Current Trade-In Deals

Trade in 2 games, preorder any game for 29.99!! (July 19th - ??)

Restrictions and rules below:
Alright, I read the map today and here's some stuff on the new deal:

- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

1 out = $14.99 the first month....$19.99 thereafter

2 out = $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

$0.99 Retro Games

All Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, and Nes games are $0.99. Games available depend on which store you go to. Games may not be marked as $0.99, but they will ring up that price. Trade in value of all games on these systems is now $0.25.

This should have alot of stuff so please just search around the website before asking questions.

This deal works with PREORDERS. That means if a game has already been released, it's excluded.
I PREORDERED Madden 06, which comes out in the future. This is a pretty good deal, as long as you don't preorder any GBA or DS games that are going to retail for $29.99

Which Gamerush do you go to? As far as I know, there are none in Tampa... it would be a hell of a drive to go to the Saint Petersburg / Clearwater ones just to preorder a game.

There is a Gamerush in Wesley Chapel. It's at the northern end of Bruce B. Downs where it intersects with SR-56.

Thanks... would be a hell of a drive for me though lol

Well, they wouldn't let me switch any pre-orders to XBOX360 for $10 more. They will only give me $30 back....oh well, my store plays by the books, which I cannot really complain.

Also, does anyone know what NHL/NBA/NFL 2K5 gets (all 3 of them)? I think those will be my next trades...assuming I can find something I want to pre-order
They have to have a used resale price of $7.99. The employee is just uninformed (not much of a surprise, since BB doesn't educate their employees very well). Try again with a different employee or try to explain the details of the deal to the same employee.
I went back in today and told her to look at her map. Another (educated) employee got right behind me on the point I was trying to make, and he did my transaction for me. She looked like an idiot.

I was at a GR today, and all of the GTA:SA was pulled, I talked to the manager about it, and she said how they wont even take in trade in of the game anymore. She hasnt gotten much word from corp. , but she said they might be told to destroy the copies they have, as BB doesnt carry anything AO.

you should check again to see if you can just switch the pre-order

while the x360 thing is verboten, my store has always allowed me to change pre-orders which i do when i see the reviews coming up bad ala conker

Well, I wanted to switch from XBOX to 360. She said I would only get $30 credit back since I used the $30 deal way back when (before the current one). It's policy....most stores just seem to have uninformed employees

Xbox Bard's Tale $12.25

Pre-ordered The Godfather, for $29.99 it was an offer I couldn't...well, you know the rest.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate on how much I would get in credit for these games at GS/GR?

DDRMAX-PS2
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance-Xbox
Beyond Good and Evil-PS2
Driv3r-PS2
Doom 3-Xbox
Max Payne 2-Xbox

I'm not sure if I'll be able to find my GameStop card to get in on this 50% more deal so if you could guess how much I would get from each store would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. It's good to be back! :)

hmm, I wonder if we can convince our freinds at GR to give us a copy :)

Nevermind, I called my local GR today and I would get 30$ for those games. DDRMAX can't trade in for some reason. :( And I really, REALLY want Killer7 for the GC, too. :(

They could destroy them... or just return them to Rockstar for replacements... that is what the store I frequent is going to do.

The guy game isn't rate AO? I'm suprised.. I mean the whole point of the game is to see some tits.

I guess is because there isn't any "prolong sexual activity" in the game. I mean, the girls doing it.

Some trade prices:

PS2 - GT4: $28
Xbox - NHL 2005: $12.25
NDS - Ping Pals: $6
PS2 - KOF:MI: $18

Preordered Animal Crossing DS and Battalion Wars for GC.
They do not have Mario Party 7 or Super Mario Strikers in the system yet.

