Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
galvatron2k1 - I've heard of this drawer thing occasionally. My (now closed) GR was good about this at least - all new games were out on the floor, nothing hidden. I'll have to remember that, though, if I ever travel to an area with a GR store again and I'm looking for something specific.
The only reason I knew about the drawers is they kept everything new over $20 in the drawers and put the display boxes out on the shelf. So yes, be forewarned. Actually, I know one of the guys at my local Gamerush and he is pretty cool, so if he has something stashed for himself (and he does some serious stashing), I let them go. However, when I went in there today, there were like 20 "random and very good" games used and from this clearance sale. Some I really wanted. So I asked the guy that was helping me (that knows about the employee that stashes stuff) if these were being held since it was like 1 copy of each. He said, no, it is free game. I said, are you sure because there are only single copies of things in this drawer. And he once again said, nope, free game. So I had my fill.:applause:

Picked up:

:ps2: Disgaea 2 - $25
:psp: Mega Man X - $10
:xbox: Driver Parallel Lines (LE) - $10
:360: Godfather - $20 for a fellow CAG

I did leave some gems like a used RE: Code Veronica X for the Cube because I had a feeling that they were being held. If it's there when I go back in a few days though...
Just Cause is supposed to be $25 after 50% and that is how it will ring up. However, the one in Troy, MI was dumb enough to put a $19.99 tag and a orange half-off tag on their only copy of the game, so they had to sell it for $10. The employee there closely inspected the tag because they thought it had been switched. Of course, it had not, just a mismark by some dumb employee as usual. They also insisted that Final Fantasy V was not half off because it did not have an orange tag, but the computer said differently. So, I guess at least two blockbusters in Michigan have marked this game at $19.99.
If anyone in Metro Detroit wants to go to a good blockbuster/gamerush that knows what they are doing, then I cannot recommend the one in Shelby Township on 24 and Hayes enough. I have never had problems there.
The GR on Hoover Rd, south of I-696 has been real good also. I went there the first day and the manager let me walk around with her list to see what I wanted because they hadn't marked down anything at that time. I went there yesterday and everything on sale was marked and on the sale tables.

I was out today and splurged. I picked up..

X360 Tomb Raider 15
X360 Godfather 20
X360 Xmen 15
X360 World Poker 15
X360 Enchanted Arms 20
Cube Super smash bros 15
Cube Viewtiful Joe 5

Cube Batallion Wars 5
Cube Starfox Adven 10
Xbox Ninja Gaiden Black 15
Xbox Serious Sam 2 15
Gba Final Fantasy V 15
Gba Final Fantasy Tactics 10

Nice work on the list, Neo. =)

GBA to add:
Wario Ware Twisted. Rings up 9.65, drops to 4.82 (the clerk and I were both rather amused by the wierd pricing).
LoZ Minish Cap, 15.00.
Mario Tennis Power Tour 15.00

Also saw Ninja Gaiden Black at 15.00 (just to help with those wondering the actual price on this).

While they hadnt been updated at all including graphically they are just a shade nicer looking on the cube.

My local GR was expecting corporate to come by today re: GR not the BB half. The clerk was not sure if the will be expanding or downsizing GR, but the visit is in relation to this he believes. It will be interesting to find out when I get back from my trip.

No doubt I will pick this up if I get another chance. The two reasons I didn't were that I already have it for the Gamecube and I was running low on cash. I am aware that it is fairly rare and was almost certain that this was being held even if the guy helping me said it wasn't.

That list rocks. Thanks, man.

I got a new one:

My GR has actually tagged most of the clearance stuff.

GBA Mario vs Donkey Kong 8
GBA Mario Pinball 8

They were both clearance tagged at 8 although the full price tag was 15. I stupidly passed on MvDK as I couldn't remember if it was well received. Of course it's Mario so it's great. I'll actually buy it tomorrow and update the price if it does come out differently.

CAGs in the area, I stopped by the Centerville GR which had a ton of PS2 games on clearance. Was in too much of a hurry to really check out specifics as I was just there for some Xbox games.

