- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

Preorder Lists (Dates are subject to change and when those changes happen up date us in the thread and I will try my best to update here in OP so people won't have to read through the thread to find them)- Credit to io for supplying these lists.

Here are estimates.

Lockdown-$30
SC:pT-$6
Tiger Woods 06-$35
Baldurs Gate:Dark Alliance-$5
Ghost Recon 2-$14
Black Hawk Down-$30

Total: $120

I don't think you would get as much at EB, but you never know.
No verification of this yet today? Well, read on...

The GOOD:

- Picked up Ultimate Spiderman for GC today

The BAD:

- No Battalion Wars yet.

The UGLY:

- They are giving 40 cents for the following Gamecube games, at least (in addition to the ones bskeillor mentioned): Pikmin 2, Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance (I got $8 for it a couple weeks ago), and Fifa Street (I got about $16 that a few weeks ago). Final Fantay Crystal Chronicles was still $8-$10.

So it certainly isn't ALL Gamecube games. I also seriously doubt it is ones they have "too many" of. Has anyone seen this with any PS2 or Xbox games? They certainly have too many of some of those! They are up to something with the Gamecube. Wish we still had some GR insiders to tell us what was happening.

You'd think Xbox games would all go to 40 cents or whatever given that the Xbox 360 is coming out soon. Gamecube games will still be good even when the Revo comes out because of the full backwards compatibility.

Also, if they were clearing out space by getting rid of Gamecube games, you'd think they would sell them cheaply. Fifa Street is still selling for $34.99. UNLESS those games are GOING to be on sale, maybe starting tomorrow - like maybe clearanced for $1? That would be the only reason I could think they would drop to 40 cents. If that is the case, I'll be clearing out their used GC section :D.

So, either they are up to something strange, or this was some mistake - perhaps they meant to adjust a bunch of GC game prices and entered $0.40 by mistake. It would be nice for everyone here to grab a few more GC games next time you are in GR and have them scan them for trade-in. Let's see how widespread this is, and if it lasts past the usual Tuesday price update.
A little off topic, but i'm seeing a very obvious trend of retailers deemphasizing the GC stuff. I was in GS yesterday, and they had removed the GC games off the wall oand stuck them all in a rack. I actually prefer this format as I can scan the spines very quickly, but still. It looks like the GC is dying very quickly.

They also just closed a GR close to me. They actually closed the entire store, but it was strange that they would invest all that money in reconfiguring it, to only shut it down 9 months later.

Anyone seen FarCry yet ?

I think this was inevitable. With the Xbox 360 needing a lot of prime shelf space this November, something had to give, and its no surprise that it was the Cube. Still, hopefully this will mean there will be some excellent GC clearance sales!

sorry could anyone tell me do you get the credit for the games that you trade in or the credit is just gives you the chance to preorder a game for 29.99. plus anyone have a list of what game that has a trade in value of 7.99 thanks

You get the credit of your games towards the 29.99. And for a list... see the previous God knows how many pages. And its not games with a trade in value of 7.99, its games that GR sells back for 7.99. So usually that means a trade in value of $3 or more.

The only good that will come of that is that eventually I will be able to finish up my GC wish list for cheap and my fiancee will stop bugging me about my spending.

FYI for anyone who cares, I called Blockbuster for some prices on used games. These are sale prices.
PS2
Killzone= 14.00
MGS 3 = 19.00

XBOX
Silent Hill 4 = 16.00

I'm pretty sure they gave you the SALE prices of those games. I called about Silent Hill 4 a few weeks back and it was $8 for trade-in. Now, it is possible they raised it to $16, but more likely that is the price they sell for.

I bought MGS3 from Blockbuster for $19.99 two days ago. If that's the trade in price (which is most likely isn't) I'lll trade mine in with another game towards a preorder, and re-buy the game at Best Buy.

Those are the prices they sell those games used for. Somebody earlier in the thread had asked how much a used copy of Killzone was at GR.

GR didn't get Far Cry. Tomorrow I am going to trade in Far Cry:Instincts, Burnout:Revenge, Ninja Gaiden:Black, and Rainbow Six 3. Hopefully I can get $90. I might keep NG:Black to play it on XBoX 360, but with all of those launch games, I really won't have time.

