Current Trade-In Deals

Trade in 2 games, preorder any game for 29.99!! (July 19th - ??)

Restrictions and rules below:
Alright, I read the map today and here's some stuff on the new deal:

- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

1 out = $14.99 the first month....$19.99 thereafter

2 out = $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

$0.99 Retro Games

All Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, and Nes games are $0.99. Games available depend on which store you go to. Games may not be marked as $0.99, but they will ring up that price. Trade in value of all games on these systems is now $0.25.
Metabots for GBA or gamecube?
I think it is the GC version that is getting $15 at GR, right?
Just about the only GBA game I see alot of green-tagged at TRU is Iridion II.
I scoured the GR racks for cheap games that qualify as PO at EB games. If I find any (I have to compare what I wrote down to the EB exclusion list) I'll post them here. These can be used for the trade 3 for GT4 or any other upcoming deals EB might have. It's a way we can buy cheapies from GR and dump them on EB instead of the other way around. Hey, maybe it will even help them stay in business :D.
Wow, looks like there isn't much. The following $7 games look like they qualify at EB: PS2 Starsky & Hutch (which is easy to find at Best Buy new for $5, and I have verified that it does work at EB), PS2 Star Wars Starfighter, and PS2 Escape from Monkey Island. So, using Buy 2 Get 1 free you are out just $1 less than 3 new games at Best Buy. Probably not worth it unless you want to use GR credit instead of cash for the EB GT4 deal. There are several $10 games that qualify if you want to spend $20 (like Spideman, Van Helsing, probably a bunch of others - I wrote down mostly $7 games). I only went through the PS2 and GC sections. Maybe there's a few $7 Xbox games as well.

Turok for GC is $5 NEW at GR (mine doesn't have it used so not sure what it would be used). I bought the only one they had for the GT4 deal already. Checked today - they didn't have any more in the back even :D.

In case you don't follow EB, their current deals are trade 3 PO games for a new GT4, and trade up to 5 for $10 each towards a Madden 2006 preorder. I think there is also one for a NASCAR game (4 games maybe?).

Traded in:
Project Snowblind PS2 $10
Baten Keitos GC $14

and pre-ordered Mario Superstar Baseball -- which was awesome at E3. It's oldschool, like back when baseball games were fun.
So If I got banned at one Gamerush I wont be at the others?
Thats depends on how the ban was established. If the District Manager requests the ban, chances are he will have you banned at all stores in his district. This happened to me, so I know what I'm talking about. However if you're lucky enough to have been banned by the store manager, you should be able to trade at other GR's. Their systems are so loosely connected you could drive a truck through the holes.

So, what are people getting for GT4 these days? It was still $28 when I asked yesterday. KOF:MI was still $18...

I'm curious about these $20.25 prices people were getting for GT4 - was that only in CA? Is it still the price there?

Has ANYONE found any other new preorder possibilities?

Ok thanks. I got banned by a store manager so I should be good at the other GR. Sucks, though, to have to drive an extra 5 miles.

this too is of great interest to me

is anyone getting 28 for gt4 in california?

I was in ridgecrest (china lake) this past week, and would you believe that they have a gamerush there. I asked what GT4 got because I still have it sealed from when it first came out and what not. I was told ~$20. I am going to try to exchange mine today for something else, since its still sealed and could sell full price. The ridgecrest store had a sign out saying that they were allowing xbox 360 titles at 29.99 using the trade 2 deal. I hope this info helps someone.
Does anyone know if GR has Indigo Prophecy in their system for pre-order?
I checked last week, and the employee said it wasn't in the system yet.

Well, I was finally able to turn cheap GR games into a couple of GT4's at EB. The GT4 deal runs though Sunday so you've got just little more time to try this.

I took the EB exclusion list posted here at CAG with me this time and scoured the GR racks for $6.99 games that weren't on it. You need to be careful, though, because there are some alternate spellings for some games.