Also price checked several things:
GC - Baten Kaitos: $14 (I passed this up at CC for several 'lesser' titles - d'oh!)
GC - Prince of Persia 2: $14
PS2 - Project Snowblind: $10 (interestingly the Xbox version won't scan, but maybe I mistyped the UPC)
Xbox - Hitman Contracts: $5
GC - SRS: $6
PS2 - NHL 2005: $9
GC - NHL 2005: $12.25
PS2 - Bloodrayne 2: $10
NDS - Ridge Racer: $10 (sigh, looks like yet another CC return)

The shocker was that NCAA Football 2005 for GC was down to $6 or $7 (didn't write this one down since I had it with me). I bet they dropped it with the PS2 and Xbox versions because 2006 one came out - since they seem to be fully unaware that the GC version doesn't exist. EB games, on the other hand, kept the GC NCAA Football PO while making the others POX, so I used it instead for the GT4 trade-in deal at EB.

All the GTASA were gone from my GR, but the local Blockbuster still had one. It was a PO copy for $39.99 and was beat to hell so I passed on it. I know they had several at one point because I kept seeing them when I was looking for good games to get with the $5 PO deal. They probably just missed this one when they pulled the others. It still scanned in the system though.

By the way, I bought a new Turok for GC for $4.99 and verified that it is a PO title at EB so you can use it in the various deals there (particularly the GT4 one). Here's the interesting thing though - I know I traded 2 or 3 copies (total) of GC Turok into my local BB and the GR. I was going to buy those back to use at EB but neither store had ANY copies. So, on this title, anyway, it seems that they were able to sell the cheapies I dumped on them a few months back. I don't feel so bad for BB now :D.

It is $40 at EBGAMES, and Gamestop, so it should be official. I can't believe they would make you pay $10 more.

Gamerush received a letter from corporate instructing each store to pull all rental, new, and used San Andreas games from the shelves, box them up, and put them in the back. They're also not supposed to accept them for trade.

...August 16th, according to GameRush (and many other sources)

Yesterday I went to Gamerush to trade in two games in order to get a preorder for $30. When the employee scanned the games it said that I had been banned from trading. I were confused and asked why but he and the other employess didnt know. They told me who had put on the bann and said he would be in later that day at 5:00.

So at 5:00 I called gamerush and asked for that employee and he said I had been banned because I'd been trading in sealed games and duplicates (and I had). He said it would be okay if I came the next day and talked to the manager and that he would lift the ban if I didnt do it again.

Today I went to gamerush and talked to the manager. He said Id been banned because I had either stolen games or bought them for a better price and was trading them in for a profit (he said this was called flipping and was illegal in the state of Oklahoma). He said if I ever wanted to trade again I had to bring in a reciept so they could adjust the price I got to less than what I payed.

All this has made me pretty angry: first they tell me they will unbann then refuse and accse me of stealing. Also I was under the impression that flipping was trading in a certain number of games and getting a used one for a certain price and then trading that game right back in the next day.

Has anybody had a simillar experience? What should I do? Lastly, does anyone know if flipping (by the managers defenition) is really illlegal in OK? In any other states? Seems like a pretty stupid law?

I came across an oddity today. Apparently GameRush will not accept Sega Smash Pack for the GBA. They have a used resale price of $9.99 in their system for it, but there is no buy-back price. It's awfully strange that they would refuse to not accept this game considering I know of no other game that they flat-out will not take for trade-in. Well, besides GTA: San Andreas now.

You're not doing anything illegal, but trading in sealed games will automatically throw up a flag at any place that accepts trades. Flipping is buying games for cheap at GameRush and then trading them back to GameRush for more credit. The employees you are dealing with are obviously over-cautious. Nothing you are doing is illegal though, it's called capitalism. GameRush does have the right to refuse to let you trade in games though, so they've somewhat got you by the balls there.

There is really nothing you can do. As far as I know, it's not a law, since they have NO WAY of knowing where you are buying your games at. Gamerush banned me after trading in 3 or 4 copies of Druaga, stating that "they knew I was getting it cheaper than what I was trading in for it" but they didn't know how.

Basacially, you sign the trade agreement, and they can do what they want. Just another horror story from Gamerush.

The manager is probably just trying to tell you it's illegal to scare you... I know in the trade agreement they can refuse your trades, but some employees and stores take it WAY too far. Illegal, AND accuse you of stealing?

