Deal in title starts tomorrow. Not sure if it's all stores, but but the manager at the one by me said it should stack with edge- he also let me hold about a dozen dvds (ATHF box sets will be like $3 after all discounts) Happy Hunting-
For what it's worth, as I've been buying GB/GBC games, several stores pointed out they're glad somebody's buying them because they stopped taking trade-ins in the spring and just want to get rid of them.
And as I've bounced around stores, I've learned to dislike that counter case they keep GBA/GB games in. I can't see the back rows and I feel like a dope describing what games I want. "Ok, second shelf. Third row from me. Fourth from your left. No, the one next to it. ..."
I think it was a mistake on their part. I have a hard time believing they intentionally priced Blu Ray movies 85% off that is crazy.
I was thinking GS is looking to drop used movies altogether, but if they're still taking trade-ins like others have said, then, well, WTF are they thinking. $17.99 marked down to $2.70? I'm in.
I've gone a little nuts with the GB/GBC sale and have been in probably 15-20 Gamestops in the past week, and just one had regular DVDs for sale (oddly the first one I went to). That store also was the only one I saw that had signage stating "75% off used DVDs, HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray." So if it's a mistake, it made it as far as printing up signs for that mistake.
Whatever the case, I've been buying up Blu-Rays like crazy. This is the type of deal I was hoping for (but never found) when HD-DVD died.
gamestop is trying to get out of movies completely. my guess is sooner or later they will stop taking in movies and selling movies and that will be a moviestop only thing.
the bluray and hd part are not accidents, they just want them gone.
I agree, this sale is making me go nuts. I'm burning so much gas and wasting so much time in hopes of finding massive Blu lots. I've found about 20 so far, and it cost me like 30 dollars. I'm freaking addicted. There are still a few locations I haven't hit up yet, but when they're done I will have seriously gone to at least 20 GS, possibly every single one in a 100 mile radius lol
I've racked up about 27 blus so far, 4 more stores to hit. Will post a final tally when I'm back later but this deal has been amazing...considering I had so much cheap credit from the Hollywood deal.
While I was out getting a few last blu rays and b2g1 pickups, I saw a gameboy color system in the case. Bought it for 2.5x best price I've ever seen on a system
just got back from my gs, not as much as i expected alot of duplicates, but snagged these:
Legend Of Zelda Oracle Of Seasons x3-6.25
Legend Of Zelda Oracle Of Ages x1-2.50
Legend Of Zelda Link's Awakening DX x1-1.25
Damn, those are good ones. Best ones I've gotten were Pokemon Crystal and Zelda LA DX.
Hit up 6 more stores within 25 miles of me. Got Clockwork Orange on blu ray and Turok 3. I think this area is cleaned out.
Just to clarify, Alpharetta, Woodstock, Kennessaw, and Atlanta georgia gamestops are CLEANED OUT. Maybe I can save someone gasoline and time?

Edit- Just looked at the store availability things are looking good... hopefully it goes well next weekend

Is that why everywhere I went in Ann Arbor this weekend was almost desolate?

Na, I've been in Boston and DC for thanksgiving, but thanks for the heads up I was gonna check the Ann Arbor stores tomorrow...guess it wouldn't have been worth it.

Consider me jealous. I've been everywhere and the only Zelda game I found was the original Link for GB. I tried store locator but every store that comes up says "We stopped selling Gameboy games months ago." Must've never purged their inventory for Web site purposes.

I meant the Hollywoods. I only managed to get to the Ellsworth GS while there. Everyone was sick Friday, either something bad at dinner or we all picked up a bug.
I went to another GameStop today before work. I completely forgot that they had sold DVDs, so they had signage and were mostly picked through as a result, although I did find the Die Hard collection (first three movies), the Pokemon movie, and 24 Season 2 amongst a couple of others. Then I asked about GB/C games.
They handed me a list and told me to tell them what I wanted.
$100 later, I had a shoebox full of games (still typing up the list!) and they gave me a bunch of Mirror's Edge bags as thanks for helping them clear out their inventory.
I also grabbed 6 Wii Sports at 2 different GS's =D
They handed me a list and told me to tell them what I wanted.
I got the list treatment today too. I got excited to finally find Dragon Warrior III, but sure enough, all the crap I bought works, but one of the few games I really wanted doesn't play.

I cant believe that stores still have those, and the fact they gave them away for clearing inventroy. Must have some connections? Lucky lucky, congrats!

