Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Trade-In Price Wiki
I've actually gotten them to give me a few game cases for free. The other day they even gave me a PS3 case. I bought my copy of MLB 2K7 a couple months ago off ebay disc only. While I was renting some other titles I asked if I could buy the 2K7 case they had on the wall. The manager told the clerk that was ringing me up to let me have it for free.
From looking around here I determined that most of their PS3 cases aren't real PS3 cases. Most are thinner clear BD cases with the locking flap (hard to notice, but it un-snaps and then can lock the case). Other than them being clear instead of clear blue, they're exactly like standard BD cases. PS3 cases are larger, possibly to support the retail locking mechanisms. I own a PS3, but I don't own any PS3 games to see this for myself! I've only rented PS3 games and BD movies from BBV and I've been catching up on my backlog.
Has anybody come across The Red Star at any of your stores?
Back on page 66, a poster (Cao Cao) said that they found it for $14.99 new at a GR location.

Thanks.

I've called the 3 GR's closest to me and none of them have it. Just a little more credit to burn...

Mine was the real deal either from a copy of the game that had been traded in or one of the three they opened for rent. It had the cover insert and full instruction manual. When I asked for it I figured they would tell me no because they needed it to keep for display or to give when they sold a copy of the game. I was shocked when they let me have it for free.

Does anybody know if GR is getting the exclusive preorder car on Forza 2? I have credit for just one more game and want to burn it off soon, but not if I can get something free at EB games.

Has anyone pre-ordered or picked up any pre-orders recently? Trying to figure out if I want to trade my games here still. I have a good 3-4 I want to trade in and I know EB/Gamestop sucks and never tried Gamecrazy.

I stopped by today and traded in some games to get MLB 07 The Show for the PS3. Here's a few trade in values:

MLB 2K7 (PS3): $36
MLB 06 (PSP): $7
NCAA 07 (PS2): $6

Trade Values:
- NBA 2K7 (360) - $22
- Madden 07 (360) - $15
- NCAA 07 (360) - $15
- Tony Hawk P8 (PS3) - $36

I pre-ordered NCAA 08....Have about $150 in credit to burn.

Man MLB 07 is 100 times better than 2k7! I love playing the "Road to the Show" mode. The graphics aren't quite as flashy but the gameplay is tons better.

It may be time to trade in 2K7 then....I really wanted to rent it first since I have free rentals, but Blockbuster has ONE copy of it.
Just ask for them. The routinely throw them away. I got tons of DVD and game cases from my GR even before they closed up (and got all I wanted again when they did ;)).
Thanks! I didn't know that -- I could use some extra since a few are broken.
Thanks! I didn't know that -- I could use some extra since a few are broken.
Yeah, well after the day I saw them haul an enormous hefty bag full of nothing but cases to the trash I started asking for any extras they had and didn't feel bad about it at all ;). Better that then the landfill...

Anyways, I actually traded a copy of PacMan World Rally (PSP) again today - still holding strong at $15. This was a regular Blockbuster and it was pathetic what they had. They had gotten rid of what little new games they had and all they had besides used games was OXM and a Spiderman 3 game guide. NOTHING else for sale...

My local store still has a 360 controller and I may snag that, though my use for 3 of them will be limited (my youngest might like to play with me and the my other son occasionally and since it's cheap GR credit, so what the hell...). Besides a few XBLA games, though, what on the 360 is more than 2-player?
It may be time to trade in 2K7 then....I really wanted to rent it first since I have free rentals, but Blockbuster has ONE copy of it.
My GR was the same way. I wanted to rent MLB first to make sure I liked it but after reading all of the reviews and remembering how much fun I had with 06' on the PSP I decided to go for it. Who knows when I'd get a chance to rent it. Plus if GR sold the one new copy of MLB I doubt they'd get another one (not very likely to happen since my store seems to sell almost no new release games from the case). Also I didn't want to chance the trade-in values of my titles dropping while I was deciding since they were all sports and can tank very quickly.

The last time I was at my closest GR, they were re-organizing their new games section down to about two small aisles in the corner. The vultures are circling just overhead, m'boys...

