CAGiversary!
ALL INFO AND DEALS FOR GAMERUSH (pm/post with any suggestions)

If your in the Oklahoma City area stop by my store at Nw 50th and MacArthur (for now). If your a flipper/scammer at least spare my store the crap titles unless its for presales...thanks. If your good I may hook up with with a special "modification" to a current deal that you may greatly enjoy...

Please note in the next few weeks I will be changing stores to Hefner and Rockwell. They needed the help and while I like my store the pay raise was justifiable and my current sm is moving to pittsburg.

Current Deals

Trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game (LAST DAY IS MAY 16!)

Beginning March 15th till May 23rd, trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game. PSP, NDS, GBA, Xbox, Gcube, and PS2 only. No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals). Also be aware some titles that sell for $4.99 may not work either (Haven, Project Eden, etc.) So don't get upset when they don't.

You may be limited to 10 per day though YMMV.

Trade 2 games and get New Releases and Pre-Orders for $29.99 til September 5th (subject to change)

Should go till September 5th. New releases and Preorder games only $29.99 with 2 game trades (see exclusions above or aka the usual).

This works on all preowned games including retro/n64. If any employee disagrees they can call my store at 1-700-22-40049 (not many people know about it but it calls the store in the company by the last 5 digits store code).

Buy 1 Preowned game get another 1 for 50% off. Takes off lowest priced title so separate and make sure employee scans your groups and barcode seperate.
Price and selection will vary by location and quantities are limited. Offer not valid on previously rented movies, sale items or in conjunction with any other discount or offer. 1 out = $14.99 the first month....$19.99 thereafter
2 out= $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

$0.99 Retro Games

All Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, and Nes games are $0.99. Games available depend on which store you go to. Games may not be marked as $0.99, but they will ring up that price. Trade in value of all games on these systems is now $0.25.

OTHER INFO

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

At most all the ones that I've been to I've been able to do trades right up until closing time. At some stores that's midnight, at others it's 1am on weekends.

Nothing like doing a massive all-day shopping run and topping it off with a few after midnight trade-ins at blockbuster.
Yes, this is another reason GR kicks Gamecrazy's butt... I couldn't believe when I went to Hollywood at 10pm and the Gamecrazy section was chained up and dark.

As for trading late at GR (11pm or so), that is really better because it tends to be pretty empty then and you can spend some time doing multiple trades/preorders without holding up the line :D

That would be last weekend's trip (about 200 miles of driving and 12+ hours of shopping). I'd seen a copy of Final Fantasy II at a Gamerush location that I knew I'd be coming back by later in the day (I wanted to trade for something at Gamerush that I could trade for enough credit to pick it up first). Got there at about 9:58 just in time to slip in before they locked up.

You'd be surprised -- I've had times where there was almost no one in the store at that time and other times where there was a huge line. I've found it's generally much less busy earlier in the day when they first open.

You can't trade past a certain hour in some states it depends on the management though. There are laws in some states regulating times trade ins can be accepted for pawn shops and I guess some managers think this governs them so like here in Ohio a few GRs won't accept trade ins past 9PM. If you don't have these stupid laws then of course you are good to go till BB closes too but just throwing that info out there.

Any of our GR employees got any hint of a 64 sale like what we got for PSX? Do GRs accept the memory expansion things for 64s? I found Majoras Mask at one of the GCs but didn't recall if it needed the expansion or not and I don't have one. Hoping I can pick one up at Gamerush with credit instead of paying 20cash on ebay.

don't feel much like weeding through days of posts to find this out so...can we preorder xbox 360 games yet? if so please imbellish

I could definitely see early in the day being less busy. I was more referring to going at 11pm vs the 5-8pm dinner/after work period. I'm not a morning person so I'm not likely to be there before noon. Probably early afternoon on a weekday is good though.
This probably won't matter to most but I will probably changing stores soon. I've been asked by the higher ups (and offered roughly a 15 % raise). It will be Hefner and Rockwell in Oklahoma City (the busiest one). With my current store manager of 4 years leaving and such i've decided I will probably go. I do think I'll be able to do more there and I will make sure my old one is set to go.

