Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

Thanks for the prices...anyone trade in THP8 for the 360 lately? Still have one left. My Blockbuster is starting to suck...they are NOT getting any Blu-Ray in store either (not one of the 1500 stores apparently). I can check others, but they are not as close.

Oh well.....no Elite it appeared or black accessories either.

Wiki updated...

I bought 2 PSP games for $14.99 (using B1G1 deal) and traded them to GC for $21 after the 50% deal. Even without the extra 50% deal this would be worth it as I can, actually, you know, buy stuff from Gamecrazy that I want. The only problem is the sparse selection of PSP games at normal Blockbuster stores. I can pick up one more set at my local store and then I'd need to try another one.

Picked up a few

Radiata Stories-$14.99
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes-$14.99
Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus-$6.99
Second Sight-$6.99
River City Ransom Ex-$6.99
Apex-$6.99
Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick-$4.99
Breakdown-$4.99
Alien Hominid-$6.99
Onimusha 2-$6.99

Not bad at all, plus i get my employee discount. Some GRs still have a unique stock of games, and you find gems.

My GameRush had a SMALL selection of $14.99 games in one section, but I noticed others were scattered about with the same price not in the Buy1-Get1 Free section. Is My Katamari any good for PSP? My store had that.

I have to stop today before my trip, so a new game would be nice on the plane/layover.

Blockbuster Closing 282 US Stores
Thursday June 28, 7:21 pm ET
By Matt Curry, Associated Press Writer
Blockbuster Plans to Shutter 282 Domestic Stores This Year

DALLAS (AP) -- Blockbuster Inc. plans to close 282 stores in the U.S. this year to improve operating margins and expand domestic share, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday.

Blockbuster's effort to accelerate closures of underperforming and marginal U.S. stores comes as the company is spending heavily to beef up its online-rental business to compete with rival online DVD rental service Netflix Inc.

The company did not identify which stores would be closing.

"Traffic is just not what it used to be when Blockbuster was the big rooster in the hen house," said Andy Cross, senior analyst with The Motley Fool.

In 2006, Blockbuster closed 290 U.S. stores and transferred a quarter of the revenue from closed stores to surrounding stores, the company said. It expects similar benefits to surrounding stores from the anticipated closures this year.

The company is aggressively seeking a new approach after years of ignoring Netflix, Cross said.

Netflix Inc. has 6.8 million subscribers who pay $4.99 to $47.99 per month to rent DVDs that they select online and are delivered through the mail. Blockbuster ended March with more than 3 million online customers.

"They are finally starting to wake up," Cross said.

In November, Blockbuster introduced a plan called "Total Access" that gives its online subscribers the option of returning DVDs to a store instead of through the mail to obtain another movie more quickly.

"That's putting a greater emphasis on our stores. If you look at Blockbuster Total Access, and the way that program works, our stores are becoming more important because of our online business," Blockbuster spokesman Randy Hargrove said.

The added flexibility has forced Blockbuster -- which has more than 5,000 U.S. stores -- to invest more heavily in its DVD library, contributing to a $49 million loss in the first quarter.

Blockbuster's goal is to grow its share of both the store-based and online rental business, Hargrove said.

"Thanks to Blockbuster Total Access, our stores are seeing more traffic and transactions," he said. "Despite the in-store industry's first-quarter decline, customer visits and new membership signups were both at the highest levels we've experienced in two years."

In a separate SEC filing Wednesday, Blockbuster said it intends to modify its online service "to strike the appropriate balance between continued subscriber growth and enhanced profitability." The company already has lowered its prices by a $1 per month for customers who agree to rent movies exclusively through the Internet.

"They don't make any money on the online business, which is a smaller part of their current business, and they're not going to make any money on that, definitely not this year," Cross said. "I personally think they will continue to struggle."

This week, Netflix settled a patent infringement lawsuit against Blockbuster, ending an attempt to thwart the rapid growth of its biggest rival.