Stopped by what was a few years ago 'one of the top GameRush stores' (based on sales/trades) in Central Florida. What was once the Xbox section is now the start of the DVD section... the inventory is much smaller... the B2G1 sale does not includes 360/Ps3/or Wii...

I did notice that the 360 version of Star Wars II (used) is down to 14.99.

(yeah, it's II - edited my message)

I preordered Tomb Raider Anniversary today with a $5 deposit and they told me their system shows it as $49.99 title. Does anyone know if the price drops on release as it should retail for 29.99 everywhere else? Not sure if this is usual as I have never done much business with gamerush.

Lego Star Wars 2 is NEW for $20 everywhere, and there's a new version coming out this fall that includes Lego Star Wars II AND the first one that was never released on the 360, new graphics, new levels, and online co-op, so purchase comes with a caveat.

Last time I went the new games were cleaned out from all platforms there was like 8 crap games on an endcap..wheres all the new games going?

Im wondering how everyone is pre ordering games when they have none for sale?

2 diferent stores ive been to basicly all cleared out.

Its the same way at my store. However I believe on preorders they just order an additional copy of the one they will receive for rental, at least thats the only thing i can figure. I hope they will bring their new games sections back to life, i would hate to see gamerush completely dead.

Checked my GR out on the way home. The only new games left in the store were the ones in the glass case. All of the other games along the walls were cleared out. Also the used game racks were pretty empty.

The two GRs I've been to recently both only had one aisle of new games, and barely any of them are actually recent. As an example of this, I was able to get a new copy of Advanced Wars DS for $20. Apparently this game is rare now (goes on eBay for like $45+), but here it was just sitting on the shelf with the rest of the old new DS games (I don't think they had any DS games from at least the last six months).
Advance Wars DS is rare?
Apparently so, especially when you look at some of the prices on eBay. I only found out when I made an offer to a fellow CAG on the game last week, and he told me it was going for that much on there. I think it's because it's out of production or something.

Holy crap I nabbed a copy on clearance at Target a few months ago for about $5! I might have to throw it up there and see what I can get for it.

Haha, I'm keeping mine, since I haven't played it yet, but I might check another GR to see if I can score another one and put it on there. I think just about every GR I checked during the clearance had at least one copy of it, so it might not be that hard to find at least one other copy still.

If anybody can find a copy of The Red Star (for no more than $15) I have $12.50 in GR credit and $10 cash that I'll trade for it shipped media mail w/delivery confirmation. If anyone can help me out please PM me. Thanks.

Well, my GR keeps taking pre-orders and the game section is about the same....a lot of stuff is gone, but they still have the same amount of floorspace dedicated to it.

Hopefully they keep the games until Halo 3, since i have that paid for. Also have NCAA 08 preordered and soon Madden 08 more than likely.

GR is closer to dead than ever. they used to think the money might be in games. now they think its in online, and blockbuster doesn't have the vision to be able to do both well.

i thought it had potential but now they just don't care. my store rarely does preorders, we get a few trades a day. now they just want us to get online activations, and back in the day, they would ask for our shift goals for things like presales and trades.

also, they don't schedule people to actually do GR things at my store. oh but they did do one shift this week!

My GR just called to tell me Forza 2 came in. I need to pick it up and return it to TRU, where I bought the copy I've been playing. I think this is the last of my preordered games there and no more credit, so goodbye GR. Thanks for the (sorely missed) excellent deals.

The 2 GR's that I frequent have become pretty dry. Nothing new to be found in the game section. I hope they run another deal on used games soon though. I would like to rape them one more time before I say goodbye.

Anyone know if PacMan World Rally and Gunpey (both PSP) have held up? I have another set to trade in and was thinking of grabbing that last 360 controller at my local Blockbuster (then I'd have 3 - not too useful but sometimes both my sons want to play Worms or Aegis Wing something like that with me).

Thing is, I already traded both of those and picked up a controller so I'd feel wierd doing exactly the same thing again. On the flip side, what do I care at this point if they choose to ban me or something?

