I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the EDGE card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

$135. $80 base on the console + $25 hardware bonus + $30 for the HD. I just traded mine in today :) If you have Edge you can get $3 more on the HD.

LOL 90%, 1st run 360's were 70%, OMG it's higher than the RROD box.

Here's a real statistic, 100% of your figures are pulled right out of your arse.

Me and my buddies are still rocking our uber BC 60s, there's your 90%, what a joke.
Does anyone know if Gamestop gives you credit for guitar controllers? I have one that came with the GH III Wii edition.
Nope. They don't take any type of guitar anymore.
They won't check the speakers, so as far as they know, it's not defective. :D Also, they charge like $10 for the charger, so if you don't have it, they take $10 off of the trade in price.

Also, some more base TIVs.

Midnight Club: LA (PS3) - $7.75
Condemned (360) - $1.50
Battlefield 2 (360) - $2.50

After promos and EDGE, it came out to $22.93.
Battlefield 2 at amazon gets over 30 dollars alone. Why do people go to gamestop?

Traded in my 360 today with 120gb hdd for a total of $138.00 credit. Hopefully they get the new 360 systems this week, so I can put it towards that.

They should have them tommorow, i was talking to a manager earlier and she said they'd have em at opening in my area.

Ok, so I need some help. I have an old Xbox 360 Pro (so non-HDMI version). It got one red ring when it was under warranty so it has been "repaired" once.

Anyway, basically it is in fine working order at the moment, but if my friends console is any indication, I think that someday it may fail again, and I figure I might as well jump on things early now that this new Xbox360 slim is announced and get some money for it while it's still working.

So here's my question, would it be more profitable to trade it in now and get my 25 dollar bonus out of it, or do you think there might be a better deal on the horizon if I trade it toward an Xbox360 slim?

I was hoping to wait a little longer and see if they would bundle the Xbox306 slim with other stuff, but based on what I've seen of the PS3 slim, I am thinking that won't likely happen any time soon.

Couple months ago they had the 50$ hardware bonus. Not sure what the future will hold. Im sure with the recent price drop of the consoles, it might not get much better unless they do something like trade in your console towards the purchase of the new Xbox.

Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar

I want to trade in my Wii that I never use toward the new 360 "slim" but I'm not sure what I did with the original composite cables. Will Gamestop accept their own 3rd party Universal Component/Composite cable (the one that works for Wii, PS3 and 360)

If not, how will they handle that? Deduct the amount of a used composite cable from the total or not accept the trade-in? I want to get it traded in while the $25 bonus is going on. I'm also going to trade in 2 of my older 360's that I rarely used. Hoping to not have to pay any money out of pocket.

Hmm 50 dollar bonus huh? Well that sucks, but I guess had I traded it in then I would have had to wait, so I suppose perhaps that is the price I pay, take advantage of the 25 dollar bonus that is left and count my losses.

Just out of curiosity then, how much would I get for my Xbox360 pro before (or after) the 25 dollar bonus? Any ideas?

Don't know because with the upcoming price drops Gamestop may well lower the trade in values.

I have no doubt that GS will do some kind of an upgrade offer that should be better than the $25 bonus that they are doing now. That is just my opinion though. I have no fact to back that up with other than a feeling.
Yup... FML
The crappy part is this week I was debating on trading in my 360 for a used ps3. Now all I have to hope for is that Sony does something similar to what MS did yesterday and release a higher specd console at $299.99 so that way the older stuff will drop in price.

Well, like some of us have been hoping... they ~might~ do an upgrade bonus that's more than $25. Unlikely though, given how no one actually wants to buy an old 360 now that they're been discontinued.

I wish gamestop was like Amazon or Gazelle and I could lock in a value and then take my time looking for better deals. LOL

I bought an Arcade at Target with their $50 gift card offer, and I'll sit on that for a week or two and weigh my options I think.

I wouldn't mind trading in for a slim, mainly because it's suppose to be quieter, right? I mean quieter then the Jasper 360. I don't really need the extra disc space and I've got a wireless adapter, but quieter and some hope of a permanent RROD, etc, fix. If they have a good upgrade offer I'll probably do it.

Now, I know that you can redownload your XBLA purchases, so is all I have to do is move my profiles and saves to a flash drive and then I'll be set, right? Anything else I need to do in order to transfer to a new 360?

USB Flash drive and you're all set. The one thing about 360 that I prefer over PS3. Simplicity and no ridiculous DRM/license crap.

I think you pretty much got it covered.

