WELCOME TO THE NEW GAMESTOP TRADE-IN THREAD.

The new thread format will be a work in progress but this first post will be the promos that are active and useful information, but also wikified. The second post will currently be frequently asked questions but may move it into the first post. Post three will be historical trade-in values from before the list.

This time it was over the headset that came with my Forza Xbox One, one without the adapter attached. He put it in as a 360 headset and when I mentioned it, he started talking down to me saying he knows it's not for the Xbox One because it doesn't have the adapter attached. I told him it's because the new controllers have the jack on it already, and then he turned and said it doesn't have the green ring around the earpiece. Guy would not budge and kept insinuating that I was trying to scam him, so I said forget it and kept the headset. Then he hit me with a $3 refurb on a $10 Wii game. He used to be cool, but seriously, fuck that guy.

My cashier rang the new headset as 360 headset as well but he was really nice and gave me a free keychain anyways so it evened out I guess? We talked how it's from the xbox one system but unfortunately the xbox one headsets require the adapter piece for them to accept. Until Gamestop itself programs a new trade-in option they are automatically going to trade-in as a 360 headset.

When I traded mine in, the girl started to ring it up as a 360 headset but I told her it was right out of my Forza bundle. It probably helped that it still had the twist tie on the cord, but my point is that the employee definitely can ring it up as the X1 headset, it's just up to their discretion.

They didn't have any at the location i traded in today in Indiana. Talked to the store manager and he checked in the back and any boxes he received this week and didnt find any.

I'd rather them not get in trouble for a few bucks because honestly it looked like Microsoft recycled the black 360 headsets. I'm probably not complaining because I had two of the older adapter headset and one of the newer ones.

decided to trade in halo 5.   never play it, and to busy with COD and fallout.     will be purchasing it later once I'm done with these 2 games.

 
Beware, if you are looking to buy eBay, Kindle, etc. gift cards via GS, the employees are required to contact their District Manager if the single transaction totals $250 or more in gift cards.

Lol i just bought a $300 ebay gift card tonight with another trade in i had. I wonder if this varies by region maybe. My local store is pretty cool so we will see.

 
Thanks to everyone who pointed out the Dualshock 4 TIV. I had a Dualshock 3 sitting around that wasn't required when I traded in my PS3 to Best Buy a few months back, so I traded in both the DS3 and my 2 year old DS4 for a 20th anniversary DS4. Came out ahead by a buck or two.
 
Yeah i dunno whats that about. Ive heard nothing about having to do that nor about not being able to use store credit to get gift cards.

Also, B2G1 free for Pro members tomorrow. Or is it Wednesday. I don't remember.

You might be right, it may be YMMV. I am a regular customer at my local GS with a positive relationship. It was a first to see the employee and store manager text back and forth to the district manager with a documentation trail. I live in the Philly/S. Jersey area.

Uhhh you don't remember?! Casual big news like this the thread should be exploding! Glad I got my $200 worth of creds at GS just in case they do have a good sale!

 
I want to say tomorrow but Im not sure lol. I just know its PRO gets it first. If anything id assume PRO gets it tomorrow, then regular PUR on wednesday then everyone on black friday.

Its used btw not new.

 
Decided to scan the one 50% bonus TIV card I got last minute tonight, so those who want to print it tonight can. Not sure if they'll accept it printed but you can always say you got it from another store that way.

non trade in related, anybody got hit by trs when ordering from amazon? i tried to order and received an email that they canceled it and i have to contact trs. i loaded $450 my account and now i got this. i contacted amazon and i should be receiving a phone call within 24 hours from billing department. im just wondering if any of you encountered with this? if son what did you do? any help would be appreciated.

Did a Google search. Not sure what it means. Do you have a valid payment method on file with Amazon besides the gift cards?

 
Not sure how I got hit with a refurb fee on a new game I just opened before taking it to a store tonight, other then giving them a crappy case they gave me originally... just is dumb when the refurb fee covers servicing the disc. Guess dinging a customer 75 cents is worth them getting a bad survey over... or not since I'm lazy.

I intentionally went to a far away store just in case for my $500 eBay card. Guy ringing register didn't seem to care at all.

That might be illegal. What you're doing is 100% legal. It's not exploitation like some people here who return their free game from a B2G1F deal without receipt for $60. They know the risk that people may buy games from them B2G1 and trade all three back for more. They know 5 amiibo's for $21.60 that trade in for $7.20 each. They're a major corporation. $250 is chump change for money laundering drug dealers and terrorists, they don't need to be white knights about it, it's the government's job. As far as I'm concerned, if it ain't a glitch in the computer, and the register allows it, and the items you trade aren't stolen: they can't go off whispering and making their own b.s. rules out of fear they're being ripped off. If it's so suspicious, don't allow buying GCs with store credit at all. Not on a person to person basis. If you were black, with a few jewish in-laws, you'd might have a nice discrimination suit on your hands. :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/ If they pull that fuck again, just go all out like the cigarette guy from CLERKS about your rights being violated, and rile up the crowd in the store. If it's a broad unwritten policy that says every transaction for these items over a certain value needs to be cleared with a certain person that should be fine.  If they're doing it because of your race or something then there could be issues there.  Like with some having an issue taking the Redbox games they do have a legal obligation to not take stolen merchandise or allow fraudulent activity.  And one of the main ways people commit retail fraud is with prepaid cards.

I had no reason to suspect on the basis of racial discrimination. I had no intent on pulling the race card nor unleashing my wit on a pair of GS retail employees in the middle class suburbs.