Today I went in and at the Farmington Hills, MI GR they let me switch Godfather (Xbox) to Godfather (Xbox 360), and then I switched LoZ:TP to Kameo for the 360. I did have to pay an extra 10.60 for each game, but if they drop in price they will refund me the 10.60 back. All in all a good deal.

Still no Battalion Wars at this GR, Plymouth, or Brighton.

Also I forgot to ask how much God of War trades in for, does anyone know?
Those are the prices they sell those games used for. Somebody earlier in the thread had asked how much a used copy of Killzone was at GR.
You are correct. I edited my post to state that.

Did they close the GR portion, or the entire Blockbuster?

Your reply is a little confusing, you say you didn't get FarCry, yet you plan on trading it in ?

I hope to get my FarCry tomorrow. Maybe I'll ask if I can switch my pre-orders tomorrow from Call of Duty from XBOX to 360. It depends who is working....most are pretty strict and actually follow the rules...which is ok.
Your reply is a little confusing, you say you didn't get FarCry, yet you plan on trading it in ?
Sorry I didn't make this clear.

I don't own an xbox. I sold it back in June to make some extra cash to buy an xbox 360. I am going to pick up my copy of Far Cry w/ free R63 and trade that along with my copy of Burnout Revenge that I picked up last week. I am still not sure if I will sell NG:Black or not. I will probably keep it.

Picked up NBA Live '06 and Sly 3 today...

Many Gamecube games are still trading at 40 cents. I thought it might change with the Tuesday prices. Two more that are 40 cents - Spyhunter and Rocky. The GR dudes had NO idea why that was happening. The games were still selling for their full normal used prices (not $1-$2 to reflect the lame trade-in values :D). They assume it must be a mistake, so if GR is up to something (phasing out GC, having a big sale, whatever) they haven't communicated it to the employees.

Oh, and Mario Party 7 is now in the preorder system.

Too bad I didn't have any games with me, and a couple of the ones I have at home to use would only get 40 cents anyway. On the plus side, since they still sell for $10-$35 they should qualify for the preorder deal :).

Why are so many having problems getting Batallion Wars? I hope I dont have this problem with Shadow of the Colossus! Or Spartan Total Warrior; I want that to be my next PO for the GC.
Why are so many having problems getting Batallion Wars? I hope I dont have this problem with Shadow of the Colossus! Or Spartan Total Warrior; I want that to be my next PO for the GC.
You won't have a problem with Colossus since that's a PS2 game, and you probably won't have a problem with the GC Spartan Total Warrior since that is cross-platform. I got my GC Ultimate Spiderman on Monday, no problem. And got NBA Live and Sly on their release date (today) no problem. It is GC exclusive titles that they tend to have issues with. Mario Baseball was a few days late - but BW is now over 1 week late. Very bad... Oh, and no Lunar Dragon Song for DS yet, though I didn't really expect that one so soon. As always, they claim it will be in on Friday. EB has it releasing (or at least shipping from ebgames.com) today (Tues) though.

Trade in value for
Wipeout Pure - PSP = $22.00
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow - XBOX = $6.00

I picked up MGS3 and Killzone for the PS2 last night for 28.39 total. That was after the 25% off. Price after the 25% off are as follows:
MGS3=$14.00
Killzone = $12.00

Some rumors that I got from a Blockbuster manager that I figured I'd pass along.

Rumor 1: They will now apparently be getting more than 10 X360's per store, but she didn't know the new exact number. This was how they handled the PSP launch as well, so this was to be expected. But if you were planning on pre-ordering a X360 at GR and they had already reached their limit of 10, check back in the next week or so to see if they have more available.

Rumor 2: Sometime in October, the trade 2 get a pre-order for $29.99 deal will be expanded again to include games that are already out as well.
Entire store, it was in Cerritos, CA
I used to go to that one sometimes during my lunch break. Well atleast there's still the one in Garden Grove. I usually stop by after work.