TIV from today (as has already been reported, but make it official I reckon):

XB360 Controller - Wireless - 12.75
XB360 Network N Adapter (Disc REQUIRED) - 31.25
XB360 System w/ Wired Controller - 50.00

also (confirmed in store but didn't trade)
XB360 System w/ Wireless Controller - 60.00

I just threw in a wired controller I got from Target clearance for $10 and traded my extra wireless controller separately to squeeze a couple more bucks out. After promos and edge the above netted 123.40 which was about as good as I could hope for (the system is starting to show signs of random lockups and whatnot).

Also, for anyone who doesn't know, B&M stores are _not_ taking any sort of reserves / preorders for the new 360. It's first come first serve on whatever random day they arrive.

Thanks handsomepete, I figured the value of the 360 would drop but $85 isn't too bad I suppose. I can still get Split/Second, Borderlands and Bayonetta(+$10 coupon) for that.

Umm, is my math wrong? Dont you lost money on that trade?

360 w/ Wired Controller = 50 + 12.75 for wireless = 62.75
360 w/ wireless controller = 60 + 9.50 for wired = 69.50

hmmm, right you are. not quite sure what I got mixed up there! I guess I'll consider that my way of giving back after ripping them off via gamestop.com soooo many times in the past year.

Edit: For anyone that's interested, it'd actually be 89.02 (w/ wired separate wireless) vs 95.45 (w/ wireless separate wired) with Edge and bonus.

As long as you're connected to XBL then yes. If you don't have broadband or your internet goes out, all your paid content becomes unusable (add-on packs/songs won't work and XBLA/Indie games become demos) unless you go through the DRM tool on xbox.com

^^ You don't get EDGE 10% bonus on a console. Only on games and accessories. Plus he's saying he traded the "extra wired controller" with the console, then traded the wireless controller seperately. So his math is right.

Man I am so glad i went yesterday.

For my core unit with wireless, plus a g-adapter, wired headset and 60gb hd - I got $160.

Bring on the slim!
USB Flash drive and you're all set. The one thing about 360 that I prefer over PS3. Simplicity and no ridiculous DRM/license crap.
Really? I've gone through 5 360s, and every time I have had to re-download the license to play any of the downloaded content (offline only, online works fine). Not exactly a pain in the neck, but something to be aware of if you're playing offline frequently.

And I happily took $85 for the 360 core unit today. I can't believe they gave me that much, the one I traded in is probably going to die soon.

Im gonna wait to trade in my 360, I guarantee GS will have a console upgrade trade bonus like they did for wii.
aghh i want the slim...I have a 120 gb HDD and xbox 360 less than a year old. Is gamestop the best place to trade it in?
Probably for convenience but the value dropped $20 after the slim 360 was announced. You might want to wait as the above poster has said, but we won't know about the upgrade. I highly doubt they will do this because no one is going to buy the old 360s but then again I could be wrong.
Damn it, I knew I should've traded mine in yesterday. Oh well, 85 still isnt bad, but 105 would've been better...
eek, are you guys telling me the price value JUST went down on them :( ? Because I recall it being 80 earlier (which that plus the 25 dollar bonus would have been just fine for me I guess, although I had originally planned on waiting and thought my value for it would be secure).

Oh man, I am really starting to feel screwed over here :( .

Even if they had some trade in bonus, it's still not gonna benefit you much anyway. They're still gonna give you as much credit as they deem makes it worth it for them to take in your system and resell it.

Considering new arcades are going for $150 w/ bonuses, why would anyone buy (effectively) an old arcade from gamestop? It'll be harder for them to sell these things so the tivs will go down.

If you have a nice xbox, i suggest CL. If your xbox is gonna die and looks like your cat pissed on it, go GS.

I'm hoping TIVs don't plunge before my brother gets a chance to trade his in.

Well I just called GS and they felt bad for me that I basically planned to trade in but the price did drop yesterday. basically meaning that 25 dollar bonus was negated, damn, wish I was more on top of that.

Bright side now is though that I can wait a bit since it's not like the price is going to go lower yet again.

And also thankfully due to the thumbdrive update, I can transfer all my stuff off the HD before I get the new system so I can trade it in at the same time and get a little more money.

My only thought let is this, will there be some special upgrade deal once the slims hit the stores?

The GS guy I asked said that while they are usually told about this by now (and they havent been), that the deal that would be offered is often pretty similar to the 25 dollar bonus, and that it's still possible.

I dunno though, I may not wait all the way until the holiday season to act on it at this point (presuming my 360 lasts that long), even though I've kind of earned it with the price drop :( .

If you have a nice xbox, i suggest CL. If your xbox is gonna die and looks like your cat pissed on it, go GS.
