Restrictions and rules below:

- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

Preorder Lists (Dates are subject to change and when those changes happen up date us in the thread and I will try my best to update here in OP so people won't have to read through the thread to find them)- Credit to io for supplying these lists.

I'm gonna pre-order a few xbox 360 games, like oblivion and PD0.
Oh yeah, speaking of which, I don't recall if there was any official confirmation here, but I saw the little handwritten sign a the register today indicating you can preorder 360 games, just to second someone else's sighting.
I think all of those are except Socom and ESPN 2K5, but I could be wrong. Also, yes you can preorder more than one game at a time.
SOCOM should be good - trades for $3 last time I checked.

Which GR did you see this note at?

Picked up my copy of X-Men Legends 2 today. They were giving away free X-Men Legends 2 t-shirts to those who preordered it (it's black. I think there might be a white one as well. They also only have large size shirts). Ask if they have one for you!
Oh god if i can preorder 360 games for $30, or even $40, I'll die.
I doubt there will be any29.99 or 39.99 pre-order deals for the xbox 360 games. Don't get me wrong i would love to have it availiable cause then i would pre-order all the launch titles plus some, and i know that some CAG'ers have gotten the 29.99 deal on some titles but this is almost highly impossible now. Mind you that Blockbuster/ Game Rush OS (Operating System) is now 20 yrs old, yes we have had the same OS since we opened it 1985, and hasnt had many new updates or upgrades to it unless there is a new promotion we are selling. But , mainly when doing the pre-order the barcode for the deal has to be scanned and it will not go through because the deal is setup to exclude games listed in the system as accessories, or xbox 360 games (in system the category is definded as xbox2), or consoles or any other thing except for current generation consoles. And since it won't go through with the barcode that means the manager would have to overring the price down by $20.00 or whatever price the deal says it should be, because the CSR or Game Advisor's employee number doesnt have the "power" do use that credit option in the computer as of like 3 months ago. And any manager that did not know Xbox 360 games are not part of the 29.99 deal by now i would have to let go because i would not want that idiot working for me becuase they have told us like 10 million times by now that 360 games are excluded from the deals because they cost us so much money.

P.S.

the fact that games are listed in the system with a friday release date also means that you can preorder it for 29.99 on say a wednesday or something before that friday's release date even though the game may already be instock in our inventory and physically in the store. If an employee doesnt think it will work just tell him to try it and if it works it works, if it doesnt well you were going to buy it anyway. But it will work 10/10

Also, with the way the OS system works with the 29.99 barcode technically as long as you have traded the appropriate number of games in the past on your account in order to secure to preorder deal it will work even if you dont trade in any games that day. But this is extremely YMMV as you will probably to have to of befriended that particular employee for that person to risk doing something like that, but if they have a manager like me that just scans over amount of pre-orders done that day rather that looking at the history of the account they should be fine.

Crap... there was supposed to be a comic/poster bonus (at least according to EB and GS) and I didn't get nothin. I totally forgot to ask as I planned. Ah well.

No go on the xbox 360 at several stores here in Cincinnati, OH. Talked with a couple managers that didnt see any upcoming deals in the latest maps.

I'm sorry to do this for the people that have done a lot to help us out with this thread, but I'm really tight on time and I was going to head up to my ToysRUs and Gamestop today with the buy 2 get 1 free sale going on...what are the best green tag games and under 9.99 games to get for this trade in deal? They have to retail at 7.99 (I think), so what do they have to trade in at to get that much? Thanks again, and sorry that I couldn't browse through this to get the answer.

I think you'll get about $2 or $3 trade in for the games that just hit the 7.99 retail mark (the only game I've traded that didn't qualify retailed for $6.99 and got me $1.50). Off the top of my head at TRU, look for Medabots and Powerpuff Girls (GC), Galleon (XB), Nightmare of Druaga (PS2). Otherwise there are just a bunch of $5-$10 games that will get you $6-$12 on trade in. If you want to be safe, I would go for the $10 games, as those are a lot more likely to hit the retail limit, though they might not get you the same credit back. But the point of the deal is the extra $10 credit per game with the preorder. So you'll come out ahead either way.

Next time leave yourself ten minutes to browse ;) Which I hope you're also doing while waiting for my reply.

