Sales Rumors/Upcoming Deals

There will soon be an additional 300+ items added to the 50% off sale that is currently going on. A list will be made available on here when GR's finally get the email (current expected date 4/20).

Okay, I think I saw the list of new titles that are going to be added to the 50% off clearance, but I'm not 100% certain that's what the list was. Call me 95% sure at this point. The prices for these games will be active tomorrow if they are indeed 50% off.
Lumes for $13 is an awesome deal. Ill swing by and grab that
I saw a used copy of Lumines at my local GR for $9.99.
The copy of Flatout I bought was one of the 'Manager's Specials' deals that was mentioned in the CompUSA thread. The only problem is that the selection of games on special varies store to store, so it all depends if your local CompUSA has this on clearance or not.
Joe, was this the PS2 version? Did it trade for $27? I went to a CC and they had both the PS2 and Xbox versions as "Manager's Specials" but Xbox was $20, PS2 was $10. I picked up the PS2 version and was going to try it tonight at BB. But I know sometimes they have different trade-in prices for Xbox and PS2. Has anyone traded a PS2 one recently? It was only the Xbox version that we could get from TRU way back. I'll probably end up calling later tonight but I thought I'd ask here first - you know what an adventure calling about these things can be .

OK you guys are gonna love this one...I went into GR looking for Lumines, and they had one new copy, in a display case at the front of the store which I guess is for their big ticket games, they have all their new & used 360 titles, as well as 360 accessories and PSP stuff. So I asked the guy to open it up so I could get Lumines, and he brings a bunch of keys over and none of them will open the case. After a discussion with some other employees, turns out they think the key has been stolen and there's nothing they can do. So, yeah, way to go Gamerush, nobody can buy anything 360 or PSP related from this particular store until someone gets off their ass and calls a locksmith (don't see the odds of that happening anytime soon!).

Wait, did you read my story about the guy trying 50 keys and finally, on the last one, 30 minutes later, opening the case? Funny stuff, this business about locking up the cases so well they can't sell anything.

Anyway, I was able to score a Galleon and Flatout today and trade them in. Still $19 and $27 respectively as of Saturday (May 20).

However, a warning on the Flatout. Since I wasn't sure the PS2 version was $27 I did the Galleon trade and asked to check on the price of Flatout (since I "forgot it in the car"). They couldn't figure out how to do it at first and it looks like they pulled up the sale price (not sure if new or used) and it is $29.99. So I thought I was going to have to return the Flatout (I was expecting a trade-in price of $14 or so). However, when they finally were able to get the trade-in price it was, in fact, $27. But if the sale price has really dropped to $29.99 (and I'm not positive since they were confused as to what they were doing) the trade-in price will drop soon (Tuesday or Weds?).

So if you pick any up (or have them sitting around) get them in ASAP.

Truthfully I haven't really kept up with GR since I burned through the rest of my credit before christmas. I stopped by the 2 main stores I did all my trades at in the last week and was surprised at how shitty they have become. Both have about 1/2 the selection of used games and maybe 1/10 of the new titles they used to carry.

That being said we all know you have to be willing to put up with the sheer madness in order to take advantage of the trade system. I was considering building credit back up for the Wii and just by looking at the place that would be a bad idea. The only positive note was the 2 stores I stopped at (Roswell/Town Park - GA) did have a decent selection of leftover clearance games. Allthough I believed quite a bit of them were tagged wrong. For instance Star Fox Assault was priced $25 clearance when its a GH now. Overall the used games sections are starting to look more like the last few days of media play when they had 40 copies of the same 10 games.

Does anyone know how much Gauntlet Seven Sorrows PS2 is getting? I can't believe Galleon still gets $19. I traded about 20 in for $27 last October....

Yeah I did! Pretty ironic, they lock this stuff up so nobody can steal it...but then nobody can actually buy it either :) :(

Another winning policy from Gamerush...

Ok, next person in a GR/BB needs to check on the prices for these games:

Infected >>>> PSP
Getting Up >>> PS2 / XBOX
Matrix: Path of Neo >>>> PS2 / XBOX
Blitz The League >>>> PS2 / XBOX
Dragon Ball Z: Sagas >>>> PS2 / XBOX / Gamecube
Dragon Quest VIII >>>> PS2

They are all going to be $10 at CC next Sunday (along with some others, but I just picked out the ones I think will have the most trade value).
do they still have any of the PS1 games and memory cards at gamerush?
Yes, they still stock PS1 games in the 'RETRO' section.

