Not all GR's are in on this. Of those that do, the rules vary by compentence.

Blockbuster matches, but when I tried to trade in 3 they didn't know anything about the trade 3 games get $5 extra per game deal. They also don't have in store fliers and since most employees don't really their own policies it can be tough to get the deals at a regular blockbuster.

Had a great experience picking up Pikmin 2 the other night. Went to trade in 3 games at a blockbuster in order to get enough for Pikmin 2 with the $5 extra per game. The guy who rang me up didn't give me the extra credit (he seemed new), so I pointed it out to him. He had to call over the manager because he was unsure about the deal requirements. The manager came over and corrected the mistake and was very apologetic. When I brought Pikmin 2 up to the counter to buy he gave me an extra $20 off (think he scanned the preorder coupon)to make up for the mistake. That was in addition to the $5 extra. He kept apologizing even though it wasn't that big of deal to me since the mistake was fixed, but walking out with pikmin 2 for $15 + tax ($50 - $15 for $5 deal - $20 extra from manager) of actual trade in credit made my night.

Legally they can not sell them as new!!! FYI.... They are buying your "used" games even if they are not opened.
 
Really? Very interesting, anyway will BB stock new games, or will I only be able to get old crummy games. I'm going to give them a call tonight, but I can't ATM.
 
This is odd I just got off the phone talking to an employee and he said that they only gave about $8 for the Hobbit for GC. ;_;
 
Well, in a few days I plan on going to CC to pick up Auto Modellista, The Hobbit, and maybe Spawn for trade-bait. My CC has a ton of all of those games, since I want TOS I'll need some games to help pay for it. ;) Add on another 15 and I'll get a lot of money from all of those games, I sure hope they still give 25 dollars for The Hobbit. So let's say they did give 25 dollars to The Hobbit, and I had 3 games with me...

I'd have 58 dollars from those! And those would only cost me about 20-25 dollars to get those... wow, I love GR's loopholes!

Let's hope that employee was just being stupid when he said you only get 8 dollars for The Hobbit.
 
Yes, I hope so too, but that was not my local store lol it was one in Ohio. My local store doesn't start doing trade ins until Tuesday. He did say that they would give $10 for Drake...
 
Nope, I haven't heard about anything, but tomorrow is my big trade-in day. Here's what I'm going to do.

Go to CC, take back Alter Echo and replace it with Auto Modellista, and pick up The Hobbit. Go to Game Rush and trade in Auto Modellista, The Hobbit, Bombastic, Jet Grind Radio (GBA), Space Jam (PS), Official Nintendo GCN controller (they have a deal that you get 15 dollars for each official controller you trade in), and ESPN NHL Hockey.

Now, since they have the add-on 5 dollars for each trade-in (3 dollars for PSX), I would assume I'd get these prices for the games (after the addition got tacked on):

Auto Modellista: 15
The Hobbit: 30
Bombastic: 18
Jet Grind Radio: 10
Space Jam: 4 dollars (maybe 3.50-4.50, too)
ESPN NHL Hockey: 8-9
Official Controller: 15 (since I don't think the extra 5 will be added to that)

So, with all of those added up (excluding my 7 dollars already in my credit account), I'd get around 100 dollars! :shock: Well, 107 with the credit in my account added up.

So, I'd pick up TOS, and probably save the rest of the credit for later usage.

I went to GameRush about 15 minutes ago with 10 GC and XBOX games (one wasn't accepted, though) and 4 GBC games. I checked the trade in values and noticed that about $5 was added on to each XBOX/GC game and that the GBC games were about $1 each for 2 of them and $5 each for the other 2. I kept them since the trade in wasn't that great.

I then start asking him about the prorder deal. I asked if he was going to combine the deals and he said that they were combinable!!!!!!!!!

As I go to get my dad so he can sign the paper, he starts talking to the manager about the deals being combined. I was worried for a moment. He talked to the manager for about 10 minutes and the manager said that the employee was "the game man" (it sounded VERY lame to me as well), he let the guy decide. I swear to god, if that guy hadn't been smoking his cigarretes before I came in, he would have said no. But he said he would take the blame if the store got in trouble. I think to myself that I'm loving this guy.

I then checked a list of games that he said were just some of the big name titles (like Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2, etc.) and that I can preorder any game that I want if anything comes to mind. I preordered Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario 2, and Doom 3 for $30 each.