Thanks for the info, Nemesis35. Hope you don't get in trouble for providing us with this info like some other Gamerush/Blockbuster employees have in the past.

no prob, dont worry about me when it comes to blockbuster/game rush i pretty much have job security since i account for over 90 percent of sales at my location.

p.s.

and im the only closing manager at my location

Not that confirmation is needed, but I tried to use the $29.99 deal last night for Oblivion and Kameo when picking up X-Men. No dice. And yeah, I forgot to ask for any bonuses - so didn't get any.

Although, I did notice when picking up Nemesis at another store that the employees were all wearing black X-Men shirts. :?

Pre-order Spidey on the X-Men trip because I couldn't decide what else to preorder. MAT1 for PS2 still gets $8, Lockdown for Xbox gets $30.

Has anyone picked up Battalion Wars yet? Mine didn't have it as of yesterday (haven't dared call yet today). This is the longest they have not gotten something so far... Usually I get games on Weds, Thurs at the latest (when they come out on Tuesday).

Back to trade values:
Psp-Wipeout pure $22
Ps2-March Madness 2005 $8

Was able to preorder Call of Duty 2 for 360 for 29.99. As we all know, these preorders are ymmv. I keep trying though. This is my 2nd time getting lucky(for 360 games that is!) I also have Gun preordered as well.

The GR guy said an interesting thing to me during the transaction. He said, "are u sure we're still doing the preorder promotion? The computer is saying something is going to start on Nov. 1" He didn't elaborate anymore on it. Since there was signage up about the 29.99 deal he said it was no problem for giving me the deal. This is in So. Cal.

I guess it's still YMMV on the 360 games. I was hoping they reduced the prices on the 1st party games....oh well. I never get lucky at my GAmeRush

Still haven't received this or Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes. Checked again this afternoon, and they said it should be here Monday. First they told me Wednesday, then Friday, now Monday. If I see either at Best Buy I'll pick it up there, then when GR finally decides to get their copies in I'll return the GR copy to Best Buy.
After hearing all these horror stories, I'm gonna stick with EBGames or Gamestop to pre-order.
But if you don't mind waiting, the price is definitely right.

Yeah, $29.99 for a game, at the latest for me so far, a DAY after it has shipped is a killer deal. :D
After hearing all these horror stories, I'm gonna stick with EBGames or Gamestop to pre-order.
Well, we complain, but they really aren't "horror stories". I mean, can you preorder $50 games at EB or GS for $29.99? Didn't think so :D.

I don't mind that they get them late, I would just like one of 2 things:

1) Tell us when they will arrive (if it will be 5 days late, fine, just want to know without having to call every day).
2) Barring that, since they don't seem to know when things come in, then CALL people with preorders consistently and promptly. I've been called for about 2 of my 10+ games I've picked up so far. So I certainly can't rely on that.

Edit - OK, I called today about Battalion Wars. They got ONE copy in for rental. Still a few more on order for the preorders. Now THAT is kind of annoying :D.

YEah, I always get my pre-orders on either Tuesday or Wednesday....I know different stores have different dates. If you cannot wait until Friday of that week, that's just pretty pathetic. Oh well...go elsewhere, more deals for me :)

I'll check 360 games next week again too...I have to pick up Far Cry and return my MK rental.

Does anyone know what the Nov.1st trade-in deal will be? (as stated in a post above)

Yeah the "horror" of having to wait another 24 hours before getting your game, lol! Seriously, if its a choice between paying $50 at EB on release day or waiting an extra day or two for Gamerush to give you your $30 preordered copy, that's no choice at all. Who among us is really in a rush to get their titles on release day anyway? Thanks to Gamerush, as well as clearance sales, I have a huge backlog of games. I'm in the middle of Metroid Prime 2, just started Pirates on the Xbox, and I have Far Cry and Suffering 2 preordered at Gamerush next week. Aaaargh!

Well, I WAS hoping to play Battalion Wars this weekend, so I didn't need it on release date but thought for sure I'd get it by today. But I can just keep playing Radiata Stories instead. Or if I get bored with that I can open up that Psychonauts I got from GR, or that Burnout Legends, or Gran fucking Turismo 4, or Metroid Prime 2 (bought it in Dec, not at GR unfortunately, never played), or Katamari, or tons of other games...