I came up with the following:
PS2 - Escape from Monkey Island
GC - Sphinx (careful as this is POX on the other systems)
PS2 - Herdy Gerdy
PS2 - Pryzm
PS2 - Starsky & Hutch
PS2 - Star Wars Starfighter

The guy at EB told me Starsky & Hutch wouldn't work (but of course I knew it would since it is one of the $5 games from Best Buy that everyone uses).

Note that the EB employee who posted the exclusion list (now THERE'S someone who could get in trouble with their employer - since EB is kind of secretive with that thing nowadays releasing that is much worse than anything Cory ever did to GR!) says it is changed every month so some of these games may go on the exlusion list in August. In addition to the GT4 deal, EB has the Madden and NASCAR ones as well.

I couldn't find any games for less than $6.99 that qualified. The one exception is the BB exclusive Freesytle Street Soccer which is not on the list. I didn't want to take my chances with that (and since it would be the only $4.99 game I wouldn't save anything because of the B2G1 deal).

Another note - I forgot how much EASIER it is to trade games in at EB. The GT4 deal took less than 1 minute each time. After the first one I asked if I could do another that day - they said no problem. GR has me gunshy with the deals for fear of the all-mighty ban. EB doesn't make you feel that way. Yeah, generally, their deals aren't nearly as good (and with the GS merger that will probably be the end of ANY good deals), but for now I intend to pay more attention to what's up there. The deal for any 3 GBA games for a Nintendogs sounds good (though they haven't quite got their act together about it yet - give it a few days). I noticed a few $4.99 GBA games at GR today. Since I HAVE gotten such good trade prices over the last 6 months from GR, though, it does feel nice to unload some of their shelf-sitters to EB for them :D.
Has anyone inquired whether or not GR will be recieving the LE version of Death Jr. for PSP?
I thought it was a EBgames/GameStop exclusive....
what is gt4 fetching, since you can turn GR credit into GT4 at EB and then sell GT4 for ??
Well, there's been some controversy over that. It seems that maybe, just in CA, it is getting $20.25. Othre places it gets $28 - at least the last time I checked which was Weds. Turning $14 GR credit into $20.25 isn't really worth the trouble unless you happen to be going to both places anyway. But for $28 it might be (plus, of course, it is another game you can use towards a preorder).

is there a decent way to use GR credit to rack up EB credit. I want to get some credit over to EB so I can buy some of the games that GR wont carry. Will EB let you swap GT4 for full credit towards another game, similar question with that nintendogs preorder deal. seems like a way to do so by breaking even.

GameRush usually has better deals....I'd use my credit there. I suppose you could use the buy 2 get 1 free from GameRush and trade those in at EBgames....not sure why though.

How does this deal work with DS games. It says pre-order any game with two trade-ins and get the new game for $29.99. How much do DS games cost when you trade in two games and pre-order one? $9.99?

No, they cost $29.99. Thus, it is only worth it to preorder $39.99 or maybe $34.99 games. I only do the latter for games I'm going to buy anyway there with my credit. I was able to switch my Y's for PSP (which is retailing for $29.99) to Animal Crossing (for $29.99) so I didn't even have to trade any more games in for that. (I had to fully pay for a normal Y's preorder to make the manager happy though - he's the one all worried about being 'stuck' with cancelled preorder stock).

Basically, I've got some extra games I want to trade in anyway to build up credit - since there are no new preorders lately (anyone?) it doesn't hurt to get some $34.99 DS games preordered... I'd be trading the games anyway.

Does anyone know what the next trade-in deal is going to be? I have a stack of games, but I don't want to use the 29.99 preorder deal.
Help me if you can
No. Gamerush and BB don't interchange those deals.
Some of them do work, such as the buy 2 get 1 free, but not the trade-ins.
well that sucks :(

Anyone know for sure when the preorder deal ends? I know its been asked in this thread but I don't believe any confirmed date was given, and GR site doesn't give any details.

And anyone know what the trade-in for Four Swords is?
Anyone know for sure when the preorder deal ends? I know its been asked in this thread but I don't believe any confirmed date was given, and GR site doesn't give any details.

around mid-october

Its not so much that regular BB's don't have deals on trade-ins - it is that they only follow the preowned deals. The $5 bonus per game and the trade 3 get a PO for $5 were both valid at regular BB's. They tend to have most of the same deals - just not ones on preorders or new games since they don't get too many new games in at regular BB's (and they don't do preorders).

