- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

Preorder Lists (Dates are subject to change and when those changes happen up date us in the thread and I will try my best to update here in OP so people won't have to read through the thread to find them)- Credit to io for supplying these lists.

Has anyone tried to use any of the following games for the pre-order deal?

Scaler(ps2)
Pinball Hall of fame(ps2)
Ribbit King(ps2)

Also...someone earlier (i think it was io) said that he pre-ordered DDR:Mario mix for gamecube. It's not on the master list on the OP. Is that available for preorder?

I'm sure it is. The list in the OP isn't very up to date. I'm going to drop by my BB tomorrow, so I can preorder BF2: MC. Yay! I'm still waiting on a used copy of Far Cry: Insincts though. And to those who have CV: DoS, is it worth it? I usually don't collect much, I mostly just beat the main game, but this game has me intrigued? Should I get that, or wait to use the rest of my credit to preorder Star Wars: Battlefront 2? I've also got FE: PoR and RE4 on preorder, :D And Socom 3 is great, just... 'different'.

Yep, it is. Preordered it a few weeks ago. For those still wondering, Mario Party 7 is also in the system.

Any other interesting DS game to preorder otehr than animal crossing? i'm not sure if I wanna pre order mario kart since I already have the GBA version and don't see much improvement (yet) over it... .. does GR has the mario and luigi the RPG game for preorder yet? i need to unload the last DTRII soon :)
Picked up my SOCOM 3 and SSX On Tour from GameRush at 11:30. Should be arriving across the country.
According to my gamerush SSX On Tour doesn't come out until the 21st :D Also Nightmare Before Christmas Game which I saw at Media Play two days ago isn't out either. :D

If it weren't for the deals...... ;)

I picked up L.A. Rush today also without my freebie. The mananger said they had another shipment due on Friday with Socom 3 and other video game related items, so I'm hoping it arrives with that shipment on Friday.
What does GGC stand for?
GGC=Gamer Gift Card. It's a Best Buy gift card that includes a coupon that takes $5 off a game. Some Best Buys have GGC that work on any game 19.99 & up, but others like mine carry GGC that only work on specific consoles and the game has to be 29.99 & up. They can be found in the game section and sometimes near the cash registers.

Yes, Mario & Luigi for DS is in the system. I will update my preorder lists with what I know is on there now. I haven't gotten a new list from my GR - they still have lists dated July and August sitting on their counters, which is where I got the lists in the OP from. I will update, clean, and repost those later tonight.

I can tell you what is NOT in the preorder system because I asked about all of these tonight:

DS
Final Fantasy (III)
Contact
Super Mario Bros.

PSP
Tales of Eternia
Suikoden I/II
Untold Legends 2

GC
Baten Kaitos 2

PS2
Suikoden V

If anyone finds out any of those titles have shown up please let us know ASAP!

I picked up SSX On Tour tonight (Weds).

Then I traded the following:

Xbox - Galleon: $19
GC - Medabots Infinity: $19

and preordered Viewtiful Joe DS, since none of the other things I checked on were available yet. One other game I am considering is the new Gauntlet for PS2. I know the Gauntlet games in the past have been pretty poor though, so I'm hesitant. Any input?

OK, here's an updated GC preorder list. Note that none of these lists are necessarily complete, they just include new things that I have found out about - I don't have a master list or anything :D.

Now that's just plain funny.

Looks like for now I'll have to choose between Spartan and King Kong for my next GC preorder. I'll check if GUN for GC is in the system next time I'm there. Hopefully something else will pop up that I can put on my "definitely want" list before mid-November.
I swear the freebie was listed in the preorder book.
I called my GR again yesterday and they got LA Rush in. I asked about MAT3 and they said that they are supposed to be free but they haven't got them in. I'd say check with your local GR on this.

EDIT: Wait there's a book that lists the freebies? Is this shown to customers?
I picked up SSX On Tour tonight (Weds).

Apparently most of the work was done by John Romero (cofounder of id), but he left Midway midway through the project. Supposed to have a more complicated attack combo system then previous gauntlet games. And tougher enemies? Anyways, graphics look good.

A good stat for DS games are if any of the games are $40. I asked about them a while back, but I can't remember which games were $40. Several were $35..

I have had this preordered for several months (xbox). I am not so sure about it any more, after Romero (Doom, Quake) and J.E. Sawyer (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale) left in July, the release date has been slowly pushed back from late September to mid-December (not uncommon, but makes one wonder). If the game was far enough along when they left, I expect it to be great. If, on the otherhand, much work had to be done after they left, then I would be a little worried. I will wait until reviews to come out before I pick up my copy.
No love for XBOX on the pre-orders? Thanks for the lists though
Yeah, sorry, I don't have anything on Xbox newer than the list I posted back in July/August. Since I don't have an Xbox I don't ask about those games - maybe someone else can update that list with newer preorders.

Thanks for the info on Gauntlet h2dk - hey, maybe you can update the Xbox list since you are probably responsible for most of the Xbox preorders at our GR :D.
A good stat for DS games are if any of the games are $40. I asked about them a while back, but I can't remember which games were $40. Several were $35..
Yeah, Viewtiful Joe was $40. Animal Crossing and Mario Kart WERE $40 when I preordered them but now they seem to be $35, at EB anyway, so that is most likely what they will be at GR when they come out.

