also apparently received a shipment of clearance games from other stores, but it looked like the clearance was over, since the game I brought up rang up at regular price. Looks like no 75% off this time.

Although, it seems that GR is on the decline, however, I think they will get the mainstream games still. I have Halo3 paid off still.

I never get more than my friends and I can use/apply, but that's probably true. ;) Anyway, we should exchange Passport IDs (MSN/Live/Windows Messenger) so we can work together on some things. :) guyinga is local too.

I was going back for Disgaea 2, and the Suikoden games... I'm not a big JRPG and SRPG guy (though I love Fire Emblem), so I wanted to make sure they were worth it first. I snoozed and I lost. D:

What's weird is there's a BB in PTC (PTC for non-Newnan-ites is "Peachtree City") that actually sells games for cheaper prices compared to the Gamerush in Newnan. I forget the location (figures) but it's next to a Wachovia (on Peachtree Pkwy I think IIRC)

Surprisingly, I have managed to snag Disgaea 2 and all the PS2 Suikoden games. I'm planning on keeping them, of course (although if you manage to find them too let me know if they are any good....I got a HUGE backlog of stuff to play through).

I saw Fire Emblem ONCE at BB on Bullsboro and didn't buy it. Nor did I get Zelda: Wind Waker ($9.99 at Hastings!).

I'll PM you some games I saw at Hastings later, even though they aren't anything too great or too amazing (like OMG ICO for $9.99 or something)

Neo, all I know about are Gunpey and Pac-Man Rally for PSP as I posted a week or so ago. I don't know if they are still getting a decent value or not now, but if so and you can find them at Best Buy for $5 (after coupon) they are good...

Heh, well I found a Best Buy with Gunpey and PacMan World Rally and they wouldn't accept the Gamepro coupon (a copy that is). They said they got in trouble for taking them before. I was gonna snag the last 360 controller at my local BB after the trade-ins. As it is I'll wait until another good credit builder comes along.
 
Stopped by my local GR while out shopping today. They had a couple copies of MLB 07' The Show for the PS3. One was for rent (out at the time) and the other for sale in the display case. I asked them about the trade in value for MLB 2K7 for the PS3 and was told it gets $36.

The one you are talking is the Kedron location. There's also another one at Braelinn.
 
So is this deal still going on (sorry, haven't read through all the posts). I would love to pick some of these titles up (if they have them left).

You might still find some of the games from the list, but they will be back to full price, the register no longer rings them up at 50% off.
 
I wish GR would bring back some trade deal....I still may unload a few games though. Debating whether to keep the PS3 or 360 version of THP8. I have a few games I want to get rid of though. As long as I get a few new games, that would be fine by me. Things are just limited lately.

They DID have MLB 07 (Ps3) for rent, but it was out.

Yes, I often check both because they both have "GameRush." The deep-Newnan BBV has no GR but the Sharpsburg-Newnan one does. Even with differing tags, I'd bet that they ring up the same as long as it is comparing GR to GR. Of course, the 50% doesn't show until after they do the clearance/total up thing at the register, so I wonder if the prices really are different.

BTW, we should always use BBV and/or BBV/GR when talking about Blockbuster to avoid confusion with Best Buy.

I was mainly talking about their prices of used games -- the 50% off stuff is the same no matter where you go.

Their used prices at Kedron Village were about a $1 or two cheaper than the Sharpsburg/Newnan one. And it's a LOT more deeper for selection. Ecco The Dolphin for PS2 and KOF: Maximum Impact were a few I got and spotted there.

You probably already know this, but $xx.98 games are clearanced. You can ask them for the price and you don't have to have them total it to see if it's on clearance.

I think GameRush as a whole is more or less dead, unfortunately.

I can confirm this. While at the Jonesboro, GA store (BTW: not much of anything there as most of clearance was sent back) the clerk (seems smarter than usual) said that they were closing the GR there soon. He also said corporate is closing all GRs in the not too distant future.

Sure is a shame. I've gotten a good many super deals there. :cry:

Just ask for them. The routinely throw them away. I got tons of DVD and game cases from my GR even before they closed up (and got all I wanted again when they did ;)).

I've actually gotten them to give me a few game cases for free. The other day they even gave me a PS3 case. I bought my copy of MLB 2K7 a couple months ago off ebay disc only. While I was renting some other titles I asked if I could buy the 2K7 case they had on the wall. The manager told the clerk that was ringing me up to let me have it for free.
