OTHER INFO

I consider deals confirmed when I receive the MAP on every other Thursday. The Map outlines promos and how the store is to be layed out and includes the barcodes for the deals. Also we get the new trade flyers that day as well with new trade values and deals.

Deals usually end on close of business on Monday and begin on open Tuesday (some special ones do start on Thursday usually around labor day, memorial day, etc.)

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

Does Forza still get $35? How about GT4?
GT 4 gets $30 when I was in there yesterday. Forza gets $34 I believe.

Has anyone else had success getting other GCN games to work for the 50% off? Corey- does the barcode work effortlessly with non listed GC games?
it has been asked multiple times and there still hasn't been an answer -

has anyone been able to do the trade 2 get a preorder/new release for 29.99 at BB, not gamerush? if so, did the cashier know about it, or was it one of those things you had to explain? thank you
the answer is probably not available b/c the deal isn't going on at any bb's. if there was such a deal, i'm sure somebody would've said something by now. if you want to know if your bb does it, just call them and ask. it'll literally take you 2 minutes rather than waiting to see if somebody answers your question with a "ymmv" answer. btw, i'm not trying to be a smartass. i'm just saying this b/c many people have been asking this question but nobody has responded. however, anytime somebody asks another question, you'll usually get a response within a day or two.

have any of you noticed something on the game discs on the games you buy from BB/GR?

i just got GT 4 from my BB & they have this little black rubbery strip glued to the disc (on the disc art side)...what is it? a tracking device?

thanks for any info on this

Does anyone know how much Advent Rising gets in trade???

Also, shame on all you people trading in Breakdown!!! What other game lets you eat virtual hamburgers and then puke them up?!

There's a post in the "Deal Discussion" forum by someone claiming their PS2 Madden '04 only got 25 cents for trade-in. Now I'm thinking maybe they got GR and GS mixed up - because that definitely sounds more like a GS price, but they also claimed they got in on the trade 3 for $5 deal, so maybe not.

If so, that is a pretty dramatic drop - I know I got $1.50 for it a week or two ago. I certainly wasn't planning to trade any more in myself, but this might be a warning to others to stay away from Madden '04! Can we get a confirmation of this, though? Maybe other $1.50 games have dropped as well. And maybe this is just the tip of the iceberg for a bunch of drops at all price ranges that happened Tuesday but haven't been reported yet (though it seems the Best Buy $5/$10 games are holding from previous weeks).

I asked how much Advent gets when I picked it up yesterday in case I didn't like it, and I was told $25. Seems kinda low for a new release. I would wait till Tues. to see if the price goes up, which happens quite often with new release games (the week they come out sometimes gives less credit than if you wait a week or two)

It's a security strip - unless deactivated it will trip the alarm when you leave the store. Did you ever notice how they rub games (and movies) on that little device before they let you leave the store with it? It magnetically deactivates the strip so the alarm doesn't go off as you leave. Look closely at the next movie rental you get... I'll bet there is one tucked on the inner spine of the case. Of course, I could be wrong on this, but that is my understanding.

Picked up a copy one of each of GBA NES Classic Metroid and Zelda II ($7.49 each after 50% off) and 2 copies of GC Mario Tennis and 1 copy of GC Metroid Prime 2 ($24.99 each after 50%). Those combined with the 2 copies of GC Paper Mario I picked up at EB (with vouchers!) will make this one hellofa Nintendo summer!

Does anyone know the trade in on NCAA Basketball 2005, it's only 5$ at BestBuy. I picked up 4 yesterday For trade elsewhere... You know why :(

This is very odd. I went into gamerush with 6 games to trade for their trade in 3 games and get 1 pre-owned game for $5. So I brought up God Of War and Tekken5 and the lady at the front counter said that I can only get 1 pre-owned game per day. Anyone else getting this from their GR?

I have never been limited to one per day on the new deal. No where in the terms of the deal does it say limited to one per day either. I have been to 4 different GameRushes and they are all letting everyone do more than one per day.

And yes the Wal Mart three pack technically works. You might get some strange looks from someone at GameRush if they actually know games and have seen the pack before. You might want to mix them in with some other games you are trading and not do just the 3pk at once.

Anyone have confirmation if about the x360 preorders at GR ? Are they already taking them or does anyone know when they will start. I know some have the written waiting list going on but I am looking for the deposit down confirmation pre-order. Thanks.

Good god no, don't tear that strip off, whatever you do. Get a chemical solvent, something like Goo Gone for it, otherwise you'll likely tear up some of the disc and ruin it.

it's on the art side, not the side that the laser reads from...there is an air bubble between the strip and the disc as well...you could stick a toothpick between the disc and that little air bubble

That is very odd that they put it on the disc.