Sigh... Remember the good 'ol days when Gamerush cared enough to investigate trade histories and ban people? Who ever thought we'd pine for those days? And let's not forget our fallen insiders, CoreyCubed and drfrielgood. It seems GR doesn't care enough to fire employees who give us the inside scoop on deals either. So sad ;).
Anyone know if PacMan World Rally and Gunpey (both PSP) have held up?
PacMan still got $15 on Friday.

I have one more - I'll probably trade it in tomorrow in case it drops on Tuesday for some reason.

Well just got back a little while ago from my local GR and had a nice chat with one of the managers and got some news. She said they are scaling back a lot around August or September/October (pretty much stop selling new games except for a selected few -- I guess brand new ones that have just come out). Also she said BB doesn't really care about GR anymore but we already knew that. She did say they'd likely run some promos for used games in August or so.

I would assume they will get just the "mainstream" releases then...like Madden, Halo3, GTA IV....we'll see. I hope that is the case, since I plan to use the rest of my credit on some mainstream games anyways.

The manager at my now defunct Gamerush was telling me regular Blockbusters would start carrying a small selection of new games again (after they got rid of them all, at least around here, last Fall). But maybe he was mixed up and really meant that was what GR would do from now on .

Anyway, some phone quotes from today:

PSP
Gunpey - $12.50
Ghost In The Shell - $7
Ultimate Block Party - not in the system

If anyone is in GR and can ask them to look that last one up again I'd appreciate it. Or if they have a used copy have them scan it and see what it comes up for. I have a feeling they just have it listed strangely (since they only look it up by name when you call). (Edit - Never mind, I printed a UPC to bring in with me in a bit).

I'm going to take Gunpey and Pac-Man World Rally in today. I looked at my old receipt and it has been over 3 weeks, so it should be no problem. I just hope that 360 controller is still there, or otherwise the credit is pretty worthless.

I got 12.50 for Gunpey a couple weeks ago.

With GR scaling back, has anyone heard if they will continue to carry consoles, specifically DS Lites? I'm hoping that the mycokerewards Blockbuster gift cards come back and I'll use one and my credit towards a DS LIte. However, I'd hate to wait the 6-8 weeks or whatever and then GR no longer has DS Lites as we hardly have time to watch stuff off our TIVO (like the last half season of Lost) let alone rent movies!

jdawgg76, I got my $75 in Blockbuster gift cards within 2 weeks when I got them from Coke Rewards. However, I'm doubtful they'll bring that back. They seem to be trending to worse and worse values for the points (for example, DS Lites for 3250 points, Wii for 6250). Obviously the $75 in Blockbuster credit for 750 points was a WAY better deal and I jumped on it when I had the chance (I didn't have enough for the $100 gift card). Now I'm back up to 750 or so but there's nothing worth getting.

Well, I traded Gunpey and PacMan World Rally today. They are still holding strong ($12.50 and $15). The UPC of Ultimate Block Party rang up as "Playstation Game" or something stupid and they said it would be $2 or so (though for some reason they weren't sure ). Anyway, the bad news was that the 360 controller I wanted to snag was gone. They still have two Sixaxis though. That's what I get for procrastinating... :bomb:

So, if anyone wants to trade a Sixaxis for a black 360 controller (has GR gotten these?) I'd be up for that. Otherwise I'll just have to save the credit for my next trip to a GR location. I have no idea when that might be though. Hopefully I'll be going to Atlanta some time in the next 6 months. I hope GR lasts till then ;).

They said they don't carry new games any more at Blockbuster because the risk was too high (theft, mainly). It's not just my local store (which is really not a high-theft area) - she made it sound like a corporate decision (or at least district-wide). So if I don't spend it at a GR all I can spend this credit on is overpriced DVD releases (since I have all the free rentals I want from Coke Rewards).

Love the new thread title Shipwreck!

Gamerush Lite indeed. It's so sad, too, considering this thread has 70,000 views.

