Sales Rumors/Upcoming Deals

There will soon be an additional 300+ items added to the 50% off sale that is currently going on. A list will be made available on here when GR's finally get the email (current expected date 4/20).

Okay, I think I saw the list of new titles that are going to be added to the 50% off clearance, but I'm not 100% certain that's what the list was. Call me 95% sure at this point. The prices for these games will be active tomorrow if they are indeed 50% off.
Does anyone think GR will carry the 360 HD-DVD when it is announced? Just curious....credit to burn....which may go to a PS3, if it lasts that long.
Doubtful, but who knows. Ideally they will and no one buys them, then they mark them down 6 or so months after release.

I did not see the 360 quick charge new kit.

I asked again about the PS3 and the lady said when they get a part number, they will PROBABLY start taking pre-orders. So, I'm hoping after E3....maybe even the Wii will be also.

Don't expect any PS3/Wii Pre-orders. Game Rush will slowly start closing down 'stores' in the new few months. They will still take trade-ins, but will no longer do many pre-orders, especially hardware. This is not just a 'guess' this is through hearing it through various sources (Managers) from different stores in different districts. I WAS a Store Manager for this shitty place and still keep in touch with a few select managers that have either moved (and now have new stores) or remainin there same location. All told me roughly the same thing.

DS Lite coming out next month, wonder when/if GR will be taking preorders?

Any current buy low sell high games? I read back through the last several pages but all the talk is of the sale prices.

EDIT: LOL we posted at the same time, you think they will get the Lites?

So... huge clearance sale on all the leftover stock, new and old?
Pre-Orders for the Lite? Doubtful. They can't even get pre-orders of huge titles in on time.
Damn Gizmo, you sure like to come in here and crap on our parade don't you :D. Hey, that all could be the case. Though closing a FEW stores is not the end - we'll see... I'd be more pessimistic if I didn't see them getting shipments of Xbox360's like every other week. They seem to get them more than any other store I've seen ('course I'm in there more often).

We need to see what happens after E3 and all the other stores start taking PS3/Wii preorders. If GR does not have them available for PO within a month or so of GS/EB then I'll start to worry. But your info, even if it turns out to be exaggerated, is enough to make me use my last bit of EB credit to preorder those systems there just in case (they do $50 deposits, right?). Despite my decent amount of GR credit, I was actually hoping to get the PS3 from Costco because of their return policy. You're screwed at GR if there's anything wrong with it a few months down the line, whether GR exists or not :D. I realize I'll probably have to wait till next year to get one from Costco, but that's no big deal. Thanks to CAG (and GR!) I've got plenty of GC/PS2 games to play in the mean time. I was hoping to get the PS3 games from GR though :whistle2:(.

In the mean time we need to start compiling a list of GR->GC game trades (especially when 75% off hits). I can convert come of my credit to GC. Of course, I hear similar dire things about their business as well! Pretty soon we'll all be reduced to buying games at fucking Walmart.

No Gamerush near me, but I traded in the following games on 5/03/06 to my local Blockbuster.
PS2 Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex $19
Gamecube Batman: Dark Tomorrow $4.25
Gamecube Need For Speed Hot Pursuit $7
Xbox Flatout $27

Well, I asked the manager and she said they would start taking pre-orders whenever they got a part number in the system for it. I don't see my GameRush leaving anytime soon....maybe they will phase them out at certain stores though.

I agree - I mean, in some places they are pretty densely packed and maybe it makes sense to close a few there. Like when I did my search in Atlanta and came up with 10 within a 20 mile radius. That's insane - shutting a few down and funneling the existing customers to fewer stores is probably going to help them a bit anyway. I have heard bad things from ex-employees about the financial stability of my GR - but it is all on the movie side. The games part was doing well, at least, as of several months ago (when all the crazy trade-in deals were active!).

In any case, I'm definitely going to put down a preorder at GR as soon as I can - but I will be using EB as a backup.

Is that the norm for GITS? Same @ Gamerush? I'll unload mine for $19...