The things I worry about with Gamerush are that they didn't order my game (especially for GC and DS titles), or that they will get it in late and then sell it to someone else, or simply never get their order (they claim to have 3 on order so I'm most worried about this last point). I finally gave up waiting for them to get Lego Star Wars for GBA (which they had on order for 3 months but never got) and bought it at EB. And if I lose track of my Battalion Wars and they get it in say, late, next week, and then sell it to someone else I'm out. Sure, I'll get my $30 back, but I'll have missed the cheap Fry's price in the mean time (and I still don't want to pay $35 after thinking I'd get it for $30 in GR credit) and will have to wait till it drops elsewhere. It seems GR never gets a second shipment of GC or DS games.

also, the thing is you want to get games promptly so that you can maximize trade-in value if they turn out not to be what you want (the only game i have had a problem getting from GR promptly in over 40 pre-orders is moto gp 3 but after waiting 3 weeks i decided to switch it to a more current game since i figured trade-in now is probably $15)

Well I called mine today and he told me that they got their RENTAL copies in, but none for sale. Now I pre-ordered this game about two months ago and they decide not to fullfill my pre-order. I am ticked off. If its not in by Monday evening I am going to call the DM.

This is exactly what happened to mine. They've obviously had some sort of distribution issue with this one - though you'd think if they can get the rental copy to the store they could get ours as well. I went into Fry's and they had Battalion Wars and Ultimate Spiderman. When I went into GR a few hours later they said they weren't allowed to put out Ultimate Spiderman till the 27th (implying that they had them). Strange...

Well first off what game is it? And also calling the District Manager is absolutely useless, i know it may seem like a good idea and with other companies it would be, but the reason why Game Rush doesnt get some titles even though you pre-ordered it is because of the corporate buyers( the people that are in charge of inventories for movies and games per location) are retarded, jk, but maybe. Seriously though these corporate buyers take all the info about the store into account such as demographic, and how financial well off people in the community may seem to be and run them into a system they call peer metrics. And depending on what they know about the game, how good they think the game will be, and how well it will do at their location based on that information determines whether or not they will buy it for the store. But all the DM is going to say is im sorry we wont be getting your game in stock, we can switch your pre-order for you to another game of your choice and maybe if you are lucky enough you will get a $5 gift card or maybe even $10. (Please dont get me wrong im not trying to sound sarcastic if it comes off that way when reading this, im just trying to let you in on the info i know about this company)

Also about the games

While i was working today an email stating that some retail games got a delayed delivery, (this may apply just to my location, which i cant reveal of course)

9/26 retail delivery date

Battalion Wars
Ultimate Spider-man

9/23

Kingdom Under Fire: heroes (i found this to be funny seeing as when i read this on the 23rd the game still hadnt come in) should be availiable the 24th or 26th though.

I agree it's not really a "horror" story to wait an extra few days to save $20, especially for cheap ass gamers like myself.

But the games I was thinking about pre-ordering are $35 DS games, so saving $5 may not be worth it since I want to play online with my friends as soon as possible. :)

Ultimate Spider-man
Well, we were talking about Battalion Wars. See, this would be fine - if they told me it would be delivered on the 26th and I could pick it up then - great. But I was in there late this evening, and they told me nothing like this. In fact, I've been calling every day since Tuesday and each time they simply say "maybe tomorrow".

I don't get your comment about the demographics effecting how many they order, etc. That makes sense for how many they order for the SHELVES - but wouldn't they ADD the preorders to that number? I know that at my store they said they have 3 more coming in (after the 1 rental), so I should be OK. But do they NOT specifically order the preorder copies (particularly if the preorders were done months in advance)? The reason the manager at my GR says they don't like to cancel preorders is that they will get "stuck" with the stock - like they specifically ordered one for me. Now what you say contradicts that...

Anyway, I don't really care as long as I get the damn game next week. Funny thing is I got Advance Wars DS much quicker than this. You'd think a fairly major console release would be handled better.

Anyone know what a GBA SP goes for? I saw that Nintendo just came out with a new SP with a brighter backlit screen. I want to get a new SP. Also, does gamerush carry the new SP?

That is also what they told me. I called Tuesday, and they said it will be there tomorrow. I call up on Wednesday, and I am told it will be in tomorrow. I call up on Thursday and they say they will definitly have it on Friday. Then I call Friday and they have rental copies in and no sale copies.

Like io said, I don't mind waiting an extra few days or even a week, but don't make me waste my time and theirs calling each day to ask if the game is out. Just tell us the truth about when they will get it out.