I really wish we knew if/when this might go to 75%. There's so much more I'd buy at 75%. I still grabbed the hot games which I know would likely disappear before they dropped again: VP2, Me & My Katamari, Loco Roco, Suikoden V, Final Fantasy V.

I couldn't find Disgaea 2 though. I'd trade my Suikoden V for it if anyone else can. (PM me)

Has anyone seen Final Fantasy VI at a Gamerush ever?
Has anyone seen Final Fantasy VI at a Gamerush ever?
Nope. I'm fairly certain FFV was one of the last GBA games they got in.

Thanks to everyone for the updates.

I was able to get the following:

XBox 360 Saints Row - $25
XBox 360 The Godfather - $20
XBox Justice League - $10
if you can pick up ninja gaiden black for me, i'd pay u back. :D
There are a few games I know some of y'all are looking for that I'd pick up without blinking any other time. But I'm leaving town and didn't want to say "i've got your game but you have to wait two weeks for me to get around to shipping it out to you."

Guin,
If you haven't left yet, where is the store with NGB? I'm looking for me, but I may have one at a KMart clearance so in that case I could pick it up for someone else here. Also, where was that Live kit you saw at a target? I'm hoping they're in a part of town I may be at this weekend. Thanks.

Back to the specific games at BBs, the Mario Pinball and Mario Vs DKs were all gone at a store where noone buys games. There were several so I'm thinking hoarder. Oh well. I noticed GBA games marked 15 were marked down to 8 and home console games marked 15 were marked down to 7. Anyone confused yet?

Also, XBLA rings up at 19.99, but will be discounted down to 10.00.
Also Xbox Cod2 regular and Collectors edition are both down to 7.50.
Xbox Toca 3 is down to 9.99
Is We Love Katamari a pretty rare game? I may have to pickup the one copy my store has.
It's pretty rare. It goes for upwards of 40-60 on eBay and Amazon. I'd say get it if you're interested. I picked up my store's only copy this past week for $20. It's a great game.

I'd rather not comb the past 51 pages, so I'll ask my question here. Apologies if it's already been answered.

Is it up to the store if they're taking 50% off the clearance sticker? I hit a GR a couple weeks ago and the games I got were extremely cheap, like Psi Ops for $2.50, amongst other things.

I hit a different GR today, and they were very adamant about telling me the clearance price is what they are supposed to sell for.

Kinda aggravated me, since this other store had some decent stuff, like Sly 3 and God Hand.

Is anybody here familiar with Blockbuster's return policy? I purchased a game yesterday that I might want to return. Will they give me cash back if I have the receipt and the game is still sealed or will they only give me store credit?

And if it's store credit only, is that credit good at any corporate owned BB, or only at that one particular store?

Thank you!

Still sealed and receipt will get you cash back or return onto credit card, etc. I called first since the receipt doesn't have a time limit (30 day, etc) and they said that they didn't think the amount of time mattered as long as you have the receipt. I don't know how knowledgeable said person is .

Picked up the last Prey: CE at the GR on Valley View and Lampson in Garden Grove, CA. Saw they had two Just Cause's left, a Lord of the rings left, and a Blitz. Also, they had quite a selection on xbox and PS2 games.

Interesting this is here now as I just got back with my own little experience.

So I bought 2 games from GR before they closed - LOTR:BfME and Mega Man ZX, both for $30 each. My GR store then shut down, and now these games are both $15. I took them into my local Blockbuster to see if they would price adjust or return/repurchase - whatever. Both are unopened and I have the receipts, of course. While I didn't expect it to work, and there were reasonable ways for them to refuse to do this, what I got fed was a pile of BS.

Here were their reasons:
1) Gamerush is a separate entity with no connection to their regular Blockbuster store (utter and complete BS)
2) These are new games and we don't sell AND HAVE NEVER SOLD new games, so they won't even ring up in the system (again, utter BS as I have bought new games as recently as 6 months ago from this very same store)

It just pissed me off because they came up with this crap, instead of just saying we can't take returns from another store or something, which would have been more acceptible. I wasn't even trying to return it (I would understand them not wanting to be stuck with new game stock that they don't normally sell). In any case, the former GR guy wasn't there when I went in so I knew I should have not tried with the nobs that were there are the time. I may try again when he's in if the rest of the same people aren't around. I was at least trying to get them to scan the damn things and they wouldn't even do that - it would have proved that they were in the system, anyway.