Not sure if anyone knew this about normal trade in's at blockbuster/gamerush. But if within 14 days of trading in your game to GR/BB, you find another place giving a better trade in value, they'll match it and beat it by an additional 10%

Bezerker, my friend we have known this fact since Gamerush was started. The only thing is finding trade-in prices that are better than Gamerush.

Some would like to use FYE but the only thing is the trade-in price has to be advertised for them to match it.

Went to my local GR was going to rent Far Cry but they only had for sale copies in and no rentals, usually it's vice versa.

Picked up used mint and complete RE:Zero for GC, $10.32 with tax after the 25% off deal.

The are giving $35 for Burnout Revenge Xbox, mine will be going back soon. It's a fun game but i'm getting bored of it.

Does anyone know when the 25% off used games deal ends? I doubt it will go into late November/early December when XBOX 360 launches, but you never know. If GR has a buy 2 get 1 free deal going on when xbox 360 launches, I will probably only get 2 launch games, and then get 3 more with the buy 2 get 1 free.

I posted this a while back - but the barcode that they scan for the deal has it running through January. Of course, as with other deals, they could certainly pull it sooner, but it seems this is intended to be long term. Since it is not as good a deal as Buy 2 Get 1 free (except in the case where you can find a single expensive game like I did with Stella Deus) I don't see why they wouldn't keep it going. Though I'm sure they got rid of a lot of lower-priced junk with Buy 2 Get 1 free, so maybe they'll bring that back. It would be great if they would run both (where you can pick just one of the two deals of course).

Shipwreck - at my GR they told me the rumor of bringing back the trade 2 for any (already out) game at $29.99 a while back. If it really happens, it would be the first time they knew about something before it actually started :D.

I still want to know what's going on with the GC trade-in prices.

Edit - Holy fuck... This was my 1000th post. I need to get a life :D.

Well that sucks. I almost PO Batallion Wars too. It was between that and MK SM, but I got MK for the ko op. I dont know how my gamerush would have handled the deal as I havent PO much from them.

If shipwreck's rumors are right though, I would LOVE to get Batallio Wars new for $30 in October. My only question is, for this type of deal, would it apply to instock games only, or would they order it for you?

I haven't traded in a long while. I have 2 PSP preorders from march still in the system. But that's it. I haven't been feeling like new games lately. Until I can get some 360 preorders...

I haven't traded in much lately either. I'm waiting for a 360 deal, so I have about 5-6 games I would like to get rid of. I may just trade some in though. It would be nice if they expanded the trade two deal to NEW games, but I know 360 games would not be included....so I'm out. I only want 360 games now...with a fewPSP here and there.

Maybe you will get it before me :D.

I'm not sure about having them order things - they don't seem to get things that they have on order for months at a time...

I just called my GR and they still don't have Battalion Wars, but they DO have my Lunar Dragon Song for DS. That's just isn't right... However, I'm heading out on another week-long trip and I'll be glad to have the DS game with me. I guess Battalion Wars can wait until Oct 7th - they better have it by then!

Stupid thing is that they have an empty Battalion Wars case on their "hot new releases" rack with the $49.99 sticker on it. They just don't have any to sell.

Oh - don't forget, Mario Party 7 is in the system now - I know alot of people were waiting on that. I'm going to preorder it when I pick up Lunar later today.
Anyone pick up "The Suffering: Ties That Bind" yet? I was given the usual 'friday' response.
Anybody get FarCry yet, I'm going to be mad if the free item is not there this time. They have stiffed me on the last two freebies, I did not get the xmen shirt, and I did not get the comic book with spiderman. My GR is going down the tubes.

On the other hand my EB is getting better and better. I picked up Ninja Gaiden and Kingdom of fire: Heroes last night after cancelling the NBA 2006 and Suffering preorders, and I preorder Stubbs the Zombie)

Of course I would still be preordering from GR if I wasn't still banned....

My GR had Far Cry for sale but no rental copies yet as of 1pm. Rentals would either be in this afternoon or tomorrow. Hope they got them in today because i'm getting ready to go to town and i'll be right past there.