As such I may not be able to post/respond much while I get settled in over there and get it up to speed.
as i told you today i am glad you will be moving to hefner and rockwell (closer to my house !!!)...thanks for your help today corey, hope hot shots is good....see ya soon...

I don't recall seeing anyone post about trade value for Halo 2 or Burnout 3 for X-box.

Trade a copy of each that were purchased for a decent price of $12.99 each

Halo 2 - $16
Burnout 3 - $23
that is without extra $5

I traded in 8 games total. He let me double dip for a second game which was sweet.

I traded in a copy of Echo Night Beyond last week and they gave me $25 before the extra $5. I dont know about this week but GS is selling used copies of this game for a whopping $39.99! This game can be purchased used at EB for $10. There has to be a glitch in their system.

I got forza as well today and the game kicks total ass. Used the trade in two games get one new for $30
Some terminator game i got from TRU for 2 bucks 1.75 trade
and Mad Mistrio i got from TRU for 1.50 earned .75 trade. Had left over credit and got the game pretty much free.

No word on an n64 sale yet. I can tell you that n64 sales have slowed dramatically though so maybe soon. Gr does accept expansion packs though they seem to sell quickly and oddly enough have a high theft rate unless they are in the plastic cases./

Majora's Mask does need the expansion, unless I'm mistaken. I've picked up 2 of them, they were both in the systems when I bought them (which is why I bought 2). :D The rule of thumb? Ask the employee to see if the expansion was left in, and you might get one.

its an awesome game. i picked it up yesterday and ive been playing it ever since. its only 39.99, which is not a bad price. i highly recommended it if you liked any other hot shots or mario golf games. the graphics are great and the gameplay is good too.

i havent actually played any hot shot golf games or mario golf. ill think about it. i hate renting games since it costs 7.50, but i might just wait for some more reviews. i have no doubt that it is a great game, but i just dont know if its my kind of game. i have always found games like link and tiger woods fun though

IO- since you wanted some help with what games to preorder, could you tell me what games you already have on PO and whtsystems you own

Will GR price match trade in values? I was just wondering because Transworld Surf for GC is getting $27 at FYE, and I would rather have credit at GR.
Will GR price match trade in values? I was just wondering because Transworld Surf for GC is getting $27 at FYE, and I would rather have credit at GR.
Yes, they do match trade in values if you have written proof of the competitor's offer (an ad, a receipt, etc). They will not, however, give you more credit than the price they are selling the game at. So, if GameRush is selling Transworld Surf for over $27 used, you should be able to price match.

As a GR employee, I'd just like to point out that in a lot of stores, the game advisor can't leave until all trades are processed, which involves getting a manager to print out labels, transferring cases, etc. So depending on the store, the sooner in the day you can get your trades in, the happier the clerk will be. Getting a bunch of trades 5 minutes before I'm supposed to get off has ruined some evenings for me.

For those kind souls who take this into consideration... thanks! :)

Went in today and did the following:

Traded in:
DBZ Sagas PS2 - $35
Crash 'n Burn PS2 - $13
ESPN NBA 2K5 PS2 - $13

Got:
Star Ocean: Till The End of Time NEW - $20
Tube Sliders GC (rare NEC title) used - $30
Mech Assault 2 used - $13.50 (buy 1, get 1 50% off)

I just went the other day and got $30 (w/ out extra $5) for NFSU2. I thought it was odd that that game was still getting so much.
Hah, if Tube Slider becomes rare I'll have to go back and buy all the ones that I've traded in over the last few months!
It doesn't help much that ViolentLee and I live in the same city...but since this was my job for the last 2 weeks...I haven't seen a used or new Tube Slider in all that time scouring Los Angeles. Not that I was particularly looking for it.

whats tube slider?

can anyone give me some games that you can make credit on at gamerush using the trade 3 get an extra 5 that can be bought at gamestop or eb (preferably gs).

i know:
timesplitters 1-1.50 (5 at gs)
stuntman-1.50 (5 at gs)
brute force-3 (costs 6)
malice-11 (costs 8 used)
kessen-1.50 (5 at eb)

any others? i need to get some friends birthday gifts, and id like to get them $50 games for cheap. any others you guys know of? i also know about echo night, but i dont want to lay down 22 cash for the game. thanks for any help.

good to know. generally I don't go in too late. GR has done so much for me, I wouldn't mind going early for the trades.