Changing topics here: I just noticed something interesting on the Gamerush web site (I decided to check it out to see if there's any indication of what's going on). Of course, there are no promos being advertized except for the general "trade stuff for credit" thing. But the text in that is interesting: "Trade in your old games and accumulate trade credits for any games, accessories, or controllers in the store" followed by more blather about renting games, buying used games, and buying accessories (again). Note that there is no mention of using the credit on consoles or handheld systems. It isn't specifically excluded but I wonder if that isn't the intention. That could explain the trouble some CAG's have had in using trade credit for systems recently. Anyway, it's no big deal to me, just something I noticed. I'll be happy if I get a chance to use my credit for a 360 controller and a game or two and not have to use it on $23 newly-released DVD's (which would be a last resort kind of thing ;)). For all the credit I amassed at GR (and subsequently spent) I only ever ended up with ONE system from it - my Black DS Lite last Fall. Though I guess I could say GR credit paid for my EB Wii purchase and most of my Gamecrazy 360 purchase when I used last summer's 75% off clearance to transfer credit to those two stores.

I have yet to see the BLACK 360 accessories at GameRush. I have a good $120 in credit I believe....I will get a few games and be done with them I suppose.

I still have games I want to trade in, but we'll see.

I just called Gamerush to get the remaining balance on a preorder to see if the price changed to MSRP. I preordered Tomb Raider to get rid of some credit, but they are selling it for $50. They are crazy if they think people will pay $20 over MSRP. Damn, looks like im ordering from best buy!!!

Thanks for the info, IO. I'm just going to wait and hope that a GC at a decent point amount comes back and now apparently I'll have to hope that my credit can be applied to a console. I know you're upset about procrastinating on building your cred for the controller, but I'm really miffed at myself for procrastinating on rebuilding my cred and cashing in on the BB giftcard at cokerewards. I didn't realize that the GCs would disappear so fast. That's a $130 handheld I would have gotten for almost nothing out of pocket!

Just in case I do get a chance to carry out that plan, unlike last time I should ask this ahead of time:

If I have credit at one GR and find the DS Lite I want (ie, not pink) at another one (most likely within a 30 minute drive, same state if area matters) will that credit show up in their system and if not can I cash out my credit on a gift card? Thanks.

Ha, I didn't have to build my credit, I had it all along. I just procrastinated in getting myself into my local BB (which is only 1/2 mile from my house) and buying it (though, note, I did get the other one they had about a month ago).

As for the Coke Rewards BB gift cards - yes, things like that go VERY fast, especially when they are good deals relative to other rewards (like the Wii and DS as I mentioned, and also the Sony Style gift card which costs 1000 points just to get a $50 one).

And, get the credit from your GR account ON A VALUE CARD NOW! It will not show up at any other stores, so if you have any intention of using it at another store get it put on a value card (or gift card). That, in itself, can be a hassle so I'd try to do it ASAP. And any future trades you do, get them put right on the card. I tended to keep credit at my GR because it was the only one within 600 miles so I was going to spend my credit there (it is now closed though). Yesterday when I traded at my local (non-GR) store I kept the credit on my account because I thought they were bringing me up the 360 controller from the back. What they brought up was some crappy 3rd party wired one, and by that time it was too late. But I should be able to get it transferred to a gift card if I ever end up travelling to a GR-infested area. Otherwise, though, the rest of my credit is on value or gift cards (including the $75 I did manage to get from Coke Rewards).

I like the option of being able to go to any GR/BBV store. And, when I trade-in at different stores, I have them put the credit on the same value card. It's just easier for me to keep track of my balance.

Yeah, that should be standard operating procedure for CAGs not only at GR but at any chain. The only exceptions I make are when I spend most of my money (on preorders/new releases for example) at one particular store - then I keep some on the account there. Like I said before, with only one GR store available to me I tended to keep about half my credit on the account as it just made things easier. I do the same for my closest Gamecrazy store even though I do have several more of those to choose from - for preordering and buying new releases it is just easier to keep it there (plus GC has that lame even dollar amount only gift card thing and they always seem to have trouble with gift cards).