IO, I might have to follow in your footsteps because I might be able to switch preorders if I use the trade 3 GBA games, get Nintendogs for free. I could get Nintendogs, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, and Mario and Luigi 2 for around $60. Feels good to unload a lot of the crap off of GR's shelves.

Yeah, I've held off buying GBA games because the EB Nintendogs deal is too YMMV right now and might get canned before it gets off the ground (just a feeling, no info on that). As soon as people say they can get Nintendogs with ANY 3 GBA games and the computer automatically handles it (or the infamous coupon is easy to get) then I'll go to GR and pick up 6 GBA games. My kids are already excited about Nintendogs but we don't know jack about dogs (except what they do to our lawn) so I'm not sure which ones to get...

But as for the EB deal, the only people who have been able to swing it are those who get EB employees to override the GBA trade-in prices for them. I called an EB and they said the computer should handle it - since we know that is NOT the case right now I won't try going there :D.

I thought about getting another set of 3 games at GR for another GT4 at EB but decided that I'd already gotten enough and stayed home and played wth the kids today. And tomorrow is my wedding anniversary so I need to tread carefully with my gaming deals :D.

Hopefully Monday will bring a new EB flyer with the terms of the deal clearly stated and then I can hit up GR for their cheapy GBA games.

around $4 for nfl 2k5 and $18 for chaos theory.

The BB near me is still doing the trade 3, get an extra 5 on games, so here's what I got (minus the extra 5):

Midway Arcade - 7
Beyond Good and Evil - 5
Metabots: Infinity - 15.75
Eternal Darkness - 1.75
Brothers in Arms - 11.25

The manager had no idea that the trade in deal was still going, and then he refused to add the extra 5 on Midway because "its a minigame". Still managed to get 70 bucks from it.

potty mouth!

and 2 the other guy above me

how the heck did you get and extra $5 per game? LUCKY!

Well it looks like gamestop and EB have changed the price for burnout revenge from 40 to 50 just like i thought they would. Which means gamerush has changed it to. I reserved it when it was 40 doing the trade 2 games deal. They better not try charging me the extra 10 when i pick it up in september.

same here, I hope it doesn't become a problem

Just preordered some stuff at gamerush today using the deal.

I traded in:

PSP-Fifa Soccer $28.00
PSP-Ape Escape: On the Loose $22.00
PSP-Coded Arms $22.00
PSP-Lumines $22.00
XBOX-Doom 3 Collector's Edition $30.00
XBOX-Fuzion Frenzy $7.00
XBOX-Nightcaster II $5.00
XBOX-Batman Dark Tomorrow $5.00

I preordered:

GC-Geist
GC-WWE Day of Reckoning 2
GC-Mario Superstars Baseball
GC-Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I ended up with 12 something left still in store credit after the tax.

When I used the 2 for 29.99 to preorder PoP: Warrior Within last year it was originally 39.99, and then a month before release Gamerush bumped up the price to 49.99. I didn't have to pay any extra money when they bumped up the price, but I guess it would still be ymmv.

Also this deal ends on October 31, assuming they don't pull the plug early again.

Well if the deal goes to october 31st i could change the pre-order to a different game if worst comes to worst right? (the worst being they make me pay the extra 10)
Gamerush stores should have the new Gamecube demo. Damn is that Mario Superstar Baseball addictive!
Good, already got that one preordered.
I checked again today while picking up 6 cheapo GBA games - they still don't have Super Mario Strikers or Mario Party 7 in the system.

There were exactly 3 $4.99 GBA games at my GR - 2 copies of Iridion 3D and 1 copy of Fire Pro Wrestling. I also picked up 3 $6.99 games (Bomberman, Mighty Beanz, and Monster Bass Fishing). First I had Excitebike but when they took it out of the security case and opened the box there was no game inside, so I switched it for Bomberman. Also, the Iridion's rang up at $14.99 but they credited the difference.