Pssst... Advance Wars: DS IS a major console release! *runs away*

As i look at what i typed yesterday it sounds kinda confusing or maybe i left parts out but picture it like this. It's like a distribution center these "buyers" purchase specific games based on how it will do based on that stores location to these DC's. Then if you preorder a copy of that particular game it comes to the store for you to pickup upon release.

Basically though these "buyers" are idiots they probably have no idea how everything should be done like say a EBgames or a Gamestop. They are getting paid the "big bucks" to make stupid decisions. For instance i pre-ordered a copy of PS2 - Urban Reign like 3 months ago and it recently released like 2 weeks ago and it doesnt appear to be coming in anytime soon, i havent seen any communication email's or anything about it even though i pre-ordered it and have so much interest in getting the game. But instead the "buyers" didnt purchase it because they dont think it would be a good fit based on my store's location. Times like this i would love to have the ability to special order games.

P.S.

Best advice i can give is just stick to the pre-order pages they have in the store included with our MAP those games are like 99% accurate on what games we will be getting in.

and as far as Nov. 1 deal i havent heard anything, i'll look in the Game Rush map tomorrow when i go in but i need some clarification when the employee said something about Nov. 1 and a possible deal was he looking at something in the computer or reading a paper of some sort. Because if it was the computer the only thing that will tell you is a release date for a game, no deals.

I think you are talking about the new gameboy micro from Nintendo. I was talking about the SP with a new lighting system. Its alot brighter than the current SP. Here is a pic:

I'm real late in getting to this thread and read the GR horror stories.

I have one of my own. It dealt with Day of Reckoning 2. Now I go way out of my way to go to Gamerush because their trade rates and deals blow everyone else away. Service? That's a different story.

I was told to pick up DoR2 on Sept 2 .. about a week after it's actual street date. Ok no biggie.
Well I get there oin the 3rd... and nothing. No game, no clue when it's coming in and EVERY retailer in the county has had the game fr a week.
I talk to the manager and I can't do SQUAT with my credit. I start getting pissed because they tell me to show up and pick up a game on a certain date and they can't deliver said product. Nor can they say WHEN they'll get it in.
This little douchebag starts sounding REALLY condescending towards me and it's all I can do to keep from grabbing him by the neck and dragging him across the counter. All he could say that the deal isn't transferrable, but in a situation like this where you can't even say you'll GET the damn game don't you think that would be an exception?

Basically what ended up happening is I stormed out a very pissed customer. I ended up showing back up a week later and cancelled my preorder for that game and took the credit to a different store.

At the very least they could have caled when the game DIDN'T come in and make their pre-order customers aware there was a problem.

This is so YMMV, I have had great service at one GR and crap at the other. If the Manager is a moron your SOL. I found out recently, the reason I got banned was because the manager at the one store didn't like me and had begged the DM to ban me. The funny thing is the reason this manager didn't like me was because she couldn't figure out how to do a presell the very first week her GR opened.

I have had quite a few games never show up, but they allow me to transfer them to another game. Lets face it, it's there screw up not yours. You could ask for the DM's number and give them a call. If nothing else they need to acknowledge they have a problem in their delivery mechanism. I heard that they have decided not to have GR exclusive employee's going forward, so I think BB is moving away from supporting games in any realistic way, and just becoming another average vendor. With bad customer service, what a bunch of DA's

Battalion Wars got panned? I beg to differ:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/cube/advancewarsunderfire

Some individual reviews:

An 8.8: http://cube.ign.com/articles/650/650932p1.html

An 8.3: http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/advancewarsunderfire/review.html

4 out of 5: http://cube.gamespy.com/gamecube/gamecube-wars/652346p1.html

Ok, just for balance, here's an outlier at 2.5/5, but I've never heard of this site:
http://nintendo.gamerfeed.com/gf/reviews/857/

Of course, I could offer my own opinion IF I ACTUALLY HAD the damn game :D.

The review I read was in Game Informer (GS's magazine), maybe the reviewer was not an RTS type of guy, he gave it 6 out 10.

Good luck getting the game, I'm waiting for Spiderman...

I didn't see the accompanying disclaimer, and "Shorter battery life" :)

Since when has GR started offering you pennies for current-gen games? Has anyone else encountered this?
