Current Trade-In Deals

Trade in 2 games, preorder any game for 29.99!! (July 19th - ??)

Restrictions and rules below:
Alright, I read the map today and here's some stuff on the new deal:

- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

1 out = $14.99 the first month....$19.99 thereafter

2 out = $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

$0.99 Retro Games

All Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, and Nes games are $0.99. Games available depend on which store you go to. Games may not be marked as $0.99, but they will ring up that price. Trade in value of all games on these systems is now $0.25.

GAMERUSH WEBSITE

This should have alot of stuff so please just search around the website before asking questions.

i bought several games on 5/28/05, am i allowed to go and trade those for store credit today 8/3/05 or would that be considered flipping?

also if i were too trade in my xbox, would i get more if i bring the box and papers that it came with?
Switching preorders is YMMV. I think most stores allow it - mine tends to be picky about it but if you have a good reason they might allow it. It shouldn't matter about the price difference assuming you used the $29.99 deal to get it in the first place. It is probably a little easier now that there is an active $29.99 deal - they can just "deliver" your first game and then ring up the new preorder and scan the promo code. That's how they tend to switch them at my store.

As for the stackable deals, Drfielgood says he sees nothing in the fine print that says you can't. However, I imagine that would also be YMMV if for no other reason then some stores made a point of NOT allowing double-dip in the $5 bonus deal and thus might assume they are not to allow it in this case too, never mind the actual details of the deal.
Thank you
Well, the fine print of the preorder deal on Gamerush.com says can't be combined with other offers or discounts. So unclear at this point.
Ah, see, that is their out then. I'm sure I won't be allowed to do both at my store then. I guess the 25% bonus deal doesn't say that, but if the preorder deal does then it is a no go (though YMMV).

sega4ever - I don't think trading games back in after 2+ months would be considered flipping - but as always, YMMV. If your store has a manager specifically looking to ban people you might get in trouble. Though, really, with that amount of time I can't see it being a problem.

But really, how does the preorder deal work in their computers? Does it automatically set up a preorder at $29.99, or do they type it in? Just asking because the first time I did it, he scanned in all my games to get the trade value, then dealt with the preorder. So if they're separate actions, they may scan in the trades, hopefully the computer will up them 25%, and then you work out the preorder.

Worth investigating anyway.

No worries, that is by no way flipping. For trading in your xbox, you don't get anything more for papers and the box. On August 9th, you will be able to get an extra 25% on your trade ins, so if these games are newer games, it might be worth it to see if you can stack deals.

Yes, that is the way it works.

The deals are completely seperate which is why they CAN do the double-dip - the computer certainly doesn't stop them. They will scan your games, scan the bar code for the 25%, and then have you sign your slip for the trade-ins. Then they input the part number for the preorder, it rings up at $49.99 or $39.99 or whatever, and then they scan the bar code for the preorder deal which discounts it to $29.99.

There's no connection to what you've traded in - in fact, they could give you the $29.99 preorder deal with NO trade-ins (they have done this for me when they let me switch my Y's Naphistim for PSP preorder to Animal Crossing DS since Y's is coming out at $29.99 retail - yes, I had traded in 2 games orignally for Y's so I wasn't getting some sort of under the table deal :D).
anyone still getting 28 for gran turismo 4?
At two of the the three gamerushes i go to they still get $28 and i have a couple of more KOF: MI and GT4.

Oh... to further this deal, you can get a $5 Blockbuster gift card at Nordstroms, no purchase required. My friend found this on FW somewhere.

Just go to bpnordstrom.com, click on the Blockbuster logo, print out the form, take it to any Nordstroms, and get your gift card. I would imagine that should be effective at Gamerush.

Hey - you're right, look at that! Hey, maybe this way I can get my wife to help me out with gaming deals - "Hey honey, how about a trip to Nordstrom for some shopping?". After she gets over the shock I then break it to her that she needs to bring this coupon with her and get me a $5 gift card (whilst I also get one since it says 1 per customer). :D

Hey it's only $10 in Blockbuster credit but if we're headed to the Mall for other reasons, might as well...

My thoughts exactly, that's why I'm heading over to the mall on Thursday with my girl. Maybe a couple times. Not to be abusive or anything.

$10 basically is an additional trade-in.

it is definitely different in california and no sympathy given by gr for the fact the trade price is higher in other states

by the by, i was told the 25% deal wasn't going to happen in california either

I read the new Gamerush flyer at work today, and for the new trade 3 get an extra 25% credit deal, the sale price of the games you trade in must be at least $7.99. I honestly don't see the need for this exclusion, as worthless games wouldn't really be beneficial for people to trade in for this deal.

Yeah, I actually thought the 25% was a clever way to deal with the bonus credit on cheap games (as opposed to the $5 per game bonus of "the good ol' days"). That way there's no need to check games vs a list or worry about exclusions - it would save them from flippers AND make the trade-in process faster. Oh well, whatever, my store actually didn't even mention the $7.99 thing when I was doing preorders so maybe they've lightened up a bit.

I got my gamerush to price match The Wherehouse.com trade-in prices. They even gave an extra 10%.

Traded - In

Freestyle Street Soccer (XB) - $19.25
Shadow Ops: Red Mercury (XB) - $ 24.75
Army Men: Sarge's War (GC) - $ 30.25

Preordered

Burnout Revenge (XB) and had like $40 left over

Good lord! That one is ripe for abuse :D. Isn't that game $4.99 or less at Blockbuster - and in mass quantities?