OK, here's some more:

$40 games:
Black & White Creatures (not listed at EB)
Viewtiful Joe (wow - actually $40 at EB)
Sonic Rush ($35 at EB)
Metroid Prime Hunters ($35 at EB)
Animal Crossing ($35 at EB)
Mario Kart ($35 at EB)

$35 games:
Metroid Pinball
Mario & Luigi

I just think by default they list them at $40, and then when they get closer to release they tend to drop down to $35. So, really, Viewtiful Joe is the one to get if you want to use the preorder deal (and maybe B&W).

I haven't seen an official list in a long time at my Gamerush, but here are some exclusive xbox titles I've seen in the system:

Stubbs the Zombie - this comes out next week so if you want to use the deal you better get to it quickly
Half-Life 2 - November
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness - November (also a PS2 title but I didn't see it on io's list)
Painkiller - November (this game is 39.99)

Most of the xbox titles in the coming months will be consisting of multi-platform (MS obviously has their attention focused on the 360) so just refer to io's ps2 list for most xbox titles.

I have a question for all you GR shoppers/users out there.

How is your gamerush on switching preorders to other xbox/gamecube/ps2 titles?

Do they let you switch preorders without paying an extra $20?

How bout returning an unopened game for credit? is it 29.99 or 49.99 for game ordered using the trade in deal?

Are there any specific terms that each store has to adhere to or is it a store by store basis?

Thanks for any responses :)

My GR store switches preorders anytime you want, but I heard that's YMMV. Most stores, (about 95%) will only let you return your game for $29.99. At least at my, and a LOT of other people's stores I know do that. :D

just trade in my last copy of DTRII still $27.. and surprise for me was the Looney toon GBA that i got from EA glitch for $3 or something like that, actually fetch $11 at GR... so not bad..

Does anyone know if Gamerush will be getting in Guitar Hero? I know I probably wouldn't be able to use this deal for it, but I would like to use my trade-in credit towards it.

I think I may trade in Far Cry tomorrow. Probably pre-order The Warriors. Seems like a fun beat-em-up. I'm sure I'll finish it and trade it back in. I was thinking about pre-ordering STUBBS also, but I'm unsure about the game.

To answer above questions: GameRush is pretty good in letting you switch pre-orders. I never tried to retun an unopened game, so I don't know.

You should get Stubbs over The Warriors, I have heard great things about Stubbs, but Warriors looks like it might not be that good. But I am still thinking about getting The Warriors just because I want a Fight Fight-esque game.

Also, if you keep the reciept you can take it back, or you can take it to another GR and return it there for the credit.

How long do you have to return something.....do they just give you $30?

Guess the GR near are just really strict. Returning unopened games only yeilds back the $29.99 plus tax. Switching preorders is also near impossible, they will only put 29.99 plus tax down on switch... IMO that is just evil, especially considering you can preorder ANY game with the deal, why the hell can't you just switch titles (I was under the impression you could)!

Anyone have the fine print on this deal or anything else I could bring up if they try and not let me switch preorders??

Thanks for the help.

Doubledown, about what time and what GR will you be trading Far Cry: Instincts at? I think I remember seeing that you're from MI, so I would love to buy your copy for $33.75 used from GR after the 25% off deal. Thanks. :D

Have you tried just returning your game to any old BB, I think you can. I've cetainly returned games to other GR's, and got the full refund.

Yes, the only issue, as I recall, is that they need to look it up as you typed it - "DDR Mario Mix" (as opposed to Mario DDR or something). I preordered it in early September. Now, I suppose it is possible that they realized that this was an accessory game and thus pulled it from the promo as they did with the Donkey Konga games, which just wouldn't ring up with the deal (some people, not me, were lucky enough to get managers to override on that one).

I don't see how it makes a difference when it is a $50 game like all the others. I can't imagine Nintendo (or whoever) charges them more for that game than other $50 games. But they seem to have a thing about not allowing accessory games with the $29.99 deal.

It sounds like he got an extra 25% on the games.

So any conformation this deal ends at the end of October?

How about if theyll change the deal to buy any new game for $30 trade in 2?

*shrug* I thought those prices seemed really odd. I was pretty sure that God of War got $27 (25% extra on that is what I got, $33.75).

A guy wearing a General Manager's badge helped me at the store so who was I to complain? :)

Arrhh - why didn't I think of that? It could be because when I tested the 25% right after it supposedly ended the guy at my GR tried to do it but the computer wouldn't let him, so he said it must, indeed, be over. I figured that was system-wide (I ignored the few reports of bonuses happening after that - didn't want to think I was missing it :D). How are they still doing this? Not to mention why? :D

Anyway, to answer the other question, as far as I know the deal does end Oct 31st. We have no confirmation as to what replaces it. We've lost all of our inside sources... It's no use asking at my GR either, because I usually know about the deals (from here) before they do. All they could tell me was the current deal ends Oct 31st, or at least that's what their barcode says.

I see alot of this: Selective Gamerush policies at various stores.

I go to one GR and the game manager is suuper cool. a gamer like all of us. well, they'll let me switch pre-orders but not get the whole $50 credit when cancelling or returned some game you preordered or recieved.

Two cities over, this other GR gives me full credit for returned/received preorders.

Try to get to know your GR. There are good people that work at a couple of them soo, search for the one that fits the occassion.

Additionally.........I JUST READ THAT THEY'RE STILL GIVING $20 FOR GALEON!!! OMG! THE NEW DRAKE!

Good luck all CAG's! Lets keep this industry alive!

Peace.