But, actually, now that I think about it, it seems like if nothing else I actually SHOULD be able to return these games if I want to at any store. They don't have a 30 day limit (I bought these about 45 days ago) and it is just "Blockbuster" on the receipt, not "Gamerush specialty store" or anything. Thing is, of course, I'd like to repurchase them instead of asking another CAG to pick them up for me and ship. Maybe I'll try a different Blockbuster.

IO, I once bought a Playstation 2 Action Replay in Virginia ($6 on clearance last year) and since I lived in Georgia I asked if I could return it there and they said yes. This was a manager. This store was not a GR location. Unless it's a matter of corporate to franchise buy and return crossover, I see no possible grounds of "you can't return it to a different store."

It is definitely not a franchise store issue... Thanks, I'm going to try a different store later and I'm not going to mention the "Gamerush" thing as that just confuses them,. I'll just say I bought it at a different Blockbuster that is now closed, as that is exactly what I did.

I should add that the woman went on about how returning it to their store would be considered fraud and whatnot....
The more I think about it the more I realized she's just a dumbass and I may have better luck when the GR guy is back. Problem is, I think this woman was on the phone with the manager when I was in there and they think the manager is saying not to do it (I don't think she was letting the manager know all the details correctly though).

Went back to my GR again today. They still hadn't marked anything down... picked up:

Xbox Gun $5
Xbox Sonic Heroes $5
Xbox THUG $5
Xbox Blinx $3.50

Just a quick tip for anyone in Fort Worth, I was in the Blockbuster on Sycamore and McCart last night, and they either have not started to pull all of the clearance games or did a crap job pulling the list, because only about three or four games were clearanced. Luigi's Mansion, God Hand, Okami, and pretty much all of the other games were still on the shelf. I picked up the last Okami, but all the others are up for grabs. Good luck. :)

Can anyone confirm that the prices ring up $xx.98 and then 50% off after total at a REGULAR (non-GR) Blockbuster, so that when I hit up another store I can be righteous in my certainty that the games and sale prices are in their system?

I know a few people here said their regular BB's had a few of these games.

Here's another one for the clearance list:

icongbasp_r1.gif
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance $10

I also saw FF: Dawn of Souls, but I didn't know FFTA was on clearance or I would have tried getting it too.
GCN - Mario Power Tennis - $15

I'm fairly certain I might have hit the only gamerush that still had one of these

Dave
One of mine had two copies until just before this sale started, when they suddenly disappeared.

I got DOA 3 and Zelda Windwaker at a regular BB in the first clearance and Champions Return to Arms and Mechassault at the same BB in the second wave. Both times it was the same as at the GRs in that the price was xx.98 and 50% off coupon was entered after the order was totalled. Sidenote, I haven't seen any standard BBS selling 360 games around here, maybe due to the amount of GRs in the area.

Kameo did not ring up $15 for me. The few other games I purchased did have 50% taken off. Maybe it's not actually a clearance title.

Wow, what a difference helpful, friendly employees can make ;).

I went to another regular Blockbuster tonight and the woman there at first though it wouldn't work. But from the start I could tell it would go better because she didn't start off all confrontational about it. She said she thought they had a different system than GR so she wasn't sure if they were "participating" in the sale (so for a minute there I thought maybe the other BB was right and they had separated the systems and I was out of luck). On the other hand, she said she did get a memo about the sale but just ignored it as she had no new games to sell. Anyway, instead of spouting off about fraud and other BS she called another store where one of the assistant managers from GR is now working (who I know well). He talked her through how it worked (50% off after total, etc) and she was able to return, resell, and credit me the $30 difference. I was pleasantly surprised (for a change).

It's wierd though - if it wasn't for the wacky way they run these sales it might not have been possible. She was able to return them at $29.98 just by scanning, and then resell them at $14.99 just by scanning again. No extra fussing with credit was necessary. I think if it had just rung up at $15 she would have had more issues with it (as she'd have to credit me the difference and all). So, kudos to BB/GR for their wacky "50% off after hitting total" sales ;). Now my credit is pumped up enough to get all I want from other CAG's and maybe have a bit left over to pay for a 360 wireless controller (which my local store sells new, go figure ).