Game Rush is comprised of 95% of people who work for Blockbuster. Most know very little about games, and the whole 'trading' concept is new to them. Just goto a different GR and open an account. Also, next time, OPEN THE GAMES UP. If you are unsure if you want to trade them in, CALL them first for trade-in prices.

Yeah, but it is definitely YMMV on what they tell you and whether they ban you or not. Back when I was young and naive (about 6 months ago) I was bringing sealed games into GR to trade. Beyond asking the manager if they could accept 2 copies of a game at once (even then I didn't try more than that!), they had no problems with it. They asked me if they were OK to open and that's it. Ahh, the good old days of $1-$3 Mojo's from TRU :D.

Now, however, I never bring in more than 1 of something at once (even though their policy supposedly allows 2 per DAY), and of course I open them beforehand. If I have more than 1 of a game, I try to bring it to a regular BB or wait a week or two before bringing it back to the same GR.

NOW, here's some suspicious behavior that the GR manager told me about when we were chatting the other day: he said a girl brought in over $600 (in trade credit!) worth of PSP games in, ALL sealed. THAT sounds like it might be a theft issue - or possibly just a bad breakup :D. Since we all know it is difficult to find PSP games dirt cheap (to make them worthwhile to buy just for trade-in) there's something fishy going on there. But they should save their accusations of theft and illegality for obvious cases like that (and in this case, apparently, they took all the games no problem!). Yet they ban someone for bringing in 2 or 3 copies of Druaga or NBA Live 2004 or whatever. You'd think if someone was going to steal for trade-in they'd stick to newer titles :D (like all the PSP games).

well ever since we got a gamerush here in tulsa I've been trading in sealed games and duplicates and not once did an employee give me a warning. And now all of a sudden they ban me. Also if I'm banned at one gamerush can I still trade at another?

I think this is the issue that many of us have here - of course, per the trade agreement they can ban/limit/be arbitrary all they want. What they haven't done, in any case we've heard here, is WARN anyone about it first. If they don't like certain games or certain practices above and beyond the specifics of the trade agreement that's FINE, but just tell people about it!
I would like to see the trade agreement but I can find it on their site. Can anyone post it or a link to it? Thanks
It is posted either early in this thread or maybe in the previous GR thread - just search around CAG for it. There's nothing too specific in it (about game limits or unopened games or any of that sort of thing) - just general wording that allows them to do what they want with you :D.

That's another really strange exclusion. I'm sure there are plenty of kids that would want to play Kim Possible. I could find plenty of other games in the store that they accepted that they should have no use for.

Has anyone gone to the Gamerush in Arcadia, CA to see if they accept preorders for 360 games? Going out in August to see family and it would be nice to preorder a few games which my relatives could pick up and send to me. Thanks

This is what I have a problem with. If the employee would have said "Hey, look, we can't take any more Druaga's in, we're pretty full" I would have said "Oh, that's cool, no problem".

Instead she accuses me of flipping, saying that "she's going to figure out my scheme" and that when she does, she's going to ban me, and I'm banned if she ever sees me trading in games "like this" again.

It's the fact that they are NEVER civil about it, from what I've seen and read on here, and the "holier than thou" attitude really gets to me.

Thats utter BS, the agreement says you can't commit fraud, but thats about it. However they can ban you for anything they want, I was banned for doing what you're describing, I was told it's against the spirit of things. Bloody stupid in my opinion as lets face it, if they can make money selling whatever you trade, what do they care where you got the game and how much you paid for it. If they are giving you too much for a trade in, thats their poor management and nothing more. I mean I traded 4 games at EB tonight, all new in their wrapper, the clerk checked them against the POX list and then completed the trade. He didn't care that they were obviously new. The Wherehouse have a slightly different spin on this and thats simply if they see any sticker on the box that isn't a full price sticker they will reject the game. They basically refuse to accept used games, that you bought used. Isn't that a trip. Thank god for goo-be-gone.