Then I had a coupon for trade 3 games, get any used game for $4.99 that I had gotten a couple months ago. I saw 2 games that I wanted. Spiderman 2 (Xbox) and Mario Kart DD (GC). I decided to get Mario Kart since it had case, instructions, and was in MINT condition.

Then after I had about $140 from my tradeins - $90 from preorders -$5 from the used game I decided that I might as well get Burnout 3 since I had gotten such a great deal.

As I look at him, he pulls out this coupon sheet and says since I traded in a game, that I get $10 off a new game purchase. Keep in mind, that I had used up all of my trade in of games credit from the trade 3 get a used game for $4.99 deal and the preorders but I kept my mouth shut and just stood staring at him. I got Burnout 3 (Xbox) for $43 after tax but didn't have to pay anything out of pocket since I still had trade in credit left on my card. No cash out of pocket.

That's pretty much a detailed description of the event. Longest post I've written here on CAG.

Pretty amazing deal. That's all I have to say tonight. I have to go do my homework, now. :)

Dude, I think I might've been in the store at the exact same time. :shock: I was there with my sis and her b/f and he had the 'trade 3, get a used for $10' and was listening in during the convo to see if he'd get the extra $5 per game. Then as he was paying, my sister noticed the 'trade 3, get a used for $5' coupon that you had just used. Freaky stuff... :?

Yup yupp. I also got nosey so I stopped right behind to see what games you traded in and I remember seeing PGR2 or some racing game like that... :D

We haven't gotten any word or information on the DS at all, but since Nintendo finalized a price and a release date, I'm sure we'll get something in the next couple of weeks. When we do, you guys'll be the first to know.

All right, today I'm going to have a LOT of credit, and may want to preorder something... what would you guys recommend? I don't need to preorder Halo 2, and I already preordered Paper Mario 2, and Metroid Prime 2.

I might preorder THUG 2, but, that's a maybe. I also plan on getting POP 2, but, I think I can wait for a price drop on that one.

The only problem with preordering THUG 2 (or even POP 2) is that they will get price drops sometime in mid-2005... I mean, the games won't be 50 for long, and I'd want to get games that'd stay 50 bucks for at least a year, but, I mean, getting a new game the day it's released for 30 isn't so bad, I just would like suggestions for titles to preorder.

Hmmm, come to think of it, I wonder if they accept preorders for Mario Tennis, if not, maybe The Urbz? So many possibilities... I may preorder more than one... Good way to spend 60 bucks in credit I'd say.

If I do preorder two games, they'll probably be Mario Tennis (if it's in their computers), and THUG 2. If not THUG 2 and Mario Tennis, then The Urbz and THUG 2.

Insanity I say, but I still would like preorder suggestions.

Well Nephets, atleast preorder games that's MSRP if $50. You can find $40 titles lower than $30 on thr week of release so I'd go with a game that you know you're gonna love, and is $50.

I know POP 2's MSRP is 40 dollars, but what about The Urbz and THUG 2? Since Mario Tennis' MSRP I know is 50... I just hope it's in their computers.

I was really considering preordering RE4, it's just that the release is so far off, and I might just preorder it if I do have extra credit... I was also thinking about MGS 3, but I could wait for a price drop on that one.

Yeah, I went about 3 days ago and it was too late for me to preorder it, too. :(

On my preorder list is X-Men Legends, and Mortal Kombat Deception, regular edition. This is probably old but my Gamerush has flyers going around saying if you trade any 2 games in you can get any accessory for 50% off.

As for DVD trade ins, I heard starting Oct 8 and running to November all DVD's will get you $8.

EDIT:
DVDtalk forums say that the promotion begins October 3rd and ends November 11th.

I did. I should have bought more at CC but I wasn't sure and didn't want to go through the hassle of standing in line to return them if the value was not $25. It WAS $25 and when I went back to CC they were all gone.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be happy with the $600+ credit I have at GR from all the Drakes, CUldcepts, and SPace CHannel 5's that I traded.

THe hunt for a new loophole begins.

I think somebody else here got like over $1000 because of the loophole. THAT'S insane but they have my respect. I only spent about $250 out of pocket but I got the credit and 6 Fully paid games:

I missed out on the big Best Buy and CC clearance, but this more than makes up for it. CAG is great!