Hmmm... I remember about a year ago Costco had a ton of these for $12.49 or so, and I passed on it because it didn't have great reviews. Who knew? Still, I'm surprised GR is selling it for $30 used - even if it might be rare it doesn't seem like they sell older used titles for that much very often (e.g., I got Suikoden III there for $19.99).
IO- since you wanted some help with what games to preorder, could you tell me what games you already have on PO and whtsystems you own
I'm back in town and will go into GR tomorrow. I have GC, PS2, PSP, and DS. I think I will preorder Burnout 4 and get Hot Shots Golf for PSP. I'd like to do 2-3 more preorders if possible before the $5 bonus deal ends.

What I have preordered (I have posted this list in the GR preorder thread, but will post it here with updates for those who only read this thread and might want some preorder ideas themselves):

GC - Zelda
GC - NCAA Football 2006

PS2 - Star Wars III (I guess this is out today?)
PS2 - Radiata Story
PS2 - Final Fantasy XII
PS2 - Ratchet Deadlocked
PS2 - Kingdom Hearts 2
PS2 - Jak X
PS2 - Shadow of Colossus

NDS - Kirby Canvas Curse

PSP - Death Jr.
PSP - Gran Turismo 4 Mobile
PSP - Jak & Daxter

So, any ideas spin03? I'm not into FPS's or horror games. I want Fire Emblem but they only have the new GBA version in their system (though they say it is for GC - but it has the GBA title and release date).

Games that I would expect to see soon but weren't on their lists last time I checked:

DS - Animal Crossing
DS - Mario Kart
PS2 - Tales of Legendia
PSP - Tales of Eternia
GC - Mario Baseball (I guess this isn't official yet - probably at E3)

I will be forwarding this up again. Apparently Blockbuster decided to change regions for my area so we have new RDO, Game Specialist etc.

So, Doom 3 LE still gets $37 BEFORE extra $5?

I think I may bite the bullet and get rid of it.....I might pick it up again when they have the trade 3 get pre-owned for $5.

I could be wrong, of course, but I rarely if ever see a copy of Tube Slider around. Even if it's not uber-rare, I thought it was worth having in my collection. And there's always a fine line between rare and valuable. One man's gem is another man's coaster. Looking on Ebay, a few copies have gone for < $10.

For the person who asked, it's a futuristic racing game for GC. It was published by NEC of TurboGrafx fame, when they came back a year or two back to put out two games -- Tube Slider and PS2's Culdcept.
So, Doom 3 LE still gets $37 BEFORE extra $5?

I think I may bite the bullet and get rid of it.....I might pick it up again when they have the trade 3 get pre-owned for $5.
38 before the bonus

IO- some games i reccomend

PS2:
psychonauts

PSP:
mvp baseball
x-men legends 2
midnight club 3
GTA

dont think there are any more GC games you need. also, probably shouldnt preorder ds games right now since nearly all of them are $35 and it would only save you $5.

Anyone know if Echo Night Beyond is still going for $25 in credit at Game Rush? Im working out a deal to buy it for about $5.00, haha!

io - i could have sworn that i saw earlier that cory said the pre-order deal was not going to end until september

Preordered a couple more games. Kameo, which has been rumored to be on Xbox 360, is in their system which also says it was released earlier this year in February. Preordered it and Half-Life 2 which has a release date in 2003 according to their system. Also to the user who has asked about xbox 360 games, here are a few I've seen in their system (according to ign):

The Godfather
Quake IV
Madden 2006
Call of Duty 2
Kameo (this one I've read on teamxbox)

Also here are some trade-in prices (before the extra $5 bonus)

MechAssault 2: $14
Unreal Championship 2: $35
Midway Arcade Treasures 2: $5
Apex: $8
io - I could have sworn that i saw earlier that cory said the pre-order deal was not going to end until september
Yes, but I was hoping to get a few more in with the trade 3 extra $5 bonus deal as well before that ends.

