Just to confirm what someone mentioned before in a previous thread, Gamestop is having a B2G1 sale on Xbox games. Might be starting to try and clear them all out? Who knows. Not sure if this is a local YMMV or not, so check for yourself.

Hate to burst your bubbles, guys, but I'm pretty sure you can't stack offers/coupons, meaning you can't use the 20% coupon with this deal. That is ALWAYS the case with Gamestop. If you have a coupon it won't work with an offer and vice versa.

Edge stacks with everything, though.

I only wonder when Ebgames will get serious about getting rid of the old gen systems like Xbox1. I would not mind having an old xbox 1 for the bedroom since I still play/have some xbox 1 games on 360 and mod it to stream xvid/divx to my bedroom as well. But I just don't see an xbox 1 being worth any more than 20$.

Just got back from the local gamestop and the 20% off coupon would not work along with the buy 2 get 1 free. It worked out kind of funny that the coupons would have saved me 4.98 while the B2G1 free saved $5, so I went with that.

You cant combine 2 promos at the same time.

I've been calculating too though, and I realized some of the games I would pick up would be cheaper to use the 20% + edge instead of the B2G1 + edge.
What's the verdict on Gamestop's prices? I don't have an Edge card and would like to buy 10-15 Xbox games to start my Xbox 1 collection. With the B2G1 sale, are the prices better than you can get on Ebay or Goozex?
It depends upon what you're looking for. Personally, I would do the following...

(1) Make a list of every XBox game you want to purchase.
(2) Separate the list into BC games and Non-BC games (in case you only have a 360).
(3) Make three or four separate columns next to each game. Label these eBay, Goozex, Amazon, and EB/GS.
(4) Find the best price for each title through each of the four stores, keeping in mind that all but EB/GS can potentially fluctuate slightly over the course of a day.
(5) Use the search function on EB/GS's site to see if the titles you want are available locally. Mark down which can be found where.
(6) Compare all prices, find the deals that are worthwhile, keep in mind that you can use the 20% off (plus 10% Edge if you have it) to knock down the price or the B2G1 free in your calculations. If you luck out, maybe a cashier will let you get both. ;)
(7) Buy!

Now, be sure to convert Goozex points and whatnot into dollar values for your comparison, just to make things slightly easier. This is a long process, of course, but if you do this you're more than likely going to spend the least amount of gas in order to get the most games out of your money.

Also, don't be afraid to look at every price tag of games you are interested in when you're in EB/GS. You never know if you will find one that has been relabeled or carried an older (and lower) price. It's rare but you just never know.

Excellent formula!!!

As far as Goozex is concerned, I would add that you need to check the stats on any said game to see it status. some games move very slowly.

im really get the shaft on this deal. i went to one GS found a handful of games i wanted but they didnt have like 2 discs so it threw off my whole b2g1 set up. went to another GS and they didnt have anything so i just gut a couple games with the 30% off. I grabbed the jet set/sega gt double pack for a dollar, but guess what? they guy gave me a sega gt disc instead of the disc with 2 games on it.
Used only.
Does anybody's GameStop still sell NEW Xbox games? I thought they were all converted to used a while back...technically making the deal good on both, haha.

I remember a while back, a few months ago to be more exact, I saw one of those Tetris/Star Wars double packs locked up in the case sealed. Of course, Im not if its still there, but somewhat supprising to see one after all this time.

Since I really try to use Goozex more for games that I can get and trade back out (sorta like a rental system?), I wasn't really interested in spending all my trade credits and points on Xbox games when this promotion is already going on and I got so much credit from that BB -> GS fiasco.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - $8.99
Mega Man Anniversary Collection - $8.99
Star Wars Battlefront - $0.00
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - $3.59
Breakdown - $3.59
Mech Assault - $0.00

So it came out to about $27... about the credit I could get after trading in two $14.99 games from Blockbuster to Gamestop. I don't really have much trouble spending $15 for six great games. :)

I scored a MASSIVE deal on X-box games today...Buy 2 get 1 + Edge card got me this:

Syberia
Jade Empire
Thief: Deadly Shadows
SSX - On Tour
Time Splitters 2
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Colin Mcrae Rally 04
Crimson Sea
Dead or Alive Ultimate
Metal Arms Glitch in the System
Amped: Freestyle
Amped 2
Phantom Crash
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath
Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey
Ninja Gaiden
Project Gotham Racing
Project Gotham Racing 2
Quantum Redshift
Rallisport Challenge
Rallisport Challenge 2
SegaGT / Jet Set Radio Future
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
Second Sight
Otogi: Myth of Demons
Midtown Madness 3
TOCA 3
Flatout
Flatout 2

Total = $120.00 or $3.75 per game (all of these rated 85% or higher on Gamerankings).

I also scored an Xbox system with XIII, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Crimson Skies for $50 shipped on Ebay.

It really pays to stay a generation behind ;)

Jesus are you going to play all those games? I decided to only pick up games rarely till I beat a few more of the ones I have. Although it was hard not to get any xbox games when I traded in yesterday :(

Oh yeah, I'll play them eventually. ;)

I have a similar number of highly rated PS2 and Gamecube games in my backlog right now. It's going to take a good 3-4 years for me to play them all. By the time I'm finished, I'll be able to pick up a PS3 or 360 system for $99 brand new, along with a few dozen games for $5 each. Staying a generation behind is the only way to go.

:)

Take this for what it's worth, rumor worthy. I asked the GS employee about how long this sale is going to last and he said for awhile, he also said that it will change to a B2G2 until they sell out of the Xbox games. So get them while you can. 18 games today for $90. Enjoy everyone.
Here're some good ones to pick up that are BC if anyone cares:

Ninja Gaiden Black
Call of Cthulu
Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Psychonauts
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (severe graphical corruption and slowdown, but hopefully they'll fix it... right now, only for collecting purposes)
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 and 2
Conker: Live and Reloaded
Fatal Frame 1 and 2
Futurama
Jade Empire: Limited Edition
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
The Bard's Tale
Dreamfall: the Longest Journey
Morrowind
Capcom vs SNK 2
Brute Force
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Bloodrayne 2
Indigo Prophecy
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (I don't have it, but I've played it. Pretty fun)
Silent Hill 2 and 4
Unreal Championship 2
.
Capcom vs SNK 2 isn't BC.

Picked up:

The Thing
Midway Treasures 2
Outrun 2

All for about 9 bucks out the door

My GS had Airforce Delta Storm, Stubbs the Zombie, and a couple of other semi-rares, but I know that I'd never play them.

I agree, and wish I could get myself to do this more. I've been having a blast catching up on all the PS2 games I missed, and part of me wishes I didn't bother with the 360 or Wii, as it's just too damn expensive when you want to stay current.

Ya know, if the b2g1 free stacks with the 20% coupon like some people claimed, then the difference is pretty much negligible from a b2g2 free. It's a matter of change, really.

Stack that knowledge with the knowledge that someone say the B2G2 free is coming back and... wait what was the expiration on that 20% coupon? heh

I called several stores and nobody working thinks there will be a B2G2 deal on games. If there is, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens after their good stuff has already been cleared out of inventory.

That can easily be solved...If you can't find three you want at a single location, buy the ones you DO want, then do a return/rebuy at the other location so you can get the free one. As long as you have a receipt, you can return used games night and day at any Gamestop in the country.

Yeah, that's typically how it works. Then stock will be shipped to stores that can move volume, so you can either get some massive, great deals in the system's final hours at retail or you can get nothing.

It all depends upon where you live. If you have a dozen EB/GS locations nearby you can usually luck out in terms of restocking and deals since a number of good titles still survive (albeit in smaller numbers).

Personally, now is the time where if you find something you think won't last you should pick it up with the best deal you can muster, doubly so if the thing is complete. While it doesn't always happen, there are times where waiting for that extra 10% off or to get an extra free title ends up with missing out on some great stuff beforehand.