DBZ Sagas isnt worth much if anything anymore. Most of the "newer" psp games are $12-18, not sure about the rest, but my guess is you wont be making an incredibile amount of profit.
Last time I saw a trade in price for DQ8 it was $27. Hopefully it is still that high. Can anyone confirm?
I don't know about that. The last time I was in my local Gamerush they had marked the price of DragonQuest VIII to $29.99 new.

I used to work for blockbuster/gamerush store. every thing that has been said in the posts are true. the store manger at my store didnt give a damn about the gamerush side. As it did not birng in the money. infcat they only had like 10 hours on the gamerush side to give, up people and make them work gr too. it was realy a bitch working there. i was hired to work at the gr side but 10 hours a week sucked :). so i had to work the bb side too. i know when i was there you could easly rip off gr as no one know the rules on the trades and stuff. Im not sure why they got in to the whole gr any way.

It seems when i went to a gr traing deal they didnt know who all the competitors were. And they wanted me to sale a xbox to a 6 year old LOL. we got in to a big fight about that one and i had to write a leater to the manger to
apolige. so yes every one is right they dont know a damn thing about games.

sorry for the rant . and i know im off topic. ill do better next post.

I have no clue what you are trying to say here....what's wrong with selling a xbox to a 6 year old?

What's a leater?

Atari starts it's Gamers First program on June 1st. Dragonball, Neo and Getting Up are developed by Atari. We might have a week to get these to GR for a good turnaround unless GR drops the trade in price on Tues. the 30th.

I think he was saying that the 6 year old worked for one of the competitors, therefore he couldnt sell one to him. Also the leater is the 1337 version of a letter, teh truth 4 reallz !one!1two

Well, I went in to trade another Galleon at a regular BB. Even though I have traded at this location before they were pretty clueless as to how to do the transaction and get it on a Value Card. I ended up having to take a gift card (since they put it on my account by mistake). Anyway, with all the confusion I didn't get around to asking about many of the games.

But DQ VIII trades for $14, apparently. So I went to CC and didn't buy anything. Wondering if Ecko and Matrix trade for more though? CC has stacks of both, so I didn't feel the need to buy any now. It is up to someone else to ask about those. I did my time today :D.

DQ VIII might be worth it if you get the 110% price match when you adjust next weekend, as that would make it $7 at CC resulting in a clean double at GR (not counting tax of course). The thing is, I tend to get that only about half the time with CC. Sometimes it is just a straight adjustment (like from $39.99 to $9.99).

RRRRRRAAAAPPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I went o Gamerush today and Maddeen 2006 Xbox 360 only gets $10! I was like what? Needless to say I didn't trade it in the game still retails for $60....so I was hoping for something around $25.

Oh and The Outfit Xbox 360 still gets $35.

While that sucks for you, at least it is a good sign someone at GR is paying attention and still cares - what with Madden '07 coming out soon they are being smart. HOWEVER, they can't become TOO stingy with their trade-in prices, as it is all they have going for them with their lack of trade-in deals, crappy selection, and late deliveries. If they start giving EB/GS trade values across the board there is NO reason to go there.

Now if they coupled EB/GS trade-in values with a $29.99 (or even $39.99) preorder deal for PS3/Wii games, then that is another story :D.

Has anyone gotten a look at a recent preorder list for the DS? I'm probably gonna go ahead and cancel my Lost Magic preorder since the reviews are fairly meh. I'll just pick it up for $15 or $20 at some point down the line. I'd like to switch it to Contact, but I'm not sure if its in the system yet. Although, it's an Atlus game, so I might want to reconsider that.

Getting Up has only been out for three months(!!) so thats probably the best bet for a high trade-in if anyone wants to check that out.

Noticed a few price drops at GR today, but don't know if they've been posted already or the games were simply mispriced at this particular store:

Battles of Prince of Persia (DS) $19.99
Burnout Legends (DS) $19.99
Lumines (PSP) $11.99
Lunar: Dragon Song (DS) $24.99
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (Xbox) $14.99
Shining Force Neo (PS2) $29.99

They had New Super Mario Bros. stickered at $29.99 so don't know how accurate those tags were. Other stuff had dropped too, but can't remember them all.