Oh, and I also traded in a GC Rave Master for $9.50.
did anyone mention this sale ends the 22nd?

cause it does.
Do you think there will be a reduction to 75% before then? Even at 50% off, a lot of stuff still hasn't sold round here. If the sale ends, what are they going to do with the unsold games I wonder.

Yeah, that seems odd because I don't think the clearance from last summer (which operated in the same way) ever ended. My store still had a few sports games left from that one when they closed ;).

Burnout Revenge (360) is NOT 50% off, but still a decent deal at $20. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja (PS2) is marked down to $19.99 (NOT 50% off).

There should be a trade thread for this sale since there are a lot of A-list titles on sale. I was able to get a few good deals:

Dead or Alive 4 (360) $20
GTA Double Pack (Xbox) $10
Final Fantasy V (GBA) $15
MegaMan ZX (DS) $15
Valkyrie Profile 2 (PS2) $25

Sorry if it's the wrong place for a trade request, but I still need Okami, Disgaea 2, Godhand, Star Trek Legacy, Metal Gear PO, and Super Monkey Ball Adventure (GC) if anybody has extras.

The stores got a memo to destroy those games on a certain date and many of them did. If they missed a game or two, I believe they are still in the system though. I'd assume that any unsold games would be destroyed or sent back to corporate after this sale as well, although it seems weird that they wouldn't drop the price further first like they did last time. A lot of this crap won't sell at 50%.

Ok...I called my Blockbuster and they are indeed corporate.

Will these games be marked in general as lower priced, or will I have to get them to scan them in order for discount to show up?

Since it's corporate, even if they aren't marked down, can I bring them up to counter anyway and when they scan, will they automatically go down in the system??

Sorry for the lack of knowledge.

Yeah, I remember that stuff about "field destroying". My store didn't bother with the 2 or 3 titles they had left.

But if this sale ends the 22nd of April and they don't go to 75% off any time soon I imagine they will have lots more games to destroy this time around. And unlike with guides, that is a pretty stupid thing to do (I don't think they can get any credit from the distributor/publisher for destroyed games). But this is Blockbuster we're talking about .

The manager at the *good* Blockbuster last night told me an interesting thing about the GR that closed. She said the game sales were the ONLY thing keeping that store afloat for so long. I had heard that before from various people who worked there. The movie rental side was losing tons of money, but the games made up for it somewhat (though clearly not enough). It seemed if they ran GR a bit better it (instead of cutting it back as they appear to be doing) it might help their bottom line. But whatever...

So Arcade Unplugged is actually ringing up with the $10 coupon now? During my GR's last week they were able to verify it dropped to $19.99 but said it didn't get a $10 off when totalled - I thnk there was a small period there where it went off clearance with the price change and now it must be back on. If I ever find myself near that cool BB I'll fix that one too ;).

jhaymond1 - as I described last night, it is indeed the case that the games will ring up 50% off automatically even at a non-GR store (as long as it is a corporate one). Just rememeber that they need to hit "total" first. The games will still scan at full price, except they will be 1 cent off (like $29.98 instead of $29.99). That's how you can tell it is truly a clearance game. Also, keep in mind this is new only and not used. Seems obvious to me, but others have been confused by that ;).

Okay here's a noodle buster for you.

One of my GR had Prey: CE for $20 and if it's supposedly a part of this clearance then wouldn't it be $10? But it's listed on here for $15 after the 50%.

I mean I don't want to get it if it rings up for $20 and doesn't give me 50% off.
One more for the list: You guys can thank me later.

PS2

Singstar Rocks w/2 mic - $25

Good luck finding one though.
Is it any good? My GR has 1 and I thought about picking it up.

It took a long-ass hunt, but I found God Hand, VP: Silmeria and Okami at the Game Rush in Downey, CA.

The guy at the register wasn't really aware of half the games on sale, and all three above weren't on display, so that was a lucky one.