It's been at $19 for a long, LONG time.
anyone know where we can get flatout for cheap?
Yeah, this has got to be cheap somewhere. I'm amazed this held up. I traded a few in around January from the TRU sale ($10) and thought I needed to hurry then before it dropped . I might check out Fry's - they have wierd drops on games like this sometimes.

I know Walmart has it one the $19.99 rack. Atleast in Blue Springs, MO location. The Walmart is like a minute from GR, so I could buy 2 right before my next game purchase and save $14.

I still see Flatout at the local Walmarts around here, (Centrral Square and Cicero, NY) for close to $20. There was only a few last time I checked about a week ago.

I just visited a Blockbuster/Gamerush, and picked up these games:

Project Snowblind - 4.99 after 50% off (missed the Best Buy clearance)
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - 4.99 after 50% off
Outlaw Golf: 9 More holes of X-mas - .50 after 50% off (trade-in fodder for gamestop's next deal, I suppose)

I also noticed that this particular store had copies of Metroid Prime: Hunters and Odama in stock.

So I just called Gamerush to get a few game trade in quotes, and the guy told me they don't do quotes over the phone. I was like WTF, I've been calling all time. He told me that they were instructed not to give quotes over the phone for a year now. He said it was a nationwide thing. What kind of BS is that? Can anyone verify.

P.S. So I just called the other Gamerush near my home, and they gave me quotes over the phone. Unfortunately, they said that their store, including Blockbuster, was closing down. I hope this is not a trend to come.

Eternal darkness is only 5 bucks? Sounds like it's finally time to pick that one up, especially since I'm running out of resident evil games that I haven't beaten.

Went to GR tonight, and noticed they're still selling the PacMan/Pacman VS on GCN for $34.99. I didn't ask how much trade in value it had (the store was packed, and no employees would of taken the time to do it while I cut in line). But it might be worth looking into.

I went to GR today, and the manager told me that the GR section was closing down due to not meeting quotas...but he assured me that GR (nationwide) would still remain in business, generally speaking, and that they are supposed to start taking pre-orders for PS3 in about 2-3 months. He said that Blockbuster is in alliance with Jamba Juice, so they are gonna get rid of the GR section and install a Jamba Juice there instead.

Movie and a Smoothie in the same store? Sounds like heaven.

I hope they do that down here.

Potentially good news for once... for what it's worth, I preordered NSMB today and the employee told me "Hey, we might actually get that one in on time, there are already two on order." Hopefully that at least means they'll get it soon enough where I can return it where I buy another copy. And as far as Odama goes "They got the cover art, so the game should be coming soon," whatever that means. Though I know someone said they already saw it at their store.

Well, they had Metroid on order and it never came in (as of early last week anyway), so that doesn't mean much... :D I'm hoping they didn't get Metroid this week - I'm going to try to switch it today.

So some BB/GR are closing entirely and some are converting the GR into Jamba Juice? WTF? This is some wierd stuff. I'll have to ask about the future of my store when I'm in there. If they close, I'm screwed .

I think some people are watching too much Sopranos ;) Jamba Juice....oh well, that sucks for some. Not sure if any of mine will open that though.

I think the reason he was optimistic was because they already had copies ordered outside of preorders. Seems like lately all they've been doing is ordering copies to cover preorders, and late at that.

I was gonna ask this somewhat related question earlier but I forgot: Has anyone seen many new games for RENT at BB/GR? The newest GC game I've seen at my BB is Sonic Riders, but they hadn't gotten anything since, nor anything before that since Spiderman, THAW, and Hulk: UD (no Spartan Total Warrior that I actually would like to rent). Cutting down on their rental selection doesn't bode well in general (seems like a lot of of their shelves on the game side are "Buy it" rather than "Rent it" nowadays)

Yeah, my GR gets new titles regularly to rent. They got Rumble Roses, Farcry, and Battlefield for X360 to rent. They have KH2 for PS2. Although I didn't notice an Odama to rent.

Just got back from Gamerush, i can confirm that Galleon still fetches $19 trade-in ($8.99/$8.10 after card @ Gamestop).