Sounds like a DumbAss mistake by an employee, clearly damaging the disk in such a way is asking for you to return the disc, which of course your going to do right ??

So, the big question for Cory, or anyone else for that matter, is have they added anything to the preorder list? It seems like it has been sufficient enough time for the E3 announcements to have triggered a few new preorder possibilities. Even without considering E3, it has been a while since anything new has been added.

as for games, pre-orders are available but they don't qualify for the trade 2, pre-order for 30 deal

as for the system, they suggested that they are waiting until the units are priced by microsoft

at least this is what my sophisticated gr manager has told me

I've been waiting for them to add some pre-orders, but to no avail.
I am really looking forward to Marvel Nemesis, Mario Baseball and Strikers. Still not in the system though.

Picked up a Black Dreamcast w/green controller for 9.99...thanks GR!

The Commerce, MI (DrFrielGoods) GR has a sign that requests that thier shoppers please stop hiding games elsewhere in the store for later...or they'll be band. That made me laugh

Thats a HUGE problem at my store, the computers would always say the game is there, but its not. I would find it in the most obscure place too, Like I found a Jade Empire in between some PS2 Maddens. Lucky the case was green, or I'd never notice it. I also found a used Devil May Cry 3 in the back of a NEW gamecube section while rummaging for the 50% sale.

I just looked at the xbox 360 games today and they have updated the price to reflect the $59.99 price point.

slow trade day today but what I can remember

PS2

NBA Street Volume 3- $30
Timesplitters - $1.50

Xbox

Star Wars Obi Wan - $8
Simpsons Hit and Run - $8

Gamecube

Star Fox Assault - $30

I also have a much bigger more accurate presale list. The new guy I mentioned before from ebgames has been sending the game managers this presale list, not sure if all are getting it though. Otherwise all stores get an updated one with each new MAP (its in the back right before the barcodes)

I have no problem letting them do the deal as long as within reasonable limits.

If I know they are not a flipper, and are usually parents or new people, I will be more inclined to let them go ahead and do the $5 more than once, provided they do have 3 per $5 game they get and are generally good friendly people.

Basically I'll be good to you, and if your good back, I'll be double or triple the good (aka trade 3 get 1, trade 6 get 2, trade 9 get 3, etc.)

The Commerce, MI (DrFrielGoods) GR has a sign that requests that thier shoppers please stop hiding games elsewhere in the store for later...or they'll be band. That made me laugh
Niiice, I need another dreamcast.
Sounds like a DumbAss mistake by an employee, clearly damaging the disk in such a way is asking for you to return the disc, which of course your going to do right ??
i'm probably just gonna trade it in...i might be able to take a pic of it though

It's $20 new, $18 used. EB is the better deal ($10 new).

Whats up guys? I'm finally back from Japan! SpottedNigel, that sign cracks me up too. I havent been up to work yet so I had no idea about it. We have had a lot of problems with missing games during inventories though. I must say, though, I never really found many hidden games during my shifts. I always thought theft was the major problem.

I was at the Novi store and they had a Mario Kart in the Previously viewed DVD section. Of course, the also had meet the fockers and a team america sitting on top of the popcorn that was for sale...i think its more a matter of bad upkeep/annoying customers than people hiding games. I need to try and get a clear pic with my phone so i can transcribe it on here (unless DrF. does first...and welcome back!) mainly because it mentions the "Regular flippers" or something close to that. It was weird.

I'm a big fan of that no hiding games sign...

Traded in some ps2 games today at the novi store and got untold legends

then did trade 2 get a game for 30 (mercenaries $30, agressive inline $1) at the farmington store and got tony hawk underground 2 psp

So I've been reading the 23-pages of this thread... I'm still not clear if you need a BB membership card to get in on the trade 3 games/$5 deal.

If so, do you need to apply for a new membership for every location that you go to in order to take advantage of the trade-in deals?

I saw someone trade in some games at a BB and they were signing some agreement form and asked for their ID but I don't recall if they required him to give the membership card... is driver's license enough?

No Gamerushes near my area, just BB.
Has anyone else had success getting other GCN games to work for the 50% off? Corey- does the barcode work effortlessly with non listed GC games?
Anyone? Bueller?

You have to have a BB membership to trade games. Then you also have to sign a trade agreement.

Someone I know tried to use the barcode with Jungle Beat with Bongos... didn't work, only regular Jungle Beat.

Based on this, I assume the coupon is just tied into the specific SKU's of the 50% off games.