U.S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco dismissed the 14-month-old case Tuesday at the request of both companies, averting a jury trial scheduled to begin in September.

Shares of Blockbuster fell 4 cents to $4.16 Thursday, then lost another 10 cents in after-hours trading.

I hope none of the CAGs that work at BBV are affected.

I can only see Blockbuster to continue to close more stores. The B&M for this market is slowly going away, and I honestly don't think many of the sales are in DVD's / Games. It really is too bad. I hopemy store stays around, but I was already told they are NOT getting any Blu-Ray discs (the 1500 stores that are getting them).

I do have two other semi-close GameRush's though. One close to work, and the other just between work and home....a bit out of the way.

I have a non-GR BBV less than 2 miles from my house, I really hope it's not one of those that closes. Really convenient to return an online rental there. The 2 closest GR stores are farther away from me, but they have more traffic and there's less chance of them closing.

I don't really have any worries about my local BB closing (apparently its one of the higher volume stores in Cleveland), but I guess I'll need to figure out how much credit I have left on my card and pick up a couple $14.99 games at my nearest GR. Wouldn't surprise me if they vanished.

Yeah, I hope my local store doesn't close as it is 1/4 mile from my house. The GR (that closed for reasons unrelated to any corporate-wide strategy) was the next closest. After that it is 10+ miles to any other store. They need to be careful with this close nearby stores and hope to drive up traffic to other Blockbusters strategy. Around here, Hollywood Video is around to fill the void. When my GR closed, I'm sure everyone went to Hollywood as there wasn't another Blockbuster in the same town. If my local BB closes, same thing... There's no WAY I'd go to BB to rent movies any more except for the free Coke Rewards rentals.

Even though 282 stores may sound like a lot, that is just between 5 and 6% of their total stores, so chances are any particular store (especially when they are isolated like mine) is not closing. However, in last year's round of closings, 2 stores that I visited often closed down. In one case, there was another one not 2 miles away so that made sense. (These were peripheral stores that I would dump the occasional game at just so I didn't trade too much at GR itself, no big loss to me when they went away).

I'm going to go snag the last 2 decent $14.99 and under PSP titles and flip those to GC tomorrow. If that's all I manage to do I'll have turned $30 of BB credit into $42 of GC credit. Not bad, but I wish I had more to choose from (GR would have been nice ).

But considering I got $50 of BB credit from $20 at Gamecrazy (using Blitz when it was momentarily cheap) that's some cheap credit right there...

Let's see... $20 at GC -> $50 at BB, means I spent $12 of GC credit to get the $30 of BB credit that I then used to get $42 at GC... Not bad...

I just recently opened a GR account and WTF is with the security measures these guys take? They had to fingerprint me? LOL. What's that all about?

I think that's a regional/state law thing, isn't it?

Anyway I saw The Darkness (360) and Transformers (360/Wii) at GR today if anyone's interested.

That's a state-by-state thing - has to do with Pawn laws... Are you in Florida by any chance? I've opened trade accounts in AZ, OR, MD, and VA and never had to do that ;).

Yes, FL. Orlando to be exact. Pawn laws? I never had to be fingerprinted at EB/GS lol.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about that. But I know in FL at GR they fingerprint. Someone explained it once (why they do it and EB/GS doesn't). If Roufuss checks this thread maybe he can let us know.

Ah ok. Well this sucks, now if I ever plan to do an armed robbery, my finger prints will be in a system. AHH :(

JK, of course.

I had 3 stores near me until about 2 years ago. Two were GR and one was a regular BB store. They closed the nicer and newer of the two GR stores. The remaining one is kind of a sh*t hole.
Yes, FL. Orlando to be exact. Pawn laws? I never had to be fingerprinted at EB/GS lol.
Don't worry. They used to do it on every single trade, and had to hand-write out a pawn form for your trades.

Now they just scan and you sign a receipt like everywhere else. The fingerprinting part is just when you sign a new trade agreement.

