Are there any characters that are really "fun" to play in HD Remix? I'm trying really hard to get into the game, but I haven't been able to learn any combos on my own (which is why I love KoFXI) and I can't find a good site online to learn them, so that means my matches consist of hadoken, hadoken, hadoken, shoryoken, ad naseum.
Fun characters? Hm.. Blanka, Akuma, DJ (He's so happy all the time he just looks fun!), Fei-Long, Zangief, T. Hawk.... uhhh... Chun-Li.

@ReRo - Have you tried Arcana Heart? It's surprisingly good.

@Chac - My TV crapped out a couple of months ago too. Thankfully, I had helped a family friend with his taxes and got payed enough to pick up a 22' LCD flat screen HDTV that is a hell of a lot better than my old tube TV.

Well I'm going to have a trade list up soon of the stuff I've been meaning to sell. There's not a whole lot of good stuff, but I am selling things like Dodonpachi Daioujou, both of the Ouendan games, and some other semi-cool things.
Wow, sorry to hear that. Didn't you just order TvC? Gonna break out the ol' CRT?
Naw, the Brav is the only TV I have. I'll just use one of the other TVs in the house since I'm at home, or use my computer monitor (which is a 24" widescreen and nicer anyway). I do have TVC on the way, sometime, though. I'm still gettin' that.

I'd say try Vega or Bison. And if you want combos, refer to videos or peruse through the ST wiki at SRK. Nothing much has changed in terms of cancels in HDR so much of the combos should cross over.

Your last comment is essentially how to play shotos, no other way to play them as effective, especially since projectiles are so big in SF2.

I wanna try it but aren't the load times a bitch? with fighters between-round loading needs to be low... kinda why I love T5DR on PS3 due to practically a second for loading.

dood... it's over... seriously...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaTD2rJL9dY

in other news, the results for the BlazBlue tourney were posted on SRK...

so 16 ppl entered, yet the dood posting the results decided to list the top 12.

top 12?!?!?! wtf?? why?!?!?!

normally ppl would post like top 4 or top 8... why 12??

and since only 16 ppl entered, why not post the whole 16 so ppl could see the last 4 ppl who entered?!?!

o wait... I kno why...

it's becoz your nappy ass beat me at the competition!! thanks to me you didnt hafta get into last place!!

and now becoz of that u wanna feel important and put a list that includes your name in it, tied for 12th place!!

crazy motha suckerz man...

lol, but :bs: :wall: :dunce: seriously, but lol also.

TV money indeed. Granted, I have enough money to buy a TV, but I'm not willing to blow a significant chunk of cabbage without recouping at least some of it prior. I might act like a moron on CAG/XBL, but I'm shrewd enough to do that IRL.
I know ur shrewd, so no need to say so. You should start a trust fund so people throw money at you.
Lul, I should. They'll release the funds on the condition that I totally rock. The only problem is that the money would never have a chance to earn any interest, because they would end up giving me the money immediately upon the receipt of it.

Sorry Chac, but didn't see anything.

Best of luck though, I'd be mega pissed if I were you. You seem to be taking it in stride.

Also, anyonme in the PA / NJ area? There is a tournament in Doylestown this weekend. If anyone wants more info hit me up.

3s / MvC2 / HD Remix

10 dollar venue fee, 5 dollar per game. $100 bonus for 1st place plus a 70 / 20 / 10 split

t(ony) hawk is a decent character, but he has a real bad match up against guile, who is a pretty popular character online. he's my secondary. j.jabs

and of course, deejay. only because i like his really easy combo. crossup j.mk, c.lpx2, s.mp, hk sobat. sooooo easy and fun to do. his upkicks juggle so that's always fun, and you can connect with his super afterwards too.

try playing without a projectile. you learn a lot about using normal moves =)

Arakune is too funny. That shit was ridiculous.

When I played the game over the weekend I was curious about what kind of potential/style of play Arakune would have.

We now have the answer.

Its not even his what-theres-shit-everywhere stuff that bothers me, its that Arakune's normals are so retarded. He's so annoying to play. I really need to come up with a good counter strategy for him with Jin, because at the moment in basically consists of baiting a jumpin and doing a crossup 623C.

I don't remember it being too bad. I'll look into it.

EDIT: Here is a video where you can see the loading times.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mTe8wXIo3c

Thanks for all the tips on SF2. I'm going to stay away from the shoto characters then.

I've played a bit with Deejay and kind of liked him. I might learn him. He's not shoto right?

Can't wait for my stick so I can do charge moves more consistently.
>_< I really hate people that use the same patterns in SFTHDR. How do you get out of Balrog's punch+headbutt pattern? I see alot of people use it online.
what pattern?
you mean: headbutt throw, walk under, cr. forward, headbutt throw?

you can either try to do a reversal with invincibility (shoryuken, blanka ball, upkicks, what have you) or you can try to throw him first.

He means the sliding punch and the headbutt is charged by then. So all they really have to do is wait for you to jump. I really wish they nerfed this shit, it's incredibly hard to get out of when youre in the corner. There's more talk about this on the STHD Balrog changelog on Sirlin's site. Unfortunately, he didn't do anything to change it.

The only way I seem to have gotten out of it was a lucky sweep or a whiffed headbutt. I'm not sure if you can push him back with a fb since he can just headbutt through the fb and hit you.

i usually turtle. a lot of players are really impatient and if you wait long enough, they'll do the buffalo headbutt. on block is when you have to dig deep in and think about what they're gonna do. are they gonna rush punch again, or are they gonna try to bait you before rush punching? i've gotten away with things like walk up throw, and i'm sure other characters have different options.

Starting to main Claw in SFHD.

Giving up on 'Rog for now.

Did pretty decent in ranked matches earlier with Claw though. Gonna play some more w/ Ryu to.
Hmm, I just played a few matches with Zangief, and liked him quite a lot. Does he have any matchups that are really hard to win?
I'm a Gief player and the only character I constantly have troubles with is Blanka. I can squeak in a win here or there if the other player sucks. I don't really have problems with anyone else.

I'm regretting not paying the extra $10 for EMS shipping at Play-Asia. This waiting shit for TvC when my converters are already here is painful.

Reading about SRK players' finds and watching videos is making even harder of a wait.

I wish you had dat SFHD on PSN.
I wish I could read the text on the moves list to figure out how to do a slow lariat.
Hit all 3 punches at the same time, or both strong punches. Alternatively, you can hit all 3 mediums.

All 3 kicks, or both weak attacks will do the quick lariat.

Thanks! I couldn't figure it out for the life of me!

BTW, you still interested in selling your stick stuff?

I feel dumb, I played through arcade on easy (and still got my ass kicked towards the end ) because I thought that was how to unlock Akuma. Little did I know you just had to hit up on Guile.

Yeah, I'll have pricing / pics up sometime this week. Same goes with my extra PS2 ---> GC coverters.

No problem on the moves list.

PS: My TvC still hasn't arrived :( I think I'm going to have to wait till Christmas to play it anyway, because it was a gift. We'll see.

When did Play-Asia ship it out? Did you go for the cheap shipping? I'm curious because I have a feeling mine won't be here till after X-Mas (it shipped the 11th)
So I tested the Mayflash Joybox converters, they work well, I'm compiling number testing now but I think they're good to go!
Woo! Great news! I'm guessing they work fine for PSX or PS2 sticks? (I have a PSX wired custom and the T5 stick)