Then again, it's CAG. Play it by ear, use friends on the board to help you find stuff, be big on trading. That'll help. ;)
Is Fatal Frame rare? There are two of them at my local Gamestop. Man I really wish I had some money.
It's usually a title you don't see often nowadays, especially used. Some came back into circulation through GQD several months ago with a reprint, if I recall correctly, but otherwise it's usually not something easily found.

However, it all depends upon whether you really want it or not. One of the important aspects of being a CAG, at least to me, is to save money whenever possible. Given that we typically have less free time as we get older, you don't really have to scrounge together money to buy an uncommon or rare game if it isn't going to be up your alley or if you have a huge backlog. ;)

That was Fatal Frame 3 for the PS2. Fatal frame 1 for xbox is pretty rare to find complete and in good condition, and it's also an awesome game. I would definitely pick one up.

God Freaking Dammit - I went past 2 Gamestops today out of my local area (which is dry of any good games) and didn't know about this sale. Serves me right for being a lazy CAG, I guess.

Fatal Frame for Xbox is not rare. It generally sells for 20 and no more.
Fatal Frame 1,3 for Ps2 is.... It generally sells for 30-40

Original XBox systems only go for about $50, but in the long run I was hoping for better backwards computability from Microsoft's end. Hopefully they "suprise" us with another update this year or next considering they have 51% of their titles backwards, even though a lot of those titles are sports games and junk. Only 62% of my large XBox collection is backwards, and I've considered selling my XBox and old games just because of Microsoft's inability to keep working on BC, that is if it weren't for a few games.

I'd keep my original XBox for the following games since they aren't backwards yet:
Burnout Revenge (I refuse to buy the 360 version since I pretty much finished this one and the upgrades are minor)
CVS2 and SNK Fighting Games
Kingdom Under Fire Heroes (Yet the first one is backwards)
MVP Baseball 2005 (It boggles my mind as to why all other MVPs are backwards and not this one)
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath (Worth buying a OG XBox alone for)
Otogi 1+2
POP Warrior Within
Timesplitters

Of course, the grand daddy that will never be BC due to controller computability: Steel Battalion.

Anyways depending on what your looking for you might be better suited with eBay. Gamestop hasn't marked the old XBox titles low enough considering I got only a few dollars for some XBox titles on eBay. I would grab Fatal Frame 1+2 if you see them, otherwise don't kill yourself over this sale.

I picked up a Fatal Frame back when the coupon was out, but I have yet to get past the first cutscene, after it popped up, the game went right back into its case. >_< I'll play it again....someday >_>
picked up Tao Feng, True Crime Streets of LA, and NARC for a grand total of $5.70 after promo + EDGE
They should've paid you $5 to play Tao Feng.

Well, the Xbox versions are superior in the graphics department for both FF1 and FF2. As for FF3, while it only released on the PS2 and *yes* is rare -- it did go through a reprint through GQD.

Saw Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Xbox) without manual twice on two different GS stores but decided to pass on it. Not worth $42 if it's incomplete.
They should've paid you $5 to play Tao Feng.
hahaha, thats the same thing my friend told me. I remembered playing the demo back in the day and didn't think it was that bad of a game. I figured for $1.90 it was worth the risk

I am so bitter, I went out picked up a few games Ootogi (Sp), Obscure, and Jade Empire since I thought they were BC. I passed on a mint Stubbs and I can't drive back out to the store I bought them from.

Looks like I have to go find another copy of something....

I think by next summer, Xbox will be on it's way out. The stores seem so cluttered now since everyone is trading in all their Wii, PS3, 360, DS games along with all the PS2, GC, Xbox games. Looking at the prices of the Xbox games, they all seem to be under $9.99 and you get practically nothing for trading them in. It's definitely on it's way out so I'm guessing either a Buy 2 Get 2 with an eventual Buy 2 Get 4 Free or 75% the entire lot. (They did one for the N64, PS1 games and the other for DVDs) You'll know when the time is coming when they stop taking them first.

XBox is definitely winding down. They're just trying to get rid of their inventory at this point. Gamestop.com doesn't even have a tab devoted to the XBox anymore in the header.