This may be old news, but here goes:

Dropped by my local Blockbuster to return/pickup a movie. What do I see but a "trade in your games to save money on the newest games!" sign, accompanied by display cases for high profile titles like The Darkness, Transformers, and Harry Potter.

I ask the manager about it, and apparently this store and one other store in Cleveland are taking part in a test of adding new games to regular BBs. GameRushes themselves are going to be scaled back to a similar structure since they're not doing so hot (no wai??). Amusingly, considering the thread title, he referred to it as "GameRush Lite."

For better or worse, I guess this means I need to start paying attention to this thread and flipping again. I won't expect much, but I'd be surprised if they didn't get the big guns like Mario Galaxy and the like this fall.

Dang. Went in my local GR for the first time in a while. I can tell you honestly that there's no point to their being a GameRush sign outside the building. Absolutely NUFIN' in that joint.

The two others around here weren't as bad, but I've now witnessed the horror of this scale down first-hand. It's okay, I'll survive. But it was rough out there, Captain.

Just a heads-up, I received an emailed $5 off $20 coupon a few days ago, as part of the Blockbuster Total Access program. Used it in conjunction with the B1G1 on used games, which makes this an even better deal. Unfortunately, the coupon prints your email address on the front, so it can't be shared...but a good option for those that still frequent BB.

EDIT: It's actually a free $5 gift card if you spend $20 - my mistake.

I'm going to go snag the last 2 decent $14.99 and under PSP titles and flip those to GC tomorrow. If that's all I manage to do I'll have turned $30 of BB credit into $42 of GC credit. Not bad, but I wish I had more to choose from (GR would have been nice ).
IO, would you mind sharing the PSP titles you bought for GC trade in? I will have do the same. Just want to find the right ones. I only know dynasty warriors PSP $14.99 @ BB, trade in after 50% more @ GC for $15.

thanks

But considering I got $50 of BB credit from $20 at Gamecrazy (using Blitz when it was momentarily cheap) that's some cheap credit right there...

Let's see... $20 at GC -> $50 at BB, means I spent $12 of GC credit to get the $30 of BB credit that I then used to get $42 at GC... Big props though as that is more work than I'm willing to do, even if those stores are close together.

I would've left all my GR credit intact as the ones here still have new games, next-gen accessories and systems - one even had Wiis. But, after seeing GC's stock (with consistently newer games), I changed my mind. Those 360 games really helped me with completing my credit transfer and then some. I do love GR and some of their trade-in values though. $5 PSP games for $15 without any promo, ftw.

I saw this as well at my local BB that carries Blu-Ray and HD DVD titles for sale/rent. They had The Darkness brand new right next to the new BR/HD titles (which are behind the employees, so you can never see what movies they have for sale).

Let's see, all of these were $14.99 at Blockbuster. The value given is the GC trade value WITH the 50% bump that ends today. In almost all cases, it still would have been worth it with just the regular MPV pricing if you are simply looking to transfer credit from GR to GC. The 50% just gave me a bit of extra credit ;).

Yu-Gi-Oh GX: $10.50 (eg, these are $7.70 with regular MVP trade-in pricing)
Spiderman 2: $10.50
X-Men Legends: $10.50
Rengoku: $9.75
Untold Legends Warriors Code: $10.50

That's it. I did 2 copies of Yu-Gi-Oh. That was pretty much all my local Blockbuster had that wasn't a sports title (and under $15). I'm sure they appreciated it as many of these had been sitting there for ages and about half were disc-only so they were hard-pressed to sell them even with the B1G1 free deal. They have no DS games at my Blockbuster or I would have done some of those as well.

Well, I could have taken it further. Some of the GC credit I spent on Blitz at GC came from clearance games from GR originally ;). And some of that came from stuff like GunGriffon Allied Strike which was cheap at GC.