Nope -- just luck and asking nicely (at every store I've been to). Its a big store, but I think its relatively low-volume because there's a mall with three stores just a few miles in one direction, and another store in every direction just a few miles away.
And I'm sure that renewing my Edge since it expired yesterday didn't hurt, either.
Is the deal valid for new bluray too?
no doesn't work. i had a few new BD's scanned and it rang up full price. weird, cuz they threw the new BD's in the bin that said 75% off movies. sucks.

in all my searching, i have run into about 10 movies that are "new" but the case is open, and the disc is no different than those used but since it is new in the system they cant \ wont do anything about it. i did run into one store that actually had 2 sealed ones in a drawer and when i didnt want them they threw them back in it.
I tried to off the rest of the unwanted loot today. CD Warehouse didn't want the shitty films on Blu Ray that I got (some Ice cube film, prom night, other pieces of crap), and FYE had a problem with 1 disc having what could possibly be the most hairline scratch I've ever seen on digital media (and of course the middle aged guy felt all important and powerful by telling me that he wouldn't take them). FYE didn't want the other crappy movies either.
Last try was a pawn shop near me. The ing idiot owned gave me a ridiculous $10 per Blu. I was shocked.
Payed about 30-40 in Blu at gamestop, got around $130 in cash back via trades/selling. Very thrilled about this
Are you saying that Torrance is ghetto? s Maybe LB but I don't think Torrance is ghetto. Maybe I'm reading your post wrong.
Anyways, all I managed to find was Kiss of the Dragon BR and Are We Done Yet? BR. Both of the GS in Torrance that I checked didn't have anything good. I wasn't able to check one because they closed at 8pm.
Nah I meant the Long Beach stores and the stores where most of the Gameboy/GBC games were popping up as being in stock - mainly Watts, South Central, East LA, Wilmington, Long Beach...it seems like the ones in LA that are the dump stores are stores in the ghetto.
Torrance is cool, for the most part. Now Lawndale, ugh ...hahaha!!!
any dvds traded in starting tomorrow in my district is NOT ALLOWED to be sold they have to ship it to the wherehouse, so im making one last run for anything at all that i want. every store i called knew me and let me know very nicely that they receved and email today.

So are they shipping ALL of their DVDs to the warehouse? Or only the ones they get traded in starting tomorrow?
All Gameboy games have been hoarded in my area. I couldn't get jack **** unfortunately. The only one I know of that had em was a place about 40 minutes away from me.
i would say soon as i posted the 2 districts around me got the same email stating that they are no longer allowed to sell trades starting today. the stock they have is probably still up for grabs till the end of the week but i wouldnt waste time.
Cool, thanks Animal. I'm hitting one more store today on the hopes its GB/GBC selection hasn't been raided, and will check for any remotely decent DVDs (crossing fingers for more Transformers/GIJoe seasons, as well as some other seasons)...haven't found anything really decent in the way of BluRays.
The one game I really want, Dragon Warrior 3, is 50 some odd miles away. DOOOOOH!!!
happen to find any extra transformer seasons?
Nah, I wish! Most of the Gamestops by me have crap as far as DVDs goes. Some of the boxed sets do come up in searches on the site at stores "near me" but pretty far out of the way. Thankfully I completed the Transformers seasons as they came out. I'm only missing GI Joe Season 2 part 1 as far as those goes.
I just got back from the second Long Beach GB/GBC dump store, holy crap they had more than I've ever seen...at least 200 games. We need to start a trade thread - I'm still mainly looking for Dragon Warrior 3, Megaman Xtreme 2, and Bubble Bobble. I will update my trade list with my dupes, PM offers, etc.
But I ended up getting 33 games for...$32.48!!! I left a lot of dupes behind, including 3 or 4 copies of Zelda Oracle of Ages...basically I picked out the best copies of various games. I got a few kiddy/Disney games for my daughter, hopefully they will be decent. But for a couple of quarters here and there, LOL I'll take the chance!
I got:
Pokemon Pinball $.45
Worms Armageddon $.75
Kirby's Dream Land 1 $.75
Kirby's Dream Land 2 $1.50
Double Dragon $1.50
Megaman Xtreme $1.50
1942 $.45
Lion King: Simba's Adventure $1.50 x2 (DOH! Didn't mean to get 2)
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe $1.50
Harvest Moon $.90 x2
Sword of Hope $.45
Dragon's Lair $.90
Star Trek 25th Anniversary $.45
Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge $.75
Metal Walker: $.75
Tetris Attack $.75
Super Breakout $.45
Super Mario Land $1.50
Krusty's Fun House $.75
Simpson's Treehouse of Horror $1.50
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages $1.50
R-Type DX $.45
Super Return of the Jedi $.75
Heianko Alien $.45
Bonk's Adventure $.75
Hercules $.45
Contra: Alien Wars $1.50
Duck Tales $.45
Game & Watch Gallery $.30
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker $1.50
Castlevania Adventure $.45
33 games, came out to $30 exactly, with tax $32.48. Unreal. The original total was $214 something, LOL.
It looks like I will be adding the following to my trade list:
Kirby's Dream Land 1
Double Dragon
Megaman Xtreme
Lion King: Simba's Adventure
Harvest Moon
Super Mario Land
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages x2
Game & Watch Gallery x2
Castlevania Adventure
Lufia: The Legend Returns
TMNT 3
The mystery of what happened with all the dvds and blu-ray movies has been solved in my area... all were sent to the local moviestop, which I kinda thought was what happened, but I had it confirmed... damn... seeing some of the blu-ray discs people have scored on here for next to nothing leaves me very jealous... I only scored a copy of The Lookout and SWAT... whoopie...
I've been to a ridiculous number of Gamestops in the past week hunting GB/GBC games, and have still only found one that had DVDs. The ones that had Blu-Rays dried up quickly -- I haven't seen any since Saturday when I got Tropic of Thunder (pretty random I thought since it was a new release and only priced at $14.99).
Tonight, I was lucky enough to pick up 23 movies on HD formats. The eleven I'll be adding to my collection include:
HD-DVD:
Payback
Tomb Raider
Seabiscuit
Jet Li's Fearless
The Rundown
Forbidden Planet
How The Grinch Stole Chirstmas
BD:
Meet the Robinsons
The Prestige
The Fountain
Tradables includes both Transformers and TMNT on HD (I've got both on BD), and I grabbed extra HD's of Animal House, Caddyshack, T3, and BD's of Superman, Devil's Rejects, and another Spiderman 3 (Can't resist for a buck fiddy).
I also have a few more huge bags of GB/C games, but a list of those will have to wait until after papers are turned in.
^^ Watched The Prestige on the Blu that I got from GS last week. Awesome movie
@karkyco: If you call them and ask nicely for them to ship it to a local store for you, they just might. The last GS I was at was willing to do that with a few.

