I think my buddy in Germany might be shipping over a green 360 controller... hopefully it'll be better than the regular ones for fighting games.
 
I'm glad to hear SF is coming out tuesday and not thursday. I'll get a chance to play it before I go to hell the step families for thanksgiving.
 
2 quick questions:
1. Anyone know if TvC on the Wii will support GCN pads when it comes out?

2. If so, what is a good (preferably cheap) GCN to PS2 converter? I've seen a handful, but don't know if lag or other issues may come up. I can't imagine playing with the crap ass Wii/GCN dpad, and even the VC controller would be a pain.

Game supposedly comes out Dec. 15th in Japan, so I'll be importing, and want to make sure I got a good pad to play it with (sorry, can't use stick to save my life. Me am ashamed)

Hey dudes. I went in an impulse buy and bought this off from a Woot-off for $5:

It's suppose to be for PC FPSs...but when I looked at the button layout, I thought "oh snap"

Tell me how wrong I am in my impulse purchase. I mean, now that I think about it, the button layout is all wonky, the D-pad looks absolutely terrible, it's built for FPSs.

But eh, $5. I didn't even pay $5; I just told my aunt I'll give her $5 Amazon GC I won from Swagbucks.

Actually, I have what I assume is an older version (def. Saitek) and for the money, it's not bad. D-pad is serviceable, but don't expect perfection. 6 face buttons is always nice though, especially for fighters. Great for emulators, not that you would ever do such a thing... Still, you can get a cheap adapter for a PS2 controller (or directly plug in a PS3 controller if you have one) and that seems to work the best for me, even without 6 face buttons

Good games to all the fighting game regulars in Gears last night. Mr. Beef was doing enough chain sawing to cook steak dinners for every CAG on the planet.
 
Play some Boob Calibur 4 last night. I wasn't too rusty, I was holding my own against the old edge master kilik.

I really can't figure out how to get better at the game other than blocking strings and getting the parrys and parry combos down, which I'm learning. I'm having a rough time with it.
 
Anyone get that Street Fighter deck for Uno? And is it like the other theme decks where only one person in the room needs to own it in order for everyone to play?

btw, with the NXE and all that I'd definitely be down for some "party" hopping on LIVE. I've really fallen off as far as online multiplayer gaming goes and I think this party system could be the thing that gets me back into it.



P.S. how do you get the new-style gamercards on mygamercard.net? I only see options for the older ones with no avatars.

I still have no idea how I managed to get through one of the last rounds with only 1 death.
 
Jekki, I think you have a doppleganger. Coz I was playing Gears 2 last night, and all of a sudden, the screen goes white and there's a sound like "shhhwwwaaa" and this dude with a gamertag that says JEKKISTYLE goes in the room. and I'm like "what the fuck?", because the dude said "hello" and a couple other words, but he totally didn't sound like your avatar or a ghangsta. I didn't know what to think.

Actually, this reminds me that I need to get some new godddamn batteries. Do you guys know how motherfucking expensive batteries are? It's insane. Apparently the Jewish fuckin' mafia runs the battery industry around here, because there's no way batteries are worth more than like 10 cents.

Well, I'm gonna go play Xenogears. W/o batteries.

Oh good, my purchase isn't worthless.
The actual controller is a terrible idea; why would anyone substitute the precision of keyboard and mouse with an analog controller? But, of course, this is a fighting game thread :)

Four bumpers too. So it's basically a PS2 controller with 2 more buttons and a crappy D-pad.

I'll give you guys an update on how well it plays in Gee Gee Pee Oh.
 
The play and charge kit is the biggest fucking scam I've ever seen. They could have totally thrown a USB thing on the controller like the PS3 has, and I wouldn't have to shell out for some more shitty stuff from MS. But noooo. I gotta steal some batteries from home when I'm back next week... hrmm.. fuck.

By the way, I played Castle Crashers and it's fucking terrible. What the hell do people see in that game? It's basically Final Fight - Entertainment Value.

I love Xenogears. Also, the Gears 2 single player was damn good. I was really pretty amazed by how strong it was. I also hope I won SDTekken's contest for Battle Fantasia.

I want SFII HD.

And I'm totally gonna try other characters. I'm serious, $$$s. I'm really gonna do it this time.

i had host for just one match yesterday and holy crap, everything was clicking, i got hammerburst downs real easily, my boomshot was connecting, i won all my shotgun battles...

no weapon slide though.

also i had a loltastic moment on security when i smoke grenaded myself and used the stun to get past the lasers to mortar the enemy.
 
I loved Castle Crashers but I'll never bother with it online because I don't want to lose all my pets and weapons.

$20 for SF2HD is a kick in the nuts. I *kinda* have the money but I'd really rather not ever spend $20 for a download-only game. The situation is made worse because I've never gotten a good deal on PSN money. When shit is overpriced on 360 or Wii I can at least rest easy knowing that I've almost never paid full price for sexbox points or Wii moneys.

Getting the game on XBLA isn't really an option. My 360 is broken and I don't have anything to play it with other than the basic pad.
 
I really hope that image is doctored like Sven was saying. Or an old picture.

I don't think I can resist the game even at $20 but $15 would be potentially cool enough to stay up for (assuming it comes out at like midnight next week).