Did you just bring in a printout from the Wherehouse web site? I have a feeling this wouldn't fly at my GR, but I might try it with some games I have sitting around at a regular BB. Anyone know if regular BB's price match tradeins? It might be difficult to do because the employees there aren't so familiar with game trade-ins.

yah, i just brought in the print out from the wherehouse.com. It should work at all gamerushs. It says that they will pricematch all competitors trade in price in their most recent flyer.

OMG, them giving you 19$ for Street Soccer is frickin hilarious. If flipping was bad before just watch this one get abused :)

Why O why would they think they needed to match their competitors, their trade values were already much better. You corporate fools!!!

Hell, $30.25 for Sarge's War? You can get that for $10 used at EB. Now that's a good trade-in.

I'm gonna call over tomorrow and make sure that my GR won't give me any trouble with matching trade values. Then I'm getting myself a few more preorders (damn wherehouse.com has some sweet values)

I found a game on that site that tops those games. The original Timesplitters (4.99 @ GS) gets a whopping 26.25. I'm not going to even try to pm at GR cuz they won't raise the trade-in value over what they are selling it for.

i know it says 26.25, but i haven't been able to get more then $3 cash for them. I have heard the same stories for others.
my guess is that most grs won't accept an online print-out or will just refuse to take trades on those games
I tried it a long time ago, and was told they don't after the manager called his DM for confirmation, because they have no way of knowing if the online print out is valid, or if I just photoshopped it.

Was trying to get them to take Astro Boy at 18 bucks trade in, and the guy noticed that "we sell the game for cheaper than that, I need to call my DM to see if we accept online".

Here are the few problems with price matching trade in credits:

1. The trade in credit cannot exceed the selling price of the game

2. When I tried doing this, GR needed the original reciept with the trade in prices. If I get a trade in credit slip from FYE, and price match it at GR, they need to have the original slip for the deal to happen.

So you'd have to have two copies of the game (one to trade in to get a receipt, and one to trade in matching that)? Or do you just have to go and have them scan it and print out the credit you would get?

Traded:
Mortal Kombat: Deception PS2 $12.50
NCAA March Madness 2005 PS2 $12.50

I have a question guys...the gamerush pre-order list says that Kingdom Hearts 2 comes out 11/15/2005, but EBgames.com says it comes out 12/01/05...which should i believe?

Will Gamerush accept the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 promotional (not for resale) copies? If so, was there anything extra that you had to do for the trade?

Thanks,

I don't know what the disc you're talking about looks like, but if you want to trade that in, don't give them the cover. Take the cover (since it says NOT FOR RESALE on it) out of the case and leave it at home or throw it away. That way, there's no problem. They'll just look up the game, how much it is, and they'll give you the credit.

As long as the disc looks like a normal one it should go fine. Blockbuster doesn't like receiving things that say "not for resale on them" but w/o the cover, no one can ever tell if it was resale version or not right?

Promotional copy, not for resale is printed on the disc too. :( These are the copies that came with Area 51. It still may be worth a try. I'll just make sure to take off the cover.

They wont take it if it says not for resale on the disc too this has happend to me before, but its worth a shot so good luck.:)

Well, November 15th is a Tuesday and December 1st is a Thursday...

So, does the extra 25% deal start TUESDAY the 9th? I have some games I want to get rid of....I'm waiting until I pick up my Madden on Tuesday....just wanted to make sure

That sounds good I just got 4 copies of Freestyle Street Soccer from my Blockbuster. 3 copies of the GC one and one XB one. I'm probably gonna reserve Bully (PS2) or LoZ: tTP (GC). I wanted 25 To Life, but that comes out near my birthday in Sept. and FFXII and KH2 come out near Christmas, so I'll just get those then. Then I'll rent or buy Fire Emblem for GC later, maybe with this deal. I want a game that releases soon because all I have to play right now is Halo 2 and I'm getting a little bored of it. Any suggestions?

Mario Superstar Baseball looks like it will be good. Comes out late August - preorder it at GR with the deal, since it most likely won't be less than $40 anywhere else.
Yeah, the extra 25% starts Tuesday the 9th.
Thanks...I'm in MI, so hopefully we have it. It will beGREAT if I can double dip...I have like 6 games to trade in.

Black Hawk Down
Midnight Club 3
ESPN NHL 2K5
ESPN NBA 2K5
Gretzky (PSP)
Tony Hawk (PSP)

This should net me some good loot towards an XBOX360....IF GameRush gets them. Do they have the 360 system in their system yet? I may just take the credit if I cannot doubledip either. Since I'm running out of things to pre-order. Any suggestions? (XBOX/PSP only)

they still are not ready for the 360 yet, apparently they are waiting for the official price to be set, it does sound more definite that it will be a bundle (system + warranty + game)

i have 15 pre-orders myself and every new one i get is a game i am unsure about but what are you going to do -- the pre-order deal makes it a no-lose situation since you can promptly turn the game back for $35 (and pre-order again!)
lol you are the smartest man alive...btw, do all newly released 49.99 games trade back in for 35?
i definitely am not the smartest man alive, last year i had about the same number of pre-orders but didn't open them right away (for example, metal gear solid 3 -- i actually did open and start playing, i never got really into it but i did not want to give it up because i was sure i would play it, by the time i got around to wanting to play it, i could have picked it up for $15 to 20 - thus a CAUTIONARY tale), my advice don't get so buried in games that by the time you get around to playing them they are trading in at $10 or less

as for the 50 buck games always trading back at $35, i don't think it is a firm rule, sometimes they even start lower (say at $30) before jumping the next week to $35, one thing you can do is not open the game until you see a $35 trade-in and, if it doesn't happen, return it unopened and pre-order something else
