GGs

jekki vs. djbooba = tourney problems

to whoever asked how to beat honda:

i use shoto and it's much easier if you have a projectile. keep him out with projectiles but make sure to vary the timing or use fake hadokens. if he jumps, anti-air. if he does butt slam or you bait jab torpedo you can walk up to him and sweep xx fireball and reset the distance. jab torpedo is only good if he predicted it and hits the fireball at the end of his torpedo.

once he gets in, try to push him back out. sweep xx fireball, a throw, or a knockdown, or psychic dp... something. compared to vanilla ST, honda has much less options up close because the threat of safe ochio throw is gone. the key is to vary your fireball timing and make sure you don't become predictable... you'd be surprised at how predictable you can be.

ggs to djbooba. i think i played you on ranked before? good stuff... i think my DPs were getting too predictable though, and i kept getting scissored when i'd press forward for a split second =)

ggs to rodimus, i remember your zangief was a beast when we tried to get a room going. i've been practicing my zoning so i was ready.

i'm starting to really like t.hawk. i just need to learn his normals. doing his taco chop all day (j.lp) isn't really getting me anywhere =)

omg! Blanka!

http://www.iplaywinner.com/news/200...-iv-ultimate-blanka-guide-feat-lil-shoto.html

click and listen! now!

also the thing I have most trouble with is jumping characters! a lot of the stuff I try doing against them whiffs and leaves me hella open. Also crossups are a bitch since I'm always charging, u cross me up and I lose my back charge and thus lose an attack option.

like asianxcore, I went like 3-17 with him, dood murdered me coz he kept jumping forward-kick. I eventually was able to counter it with a straight jump up roundhouse, but like it only worked in that one situation.

I also get killed by good Vega players a lot too, and throw setups always hurt me (altho I hurt ppl with throw setups as well!).

to be honest tho, I lose all my mirror matches... like ALL of them! I'm so ashamed lol.

Damn good shit kainzero, jekki, djbooba and crew.

Hopefully I can get in on the next one (which should be no problem at all, since I will be on break starting the middle of this this upcoming week).

GG to everyone. It was fun but I have to admit I was disappointed in my performance.

You did a great job keeping me away. I was trying to find some hole in the defense but it was just too solid. I need to get used to the green hand, I just haven't warmed up to it yet.
Buy that shit and play me, please.
i'll play vf with you, my gt - aychkilla

also gg's to everyone i played in sthd tourney and congrats to the winners and thanks markman and n8nmonster for running everything so smoothly. :)

It's funny how much stuff Blanka's j.lk/fk has priority over :)

Hopefully I'll be able to join you guys next time. I won't be out of town next week (as I am currently) so I'd be down for one then.

ARCANA HEART 2.......April 9th, 2009 JPN/PS2 for all you import freaks like myself.

Can't wait

On an unrelated note, I finally sent my payment for the inPin PS2/PS3 converter. The days of searching various EB/Gamestop for another Pelican Converter to match the one I have is over.

Thanks to MarkMan who mentioned the converter originally. A definite steal compared to what the Pelican is now going for.
man how can u not know Jollibee!?

had it been anywhere else other than Jollibee, it would be unworthy of both LOL and OMG together

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=3734
I went to Jollibee's today, but they didn't have any SF toys. They only had some "pet toy" thing. What the hell.

The spaghetti and chickenjoy order I got was delicious though.

I might be on later tonight sporadically for study breaks on HDRemix on 360 if anyone will be up for playing a few round here or there.

Spent like 30 minutes on an SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos machine today. Game was crazy fun, I wish it had a PS2 version. Made me really want a stick too.

Don't. I have the Xbox version and I haven't had that much trouble pulling off a shoryuken since the original SF. Capcom made the better of the vs. games.

Weird, the arcade version was real fun. I was kicking a fair bit of ass with Iori too. The only thing that didn't register right was his hadoken thing.

I found a CvS2 at a gamestop today but I couldn't justify spending 30 bucks on it.

played more BlazBlue today.

the thing is, it's depressing since I wanna learn this character and am struggling with when these 4 doods who are at the arcade like all the time kick so much ass already... and 2 of them can use Litchi hella good!!

so I suck ass from an execution standpoint, it's HELLA hard... 2A 5B 5C 2C 3C 623D 2B 2C etc...

but the good part is, becoz I watch these doods I can figure out that's what they are doing, I jus gotta get comfortable with doing it.

still, when u roll up there at 5PM when nobody should be there and yet everyone is there already, u think damn I bet u guys have BEEN here huh?

I also played SF4 and discovered u cant focus cancel Honda's torpedo... wtf?!?!?!

The best thing that came out of that game was Violent (lol) Ken. I still want it for my collection, but I can't pick it up knowing that it's not backwards compatible. God knows why SNK didn't approve a PS2 version of the game.

Capcom Vs. SNK 2 is a spectacular game. I've spent countless hours on it. If you can get a deal on it (ie, watch for coupons, price drops, ebay cashback), I'd definitely recommend picking it up. It's leagues better than SvC, even though that had its charm.
I'd agree that CvS2 is a much better fighting game than SvC.
I do too ,but SvC Chaos is still fun to play around with. I like how they re-did some of the characters animation, namely Balrog's stance. And for some reason Capcom is afraid to use anyone from the Darkstalkers series besides Morrigan. It was nice to see SNK throw in Demitri instead.