went to a gamestop that didn't carry any movies, but they did have bunch of used blu-rays along with PS3 games. so check there.

Cool, I can definitely give that a try. But around here, the employees tend to be hustlers, so if you call about stuff like that, they will go and look up real-world values and usually end up keeping good loot for themselves. I will do it in this case, though, because I have nothing to lose. And if I can get some extra Transformers boxed sets I would much rather trade them here for someone that really wants them and will enjoy them, than let them fall into the hands of some ebay reseller only out for profit.
That's why I didn't even call the GB/GBC dump stores to see if they still had certain games or a large selection in stock. I don't want them getting wise to the treasure they have...in LA everybody is hustling and out to make a buck...way too much competition already.
Only found 1 local store so far today which carries DVDs. They had like a dozen blu-rays sitting on the shelf  My best take was a copy of the 2 disc Platinum edition Sleeping Beauty 50th Anniversary for $2.70 .
I was also able to get:
three copies of Spiderman 3
one Resident Evil: Extinction
one The Lookout
one Mr. Brooks
and one Bridge to Terabithia
All of them were in amazingly mint condition. Picked up all 8 blu-rays for approximately $18. Oh, and I also scored the complete series of Firefly for $4.50 (also in excellent condition). We've got a few more stores to check tonight!
Pokemon Crystal has a bad battery or bad internal clock or both. The game does not save and I cannot see the time.
The same thing will probably happen to Silver within a year. Neither of the Pokemon Blue copies I bought will save, so it's a little annoying. Although I did buy them mostly to goof around with and do speedruns, so it's not the end of the world if I can't save.
I actually enjoy opening up consoles to repair minor issues. I had to open a Sega CD to replace the battery, and that was an epic headache. The damn thing wasn't just soldered in there, but pretty much welded. Replacing a battery in a cartridge shouldn't be too bad, and it will give it a brand new life.
Yeah, the GS in downtown Madison, WI has been cleaned out for awhile but they must have found something because when I was in there today, I found a Pokemon Red and Blue for 2.99 apiece. Little beat up on the label but after buying the pair for $ 0.90 in store credit, I discovered they both save so bonus!
I totally lucked out yesterday finding a copy of Lufia at a store that's pretty far out of my way. I had totally forgotten about it, but I was in the area so I checked. That was one of the five games that I really really wanted. Now to find a copy of Crystalis and Super Mario Land 2. There's one store near my parents' home that looks like it has a TON of gameboy games, so maybe I'll be able to hit it up around Christmas if no one beats me to it.