I sold mine disc only on Ebay for $25 and change last week after all fees and shipping were accounted for. Just stick it up there with a buy it now and good pics and you'll be fine.

I was coming in here to check on those CC 9.99 game trade in prices but of course it's already in process :). I'll try to call about a couple of them tomorrow since my stores are usually good about giving prices over the phone at least the crew during the day.

Was that Prince of Persia new or used? That is a great price, I might have to pick that up tommorrow!

I'm pretty sure he means new. I think that has dropped to $20 most places. Is it any good? (Edit - I'm referring to the DS Battles of PoP, but I realized afterwards you probably meant the Xbox WW - that does seem too cheap, for GR anyway).

Come on now, SOMEONE has to have called and checked on Ecko's trade price?? I'd do it but I'm stuck somewhere my cell phone cuts out on me constantly. I want to know so I can pick up a copy on my way to the office tomorrow (though I really don't think those will disappear at CC too quickly even when word of the sale spreads).

Remember with the upcoming across the board drop on atari games I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't getting much now. Since they will be updating GR prices (on new games) by June 1st I would dump any atari game asap to get the best deal. Trade in prices probably drop at the latest 2 weeks after the 1st...

Wow, there was a pretty massive list of price drops on used games today. There were some old favorites on there (King Of Fighters: Maximum Impact, Nigthmare of Druaga, GunGriffon, Steel Battalion: LOC etc.) that were still way too expensive.

It looks as though all used PS1 games dropped to $2. I obviously can't confirm it was all of them, but it looked like everything in the store I went to was on the list.

A lot of the launch 360 games dropped to $35 used, but many of them still trade in for $35 today. That means the trade-in price will likely plummet tomorrow, so if you are holding on to some X360 games you might want to trade them today.

Some of the used prices I remember for the 360 games (there are more that are $35, I've just forgot them for the moment):

$35
Burnout Revenge
Madden
Peter Jackson's King Kong

More than $35 ($40-$55)
Blazing Angels
Call Of Duty 2
Fight Night 3
Kameo
Need For Speed Most Wanted
The Outfit
Perfect Dark
Project Gotham
Tomb Raider
Tony Hawk

A couple of trade-in prices I got today as well:
Under The Skin (PS2) - $19
Capcom Classics Collection Remixed (PSP) - $18
Infected (PSP) - $12.50
Marc Ecko's Getting Up (Xbox) - $19

Thanks, Shipwreck.

Well, damn, earlier today I drove back to the CC I was at last night after I changed my mind about picking up a DQ VIII and couldn't find it (and got stuck in construction traffic to boot). I didn't want to leave empty handed, so I figured my best bet was Infected ($40 game, relatively new should trade for $14-18 I thought). Guess I was wrong. I'll return it later today and exchange it for an Ecko I guess. I hope that price holds till next weekend. I'm not prepared to trade it in until I know FOR SURE that I can get the price match done at CC next Sunday.
So did they ever get a part# for DS Lite? Thread search isn't working and I don't recall seeing info.
No, I've had them looking up and down in their system for it and we can't find it. One glimmer of hope though, the original DS hardware is nearly impossible to find in GR's system as well because it isn't inputted like the rest of the DS stuff. I'm hoping this is the case with the Lite as well and that we just haven't come across the right random letter combination to make it appear on screen.
Traded in Full Auto for $28

I can confirm the prices that shipwreck mentioned. I saw them at my store as well. Gun was $54 WTF!!
Gun's trade in value is $54?

Anyone know if the DS Fat is still getting $60 trade-in? I wanna pick up a Lite, and have no use for the old DS anymore. I'd trade it in now, but am afraid GR won't even get the system in stock...

You'd be better off ebaying your DS than trading it to GR, whether they get the DS lite in or not. $70 - $90 cash is better than $60 in GR credit in every way possible :D. I sold my kids' old Teal DS (from the Nintendogs bundle) for over $100, but if it is a silver or dark blue it will get less - though more than any game store trade in value I'm sure.

One trick - go pick up a cheap clearance DS game at GR (like Zoo Keeper or Harry Potter) and include that in the auction.

Does that same logic hold true for the PSP, or am I unlikely to beat $160 (GR's buying price) on Ebay?

I've never sold a PSP on ebay, so I have no idea. Just check completed auctions for used ones. $160 seems high - you might want to take GR up on that :D.