Thanks for the response. I will try to hold out on some launch games for xbox 360. I will probably get like 2 at launch, and then buy more later. I want to buy Kameo, Call of Duty 2, Perfect Dark 0, and Oblivion for sure, and then I have interests in Ghost Recon 3, Saint's Row (not sure it it is launch) and I think that is. I might just get Call of Duty 2 and Kameo or Oblivion at launch, and then buy PD0 and Kameo/Oblivion once they are used. This website is starting to change my buying ways. I still buy everything I want, but now I have patience to wait for the best deals.

Congrats on your 1,000 posts. Don't worry though, I have close to 6,000 at TXB. I need to stop wasting my free time on the computer. ;)

EDIT: After some quick math, I'd save about $13.75 on games that are $55 used, and around $11.50 on games that are $45 used. I don't know if it is worth waiting a few weeks to get a used game to save $16-$20. (I don't really like buying used)For now I will pick up my must-have games at launch with xbox 360 (Kameo, CoD2, PD0, Oblivion) and then pick up Saint's Row and/or GR3 once I see them used.

I haven't traded games in a long time unless they were recently picked-up XBOX preorders .(I sold my xbox),I only want XBOX 360 games now too. I sort of want to wait to trade, but I highly doubt GR will have a pre-launch sale on xbox 360 games. They will sell the games, so I don't see why they would make deals for the games

I am crossing my fingers that they will let me pick up Quake 4 to play on xbox 360 since I preordered it with the trade 2 get a game for $30 deal and at the time, the game was listed as an xbox game. I doubt they will let me, but it is worth hoping for.

Right now I've got Fire Emblem: PoR (GC) and Resident Evil 4 (PS2) on preorder at GR. Hopefully they get in FE the day after or two days after it is shipped, because it seems like a sleeper hit kind of game, even though they advertise it in their store. I'm going to trade in Def Jam: FFNY (got it for $5.04 at Target) and FF: CC (got it for $7.54 at Target) tomorrow for $18 store credit and then I'll use my $7.50 GC there and preorder BF2: MC for $4.50 + tax OOP. I LOVE GAMERUSH! :D I really hope they bring back the Trade 2 Games Get a New Game for $29.99 Deal. I would love to get Radiata Stories (PS2) and Battalion Wars (GC) for $30. After those three games and the two preorders, along with my recent purchases of RB6: Lockdown (PS2) for $24.99, PoP: WW (GC) for $7.54, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for $26.99 (PS1) I'm settled until November or maybe even Christmas. I feel content right now. :)

You're lucky that FF:CC seems to be one of the few GC games that they give more than 40 cents for (I was quoted $8-$10, for some reason they wouldn't tell me the exact number :D).

GR did not receive the Suffering 2 or Battalion Wars at least at my GR yet. They did get NBA Live 06 and Far Cry w/ the bonus.

Also to comment on xbox 360 system preorders. My GR manager said she won't allow anymore system preorders, because she said she got an email from corporate 2 days ago about not allowing anymore system preorders, even though this store only has like 4 or 5.

Yeah, I'm very lucky that I get $10 for FF and $8 for Def Jam: FFNY. That comes out to $18 credit for something I payed $13.33 for. It also helps that I can then preorder a game for $12-$7.50 gift card, then making it $4.50 + tax for a copy of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for PS2 a day or two after shipping date. I like the way that sounds. 8) Also, I might be preordering 25 to Life and The Warriors, but I'm waiting until maybe another review or preview comes out for either game because The Warriors might be compatible with the HD Loader... and 25 To Life might just plain suck, especially seeing as I have to get it for PS2 over the superior Xbox. :'(

I still have $70 left after Lockdown, PoP: WW, Persona 2, and a preorder for BF2: MC for PS2. What can I spend this on? It's burning a hole in my...dresser!! I don't want any PS2 games unless online, and I don't have Xbox. Recommend away. ;)

My PayPal account. ;)

I'm sort of looking into selling Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, complete and mint. I mean it's a really cool game, but I can't see myself spending enough time with it, to get REALLY into it, which is something I like to do with my RPG's...so make some offers people! :D I'm also sort of looking into Castlevania: DS and Battalion Wars (GC) but I'll most likely rent both... :/