But they also removed Morrigan. :bomb:

I really wanted to see an SNK-ized Morrigan, too. Hell, I wanted to see ANY new Morrigan sprite. I think hers has to have a record as the longest used sprite without touchup in a fighting game.

True dat on the Darkstalkers franchise. Arguably, it has some of the most interesting characters in the Capcom universe. I mean BB Hood and her Uzi....really? That's gangsta and fairytale in the same breath.

I have NEVER played a Darkstalkers game. Not because of a lack of interest but because Capcom hasn't released a collection stateside that isn't on the PSP. I don't understand why, either.

You can always pick up the Playstation One copies and play them on a PS3/PS2. Don't have to worry about dumb backwards compatibility issues with PSX games. I believe I have Darkstalkers 3 buried around somewhere.

Speaking of PSX games, I caught a guy trying to trade some in to a Gamestop and told him that they don't accept them anymore. Took a look and saw Street Fighter: The Movie The Video Game in a giant old school PSX case. Bought it off of him for $5. I couldn't resist. It's terrible, I know, but the sheer novelty of it forced my hand.

I dunno if its just me, but on SNK games the hadouken shoryuken motions seem to come out better with the input as forward, neutral, down, down-forward instead of the usual way: forward, down-forward, down, down-forward or forward, down, down forward. I honestly prefer f, n, d, d-f, I dunno why... Though I sure as hell can't get away with that in Capcom games.

edit: thanks for pointing that out guardian, boy it's too late for me.

You mean Shoryuken motions? I hadn't noticed any differences personally. I just treat it like the first half of a double quarter circle forward is missing.

awesome Litchi moves!

6A (overhead) rapid cancel and 2C 236B 236C loop ftw!!

anyway I posted my daily findings in the game here:

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=327311&postcount=69

check it out even if u dont understand the game, playing new games and trying to figure them out is fun!!

unfortunately, this may prolly be the last I play of BlazBlue for a while...

Persona 4. yah. The time it takes to do the arcade thing can be spent on P4 instead lol.

i cant believe de la hoya bitched out and threw in the towel :lol:

I was rooting for Pac, though I can understand why De La Hoya threw in the towel. I'd rather go out with a forfeit than be knocked out. I can't believe how many clean left straights he took. He's already extremely old for that sport and he should retire before he does anymore damage to his image. Manny sure is looking sharper (much more ripped than before), I wonder who he's going to fight next.

Back on topic, how do you guys do the DP motion?

I can do them fine on 1P but my 2p side is just horrible.

to consistently pull off DP I do like a real wide motion,

hit the forward, then go to like down-back to down-forward instead of from down to down-forward.

square gates help a lot, you can just ride the bottom of them
you can just ride the bottom
That's what she said...

I just try to do a small/compact motion and make sure I hit the diagonal.

Practice on your weak side.

All day.

You don't want to be dependent on one side.

I just did an eBay search on Darkstalkers and OH SNAP! DS3 starts at $50 used.
Somewhere, the moth that flew out of my wallet is laughing at me. Time to check the Mom & Pop used media store and Goodwill.

I picked up the Saturn version of the SF movie game about 8 or 9 years ago and all I can say is........DAMN KYLIE MINOGUE IS HOT AS CAMMY!!!

Ack! Older Capcom PSX fighters seem to be going for a lot since they can be played on all PS3s. I actually don't have Darkstalkers 3 . I think I was waiting for the price to drop on it. Silly me.

I did unearth Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Pocket Fighter, and Street Fighter Alpha 3. Heheheh, Jojo.

T6: BR trailer looks dope. Lars hair is still killin me though. In general, I'm not interested in any of the new T6 / T6:BR characters. Miguel seems alrite, but other than that, they're all extremely corny.

Still anticipating the game though.

I was mega into 5.0, I got like 16th or something at East Coast Regionals. I lost a bit of interest in Dark Resurrection, but still dug out. Drove out to Reading when it came out to play it. Beasted up the kids there and then they were talking crap about us on TekkenZaibatsu lol. During their shit-talking, they neglected to mention my crazy Jack-5 win streak that only got stopped because the arcade closed down. All they had to say about my Jack-5 was that it was mad "basic and predictable". That shit was funny. Those were the days.

hmm weird, I've always done the "f,(n,)d,df" for dragon punches with no problem. I mentally think of it as a "tap" forward (i.e. pushing forward and then briefly releasing so it's neutral) and then doing a partial fireball motion. So i pretty much just do it the way the notation is written... no special tricks!

Even on the xbox d-pad they've been coming out consistently (surprisingly!). The controller actually gives me more trouble with charge moves, due to the tendency to jump accidentally.

I didn't get to see the fight but read the round by round on a website.

I'm guessing De La Hoya couldn't play keep away and Pacman just got up close with fists flying. Either way, filipinos are proud right now :D

I replied to that thread Jim. It looks like a nice laptop for the price, and I'll scour for some comparable deals in a bit. Always need to hook a brother up. ;)

360 Dpad is making my thumb feel something it hasn't in a very long time : pain. Sucks ass. Today, it's Dremel time.