By the way, thanks to the 50% deal at GC I now have an insane amount of GC credit - more than I ever had at one time for GR, actually. I now only slightly miss my GR. It sure was nice to stroll into GC and be able to purchase GrimGrimoire the other day. And before that, Etrian Odyssey and Puzzle Quest. And Odin Sphere...

I will say, my game spending has dropped significantly since I've run out of my at one time seemingly limitless EBand GR credit.

Well, my EB credit is dangerously low (didn't help that I bought about 4 Arcade Unplugged for the GC deal there ;)). I have less than $100 at EB now (but 4 Wii preorders paid for), about $100 at GR, and well, a bit more at GC...

I should clarify that though - I have more GC credit than I ever had on the account/value cards at GR. But I probably had more credit tied up in preorders there when they had the great preorder deal (so my total was probably more at GR overall). I mean, at one point I had 12-15 fully paid for preorders at GR (paid $30, value of $40-$50 for the most part). I have almost nothing tied up in preorders at Gamecrazy (just a few $5 deposits).

And same here with the GC promo, my GC credit >>> my GR credit. If it weren't for the GC promo, I would've never set foot in their stores - I was content with GR at the time. The one thing I'll miss about GR is the number of locations they have compared to GC.
The one thing I'll miss about GR is the number of locations they have compared to GC.
Ah, well, see it is the complete opposite for me. I stuck with GR before for 2 reasons: 1) VERY high trade-in values 2) The Trade 2/$30 preorder deal where your 2 trades also got you credit. Recently the trade-ins have come down to GC-like levels and the deals are gone. And then they shut the only store in a 500 mile radius down ;). For GC, I can find one in every part of town, which has made amassing credit with this 50% deal very easy - much easier than it ever was at GR. While I could go to regular Blockbusters for some of that, I only ever had 1 GR to do the preorder deal at. Luckily they considered me a good customer as I tried not to push it too much ;). But, really, I have at least 6 GC stores that I can visit easily, and another 4-6 in outlying areas that I could visit occasionally if I wanted to.
Has anybody ever had success returning used games to a different store than the one they bought them at?
You can probably swing it, but no Blockbuster likes to take any returns from another store, no matter what the item.

The one thing I miss about Gamerush is the fact that they don't HAVE anything anymore. No good used titles for under $30 and no new product. There's practically nothing to spend all my credit on.

For those still interested TMNT (Wii) get $30 in trade-in at GR and can be had for 14.99 used at GC(cheaper if MVP). Did not check on the X360 price.

... The prices at GC for the 360 version are the same ($14.99 used, $20 new). I just bought one yesterday. Geez, I *could* do this, but what's the point? Though keep in mind those used $13.49 (after MVP) Wii TMNT could be used for the EB/GS trade 2 get a new Wii game deal ;).

Unfortunately, my GC won't let me do the B2G1 free deal otherwise I would have picked up more than TMNT (Wii). I'll see if another one around me slides. Can anyone confirm the Trade-In value for TMNT (360, Wii)? This could be a pretty good credit builder if your GR actually keeps things up to date.

thankIO! Hopefully GC 50% more trade-in deal will be valid untill 7/13.

All of my local GR's have now condensed down the GR store to about half the size and movie rentals are slowly starting to occupy the game rental wall. Most no longer carry as much used games either. Took 5 stores to find 1 copy of Lumines.

Same here. Starting to get worried since I have $100+ in credit still...

Has anyone traded in a 360 console? Just curious what it gets as I want to update to an ELITE since my 360 died again and will be in the shop for repairs.

Rayman Raving Rabbids for 360 also trades for $28.50 so especially if you can find it used at GameCrazy for $14.99 ($13.50 with MVP), it's a good turn around. Not too bad buying new $20 ---> $28.50.

Enchanted Arms (PS3) 19.99 new/14.99 used(13.49 w/mvp at gamecrazy) trades for $36 at GR if you are looking to transfer some credit.

Thanks....that is tempting, maybe time to check out my GameCrazy.....I may even pick up a copy to keep.
