WELCOME TO THE NEW GAMESTOP TRADE-IN THREAD.

The new thread format will be a work in progress but this first post will be the promos that are active and useful information, but also wikified. The second post will currently be frequently asked questions but may move it into the first post. Post three will be historical trade-in values from before the list.

Wonder if the sheets are current, for Switch in stock.
Maybe they are, for the stores that didn't have midnight release.

Or maybe The Bearded one will update soon. Thanks in advance.

Hey Blackbeard, why don't you take the day off man. You waited all that time to get your Switch so just chill with it and I'm sure we can all take the extra mins to check the BestBuy trade ins manually as we have done for years in the past.

I thought it was strange an employee from my store was first in line for pre ring. Then the store hands out the bag to the "first" guest. They didn't say a word about it before, but he knew ..... he knew to be first.
Then they held a "raffle" for the others. Which they did not disclose to me until after words.....I was like thanks for telling me what time the raffle was......

I'm sure that folks have already said this but holy crap Blackbeard thanks for all you do here.  Because you looked up Maine store stocks for me I hit a local store and got their last non-preordered console.  I'm sure a lot of folks here are in similar boats, that your info made a huge difference.  Thanks again!

 
My local Target had no lines no wait on the Switch, both color schemes, all amiibo, and some SEs.

I copped a SWIItch for him but left the SE chill.

Dont think i need two SEs
 
My local GameStop was to said to have 2-4 non preordered switches according to the spreadsheet, there was only 1 to be sold when I got there 15 minutes before opening, and an old lady who had illegally parked in the fire lane infront of the store got it.
I made them show me on the computer their inventory because when a friend of mine called yesterday to see how many non preorder units they had to sell, they were also told 4.
I guess 3 of the employees pre rung their systems before they opened.
When I left they only had 4 left for people that preordered so I guess I'll call Sunday to see if anyone didn't pick theirs up so I can get one.
 
Picked up my Switch pre-order this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find they still had a couple pro controllers left so I picked up one of those as well, along with a DL code for Snipperclips. Paid for it all with credit and saved ~$30 in tax, which I will mentally file away to use on a DL code for Puyo Puyo Tetris when that comes out. Now I get to sit at work all day with my shiny new (well, matte new) console in a bag on the desk behind me waiting til I can go home and open it up tonight. First time day one console purchase. Thanks for all the info in this thread that helped me build up enough trade credit to buy it!

That store sounds worse then what happened at mine. SM told me 7 over the phone in the morning and I got there and was 5th in line (Thought I was 6th but some guy was there with his friend.) an hour or so after people started lining up behind me and the SM / ASM would come out telling them they only had 5 and they were for the first 5 people in line. 2 hours later one of the workers who was off showed up with 2 friends who didn't pre-order and told them to stand behind me and they were sure to get one since there were 7 available. So far my reports on the inventories seem accurate. So I wouldn't be surprised if the employees were holding them.

I appreciate all the hard work man, if you keep updating, I'll keep checking to see if they get more in. There were at least 13 people there picking up preorders, and I waited until they all left before I talked to them.

The last update you did was minutes after I left and it was still showing low stock for both colors for my store.

edit: now its all sold out

Sounds like your local store employees screwed you out of one then.

 
One of our local Targets for 130 Switches in!!!  Kinda crazy considering the Best Buy got 80 or so, and the Gamestop got 75 (not including pre-orders)

 
I tried two different generic LAN adapters and both worked with the switch. So save some money and buy a generic instead of that overpriced Switch branded one.

Didn't lose the card, got a replacement, so it's just out there in cyberspace...

Wonder when trade in for the accessories will be in their system, if I keep this thing I'll want to get a charge grip and would like to trade in the stock grip towards it.

I was told the same thing. The employee told me he doesn't want to stay late so he was pretty intent on unloading them as quickly as possible at closing time. He also told me someone else had called and told him he plans on getting there at 6:00 pm to wait. I think I will wait for the second wave or christmas time and even get a sale

 
If anyone's feeling lazy I'll take southwest gift cards from GameStop for a switch. Have a spare and tons of flights to buy. Just throwing it out there for those sitting on a mountain of credit.
 
While ringing up the switch, the employee tried to sell me the warranty by claiming Gamestop won't accept defective returns for the first wave of Switch consoles. He said any issues have to go through Nintendo directly. Is that even legal? I was sure it was just a script but he looked dead serious.

Receipt says blatantly that we declined coverage so who knows with GameStop

They technically can deny returns for any reason and DMs probably give out handjobs for this sort of customer service denial

I don't think GameStop takes returns on any opened consoles that were purchased New period if you don't have their protection plan. I think they refer you to the manufacturer's warranty.

Anker has one for preorder on Amazon that looks like it will be really good. MSRP is $30 but is $9.99 if you pre-order right now. I got it in an email from them.
