i like sf2. when i first played it, not so much. probably because the metagame didn't advance much past me choosing ryu, my brother choosing zangief
if i fireball trapped, my bro would call me cheap
if i didn't fireball trap, my bro would tick throw me and call me cheap
so that was it.
the first fighting game i got real hardcore into was mvc2. like real real hardcore. i'd play fighting games for fun, but heck, i didn't even learn shoto j.hp - c.mk - hadoken until SFA3. mvc2 changed all that.
i bounced from game to game, mvc2, 3s, a3, a2, t5, vf4, gg...
when AE came out i thought i was all cool at it but i really sucked. i'd watch a few videos or whatever, but i never understood it.
but right before HD remix came out I decided to give GGPO a try
and man, i just really liked it. playing against someone was just an awesome experience and the more i played, learned, you start to appreciate the subtleties in the game, the mindgames. i like the simplicity, like the fact that people can't block in the air, the easy combos (with no ridiculous custom combos to learn), and just learning what beats what.
it's good. i wish they'd simplify it even more and just get rid of supers, but i like the fact that it's so simple. compared to the fluff of a GG.