ALAS, however, it is a sad day in Wilsonville, OR... I was informed today that they are no longer able to double-dip. I had to pick between the $29.99 deal or the $5 extra deal. They were told not to allow combinations sometime between when I was last there (Saturday) and today. It's not a big deal, because I was pretty much tapped out for preorders anyway and the $5 bonus deal is ending soon, but a downer nonetheless.

I was hoping to pick up Hot Shots Golf Open Tee for PSP and preorder Burnout 4 using both deals. I had some $4.99 games from Best Buy, a Midway Arcade Treasures for GBA from TRU ($4.99), and a Castlevania GBA that I just picked up at Target for $4.98. SInce I would have taken a loss on the GBA games I decided not to preorder Burnout 4, and just got Hot Shots instead. Wasn't quite the profit I'm used to, as I spent $10.48 to get $12 in trade credit. However, I would certainly have bought Hot Shots for $29.99 even if there was no deal.

My plan was to get those 2 games today and preorder 2 more tomorrow after seeing your suggestions (thanks spin03) but I will hold off now. I'm either going to return the Best Buy games or take them to a regular Blockbuster and just build up some more credit. Though I *might* try to go out there again and see if the evening staff is up on the change in deals - maybe they don't all know about it.

In preparation I had gone into a regular Blockbuster and had them scan a bunch of UPC's I printed on a sheet. Hopefully these can still be of use to those who can double-dip. The games I was checking on were ones you could get for $5 at BestBuy with the coupon, ones on sale at Fry's for $14.99 this weekend, and a few Target anf TRU clearance items. Looks like the Fry's games aren't worth it for sure, even with double-dipping - no Constantine or Digimon deals this time. All are WITHOUT the $5 bonus this time:

PS2:
Star Ocean - $8
Ribbit King - $1.50 (meh)
Polar Express - $5
Midway Arcade Treasures 1 - $7
Metal Arms - $5
Kelly Pro Surfer - $3
Goldeneye - $8
Future Tactics - $1.50
Def Jam NY - $8
Strike Force Bowling - $1.50 (meh)
Beyond Good & Evil - $5

GBA:
Midway Arcade Treasures - $2
Castlevania (classic NES) - $2 (surprising since they sell it for 20 new)

It is possible, as with Digimon Rumble Arena, that the Xbox version of some of those Fry's games might fetch more. If anyone else finds out please post them here.

So, reviewing this list again, it looks like I will be returning Ribbit King (which is a fun game to play with the kids but I already have the GC version), Future Tactics, and Strike Force Bowling to BestBuy (but looking for another MAC 1 and BG&E), and returning Castlevania to Target. The rest I'll use on the $5 bonus deal at another Blockbuster.

On a happier note, they had my Revenge of the Sith ready for pickup, and also they still had DS Zoo Keeper available for $19.99 (still with a $34.99 tag!). With those and Hot Shots Golf I've got plenty to keep me busy. I was also able to get the new PacMan pinball game for my son at the regular Blockbuster for $14.99 - they didn't have it at GR.

Well, as I said, there's a *chance* the other staff might not know of the decree, though not much of a chance. If I go tonight I'll let you know how it goes. You can always use those games and build up credit with the $5 bonus - then use that on preorders later (with 2 cheap games).

(Wow, Powerdrome finally dropped (and quite a bit). I still have one more of both PS2 and Xbox. Wonder what happened to the Xbox version?)

EDIT: Noted scrapdawg02's correction and my confirmation that Xbox Powerdrome still fetches $16 with bonus - so, no drops on Powerdrome this week!

I also have that Hunter game from Best Buy - I forgot to price check that one. I guess I'll trade that in for the $5 bonus.

Thanks!

Post or PM me if you go. I need to locate some cheap games, my CC didn't have any $1.99 games and they need to close down my TRU. Have yet to hit the local pawn shops, but I probably will. IF you go, could you find out what LoTR Third Age goes for. I've got a copy that I would like to keep but Fry's has it for $15 so I may trade mine in a grab it at Fry's afterwards.

Looks like the poster corrected himself, Powerdrome still gets $7 plus $5 bonus. I still have two myself :) but will probably hold onto them until the Trade 3 get 1 used for $5 starts up.