Picked up Brain Age & Advent Children. I noticed they had a used eyetoy for $7.50 after 50% off, wish i had waited on that before buying the one for $20. I've still got $90 in credit to blow, anyone know if you can pre-order the DS lite? I wouldnt mind gettin one of those.

anyone know if the eb edge card is now valid at gamestop?

Haven't been to GR for a long time :)

do they take preorder for DS lite yet?.. need to burn some credit, hopefully they'll stay afloat until the Wii come out.. :)

I went to GR today for the first time in ages. Asked about the DS Lite and the guy said he didn't think they were going to be taking preorders for it. He was just a worker bee though....

Only thing I grabbed was Resident Evil Gaiden GBC 2.99 and Zelda DX GBC 4.99.

I've got tons of credit, but I'm not going to bother pre-ordering a DS Lite or New SMB at Gamerush. I think you guys are setting youselves up for dissappointment unless you're willing to get them 2 weeks after everyone else if at that.

My BB/GR was re-configuring the GR section of the store. The DM said they were just moving things around, but the end result is the section just got a lot smaller. :(

I'm hoping for PS3 at this point, since GR's relationship with Sony doesn't seem to be soured.

GR and Nintendo have a really bad relationship. Still stems off the whole 'renting NES games' from 18 years ago. BB/GR and Sony have been on pretty good terms.

this little GR ditty ought to sum it up for those of us who know the full scope of surreality one encounters on a typical visit to GR.

I trade in a copy of Galleon for $19 - must have been the 6th one over the course of 6 months - Lord knows if anyone has even bought the FIRST used copy sitting there gathering dust.

I then go to purchase SSX on tour for $10 as it has been reduced even further since the clearance began.

I am being waited on by the Manager/Big Dog/Head Cheese - a really nice guy who I BS with on occasion who seems to know something...

SSX on tour is stickered at $29.99. He says "you know this isn't on clearance". I reply "I think it is". He replies "It doesn't have the blue sticker so its regular price". (one of the few Los Angeles stores that actually stickers anything on clearance btw). I play dumb and say "I'll take it anyway". He does key clicking and lo and behold he says "WOW - $19.99 - WOW WOW - $9.99" and then mumbles something about UFOs and lasers beams and tin hats. I stroll out with my purchase and wonder why.

why why why I wonder...

I casually mention "Is GR on the ropes or what" or something to that effect.

He looks concerned and says "No - not that I'm aware of - where did you hear that?"

I reply - "My dog Sam told me" and then I ran. I ran so far away.

I couldn't get away...

HAHAHA I laughed for hours it seened after the 'I reply - "My dog Sam told me" and then I ran. I ran so far away.' ah that wa crazy...

PS3 (useful version): $600
Wii: $200 ($250?).

GR credit needed to get both + a few games: $1000

So, any new Red Ninja's out there? :D
Hopefully between now and Nov we can find lots of them.

Damn, I wasn't expecting the PS3 to come in at that price. I thought $500 tops for the deluxe model. I'm even considering waiting on the PS3 now. Or maybe I'll still go through with my plan of buying it at Costco eventually (probably not till next Summer in that case - still haven't seen an Xbox 360 there). No way Sony makes this this rock steady stable on launch.

I hope the Wii is good enough to tide me over till Summer '07. But damn I did want some HD gaming at some point. Maybe I need to cave and get an Xbox 360. Grrr...

And that's about how much GR credit I've got to spend...

Called local Gamerush, still not taking pre-orders just yet.

May Blockbuster/Gamerush live on til PS3 & Wii launch!!! :applause:

I hate when that happens. Same thing happened to me at KB a few months ago with THUG 2 for PSP. It's tagged $50 and they refuse to believe it was $10 saying THUG 1 for the PSP is $10 (of course it doesn't exist). I said I'll buy it even though it's $50, and of course when they scanned it, it rang up for $10.

Damn...I have about $350 in credit, so I may have to find some more way to get some. I basically wanted a PS3 to have...just in-case there is a shortage and I can make a few bucks then I can pick another one when I want one.

I'm sure pre-orders will happen soon now that they have prices....they'll just have to create the SKU's for them.