I then took 3 of those games to an EB and got a Nintendogs preorder - sweet! I'll take the other set of 3 in next time. It has been great that the GT4 and Nintendogs deals at EB have required 3 games - matches up perfectly with Buy 2 Get 1 free at GR. In the last week I've unloaded 12 cheap games from GR and onto EB :D.

Thanks. I will ask about it next time I stop in.

IO, could you just give me a brief rundown of what happened at your EB? My nearest EB is 15 minutes away in a busy outdoor mall, so I don't want to go to get shutdown. I called other EBs (45 minutes away, not worth the gas/time) and they found it in the system, and there was no coupon required. The closer EB to me couldn't find it in the computer, but he said since the other stores had it in theirs, he said just to bring in the games, and it should automatically do the deal.

Any advice on GC games to preorder. I sold my xbox, I have no gamecube games as of now, and all I have played as of late is CS:S. I have my DS, but I am saving my games for my trip in late August. What are some good GC games to preorder, other than Zelda? Preferrably, before XBOX 360 comes out.

Thanks for any help.

DO NOT GO to an EB that thinks the computer will automatically do the deal if they do not have independent proof that the deal exists. That worked for GT4, but not, so far, for Nintendogs. You need to go to one that has their own info on the deal that tells them 3 things: 1) Trade 3 GBA games for a Nintendogs preorder. 2) ANY GBA games work - no exclusions. 3) Deal started July 29th. Armed with those 3 facts they will probably give you the deal, even if it means they have to override the game values and manually adjust them to $10 each. The guy at my EB had to call someone else and they told him to do that. There is also the complication of a coupon being required. However, this is YMMV - at my EB they didn't mention it. At others they override that as well. Some won't do it without the coupon, though no one knows where this mystery coupon can be found!

Basically, at my EB I was lucky enough to get the same guy who I talked to on the phone 1-2 hours before, so he knew what I wanted. He scanned the games, checked the computer and a binder, asked me which version I wanted, checked the computer again, called someone, then manually adjusted the games to $10 and gave me my preorder slip. Didn't require much on my part except keeping the kids from destroying the demo DS system while we waited :D.

Hope that helps - there's no guarantee but it really helps if they know about the deal and its requirements over the phone first - then they will *probably* accomodate you. I just wish I had done my second set of games at the same time - it might not work at the same store on a different day with a different clerk (unless I'm bold enough to show my slip from the other preorder - with there being different versions that provides some cover for such a move :D).

As for GC games, it sounds like the best one coming out short term is Mario Superstar Baseball. After that maybe Advance Wars (which is called Batallion Wars in the GR system). I've never played the Advance Wars series though, so I have no idea what it is like. Same for Fire Emblem - though you can't preorder that even though they claim it is in their system (it is really the GBA one). Other than that there isn't much except for some cross-platform titles (Hulk, Ultimate Spiderman, Tak, MAT 3, Spartan Total Warrior, etc).

Thanks for the help IO. The stores that were far from me said that there was no coupon needed and there are no exclusions. I am just sort of nervous that EB might pull the deal, so that is why I wanted to jump on it. I will wait for the August flyers to see what happens. Worst comes to worst, I will have to pay $30 for the game instead of $15.

Hey has anyone preordered Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike from GR? I went in today to trade in a couple games to pay for and preorder it. The GR guy couldn't find it in the system...... Maybe it's in the system but he just cant find it? I hate this GR 90% of the people working here are incompetent and should be fired and or hanged. I wonder what EB gives for MVP 2005 and GTA double pack both for xbox. I tried to call and the guy said he wasnt allowed to give prices over the phone.

I'm always bitching about this store but i continue to go there because it's literally a 5 minute walk from my house. I shudder when i walk through the door and see this one particular idiot behind the counter he needs help to do EVERYTHING. The guy has been working there longer than i've been going to this store and i've personally seen him told how to check out a paid for preorder at least 4 or 5 times just for me and he still needs help everytime.
